The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Cross River, has impounded 16,000 litres of stolen petroleum products in the state.

The state NSCDC Commandant, Mr Samuel Fadeyi, said the stolen products which are mainly Automotive Gas Oil also known as diesel, were stored in drums and gallons and hidden at trailer parks across the state.

The Federal Government has completed the takeover of four electricity distribution companies and constituted the board of the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company.

The Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna State, is set for the establishment of the Urology and Kidney Transplant facility at its Teaching Hospital in Shika, Zaria, as the institution has taken delivery of the second consignment of the essential equipment for installation, The PUNCH reports.

The first and second consignments of the medical equipment had been delivered to the university and the last consignment would soon be delivered.

Some of the medical items delivered to the university for the establishment of the medical facility include a C-Arm X-Ray system, operating table, electric suction machine, anesthesia machine, and vigor patient monitor.

A 65-year-old woman, Tunmise Oluyemi, resident in Ilesa, Osun State, has been killed on her farm by suspected ritualists.

The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement on Tuesday, said the assailants removed one of the eyes of the deceased.

She said Tunmise, who went missing last Saturday, was found dead on her farm in the Fadahunsi area of Ilesa on Monday.

She said, “It was reported around 1pm on Monday to the police that one Tunmise Oluyemi, aged 65, who went missing last Saturday, was found dead on her farm at the Fadahunsi area of Ilesa around 11.30am.

Terrorists that attacked the AK-9 Abuja-Kaduna train and abducted passengers on March 28, have, on Tuesday, released five more hostages including a victim shot while in their custody, Mukhtar Shuaibu.

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service is set to launch its whistle-blower initiative to provide a platform for employees, stakeholders, and the general public to report any observed violation, misconduct, or unethical behaviour across the state.

A crash involving two vehicles in the early hours of Tuesday along Alaro City, Epe area of Lagos State claimed 16 lives and injured five.

Twenty-three male adults were involved in the crash; while 16 died, five were critically injured, and two suffered no injuries.

Confirming the accident, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Command, noted that the crash occurred at 03:00 am and was caused by impaired visibility due to reckless driving.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has announced the dismantling of two major clandestine laboratories in Lagos and Anambra States, where the dangerous illicit drug, crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as meth in local parlance, was produced for local distribution and export.

The agency said that following the outbreak of crystal methamphetamine abuse in the last quarter of 2021, predominantly in the South East and the demand for help from many communities in the region, it deployed all available assets to find the primary source of manufacturing of the drug in Nigeria and arrest the barons behind it.
