The bikers can operate in the rural areas. Even in some states like Rivers, bikes still operate in places as Oyigbo, Choba and other surburbs of the state with the exception of PH city.

This is a most welcome development. Our decent cabs/buses will dominate the major cities..

The Anambra State Government has directed the restriction of all private and commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators from the major expressways in the State from Monday the first day of June, 2015.

Accordingly, all motorcycle and tricycle operators in the State will from next week Monday be barred from plying the Enugu- Onitsha and Onitsha - Owerri expressways. Similarly, it will be illegal for all motorcycles either private or commercial to ply the following designated roads in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi:

In Awka, the roads are: Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Arthur Eze Avenue and Ziks Avenue. For Onitsha, the roads are: Onitsha-Owerri expressway, Awka Road, Borromew-Upper Iweka-Bridge Head road, Old and New Market Roads and Oguta Road. In Nnewi, they are: Nnewi- Nnobi road and Nnewi - Oba road.

All Commuters who must ply these restricted roads are by this announcement advised to use tricycles or the taxis and buses provided by the State Government and other commercial vehicle owners.

Law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance to this directive. Any motorcycle or tricycle operator caught violating this directive will have his motorcycle or tricycle impounded, retrievable by the payment of a fine of five thousand Naira for motorcycles and ten thousand Naira for tricycles for first offenders.

Subsequent arrest for a second violation of this directive will attract outright confiscation of the motorcycle or tricycle by the State Government.
Lastly, all motorcycle operators in the State are by this announcement restricted from carrying more than a Passenger on a trip.

Take it or you leave it, Awka is the most beautiful and most modern city east of the niger presently. If you have been to Awka recently you will need not an oracle to tell you that it is a huge construction site. Maybe you are talking of older part of Awka although the roads are being expanded too but the newer part of the city is mouth-watering with well paved roads and decent accommodations. Below are some of the inner streets. You can take that to the Hagues!

I have been to all the cities and States of the East of Niger, I can tell you that the effect of the shady deals by the town planners who managed the city design from 1991 to few years ago is one that looks insurmountable.
I remember that opposite the Government House was earlier marked for Recreational Parks and golf parks
Another area was also marked for the same purpose at Amawbia along the express way.
Now, Mbadinuju was cowed to abandon the former for What they now call the Abuja Estate
And Obi, the latter for part of Ngozika Estate. Sometimes, I ask myself whose interest those town planners were serving or they just wan' to make money at Government expense
Most part of present day Akpaka Forests supposed to be a portable forests reserve for Onitsha area is now overtaken by buildings
And what of roads inside Awka some which can barely pass two vehicles side by side

Awka is the most beautiful and most modern city east of the Niger at the moment. Awka has the most modern and beautiful well-laid out estates, Dubai like flyovers, malls, resorts, some of the best hospitality etc. You can take that to the Hagues!

Was at commissioners' quarters Ifite-Awka last Sunday, that area was the bomb. Would've snapped pix but was in a hurry, never been to that part of Awka. Anyone around there could please upload some pix of its skyline for others to see.
Awka would definitely rival Owerri and Enugu soon.

The skyline of Awka is just bomb. This is the most beautiful city east of the niger. Apart from Abuja, the most modern buildings and architectures are found in Awka. With the ongoing flyovers/tunnels, malls, resorts etc it is very easy for Awka to become the Dubai of Nigeria. Obiano was right afterall..

Mr. Ubah had on Sunday promised to open his facility to “approximately 400 trucks of petroleum products” because “of to the immense hardship witnessed by Nigerians following the suspension of loading activities in all depots”.
In Lagos, Capital Oil is selling fuel at N87.

The entire country has been hit by an unprecedented fuel crisis that has grounded the nation’s economy with banks, telecommunications firms and media organisations limiting their hours of operations.

Capital Oil and Gas Ltd had on Sunday commenced the loading of 13 million litres of petrol from its depot in Apapa for distribution to the various states to reduce the current scarcity.
The Chairman of the company, Ifeayin Ubah, told journalists in Lagos that more than 2,000 trucks would be loaded before May 29 to boost the country’s economic activities.

He said the company’s facilities had the capacity to load 13 million litres of the product within the period.
“This comes to approximately 400 trucks of petroleum products on daily basis. With this, it is our belief that once again our citizens will begin to smile and return to normal family and work life.
“We call on other petroleum marketers to follow suit and save our nation from this impending economic and social crisis,’’ he said.

Gov Obiano commissions State Office of Bank of Industry, additional Plant for Sabmiller Breweries



Governor Willie Obiano says his administration has since its inception, sustained the tradition of encouraging businesses and investments in the State by putting in place adequate measures and policies that help reduce their cost of operation. Governor Obiano stated this when he commissioned the State Office of the Bank of Industry in Awka.

Governor Obiano who noted that the State is blessed with citizens renowned for their resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit and industry, said the support his administration is providing to Small and Medium Scale Businesses will ensure that the ingenuity of the Anambra man is brought to the fore.

He described the Bank of Industry as a major partner with the State Government in the realization of industrial revolution in the State, adding that the establishment of the State Office will bring the numerous packages of the Bank closer for the people to access them. The Governor assured the Bank of the support of his administration towards the achievement of its vision in the State. Earlier, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr Rasheed Olaoluwa explained that the establishment of the Office was in furtherance of the Bank's partnership with the State Government as well as the need to avail Ndi Anambra improved Development Finance Services. He commended Governor Obiano on the giant strides his administration has achieved in the socio-economic development of the State, adding that the Bank is poised to complement the effort by improving the quality of its service delivery and developmental impact in the areas of wealth and job creation. In a similar development, Governor Obiano yesterday also commissioned the additional plant of the Sabmiller Breweries located at the Industrial Harbour Layout, Onitsha.

The additional Plant is part of the main facility established in 2009 with a capital base of 100 million US Dollars, in which the State has an equity share of 10%. Performing the function, Governor Obiano said a major focus of his administration is to support investments with the potential to grow the State Economy and create employment opportunities for the State Youths. The Governor who observed with satisfaction, the rapid growth which the Investment has achieved within a short period, attributed the feat to the investment-friendly created by his administration and assured that his government will do more.

The Managing Director of the Company, Mr Simon Harvey who noted that the State has yielded the second largest market in Africa for the Company's products, said the Company has created over 500 direct jobs and over 2000 indirect ones for Youths in the State while numerous indirect commercial support services have been availed the people. The Chairman, Board of Directors of the Company and Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Obi Nnaemeka Achebe revealed that the Company is floating the Hero Foundation for Youth Empowerment as a way of giving back to the Society. The Governor and his entourage later embarked on a facility tour of the Plant.
