PoliticsRe: Onne Port vessel traffic improves - Bello-Koko, MD NPA by Saviour07: 10:45pm On Mar 07, 2024
I don't blame all of you in power damaging everything in this country, and having the effontery to lie even when the fact is obvious, oga koko abi wetin you dey call yourself, I work at that onne port the number of vessel coming to both WACT, OMT and brawal has deteriorated badly since last year November with facts and anyone here who works there too can confirm my claim.
FG increased normal cost of duty like x2 or x3, someone is somewhere happy that the cost of $ is going up so he/she would immediately update the customs exchange rate to the present rate as if NCS is aboki fx, forgetting its Nigerians that would bear the cost. You people will just cripple this country with all the bad decisions you make and the cheap annoying lies you tell to cover your failure

this one wey men dey position themselves for power sector like this, like this circle are just getting into power sector with full force, I think power sector will be the next most profitable business in the next 10 to 20 years, coupled with this removing of power from exclusive list to concurrent list/privatisation

They don't want other Southern ports to be operational. It's a well crafted post war policy of the federal government of Nigeria . It's INTENTIONAL. Every year, they will keep talking rubbish about monitoring the ports at Calabar, awarding contracts to study the need to award contracts to build the Ibeno port, or at Port Harcourt. Talk talk talk! They will never do anything to make those ports productive, unless push cones to shove. It's deliberate. This is the main reason why Lagos has become a cash cow for Tinubu.

No investments on the modernization of the Eastern ports. Increased charges on ships plying this route, including mandatory extra insurance. They try to make it look like the Eastern ports are riddled with pirates, yet, most of these obnoxious charges were imposed as far backs as the early 70s. The federal government of Nigeria INTENTIONALLY made it costlier to import through the Eastern ports because they want to concentrate investments in Lagos. That's the reality and it's the fear of Obi changing these undeu advantages that has rilled up the Tinubu brigade.
Guy you know so much about this stuffs and it gives me joy.
They are forgetting that OBJ made fabrics/textile materials and wine contraband in ph port but legal to be imported in lagos port. Now buhari administration deviced another means by bringing the worst corrupt customs officers with the mindset of a high way robbers to ph port with little or no knowledge of customs practice.
causing too much stress and rigorous protocol and procedure, the after effect of the cut throat bribe they take from importers causes rapid inflation in the society
They intentionally crippled the eastern port with their evil policies to make lagos port work more..
let them start by forcing the shipping company to change freight cost to eastern port the same with that of lagos, how can the cost of shipping from china to ph port be like ferighing from china to lagos twice..
Then the should mandate customs and government agencies to replicate the procedures and the same cost of clearance in lagos port to ph port, any officer found doing otherwise should be made to resign an serve 3yrs in prison..Then give Eastern port 6 month and see what will happen

We are into imports. We know the tricks you guys have been playing with the seaports in the East since 1966. You guys are evil geniuses. All the taxes and extra levies that have been imposed both on freight companies and sundry service agencies, have made it costlier for ships to duck at any of the Eastern ports. Every government since then keeps paying lips service to this problem. Because the federal government has made it to be cheaper to clear goods in Lagos, we have to travel all the way from the East to your Lagos to transact related businesses, then truck down our goods to east, with added costs.., with all the insults ofcourse. Allow everyone to flourish in Nigeria, they say no! Ok. Allow others to go their separate ways, you will also say no! That obviously means that the future is pregnant..
this is the only factual write up I have seen on these thread..I am into clearing and forwarding business and I can relate

port harcourt has two ports, onne port and port harcourt port, the two ports are functioning well, but government policies are killing them, they would make some consignment illegal if imported in ph port but legal in lagos port, customs high rate of bribery and unnecessary protocols and procedure in ph port are another problem, not to talk of the federal security agencies and their high bribe too.And then the shipping cost of importing a container to ph port, which could be used to import twice to lagos port..in a nutshell if lagos port harbours 85% ph port harbours 15%
