To even ATTEMPT to end the insurgency, the US would need to deploy a MINIMUM 100,000 troops on the ground, and even then it's not guaranteed.

The idea of such troop deployment is politically unfeasible in the US.

Nigerian authorities should even use this opportunity to work with Pentagon for targeted strikes on the bandits.

For me, this present a new vista of opportunity that BAT should employ to route out the bandits. Nigerian armed forces do not possess the drone capabilities required to monitor and gather intelligence for precision strikes. This is what Washington wants to provide and the Nigerian authorities should work with them to map out and delineate areas for strikes.

What I would not support is unilateral strike on Nigeria by external forces. This would amount to an insult on the sovereignty of Nigeria.
