Permit me to say you are equating what is not with what is in Nigeria. Prostitution is a crime in Northern Nigeria alone, not the whole of Nigeria. The North and South operate different criminal statutes. So, your position is untenable.
Secondly, the crux of the dispute is obtaining money under false pretences. It says nothing about whether it was for prostitution or not. You are the one adding what is not in contention with what is.

Prostitution wasn't mentioned at all. The case is relevant to section 419 of the Nigeria criminal code. It's called advance fee fraud and punishment ranges with an average of 7yrs.

Let me spell out the exact way it is in the criminal code.


Any person who by any false pretence, and with intent to defraud, obtains from any other person anything capable of being stolen, or induces any other person to deliver to any person anything capable of being stolen, is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for three years. If the thing is of the value of one thousand naira or upwards, he is liable to imprisonment for seven years.

She should have refunded the money immediately she wasn't available to show up.
Hope you know that in Nigeria of today, you can sue over a promise to marry if such isn't fulfilled and you have committed yourself or substance into such relationship due to the promise made to you

Did anyone charge the Yahoo girl for prostitution? How does house visit translate to prostitution? A friend gave a neighbor lady some money to help him get some food stuff because foodstuffs were cheaper in her area after she called to notify him zif he would need anything from village because she's on the way to the City where he lives. He sent #50,000 but for two years now she never showed neither refund the money. The case here is collecting money by false presence not prostitution. If she had the evidence to proof that the man was demanding for sex she should have reported the case to the police and deposited the money plus other evidence. Na long throat go kill olosho and now she must pay 15x more. Olosho must learn at all cost. There was a similar case last year and the dirty lady was fined ten times more also.
