No thats quite too early, you should wait till next year, most times when the visa is issued, you are expected to travel within three months from the date of visa issuance. so you cant apply now if you still planning to travel next year august.
Graceee:
I meant August 2020.
Can one start applying soon/ this month or wait till nest year??

HI Ajokeomo, big congratulations to you for making it into brazil. Well, in my own opinion I will suggest Florianopolis, cos the hassle of getting your documentations done in florianopolis is very minimal compared to Sao paulo and that is because Sao paulo is more populated that floriano and so you most likely would experience longer queues even at the clinics when you wanna go for your antinatal, and then floriano is safer, infact it is regarded as the safest city in Brazil. So I wish you a good time in brazil be rest assured that you gonna enjoy the country and the people as Brazilians are very friendly with everyone. For accommodation, you can check Airbnb, you sure would get affordable prices at your preferred destination.

Also, pls can you enlighten the house here especially for the sake of those that are planning to also give birth in brazil, how you went about the visa processes if you dont mind pls. Also, pls did you do any pregnancy test at the embassy in Nigeria cos that is one of the fears of people right now. Big congratulations one again Ajokeomo, you are just few steps away from becoming a Brazilian yourself. wink smiley grin

Cheers
Ajokeomo:
Hello,

So I got into Brazil last night and I must say that the people are very friendly especially at the airport in São Paulo. You’ll always find someone who speaks English there and willing to help. I was worried about racism and so far I have experienced none despite the fact that 99 percent of people I have seen and related with are white.

In Rio however, it’s difficult to communicate with people except the hotel attendants. I had a difficult time trying to make purchases at the supermarkets. No one speaks English and the labels and instructions are all written in portugese. I’m not someone who likes to try new food so eating has been somewhat difficult for me also

I’m only in Rio for few days and still trying to decide between Sao Paulo and Florianópolis. Please I’ll need suggestions on safe and affordable areas in São Paulo.

There were Nigerians in the flight to São Paulo, about 4 of them speaking Yoruba. I spoke with one when we landed, asked him a few questions but missed him in the process of finding my next flight (which was difficult because the airport is so big)

you actually dont need a transit visa
LegitBachelor:
Hello guys.

Please is it possible to go to Barbados through Brazil without the need for any visa at all? This was a route I found out:

Outbound
LOS - JNB - GRU (South African Airways)
GRU - PTY - POS - BGI (Copa + Caribbean Airlines)

Return
BGI - POS - PTY - GRU (Caribbean Airlines + Copa)
GRU - JNB - LOS (South African Airways)

I noticed S. Africa Airways and Copa America are both members of Star Alliance. Is it possible that they can codeshare? Since this flight involves two tickets with Brazil being in between the two tickets, will a Brazil Transit Visa be needed or can it waived if one stays within the airport?

Abbreviations
LOS - Lagos, Nigeria.
JNB - Johanessburg, South Africa.
GRU - Sao Paulo, Brazil.
PTY - Tocumen, Panama.
POS - Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago.
BGI - Bridgetown, Barbados.

ohhh! that so sad, i suspected that as well cos I am fully aware of some countries that have started carrying out pregnancy test as far back as 3yeaars ago at their brazil embassies, but never knew they would start so soon in Nigeria. However, guys here is an eye opener, as an alternative you can consider giving birth in Chile or Argentina (both also in South America as Brazil). As at 29th March 2019(wikipedia), Chilean passport is the 14th strongest in the world and Chile passport is one of the only three passports in the world that is visa free to USA and Canada, the other two are Brunei and South Korea Passports. Chile also offers Citizenship by birth to any child born there. Also Argentina offers citizenship by birth to any child born there and argentina shares same border with Brazil. So guys you can consider those two countries as well as their passports are in the top 20 strongest passports in the world for your child.
Cheers

Update:

The visas were not approved because of the pregnancy.

Hi princeomoajo, Yes after giving birth to your baby, the baby gets the citizenship automatically and by law you parents also get a PR. However, if you are able to do all the documentations and get the protocolo within a month that you intend to stay after your baby's birth, then your wife can collect the PR card on your behalf, you just need to do a kinda authorization that she will be the one to collect for you. Infact a friend can collect on your behalf as long as you have done the necessary authorization that the friend should collect for you, but bfr you can collect the protocolo you need to get some documents from Nigeria which you will submit for your protocolo application like police report from Nigeria and it has to be notorized by a notary public that is recognized by the brazil embassy in Nigeria and thereafter the brazil embassy will have to also sign and then will send to you in brazil. with the protocolo you can exit brazil and come back to pick your PR but the protocolo is only valid for 3 months of which within those three months, your PR is expected to be ready for pickup. Anyways you can send me an email (samuel.soma@yahoo.com). Cheers
princeomoajo:
My question:

Hello @Adj10, please i and my wife are in the process of applying for the brazil visa and intend for her to give birth. we are considering sao paulo and are happy to finance her stay for up to 3 months post birth. I wanted to reconfirm if your submission that one can process all documentation including the baby's passport and our permanent residence.

In the case where i cannot stay back for past 1 month after delivery within which i trust we would have gotten the baby's passport (she can stay back for 3 months before she has to return), can she get our PR on our behalf or we both have to be physically present. how certain still certain is the 2-3 months PR processing time?. With the protocolo can one leave and come back to pick up the PR when it is ready? This is because i cant get more than the usual 30 days of work.

I hear the documentation for PR is quite tedious, however, i am still unclear about the list of documents this requires (especially does one has to take from Nigeria upon leaving for brazil). will contracting an immigration lawyer/firm/agent in brazil make it any easier? if yes, can you share the contact of any trusted firm with good success rate.

I have sent you an email and will be happy if you could oblige me you contacts for further communication and clarity as we get along the process.

Apologies, as i know my questions seem like alot for a new comer to this platform. However, i and my wife will appreciate your kind feedback.

Also anyone with information on any of the specific questions posed here can please help with submission where they can.
TravelRe: Giving Birth In Brazil by Samuelsoma: 11:04am On May 23, 2019
My brother, If when you were entering, you mentioned to the immigration officer at the airport that you were coming in to give birth especially in their public hospital and you were let in, then i must consider you lucky. I think God placed that officer for you there. ona good day, even if they would let you in eventually, they sure will tackle you small not just express entry and if you tell them you coming to a private hospital, they will ask you for documents supporting that from the private hospital. So it is never adviceable to mention such thing at the airport. and then anyone going to give birth, I advice you enter thru Rio de Janeiro airport, cos from various observations they officers there dont really pay much attention to you at the immigration counter unlike the airport in Sao Paulo that is busier and so there are lots of officers here and there at the airport...#justmyopinion
dyydxx:
Just from experiences of folks down here. Let me rephrase maybe that came out wrongly. Brazilian authorities know about this birth citizenship and welcome it. It's not a lightning rod issue here and you won't get any official here refuse you entry if your stated goal is to give birth here as long as you have all the necessary legal documents and can take care of yourself

No sir the door can never be closed, its already in the constitution so that cant be changed. The worst they can do if they see that nigerians are taking too much advantage of their free health care is to make securing a visa stricter and more difficult. The US door has not closed, they just made US visa more difficult to get for we Nigerians, many people from different countries have really been taking advantage of this birth tourism in brazil but people'e eyes in naija just opened to this and am sure with what US is doing to Nigerians now, Brazil is gonna be so flooded soon especially for birth tourism. If you ask me sincerely in my own opinion I prefer giving birth in brazil to the US because of the many benefits attached to it for both the child and the parents which US doesn't offer.
justwise:
The Brazilian door will close pretty soon just like the US.

Well, lets hope they aint calling you for a pregnancy test, cos I am fully aware that some brazilian embassies in some countries have started doing pregnancy test for any lady applying for tourist visa. I really dont know if they have started that in Nigeria. but before you go pls place a call to the embassy and ask for clarifications as pertaining the email that was sent. I pray they wont start that in Nigeria cos thats gonna affect so many people that would love to go give birth in Brazil
Logachev:
OK house...so I travelled to Lagos last month and submitted an application for Brazil tourist visa at the Consulate. My wife is pregnant but we did it nicely that it didn't show a bit. We had a nice chat with the VO and he said we would get a mail informing us to come pick our passports soonest. He said if we weren't available, we could detail someone to pick up for us provided we inform the consulate prior...and all. Howbeit, I had to travel last weekend and I informed a friend in Lekki that he would do the pick up for us when the time comes. Now I have received a mail form the Consulate inviting us for an interview. I don't know if this is an invitation to pick up our passports or another round of VO interview. Mind you every single document submitted was authentic and original so I'm not worried of any such incident. I just want to confirm if this email title is meant to be invitation for collection of passport or not

Well if you already secure a job in Brazil, then that is different but then from the knowledge I have it isnt so common cos most employers want you to have a basic knowledge of Portuguese, but then there are instances that your company where you work in Nigeria or any other place has a collaboration with another company in brazil or maybe a sister company/firm in brazil, in such cases the visa that the embassy would give you wont be a tourist visa anymore. but if you planning to go give birth in brazil then its better to go with sufficient money first and then after getting your PR which doesnt take long after you have given birth..then you can start surfing for jobs around
peppo4live:
If job is waiting for someone in Brazil, does that mean that person has gotten PR automatically... What can you say about securing work visa at their embassy in Nigeria... Hope they are not that strict with it?

Thanks

thanks for your time I would like me and my wife to visit Brazil on a visiting visa for her to give birth in the country. But my concern is can i get a hussling job i we be doing to put food on the table for both of us before she give birth?
hmmm bro, to be sincere its difficult to get a job without a PR, infact its not allowed by law. so pls prepare yourself financially and then you can find some cheaper and safe cities to stay. for example in places like florianopolis, curitiba you can get a good service apartment for rent at 1200-1500reais/per month...equivalent in naira of btw 100k-150k/per month give or take...so you can have a budget for the number of months you plan to stay and i will advice you even over shoot your budget and have much more extra cash with you. For me, brazil is the best option to give birth right now with all the several benefits it has and you will forever be grateful that you did it for your child/children

. Can i visit usa from Brazil with my nigeria passport! Eg, traveling via train or bus
Yes you can Visit USA with your Nigerian passport provided you have US Visa on your passport, even Brazilians too need a US visa to visit US and AMericans too need Brazil Visa to visit Brazil, but 10years US Visa is granted to Brazil passport holders without any stress at once,so the best bet is to firstly get your PR and then a year after getting your PR you are eligible to apply for the Brazil passport and Boom!!! you can start travelling round the world with that blue beautiful brazil passport
