dettolgel: JAMB didn't receive money from the boy rather from a 3rd party agent that acted as intermediary. JAMB has a rule and the parents are aware of it and broke it. The only thing that could happen to JAMB is a fine for not having a robust system to prevent such candidates from registering.
In fact, JAMB should update their system to ensure that was you enter your date birth and it is below the limit automatically you can not proceed with registration.
For the sake of argument let us assume that JAMB broke the law by collecting his money that doesn't automatically free the parents from their own obligations to the law. JAMB protected themselves by providing a consent and agreement documents that underaged will sign before proceeding to register. The parents already did this before registering. I think a ban is applicable to any underaged Candidate that do not score JAMB approved score for them. Please confirm this info first. |

Some don't even know about the development talk less of preparing for another exam. Time is of the essence. WAEC is ongoing and some of the candidates are involve in both. JAMB further delay will ignite more bike from people. All involve have been contacted his phone yrxt messages. |

CodeTemplarr: Very rare to see a Nigerian do this. The MURIC guy was already celebrating failure of infidels from the south. How are we sure someone somewhere wasnt asked to program it in such a way the glitch affects the SE and SW negatively to allow the other side too shine? You are right in suggesting that. The Prof has been stiff, they cannot get to him. What happed was a syndicate operation targeted to humiliate him from inside. It was not even a glitch. Someone forgot to upload a reshuffling Q&A protocol into the server that embodied Lagos and SE CBT centers. |

TONYE001: When JAMB announced the supposed mass failure of candidates, a lot of persons (including the education minister) opined that the widespread poor performance is because "JAMB had been able to sort out exam malpractice...." [paraphrased].
I argued elsewhere that that was a careless statement coming from the minister. In fact, I considered it a lazy statement. Yeah, it's lazy people that look out for the easiest explanation for things. They hardly think out legit ideas/complex explanations. Many did not agree, but I insisted that we just can't blame exam malpractice as the sole reason here. I strongly stated that there was a need to do a research on the matter...a research involving parents and students, teachers, JAMB and its staff. I mean, in a country where things are the way they are, the minister did not even consider the possibility of an ICT glitch. He did not even reason that most schools do not have adequate ICT gadgets; and that as a matter of fact, prior to the exams, some students may not have been exposed to a computer before. How lazy had he thought about the issue!!!
Yesterday, the Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, came out crying like a crocodile while accepting that there was indeed a massive ICT glitch affecting the SEn states mostly....and Lagos.
What I found most annoying and irritating is the fake cry the Registrar displayed. And to imagine that some people were actually clapping their silly hands as the Registrar spoke!!! The applause was for what again I think he is banking on the gullibility of Nigerians. I see some saying that "at least he owned up to his errors." Soon, others will say that "he was crying na, he was truly sorry.." and that "no man is above mistake." It's the same reason politicians fry akara, roast corn, make hairs, clean gutters, eat with "the poor", and do other rubbish acts during voting periods. How irritating!!!
People, whether the Registrar cried on camera or not, the only sane thing right now is for him to resign!!!! He has failed woefully and caused lots of families emotional trauma. We read here how a student committed suicide. What if that student was affected by this glitch? Eh? Nigerians should concentrate efforts and call for the sacking (not resignation) of Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar. Beyond this, he and JAMB should be sued by the parents of those affected. This is just too embarrassing....and with this, how can Nigerians trust anything JAMB reports as results in the years to come
Now they are talking about re-organizing the exams for some students. Question is, at whose cost would this be? Who would pay for the transportation and accommodation (for those that had to travel a day before)? JAMB wants to expose students and their parents to the risks of the Nigerian highways (accidents, kidnappings, armed robberies, etc) for the second time! The ones that survived the first time, are we sure they would survive this one? JAMB wants to bring students out of their houses as early as 5am (or before) again. JAMB wants to stress hypertensive parents, parents living with heart conditions, etc...again. And, JAMB, of course, would use taxpayers' money to organize the repeat exams. You see, it's only the students and their parents that are receiving the pains of re-organizing the exams. What cost would JAMB bear Sacking and prosecuting the Registrar and all ICT leads is a fair cost!!!
Also, the marking schemes of any other JAMB exam should be made public!! And, students should have the right to ask for their sheets if they do not trust the result JAMB gives them. I believe students won't mind if this service costs a token.
Importantly, while CBT is a good move, I think the government can do better. A better initial step is to launch a campaign ensuring that every school has enough computers..not more than 3 students to one computer. Well-qualified ICT teachers should also be employed. For power, schools should be equipped with solar power-generating systems!!! It should be ensured that students are first exposed adequately to ICT before bringing computers into any general exam conducted in the country!!! As a youth corps member over 10 years ago, the school I was posted to had absolutely nothing!! No functional labs, no light....not to even talk about computers!!!
We all wish our country to be better...but when we come online and read about things like this, our hearts become ladened with sadness.
May our country rise to achieve greatness.
Cc: Fynestboi, Richiez, Olawalebabs. You guys are the systemic corruption in Nigeria. It was not a system glitch as you portrayed but a human error. These was a high level syndicate operation. They tried to hit JAMb from outside but found a formidable block, so they attacked from the inside. How can a seasoned surgeon enter the theater without a qualified Anaesthetic expert. Not deploying 2025 shuffling Q&A protocol to Lagos server affecting SE is a no no but was deployed to the rest servers. |

iwaeda: The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has finally admitted that it made errors that affected students’ performance during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, admitted to this during an ongoing press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
Oloyede said, “What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors.”
Recall that out of 1.9 million candidates who sat the UTME, over 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of the maximum 400 marks.
This suggested that over 75 per cent of all candidates scored below 200.
Meanwhile, some affected candidates threatened to initiate a lawsuit against JAMB.
Details later…

Jamb should make their portal more secure in order to prevent such and ensure that students scores are not affected by any such manipulation It is an algorithm I think. If you try to compromise it will misbehave. Once Jamb verifies this, all affected candidates will be rescheduled and the cbts owners will be jailed. That is their T&C. |

Intellectually, they're empty. They want JAMB to lower its standard and allow Miracle/ Special centres. Bunch of lazy teens/ youths. Exactly the problems. I took my son to his JAMB center early, we started final review. I was reiterating to him how we prepared, answering questions, selecting keys, etc. These candidates gen z were there pressing tik took, Facebook, doing live videos and so many with their phones, my son left his phone at home on my recommemdation that it will distract him.
