#TheAjimobiYears - EDUCATION (I) During the Ajimobi Years, major reviews of Oyo state's education policy were made with a clear intention to reposition education for productivity and reclaim its Pacesetter status. As an cogent example, the noticeable surge of excellence in students' performance in the 2017/2018 SSCE, evident in the 100% improvement in average percentage performance from 22.12% (2016) to 54.18% (2017/2018), is a highly remarkable take home from these key reforms that have managed to become legacies: 1. ENFORCEMENT OF 80% ATTENDANCE Enforcement of 80% attendance for all students to ensure their optimum performance in external or internal examinations. Students who fail to achieve the set standard would not be eligible for promotion to higher classes. 2. CANCELLATION OF AUTOMATIC PROMOTIONS Automatic promotion of students in all public secondary is now cancelled. Promotions is based on merit so as “to ensure that quality products are graduated from the public schools.” 3. EXTRAMURAL CLASSES Extramural classes for JSS3 and SSS3 in all public secondary schools. This measure is to add quality time to the teaching periods. 4. EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT LEVY A sum of N3,000 (three thousand naira) will be paid per student on annual basis as Education Development Levy. The payment of the levy will be in three installments of N1,000 per term. 5. NO MORE FREE WAEC REGISTRATION Oyo government has stopped further payment of WAEC registration fees with effect from 2015/16 academic session as decided by stakeholders. “This is as a result of the lackadaisical attitude of students and to ensure commitment of parents to better performance of their wards in external examinations. 6. QUALIFYING EXAMS The state government introduced qualifying examination for ss2 students transiting to the next upper class (SS3 - final year students) so as to ensure that only serious and quality students are presented for the final external examinations.” 7. ZONAL EDUCATION MONITORING COMMITTEES The committees comprised of seasoned educationists, parents and security agents are engaged to “bring to students’ truancy and social ills noticeable within and outside school’s premises to a zero level. 8. ESTABLISHMENT OF SCHOOL GOVERNING BOARDs This has been one of the major wins of the Ajimobi Years. Establishment of School Governing Boards as the State’s Participatory Management of Schools’ Model for the six hundred and twenty eight (628) public secondary schools and the Technical Colleges in the State. #AsiwajuNiWa #TheAjimobiYears #AjumoseEducation

OYO YOUTHS WALK FOR KOSELERI!!! For 7 and half years, the pacesetter State has witnessed an unparalleled level of all round development, breathing fresh air of growth, peace and continuous progress. Considering our antecedent as a people and state, examining our past prior to the inception of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi led administration, juxtaposing it side by side with the current trend of things, it is visible to the blind, and audible to the deaf, that we have since grown far beyond research or statistical information would have projected. Oyo State since 2011 has continued to grow in all spheres, flourishing beyond leaps and bounds under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi; From Agriculture to Infrastructure, from Welfare to Health, from Education to Security to transportation, amongst several others which has continued to experience massive turnaround as a result of the Koseleri effect. Digital and e-governance initiation, and subsequent advancement of such, had and continues to contribute in no small measures to increase in expertise amongst civil servants, with attendant effect on daily duties ease. Installation of CCTV’s across strategic locations also has been of additional help to security agencies in their duty to combat crime, which already has been brought to an all time low. The innovativeness adopted in promoting its restoration, transformation and repositioning agenda had more importantly, encouraged and ensured the continuous influx of investors who are endeared to settle in Oyo state, thereby increasing local employability of citizens, as well as contributing to increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the state. Rapid rural infrastructural development through the establishment of Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) which has spearheaded over 200 infrastructural and community interventions in about 100 Oyo communities. It is worthy of note to also mention the numerous urban infrastructural development, the modern reconstruction of roads that leads into major cities and towns of the state amongst several others. The Koseleri mantra is one fully deserving of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, not because he is the first to win a re-election in the history of Oyo state, but for his unprecedented and all-encompassing achievements which has changed and upgraded the face of governance in the state. He is the modern builder who have raised the bar of governance in Oyo state for his unmatchable and everlasting impact on every aspect of the state, and it is for this reason and more that the youths of Oyo state have come together to celebrate an icon of excellence, a visionary and sound leader as his administration winds down in a few months from now. #OyoYouthsWalk4Koseleri is a walk for peace, development, stability and progress of our dear Oyo State. Fasehun’s demise, big blow to Yoruba race — Ajimobi Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has described the late founder of Odu’a Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, as a Yoruba irredentist who lived and died for the collective interest of the race. In a statement by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, on Saturday, the governor said he received the news of the death of the elder statesman with utter disbelief. While describing the incident as unfortunate and disheartening, he said that it has left a vacuum within the Yoruba nation, which would be very difficult to fill. Ajimobi said, “Dr. Fasehun’s exit is indeed a monumental loss; not only to the Yoruba nation but to the country as a whole. He was a bridge builder and patriot who dedicated his entire life to the unity of Nigeria. “No doubt, his exit has created a vacuum which will be very difficult to fill. He lived and breathed his last for the unity of the Yoruba race and the promotion of an egalitarian society. “As the Founder of OPC, the late elder statesman rallied his fellow compatriots for the emancipation of the Yoruba nation and ensured that the race was given its pride of place in the political matrix of the country. “Papa Fasehun was fearless and irrepressible. Even at the most difficult period in the history of this country, he remained committed to a united and indivisible Nigeria as well as the enthronement of democracy.” For several years, Ajimobi said that Fasehun was an active member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), an organization that was established in 1994 to lead a mass resistance against military rule. Together with the NADECO patriots, the governor said that Fasehun fought for the inauguration of Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, as the President of Nigeria. While commiserating with the family, friends, associates, members of OPC, the Yoruba race and the entire nation on the demise of Fasehun, the governor said that the late elder statesman should be celebrated and not mourned for living a fulfilled life

#TheAjimobiYears - SECURITY If you're an Oyo state citizen, or if you lived and still live in Oyo state, you'd agree, that if there were a Nobel Prize for Security, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state should be an awardee without thinking twice. Oyo state was a garrison of shameless violence, and existing administrations back then struggled to no avail to quench it. However, Governor Ajimobi found a way to become David to this Goliath of insecurity and violence with his three stones of restoration, transformation and repositioning. Today, Oyo state is secure. Without much ado, these below are the facts. 1. The #AjimobiYears saw the prompt set up of many security policies which include the recently recommissioned and refurbished Joint Security Task Force (Operation Burst), the Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSSTF), Swift Response Squad (SRS) Safe City Project, etc, all of which were nonexistent prior to 2011. 2. The #AjimobiYears saw security spend in Oyo state experience an approximate 400% rise from 2011 till date compared to what was obtainable before then. 3. The rate of crime and criminality in Oyo state has seen a cumulative 527% decrease from 2011 till date. 527 percent!!!! 4. As an example, no successful bank robbery has occurred in the past 5 years across Oyo state, with only 1 *attempt* in Ogbomoso, compared to the 21 successful robberies recorded across ten years before 2011. 5. The cases of armed robbery has experienced sharp and gradual reduction from a total 261 cases prior 2011, to 17 cases in 2017. The Commissioner of Police recently attested to the continued reduction. 6. The kidnapping cases have also reduced drastically over the past 7 years; such that, only" 3 cases of kidnapping have been seen in 2017, compared to the 55 cases seen across Oyo state between 2005-early 2011. 7. Cases of grievous harm, felony, auto theft, gun running, street violence, rituals, rival clashes and politically-motivated violence dropped from 1,119 recorded cases between 2003-2010 to just 97 cases in the past 4 years. 8. The #AjimobiYears has seen an increase in the procurement of crime fighting and security equipment for the entire security apparatus; 9 Armoured Personnel Carriers, 122 Patrol Vehicles and 7 power bikes have been newly procured between 2011 till date. 9. Still in doubt, watch video below. #AsiwajuNiWa #TheAjimobiYears #AjumoseSecurity [Figures* SOURCE: Security Agencies via State Security Council Meeting]

Bayo Adelabu? Oh Ajimobi, what have you done??| Akinsiku Oladayo GUEST CONTRIBUTIONS BY QUICKSILVER By the time the electoral commissioner, Demola Seriki, announced the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary on that fateful dawn inside the Lekan Salami stadium on the 1st of October, 2018, Governor Abiola Ajimobi had committed an act, a paradigm, that will forever cause a shift in the political fortunes of Oyo state. A certain Bayo Adelabu emerged from that process as the APC’s governorship candidate in the upcoming elections, no thanks to the ways of the outgoing Governor Ajimobi, who has by this singular action, trumped all other actions that would have been his major legacy as Oyo’s first citizen for 8 years. A certain Bayo Adelabu, a former Central Bank Deputy Governor, and the instrumental Ajimobi (just) watched on as it happened. To understand the enormous nature of this Ajimobi’s critical act, we’ll have to track back a little. In the twilight of the Ladoja – Akala regime(s), politics was played with the currency of sorrow, tears and blood in Oyo state, because violence was the PVC; both wanton and state-sponsored violence. And oh yeah, brigandine and barbaric godfatherism was INEC with a HQ in Molete. It was very bad, some of us experienced it, while some others have seen videos. During this time, every and any individual prodigal, people the Yorubas call “tajá-teran”, signified interest in public offices at all cadre, men and women of quality were few, and it wasn’t unconnected to what held sway inside Agodi at the time; ill-natured amala politics. This particular fact above alienated serious and cerebral minds from Oyo politics, and Oyo people paid dearly for it as the ideal of governance suffered, terribly at that. The obvious lack of qualitative hands directly meant a lack of qualitative governance, so much Oyo and Oyo’s own became a national font of ridicule. But then, Abiola Ajimobi became governor, and he came with this promise of transformation and restoration, a hope to restore the state back to its best and pacesetting ways. I for one, like many, was a skeptic as touching this promise, apparently because other governors before him have failed spectacularly at stopping this menace, as it was clear it would take more than a ‘mere’ political promise to overcome it and restore Oyo’s pride. However, against the gradient of skeptism, Ajimobi actually did a number on this particular promise, standing firm against the dragon of violence-laced and pocket-lacing amala politics in Oyo state, in order to change (read transform) the ridiculous narrative it was being pelted with. He fought an establishment that was used to the status quo to a stand still, at the expense of being hated for it. “Ajimobi ti like details ju!” “Ajimobi o ya owo fun awon boys mo!” “Ajimobi o gba gbere rara. O ti serious ju o jee!”. These examples and likes were the sentences used to describe the new sheriff’s unusual style that favored people over pockets, and performance over power-politicking. Well, one can say it worked indeed. The consequent u-turn and flurry of interest in Oyo politics from ranking professionals wasn’t surprising at all. I mean, any discerning mind would know. Today, without equivocation, the Ajimobi years can be rightly adjudged and weighed in ounces of gold by the sheer quality of men who showed interest to succeed him and keep that drive to the next level. Inadvertently, that unusual, and refined style, mode and code of operation laid a solid foundation for modern politics in Oyo state, a kind of politics that favours performance and efficiency in governance at the expense of violent and ‘share-the-money’ politicking. With a Central Bank Deputy-Governor in Bayo Adelabu, to a global KPMG Partner in Joseph Tegbe, a barrister of upright repute in Niyi Akintola (SAN), an award-winning industrialist in Dr. Olusola Ayandele, a public administration czar in Adesoji Eniade, among others like them all showing interest, any discerning mind will know that Oyo has passed it politically perilous times. During the pre-primary election moves, some of us already had the discretionary conviction that Oyo would be good for it, whoever emerged as the gubernatorial candidate. This came from simply judging from this pool of quality on display. No other state in the southwest had such bliss of men as aspirants, the way Oyo had in the APC, it was a record feat. As expected, we are being proven right if moves already taken by the gubernatorial candidate, Bayo Adelabu, is to be considered. The APC gubernatorial candidate is being applauded across Oyo state for already showing an impressive level of readiness for the job . In most of his ongoing consultations with different groups of Oyo’s own, youths, party leaders, artisans, fellow professionals, community leaders, support groups, market men and women and the likes, Bayo Adelabu reportedly stands on his feet for hours, reeling out his plans, both short and long term, in accurate details and with catching clarity. This is what Ajimobi has done. The quality of people who desired to succeed him becoming a pointer to another thing he got right. His idea-based style of governance ensured that Oyo state got restored to its position as the intellectual and political capital of the southwest; a place where young and vibrant cerebral minds like the great Awolowo, Adegoke Adelabu (Penkelemesi), Ladoke Akintola, etc, all held sway as intellectuals practicing practical politics. Today, the effect of the Ajimobi years is making that a restored reality. Asides it’s impact on the quality of people governing from different cadres of governance, this rare emergence of Bayo Adelabu as APC’s gubernatorial candidate, has brewed a fact that youths, sons and daughters of Oyo state with a tenable form of influence and/or affluence, can no more afford or choose to be politically apathetic. This is such that, the make-up and nature of the Oyo state’s critical mass that now gets involved in governance and politics has been transformed, tuned up really. This, is a major feat, strong and iconic enough to trump every other acts and legacies of Governor Ajimobi as the topmost one. Ajimobi’s prime legacy won’t be his koseleri strides in security, even though he became that governor who was able to look at the beast of insecurity in the face, and boldly enough to tame it. It won’t be in education, even though he successfully kickstarted a revolution of qualitative learning that has seen to the erection of 3 massive model schools that will serve as template for more, and also the set up of Nigeria’s first Technical University in Ibadan. It will also not be his path-breaking strides in infrastructure and welfare, strides which saw him become the first governor to be re-elected for a 2nd term by the people of Oyo state in 2015. Rather, looking back now critically, Ajimobi’s prime long-lasting legacy will be how he became the father of modern of politics in Oyo state; referencing the way he deployed his own refinement to redefine the quality of politics and its players in Oyo state. Gratefully so, a certain cerebral Bayo Adelabu, who has been repeatedly quoted saying he desires to be “a reference to quote regarding excellent governance”, is the face of that redefinition. Without an iota of doubt and with this Ajimobi’s critical act, Oyo state is set to be back to its pacesetting ways; just watch Bayo Adelabu.

#OyoLGworks - Lagelu North LCDA | Igbo-Elerin You will be surprised at the appreciable level of closeness the present government has with the people at the grassroot, especially via meeting their needs. This is not unconnected to efforts of the Ajimobi-led administration channeled towards reaching them through the LCDAs and LGAs. Pictures below show the well-staffed and functional Lagun General Hospital, overseeing 11 other Primary Healthcare centers (PHC), all of which tend to the medical needs of men, women, children, and the aged in the 190 towns, villages and hamlets under Lagelu North LCDA. The present leadership of the LCDA under Hon. Taofeek Arowomole, had also ensured that these communities have easy access to the hospital either via a tarred road or graded roads that were once mere footpaths. Just like all other PHCs under LCDAs, they also enjoy the ₦300,000 monthly drug subvention as obligated by the state government, which contributes to their smooth running. On their lips, the people sing nothing else but APC APC APC! #AsiwajuNiWa

*OYO WILL BE DIGITALIZED* We will explore the mysteries of science and harness the power of technology and innovation. We will realize the opportunities of the digital world. Our youth will learn more from - and with - each other. The world has been moving forward and Oyo State must position itself in order to continue moving forward too. The world has gone beyond the days of manual typewriters, black and white televisions, use of horses for journeying thousands of miles. Technological advancement has brought ease into our daily lives and that's why we must follow the path of development by also advancing E-governance and economic governance. E-governance paves the way for good governance, fast decision making, and proper documentation. Our civil service will be more flexible as files won't be moved from tables to tables. All documents will be stored online and accessed without stress. We will take our time to educate and train all our fathers, mother's, brothers, sisters sons, and daughters who are currently working in the Oyo State civil service across all ministries to be technologically inclined by introducing them to trending software that will make there works easier. To us, Social media is a blessing to all young people and even governance. It has been helping in information dissemination, advertising, publicity among others and we will work more in equipping our youths to globally explore more innovation, inventions and how we can always use it to our advantage. Social media is reducing social barriers. It connects people on the strength of human values, not identities. This is one of the tools of E-GOVERNANCE This E-GOVERNANCE will unarguably help us move forward as a state. Contractors won't be facing the problems of lost or damaged files. This will be a thing of the past. We want to claim our position as the pacesetter state among all the states of the federation. Oyo state has been the cradle of development as it houses almost the first of every good thing in Nigeria and parts of Africa. E-governance is the ideal government system of the modern age. *ADEBAYO ADELABU is the answer * *Penkelemesi Volunteer Corps*

Recession hit, it hit so badly; but, the welfarist approach that the Ajimobi-led administration deployed to wean its effects off Oyo state and its people is exemplary, and should be understudied and copied by other states still struggling with it. This welfarist approach saw to the judicious use of a handsome percentage of the Paris funds and the FAAC for salaries and gratuities, while the state government focused on - 1) boosting the IGR (rose to 8th position within this period out of the 36 states), and, 2) mastering the application of Public-Private-Partnerships - to maintain the rate of infrastructural development and other projects within the state. This above, mostly explains the outcome for Oyo state, in the infographic from an independent source below, coming down from 7-8 months. #AsiwajuNiWa

OYO STATE TAX PAYMENT ENFORCEMENT NOT FOR POLITICAL VENDETTA, EXEMPTS NOBODY — BIR. NEWS BY QUICKSILVER Our attention has been drawn to a misleading statement credited to a purported media aide of a former Governor of Oyo State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, His Excellency, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, in relation to our latest enforcement drive against tax defaulters. We wish to debunk the insinuation in the said statement suggesting that the exercise, including past enforcements, as well as future initiatives were political vendetta targeted at certain imaginary opposition to the ruling government. For the avoidance of doubts, our agency gave ample opportunity and enough notices to tax defaulters to reconcile their records with the board and make statutory payment through advertorials in national newspapers weeks before the enforcement team began the exercise. Since the exercise began, we have shut many financial institutions, companies owned by respected statesmen, private and public entities that have defaulted in tax payment, in order to demonstrate our impartiality. During our last outing on Thursday, we shut many firms and business premises, whose owners were yet to yield to our civil and legal approaches to make them to comply with extant laws and regulations on the performance of their civic obligations. Among these were an event hall owned by the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT); a business plaza known as Ile Itesiwaju; Wemabod, owned by Oodua Investment Company, Carlton Gate Hotel, and NUT Teachers House, among others. Coincidentally, Ile Itesiwaju is said to be owned by HE Otunba Alao-Akala, who happens to be a former governor of the state. When words got to the Governor, His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, about the status of the building, His Excellency immediately directed that we reopen it in order to give the owner more time to reconcile with the Board of Internal Revenue and make the necessary payments. We have since complied with the governor’s directive and business activities have resumed on the premises pending when they will clear the debt owed the state government, as no defaulter is exempted or protected under the law. However, the board will like to emphasis that it will not treat any defaulter of taxes, levies and dues as sacred cow nor exempt any institution covered by the extant law from paying taxes. We want to use this opportunity to again appeal to businesses and individuals still in the breach of tax payment not to wait for our enforcement teams to seal up their premises before they approach our offices to regularize their payments. Signed Bicci Alli Chairman, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue.

JAGABANOLOGY!!! Many politicians and individuals need to study this man and aim to imbibe some of his qualities! 1. Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN was Tinubu's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He is today, Nigeria's Vice President. 2. Rauf Aregbesola was Tinubu's Commissioner for Works. Today he is serving his second tenure as Governor of Osun State. 3. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN was Tinubu's Chief of Staff and successor in office. He is today Nigeria's Minister of Power, Works and Housing. 4. Alhaji Lai Mohammed was Tinubu's first Chief of Staff. He is today, Nigeria's Minister of Information. 5. Babatunde Fowler was appointed by Tinubu as Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service. Today, he is the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service. At the National Assembly, there are countless "Tinubu boys" who have occupied and are still occupying seats till today. Since 1999, the Tinubu camp has produced almost 98% of the members of the National Assembly from Lagos State. Forget politics, this man is a political enigma.Rewind to 1999, I am sure most of us have forgotten the names of the People who were elected Governors then. Some of them have gone out of circulation. Some are gasping for breathpolitically. Indeed, most of them are no longer relevant today. Who still remembers Mbadinuju of Anambra State, Jolly Nyame of Taraba, Segun Osoba of Ogun, Attahiru Bafarawa of Sokoto, Achike Udenwa of Imo, Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom, Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia? That one has even lost two consecutive senatorial elections. But Tinubu has not only managed to remain extremely relevant, he has continued to largely control Lagos politics. Not only that, he manages to carry his boys along and today they occupy critical positions in our national life. Take it or leave it, Tinubu is today, Nigeria's most powerful politician. It didn't just happen by chance. His influence has also spread across Africa! He worked very hard for it. Very very hard. And very smart too. The hallmark of a true leader is not just the ability to rule well but also the ability to nurture and groom his associates. He is the JAGABAN of BORGU and probably of Africa....Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu...many Love him, some love to hate and a lot more hate to love him! He is a master strategist and Nigeria needs more of men like this! Africa too! . . . . . .with Ify Onyegbule

#OyoLGworks - ONA ARA LGA Due to challenges that varied from vandalism, theft, insecurity and wreck, 51 communities within the Akaran district of Ona-Ara LGA, have not had electricity in 14 years. 14 full years! But, this will change by the 17th of October, 2018. Light will lit the homes of citizens in these 51 communities. This is because about 3 weeks ago, the local government, through the leadership of Alhaji Biliaminu Aderemi Ogundele, launched an aggressively interventionist move that involved community heads, community security heads, illustrious sons of Ona-Ara and some bits of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from domiciled companies; an intervention that will ensure electricity is restored for the good of the people. Exactly 2 weeks ago, work began, to the joy of the inhabitants, and on the 17th of October, that joy will rise even higher. #AsiwajuNiWa

Oyo state seats at a commendable 8th position with ₦22 billion (₦22,448,338,825), amongst 36 states in the 2017 Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) ranking. The better news is that the State Government has set an IGR target of ₦112.09 billion for 2018; that's a 400% increase, and the state's been achieving it. The board of Internal Revenue will generate N48 billion, at a monthly IGR target of N4billion, while MDAs will provide N64billion. MDAs tasked to generate revenue are the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, N40 billion; Bureau of Investment, Promotion and Public-Private Partnership to make N2.5 billion, while N2.57 billion is to come from the Health Insurance Scheme, and N2.56 billion from the office of the Surveyor-General. Aside from the ongoing ones, some of the projects that have benefitted from IGR in part, include rehabilitation of Beere-Alekuso-Agbeni-Dugbe, rehabilitation of Oritamerin-Ayeye-Inalende-Mokola road, with spur of Mapo-Oritamerin, rehabilitation of Moniya-Ojutaye-Iseyin road, expansion/rehabilitation of Beere-OritaAperin-Akanran-Gbedun-Dagbolu, expansion/rehabilitation of Apata-Bembo-Olosun, among others. This is commendable, especially considering where the state was prior 2011. #AsiwajuNiWa

Tax default: Oyo govt seals Diamond Bank, Stanbic IBTC, others, in Ibadan NEWS BY QUICKSILVER A lot of banks in Ibadan were this morning thrown into confusion when as early as 9am, Oyo state tax officials stormed some banks in Ibadan, the state capital, sealing off about 20 branches of those banks. A combined task force team of the Oyo State Interministerial Enforcement Unit swoop stormed banks in areas like Dugbe, Mokola, Idi-Ape, Agodi Gate, Secretariat Road, Challenge, Jericho, Bodija, UI among others. Some of the affected banks include, Diamond, Stanbic IBTC, Skye, FCMB, Heritage. Their officers were later seen running helter skelter to straighten out their papers. Some succeeded in tidying up and resuming operations while others remained shut. Customers who were inside the banks as the raid unfolded, including those turned back at the gate, expressed shock and disappointment. It was gathered that the banks were beimg sanctioned for defaulting in the payment of the annual environmental development levy which is said to be payment for the impact of the various business and corporate entities on the environment within the state. Newspeakonline learnt that some of the affected banks had defaulted for up to three years. It would be recalled that the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue (OYBIR), the coordinating agency for collecting all government revenues had last month issued a 14 day ultimatum to all tax payers in the state to pay up all outstanding dues and levies or face the consequencies. The Chairman of the Board, Mr Bicci Alli had warned in the paid advertorial that the agency would embark on massive enforcement to seal up all erring corporate organisations on the expiration of the ultimatum. According to Alli, the enforcement team decided to focus on banks to serve as deterrent to other defaulting corporate organisations, adding that the exercise is continuous.

*“The lesson I learnt from the sojourn in the last seven years that we have been running the government is that one needs to fear God. If one fears God, no matter the curses placed on him, such curse can never have effect on him. And if someone does what deserve curses and people pray for such an individual, the prayer cannot work for such a person. For me, no matter the curses, it can never affect me because I know I’m working for prayers and not curses. I’m serving the people wholeheartedly and I’m happy that God will give us success.” “I never persecute people, but follow the law and stick to it. Those who say you are wrong today, tomorrow they will see. As a leader, anytime you want to make a change, some people, enlightened, unenlightened, ignorant, mischievous will play politics with it. But, a good leader must have the courage to go ahead. If you remember the great Prophet Mohammed, when he was talking about the Almighty God to the people, they sent him away from his hometown. So, anytime we, as leaders, heads of government are trying to make changes, people talk, but we forge ahead, no matter what they say. We will never allow this state to become a banana state. We will not allow it to be an animal farm. If you see any state that is doing well in the world, it is that they have rule of law and they obey them. Everybody must obey the law. So, we thank God that we succeeded because we have adhered to law and order.” - Governor Abiola Ajimobi | August 2018.

REVEALED: 15 truths you didn’t know about the Ibadan City Masterplan BY QUICKSILVER (1) The Ibadan City Masterplan is a consummate urban development plan aimed at charting a modern and new direction of development for the city. (2) The detailed master plan is expected to be submitted by September, alongside the Ibadan Drainage and Solid Waste master plans; these are expected to be developed as a trifecta of master plans aimed at enhancing infrastructural development and future expansion of Ibadan, as well as ending the regime of flooding. (3) The Ibadan City Materplan was designed to internationally-acceptable standards by the Design and Architecture Bureau Consulting Engineers (DAR), in conjunction with the World Bank. (4) The lack of a master plan slowed down the infrastructural and socioeconomic development of the state entirely, while it also contributed to the vulnerability of the city to natural disasters. (5) It is a 20-year development plan. (6) The development of this masterplan was inspired by the August 2011 flooding in Ibadan and those before then, which were triggered by several natural and human factors. (7) The Ibadan City master plan covers the original 11 Local Government Areas of Ibadanland, and took the state’s natural environment, history of flooding, transport, infrastructure, housing and population into consideration. ( It is a reflection of the immediate and future needs of citizens of the city, who are the major stakeholders that were engaged during the process of drawing up the masterplan.(9) This Ibadan City Masterplan will provide sound planning frameworks and foundations to attract investment for existing and new business growth. (10) masterplan will make Ibadan city resilient to stress and responsive to natural disasters, especially flooding episodes for existing and future development areas. (11) It will improve and expand the city’s transport network. while also aiding plans to accommodate the future population growth. For example, to incorporate an intra and inter-city rail system that will take advantage of the existing Lagos-Ibadan rail line. (12) The masterplan will establish the basis for the provision of adequate infrastructure capable of meeting the need of the population. It will also enhance the quality of life for existing and future residents. (13) This masterplan focuses on land use distribution, heritage and tourism, education and healthcare facilities, fire stations and security network, transport network, prevention of flooding and sustainable drainage systems, as well as pedestrian and bicycle networks. (14) The Ibadan City masterplan incorporates how the state can cope with the existing structures and settlements. It will give us legitimacy to remove illegal structures on flood plains, with recommendations for alternatives to street trading, that include a trading axis, neighbourhood markets and the rest. (15) A draft masterplan was presented to the state executive council and stakeholders to receive observations and contributions, all of which will be grafted into a final and robust master plan that will ensure coordinated physical growth, improved socio-economic development and enhanced living standards of residents.

I went by the Music House around 8pm last night on my way from Lagos. The building stood there in all its majesty. Sad this had to happen. There are intricate lessons to be learnt from the demolition. I have decided to take the lessons rather than being emotional. I knew the building will be pulled down if not now then later. If not by this government, then by a later government. Why are we being emotional about this demolition? Oh because it's owned by Ayefele or because it is a radio station? Definitely whichever of the two reasons is not above the law of the land which is subject to a lot of interpretations. Has any one drove from Idi Ape through Bashorun to Akobo? Those buildings pulled down were owned by people like Ayefele. The businesses there employed people too. Oh because we assumed that they were not physically challenged or owned a radio station? When Barrister Lowo Obisesan held away as a Oyo Commissioner, he went about restoring the beauty of the land by pulling down everything that needed to be pulled down thus making Ibadan a beauty to behold. A lot of bread winners were affected. Same FRESHFM supported him back then. So now the chicken has come home to roost. Let's not crucify Ajimobi, Ajimobi has no single power to effect any demolition. The demolition was done by the OYSG. By May 29 2018, Ajimobi would walk away as a private person. The OYSG would always be here with us. Another man would mount the saddle as a Governor. Governance would continue. Our dear UCH lost its fence worth about N12million to that road in front of the Hospital. I doubt if we have been paid for it. This is an opportunity for politicians to score cheap points. I'll rather these politicians come together, pulled resources together and build another befitting Music House that in years to come would not fall 'foul' of government environmental laws. Government is like Management. Decisions are taken a times that we do not understand and feel shouldn't have been taken. But the government like the management still has to take a decision irrespective of whose ox is gored, irrespective of if we like it or not, irrespective of if it favors us or not. A government or management who lacks the will to take a decision has no moral latitude to be called a government or a management. However, if like it's being guessed that the demolition was to silence the opposition, then too bad. There area about 27 other radio stations in Ibadan alone. I seriously doubt if OYSG will want to muzzle the media. They told me this has been on for 7 years that Akala out of impunity bent the rules and roads for Yinka and no way it will not haunt him forever. Now a demolition of a year was sent to him to come rectify the adjustment.he refused. At the expiration of d 1 year.they served a 3days notice on him which expired on wednesday. The buldozer did not come that day only for yinka to rush to sue the government on thursday.Meanwhile courts are on break and case yet to be heard.no court injunction served.Yinka and his fans continued to sentimentally insult Ajimobi and even Dapo Lam Adesina was at the station yesterday bashing Ajimobi. He now went ahead to pull down the illegal structure in question and not the entire building. Now egbon what is on that land that yinka is scared to leave. Remember his scandal with Erelu Agbaye who claimed they gave him fame. Yinka could have gone to Akala to help intervene and relocate him to another place.!!!!!! |
The most annoying thing to me is that Ayefele did not mention it to all of us that that he was served demand notice on June 2017, and four other notice followed till August 2018. He refused to respond or adhere to the directives of OYSG. As we all know if a property owner refuse to respond to govt demand notices, then govt will have to take action. As for the case being in court, all we heard was that he went to court, but the court did not serve the govt any injunction. In fact, the 7 days ultimatum given by govt elapsed last week Wednesday according to report. All he was asked to do was to submit his plan for review, and he refused. Now he's weaving public sympathy and sentiment around the whole issues without telling why he defiantly refused to follow govt order. |

It is a reflection of the immediate and future needs of citizens of the city, who are the major stakeholders that were engaged during the process of drawing up the masterplan.
