Try to form at least a hundred words wit INTERNATIONAL |
Okay try this. I'm something, you throw away the outer part and cook the inner part, then you eat the outer part and throw away the inner part. What am i? |
@ rubrics, i dont think thats the correct answer to the dry and wet riddle. The correct answer should be towel. @ drharry, the answer is your name. |
Sorry pips, been kinda very busy so i couldn't post a reply but i guess donimali already did- she was only trying to thread a needle. See how dirty your minds are? |
You know now.
|
I'm sorry i've not been able to continue wit the gettiers problem topic, been kinda busy. Just give me some few more hours and we'll have more posts. Still having the write-up scrutinized. |
The problem wit african especially nigeria hiphoppers or rather rappers, is that they had a late start to this thing and they got influenced by wrong pple like rickross, 50, wayne etc, forgettin that these guys are really rich not that they just talk about them. Heard someone talk about OD, dont know if the guy has a new one out but the last ones i heard from that guy sounded too basic and elementary. I cant wait for these pple to one day grow up and start to do something nice. |
Thanx bouz, the place i'm in right now doesn't help. The radio stations here are bullsht so the only place i get to get updates is dstv and you know if they dont have the video out yet then you cant see it. I think the breds need to come together once more, that streethop joint was hot. The top solo hiphop heads should come up wit more collabos. |
I HAVE LEARNT THAT sometimes you have to put the individuals ahead of their actions- thats why i wont blame aasu for leaving at home for three months. We dont have to change friends if we understand that friends change- decided to wait for my old friends to change their ways instead of lookin for new unpredictable ones. Two pple can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different- so i wont argue wit my friends who's to blame for this strike or who's the better of MI and mode9. Writing as well as talkin can emotional pains- that shouldn't be new to landers. Either you control your attitude or it controls you- epi, take a cue from that. Its taking a long time to be who i want to be- guitarman was right in dream. No matter how got and steamy a relationship maybe at first, the passion fades wit time- my girlfriend no longer tells me 'i love you' at the end of every phone conversation. Heroes are pple who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences- rip fawehinmi. You should always leave loved ones wit loving words, it may be the last time you see them- i love you mom, but someone should have warned me that i might return from school and not see you again. |

@ rubrics, yours is dirtier, but that doesn't answer my question. Try harder. @ madea, coughing or coffin? |
if you however have any question on african philosophy buggling your mind, be assured you can get answers to them detailedly here. |
Oluschenco, getting african philosophy textbooks depends on your present location. There's a vast array of texts by both african and non-african scholars i can recommend for you. But if you're somewhere close to where i'm, i can get you some myself. Right now i'm in ado. You can also visit libraries to find books by bodunrin etal. You can also be on the look out for journals by philosophy departments of various universities, they're always rich. |
GETTIER'S PROBLEM (DEGETTIERISING KNOWLEDGE) we start our long journey of discussing philosophy wit epistemology, one of the core areas of the course. Epistemology deals wit the nature, sources and limits of knowledge. It is primarily concerned wit propositional knowledge- that is knowledge that such (and such is true), rather than other forms of knowledge. Propositional knowledge has always been held as 'justified true belief' (JTB), our aim here is to look at the implication of maintaining this stance. There is a vast array of views about propositional knowledge, but one virtually universal presupposition is that knowledge is true belief but not mere true belief. For example, lucky guesses or true belief resulting from wishful thinkin are not knowledge. Thus a central question in epistemology is what must be added to true belief to convert them into knowledge. The historically dominant tradition in epistemology answers that question by claiming that it is the quality of the reasons of our beliefs that converts true belief to knowledge. When the reasons are sufficiently cogent, we have knowledge. This is the normative tradition in epistemology. Just as an action is justified when ethical principles or sanctions are holding it: in an analogy with the normative tradition in ethics. The second tradition in epistemology, the naturalistic, does not focus on the quality of the reasons for beliefs but rather, requires that the conditioni in which the beliefs are acquired typically produce true beliefs. Within the normative tradition, two views about the proper structure of reasons have been developed: foundationalism and coherentism. By far, the most commonly held view is foundationalism. It holds that reasons rest on a foundational structure comprised of basic beliefs. The foundational proposition have autonomous justification that does not depend upon any further justification which could be provided by inferential relations to other propositions. These basic beliefs exhibit knowledge initially gained through the senses or introspection. Since not all knowledge seems to be based on sense experience or rational intuition, some epistemologist claim that some knowledge is innate, still others argue that some propositions are basic in virtue of conversational features. Foundationalist hold that epistemic principles of inference are available that allow an epistemic agent to reason from basic to non-basic propositions. They suggest, for example that if a set of basic propositions is explained by some hypothesis and additional confirming evidence for the hypothesis is discovered, then the hypothesis is justified. A notorious problem with this suggestion is that it is always possible to form more than one hypothesis that appear equally well confirmed by total available data, and consequently no one hypothesis seems favored over all its rivals. Some epistemologists have argued that this problem can be overcome by appealing to features of the rival hypothesis beyond their explanatory power: for example the relative simplicity of one hypothesis might be thought to provide a basis for prefering it to all its rivals. In contrast to foundationalism, coherentism claims that every belief derives its justification from inferential relationship to other beliefs. Some however assign a special justificatory role to those propositions that are more difficult to dislodge from the web of belief. The set of these propositioni overlaps the set of basic propositions specified by foundationalism. |
You'll have to listen carefully to get those kind of songs. You can easily find them on songs by jill scot, skeeter davies, asa etc. If you really want them, believe me hiphop offers that. I mean real hiphop. |
Sorry man, but anger solves no problem in nigeria now, nothing does. And nepa or whatever they are now, you cant be angry wit them now. Tell me, if not for facebook, nairaland, yahoo etc, when last did you get a mail from any of your friend? At least they stil remember to send you mails. The govt? Dont you watch the network news, pls do and you'll see they're trying. At least they give out money even its a from me to you cycle. Aasu, put yourself in their shoes. They taught those ungrateful senators to be who they are today and now they're earning more than their teachers. Parents? Ask your dad, does he have a gsm when he was your age. Does your mom even know what a laptop his? They're just showboating. |
Oh God!!! I'm smelling you guys. Phew! I thought we were done for when back in 07 i saw kolomental won the award for best hiphop and gongo aso this year clinched the same award category at mamas. I took it solely upon myself and my non- understanding, fans of jargons friends laughed at me. Had i been at the award, i'd done a kanye. I must confess i started having hope in Naija music after the likes mode, MI, blaise etc came aboard. I hope we continue to encourage these heads so they fizzle out. I wonder where thoroughbreds are now. I can only find ill'blis. |
I called a friend yesterday looking for help on some logical problems cos i thought i could trust him to give me some suggestions being one of the best in that field but was surprised at the reply i got. He said the last time he opened a book was three months ago. I thought to myself, this was going to be the lot of many nigerian students who feels what should he or she be reading for, so i brought this thread up. At least if we cant read it, we can talk- i mean share the ones we used to have thereby gaining more. Although this thread is strictly going to discuss core philosophical issues, interested non-philosophy student can post reply. Please feel free to ask any question and you can expect prompt responses from me. Also if you dont feel satisfied wit my view, you can bring yours. That's why its philosophy. Core areas of attention will include the four main branches of philosophy- logic, metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. Logic especially is going to have more attention cos that's one of the greatest problems students of philosophy have. Looking forward to meeting the great thinkers. Those who think about thinking. |
Yeah people, the post ume's been postponed indefinitely but nasu had a meeting yesterday and my uncle who went to the meeting didn't come back home until 10pm so i wasn't able to ask him what's up. Let you know the outcome of the meeting later this morning. |
Greatest nigeria students. Its good to see us finally speakin up and ventin our agitations but doin it here does little help. I see a good number of us are behind ASUU but how are we showing it. There was a protest mounted by lecturers last week in ibadan and it was disheartenin not to find students followin them en-mass. Though i wanted to but unable to cos i dont know much places in that city. I also expected us to show our anger before the nigeria- tunisia match, maybe with placards or chants but we do?- blame those superbly super eagles who happen to be the only sector in nigeria now that is not losin. At least they drew instead of lose. Lol. |
Okay pips try this. To make it straight, she pulled it. To make it stand, she rubbed it. To make it stiff, she licked it and to let it in, she pushed it. What was she doing? |
At odi, first you take goat across, leave it at the other end, come back for the vegetable, and after you've dropped it at the other end, you leave it there but take the goat along wit you back to your startin point. Leave it there and go across wit the lion and leave it at the other end wit the veg. Go back for your goat and you're done. |
I think a lotta pple gettin this thin wrong. Guys, pls draw the line btw a greatest rappers, good rappers, and favourite rappers. Where you guys wanna put run-dmc, public enemy, okay tupac but big, i think he should be on the good list. What's all this fuss bout 50, jay, etc, these guys are favorites. If any of the millenium rappers appear, i think it should be shady. This is a list of all times not 1990s and 2000s. Ya'll better start re-shuffling your list. |
Shepe's in the system. Crazy. |
Hey guys. Dont forget kanye was in Naija and its not possible for any outsider to take the Naija brand of white paper bush and not misbehave. Anyways, this guy's apologised, he's human. You know sometimes even among us, when we go for award shows during our secondary or university days we feel some pple deserve an award rather than others and we feel like burstin up. |
Nice piece atreus, how come i'm just reading this. Well better late than never. I just hope we wont have to wait to see it continue the way we waited for paloma and diego on ait then. I dont believe that's what suspense is called. I'll call that hoarding. |
Did you know that elephants are the only kind of animals that cannot jump. They also do not sit or lie down. Even when they sleep, they sleep standing or silhouting |
What's happening here? There no thinkers again? Where's everybody? |
Gab, did you call joseph to give him the scores. I think that might have done nigeria some good. Or at least give the scores to warner, if not joseph himself. |
T'sup vesc, i ain't doing religion here, just talking nigeria. Boko haram brought it up. And like said, isn't it high time we started questioning some things. Not askin questions is one of our greatest banes in this country. |
Why shouldn't i huh? This guy said things i've always said or sometimes mean to say. You know there are some questions we should ask but too afraid to. Why should jesus ask me to accept him as my personal lord and saviour when i can choose not to? You know all this noise about him dying for being the greatest sacrifice? Who couldn't make such a sacrifice when i know i can wake up on the third day and become an eternal immortal hero that will be revered all over the world wealth, age, race and location irrespective. Who even said this guy died? He only fainted or have ever seen any dead man rise again? Only fainted pple do. Okay lets agree he died for me, i thank him for that but numerous preachers claim its free gift. If its free, why should i have to pay again? I mean they say i have to become his friend and if i dont, i'll to hell. Thats not fair. Why should they put me on a condition? I should be able to determine who my friends should be shouldn't i? I think this guy speaks my mind even more. Dont think i'm an atheist, i'm not. I'm just a young innocent boy pondering on why things should be the way they are instead of how they ought to be. I pray to God, even if its only when i have problems. You know thats the way we were brought up in this part of the world- all our problems are spiritual and so we need to find spiritual solutions. Anyways i also pray i make heaven cos if hell is the way they have reported it to be, then i dont want to in there. God forgive us all. Thats one thing i like about the big man, always merciful. Isn't He? |
Sorry ladman, but bro i think those your friends or re they neighbours are wise. You know one of marxism lecturer used to tel me that there is no body that doesn't believe there's God. Sorry to bring that in but i'm tryin to make a point here- there's no Naija that doesn't want nigeria to win that match but any one you see dancing to that defeat, is trying to hide his tears behind that dance. Of course that's what i did so i know. So dont blame those pple, i think they just got tired of crying for nigeria. But can you really blame those super eagles, i think they were superb. Tell me which sector in nigeria is currently workin? Nigeria is a woeful country, so dont blame a group of pple for failin, everythin in this country is a failure. At least they didn't follow the footstep of the minister of education and go to drink beer after the defeat. |
