lionel4power: First things first, I would like to congratulate the Nigerian Armed Forces for their partial success in combating Boko Haram, however that is subject to the validity of Mr Muazu's statement. To what extent, when evaluated, are the allegations by Mr Muazu true? Well, I will assist you in answering that question. I submit this with full confidence that the statement by Mr Muazu is not true. What Mr Muazu stated at the Nigerian Army Inter Brigade Competition is propaganda driven. The setting of where he delivered his speech is truly indicative of the nature of why he stated what he stated. It was a ceremony, and it is common cause that in ceremonies and what could be termed as 'joyful events', emphasis will only be attached to the good aspects of a cause. In this instance, much emphasis was placed on the successes of the Nigerian Armed Forces' fight against Boko Haram. The consequences of such emphasis, not only down plays the nature and reality of the war, but creates the impression that Boko Haram has been defeated. The intended effect sought to be achieved was to encourage, for purposes of morality, the armed forces and to keep the public away from the notion that they are still prone to Boko Haram attacks. In addition to propaganda, the statement of Mr Muazu, in part and whole contradicts the idea he portrays. The idea portrayed being that Boko Haram has diminishing capabilities. In my understanding army officials ought to know that war is unpredictable, Mr Muazu makes it a certainty that Boko Haram "can no longer engage Nigerian" and in fuelling the confusion further he states that Boko Haram altered its tactics into hitting soft targets. Now, one asks, what was Mr Muazu referring to as "soft targets"? Is it the civilians or Soldiers? If it is the civilians, then the image he portrays that the powers of Boko Haram in terms of civilian attacks have decreased is false, reason being that Boko Haram is still consistent in their mission and that further implies that the Nigerian Armed Forces are failing in meeting the objective of protecting the public. If it is soldiers, then the image created that Boko Haram can no longer engage soldiers is false. I would also like to put to the table, although it might seem irrelevant for now, the truthfulness of Nigerian Armed Forces officials. From the insurgency's inception, the Nigerian Army has been down playing the impact of Boko Haram and misleading the public in certain aspects of the war. Now, one asks whether is this also part of the tactics of the Nigerian armed forces to down play the impact of Boko Haram? There are many answers that come to play. However, this is strongly relevant and would be a significant contribution of my submission but I will not delve deep into it. In conclusion, the statement of Mr Muaza is invalid as it is propaganda driven and embedded with contradictions. The notion that the Nigerian Armed Forces are winning the war against Boko Haram might be true and it can also be false, whatever the case may be Mr Muazu's statement(in my view) cannot be used as evidence to support the idea that the Nigerian Armed Forces are winning the war against Boko Haram. 1 Like 1 Share |

ddami: It is clear that you and your companion(lezz) want to start a family in South Africa so your children can have a brighter future. However the things you say here in an attempt to hide your true feelings about South Africa are the reasons as to why some of your brother were and are killed in South Africa. How could you disrespect a nation which you don't belong to and expect them to take it lightly and not strike back? |

lezz:. The funny part is that you turn a blind eye to negative factors influencing Nigeria economically, socially and politically. It can also be argued, and proven on a balance of probabilities that Nigeria also suffers greatly from, inter alia, inequality. However, the onus of prove is on you, this is because by stating that the South African economy is controlled by the minority you tacitly imply that the Nigerian economy is controlled by the majority. The majority being indigeonous Nigerians. It should be borne in mind, as a matter of common cause, indigeonous Nigerians refer to black or African people historically identified as Nigerians and are presiding in Nigeria. With regards to the issue of Nigeria being or not being a democratic state remains a question of fact. Firstly, there needs to be a; clear definition of what is democracy, what legal machanism gives effect to democracy, how is it observed practically so. With the aforsaid, this leaves us with a presumption that Nigeria is not a democratic country. However, this presumption is rebuttable upon evidence satisfying the criteria provided. |

Well, well. About a year ago, the same people claiming Boko Haram captured or does not occupy any town/s in Nigerian territory are now talking about "Nigerian town/s liberated from the occupation of Boko Haram''. Another thing is, to support their claims, that they are winning, they use reference to their ''own' General's statements", and I suppose nothing is subjective about that, right? Another point proven, for quite some time it was debated here that Nigeria needs outside help to defeat Boko Haram, but again Nigerians disagreed, look who's getting helped now and there's much more progress since Nigeria is no longer the sole contributor in combating Boko Haram. Oh, and that dude Agubugu, your pathetic man, you were once a good debater and now there's no longer any substance in your posts, what happened? |

What amuses me is that we are comparing a war-time country(Nigeria), which is most likely to acquire more military assets and strengthen security, with a peace-time country(South Africa). From what has been debated, I can conclude that war-time South Africa will/would be superior to war-time Nigeria and the whole of Africa at large. Currently, South Africa does not see the need to go all out like the Nigerian government. The issue about the JF-17 is vague, there can only be solid arguments once it is operational in the Nigerian Air Force. What surprises me is that, when @MikeCZA, @patches..... bring up the Mokopa missile, A-darta, Ground Based Umkhonto missile, Badger, Mangoose etc People jump to say "It is not in service yet", but now they are talking as if the JF-17 is in service. So, till the JF-17 is in service, then the matter of who has the strongest air force in terms of fighter capability may resume, till then this argument is baseless. 1 Like |

EVarn:There's nothing new about these news, just look at the date on that News article(image) he posted. It is hypothetically impossible to deduce which military is most secretive. About NAF manufacturing their own jets, LOL, I'd like to see that happen with Nigeria's financial situation. |

HandOfChukwu: 1.If you eradicated the apartheid as you claim there would be no major inequality problem, you fool. 2.Thousands of whites live off Nigerian oil? But all 3 plus million whites living in South Africa are living of your peoples blood and slave labor, which is worse? 3.The link to the top 10 African schools you posted doesn't even work but neither does your brain so I'm not surprised, and it is a well known FACT that Nigerians are the most educated people in the world, not just in Africa. 4. I never said South Africa is home to the second dullest brains, I said South Africa is home to the DULLEST of them all according to the world renown World Economic Forums annual data.I will not text much, "A fool lives his life thinking he is wise, and a Wiseman lives his life thinking he is a fool", so go on gorilla man beat your chest with your smartness. |

HandOfChukwu: Yes, it has definitely damaged their mental capacity to behave like normal human beings, that's why they are the least educated group of people on EARTH. They are also cowards for allowing the whites to keep the wealth they stole off of them while 16 million plus South Africans(all black) live in dirty shacks with out electric and have to sh1t in holes while the whites are sitting in big lush houses in the black mans land. I will never respect South Africans for that, I can't take anything they say serious.Who has mentioned, in any instance, that we have no challenges? Apartheid was eradicated 20 years ago, and you expect us to have eliminated the inequality problem? Yes, white people endure luxury, so what? If one desires so he/she will achieve it regardless of skin colour. The irony is that, thousands of white people live in luxury houses and live fancy lives off money generated from Nigerian oil, what do you have to say about that? The other funny part is that, you and your source(questionable source) state SA is the second "dullest brains" but South African schools dominate the "Top 100 African schools", not even one Nigerian school is in the Top 10. http://www.stalbanscollege.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/The%20African%20Economist%20Ranking%20of%20Africa's%20Top%20100%20Schools.pdf 1 Like |

In all honesty, I think the communist system(with few refurbrished legislations) would be way greater and efffective than the democratic system. Those who support the USA, I suppose you also support the sect groups haunting Nigeria, Kenya and the middle east. During the period where Russia invaded Afghanistan, remember who trained the Al-Mujihadeen group with terrorist tactics? The USA. From the Mujihadeen, Bin Ladin departed to form Al-Qaeda, Maulvi Jalaluddin Haqqani departed to form The Haqqani network and due to opposing ideologies a group of youths in the Mujihadeen departed to form The Taliban. Decode the pattern of this tree, eventually you will realise the true father of all terrorists. The same US, that milks our treasures beneath our soil then leaves the crumbs for us to fight for, yet you still support them? |

unapologetic: South Africans and their appalling lack of manners. I've gone through nearly all the comments and South Africans seems to be confused or ill-informed. Comparing the Nigerian army to the South African is a big insult.. It's so funny that the lazy black guys are actually the ones fighting on here when the Nigerian Airforce trained their forefathers. Am sure they can read it on their defence website if they are not blind. If the Nigerian military is the definition of a real military, then SANDF is a rag tag army. This means a real military lacks skills, equipment, political will, fighting will, co-ordination, morals and values, humanity and has a poor leadership. In that case, ''Who has the strongest military in Africa?'', Nigeria ranks number one, and South Africa with Egypt rank last. |

HandOfChukwu: I'll tell you what an AFRICAN is, an AFRICAN is a man or woman who can trace all of their known history back to the African continent, which means you MUST be black, you MUST speak an AFRICAN language, you must not be the descendant of racist white Dutch settlers who came to rape, pillage and destroy AFRICA, in addition to refusing to embrace any form of AFRICAN culture to this very day, all while expecting the native Africans to respect and adopt theirs. In some of the police pics posted in this thread I see they have their afrikaan language written on buildings in large text with no Zulu or Xhosa wording to be found, if that's not disrespectful, what is?They're still South Africans, they contribute to our own economy. Don't let emotions rule over logic, Nigeria barely owns 8% of its economy. They write in Afrikaans because many South Africans were taught to read and write in Afrikaans back then, not Zulu nor Xhosa. So, I see pictures of Nigerian buildings names written in English, and Nigerians driving cars, since cars and English aren't Nigerian does that mean the British are disrespectful? Afrikaans is an African language, so that makes Afrikaners Africans. Africans are black? What the Egyptians? Aren't they Africans? 1 Like |

How African is African? The Dutch came here 300+ years ago, through living and adapting to the environment of Africa, they developed a culture "Afrikaners" when translated is "Africans". All Afrikaners in South Africa were born in South Africa, hence they're Africans. What makes a European a European, is it his/her skin colour? Or his/her culture. There's something that our counter parts are forgetting, we just attained democracy and "freedom"(in 1994). This means the people responsible for change are those born in 1994 upwards, and currently most of them are doing their second year in tertiary. It doesn't bother me if the white population "controls 83% of our economy"(of which you cannot prove in any case), it doesn't matter whether the cat is black or white if it can catch a mouse, then it is a good cat. Although racism still exists in some parts of society, the majority(black, white, Indians, Chinese etc.) live in harmony. |

agaugust:Now would you look at that, the pot calling kettle black. I bet 100% black Nigerians discovered oil, 100% black Nigerians own all those oil and gas resources, those top companies. When it comes to slavery my friend, no African country is free. Neo-colonialists are the masters of all economies Africa has to offer. So before you call others slaves, check your country's status first. With South Africa being with Brics, means that we are Neo-colonailists to Nigeria. So, who's the slave now? |
