Politics / What We Should Know About Home Grown School Feeding Program by scoty2910: 6:21am On Nov 30, 2017
1) Its a Federal Government Program,, and its from the office of the Vice President, if you need enquiries that is where to focus

2)The FINANCING, is HANDLED from the Federal

3)Because Federal government dont have the capacity to create a New or Fresh establishement for the "SOCIAL ECONOMY INTERVENTION", They make use of the existing ones, Ministry of Education, Ministry of women affairs, etc. Just to save cost

4)State Ministries of Education handles the recruitment of Vendors, statistics, logistics , man power, and with out any or much financial boarding on the Federal government that this type of program would have.

5)Its important to note, in all public primary schools, there were food vendor program, But Governor Isiak Ajimobi insisted opportunity for political women of about 70%,( So if this is not handled well, all our women politicians will go back to the usual,,,,,,,,,,,?

6)There is no way the State Government, the ministry of Education or any individual can sit on vendors money,, anybody that joins in saying this is just displaying " ignoramus"lol,, I believe we should ask question first before we conclude on any issue.

7)The issue of Aggregator, that is those that supplies, Eggs, Bread, and meat,,, The food program is designed to be in form of a circle-chain,, the contract is handled at the Federal level but in agreement with the State government, also, payment is done at that level too.

coolTo a program of this magnitude, challenges are expected,, "my thinking is that both the state and Federal didnt take into consideration the " Political angle of challenges" that may happen,, and that is the most important aspect to look into.
To this House, our responsibility is to give it all the necessary surport to make it a success.

Because of the nature of this program 'food in take' we should not allow politics to be played with it.

In conclusion:
I will plead to those that can intervain meaningfully for the success of the program for our party APC to pls do. With all the propaganda flying about if it gets too much there is every possibility it will be stopped from Federal.

Instead for allowing some opposition minded individual for personal political ambition displaying "Radically" in the house of Assembly on a program they know nothing about.
Thank you for your time

Oyo releases 245 Electronic C-of-O, dismisses Ad-hoc staff at town planning offices

Oyo State Government on Friday disclosed that 245 Electronic Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) are ready for collection at the State Ministry of Land, Housing and Survey.

Also, the government announced the dismissal of all ad-hoc staff at various State Town Planning Offices, directing that they should vacate the premises immediately.

The State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Survey, Mr. Ajiboye Omodewu reiterated that the state government has moved from analogue Certificates of Occupancy to electronic ones for efficiency and technological advancement.

The commissioner stated that the electronic C of O has security features and encrypted security code which is unique to the owner, adding that the picture of title holder would appear on it with the survey plan of the land printed at the back of the certificate in order to prevent fraudulent productions.

Omodewu urged the members of the public to take advantage of the electronic of C of O to have proper title documents, noting that this protect land owners from land grabbers.

Speaking on the activities of Ad-hoc staff, the Director-General, Bureau of Physical Planning and Development Control, Tpl Waheed Gbadamosi stated that they were issuing fake receipts and bank tellers to unsuspecting members of the public, as well as posing as Town Planning Officers at the various Town Planning Offices in the State.

Politics / Redesign Nigeria's Education Curriculum To Create Entrepreneurs-ajimobii by scoty2910: 7:34am On Nov 04, 2017
Redesign Nigeria’s education curriculum to create entrepreneurs - Ajimobi

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has called for a redesign of Nigeria's education curriculum towards producing entrepreneurship-driven graduates for the economic development of the country.

Ajimobi spoke while receiving the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Paul Arkwright, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Ibadan, on Friday.

The governor, who hinged his call on the current education system which, he said, was civil service-oriented, said an entrepreneurship-driven system would help create jobs and reduce high rate of unemployment among the teeming Nigerian graduates.

He expressed the regrets that in spite of the enabling environment being created by government for job creation, most youths were still busy looking for white collar jobs.

The governor said: "Youths constitute about 60 percent of our population and we need to concentrate on making entrepreneurs out of them.

"Unfortunately, the education system we are operating in Nigeria today appears to be supportive of civil/public service.

"No fewer than two million youths hit the job market every year whereas the current reality is that government cannot create all the jobs for this vast population. Iit can only create the enabling environment for people to create jobs.

“We must, therefore, encourage entrepreneurship and skill acquisition for people to be able to work on their own.

Ajimobi sought the support of the British Government in his administration’s efforts at  developing middle-level manpower through the newly established Technical University, Ibadan.

He also said that the state would be looking forward to more collaboration with Britain in the areas of commerce, agriculture, youth empowerment and technical education.

In his remarks, Mr. Arkwright said his home government was keen on creating business opportunities in Nigeria with a view to promoting trade relations between the two countries.

He said that the British Government has done so much to support the Nigerian Government to grow businesses and promote trade relations.

The envoy said he was in the state to facilitate the development of a link between the state and his home government as well as to explore the business opportunities in the state, especially in the area of agriculture.

Arkwright said British experts would be visiting the state to explore available opportunities in agriculture and other areas of economic importance.

He said: “The increasing population of the state also demanded the creation of additional job opportunities, particularly among the youth in order to put a stop to restiveness and other vices among them,”

November 1, 2017 admin

No fewer than over 5000 members from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Wednesday decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state

Leading thousands of supporters at a general meeting of the Olusegun Odebunmi Political group in Iresa, Ogbomoso, a member of the National Assembly, Hon Segun Odebunmi representing Surulere / Ogo Oluwa Federal constituency said his resolve to move to the party was influenced by the decision of his people  and political associates.

According to the only PDP candidate that survived the 2015 political tsunami, Odebunmi, “since my early days in politics I have not been taking decision on my own,  apart from God, my people are the next and they have been very supportive so whatever they say I do.

“Immediately we discovered that the leaders in PDP are not ready for genuine reconciliation I told them to interface with people and decide on where to go and that is the result of  what we are doing today and I am sure that our movement to APC will bring more goods and development to our people”, the lawmaker assured.

Declaring support for President Mihammadu Buhari’s second term bid, the two time PDP lawmaker stressed “I want to believe that the government will bring desired transformation to Nigeria”.

Also speaking at the public declaration, Chief Isaac Olawale Atayese who was the coordinator for Ogo Oluwa PDP Committee for registration disclosed that the need to leave the party is necessitated by the injustice and unfair treatment meted out to them after the reconciliation at the state.

Atayese said, “those who returned to the party  have hijacked the system and refuse to give us breathing space.

“In the face of struggle we waited and won election, we were not consumed by the tsunami that affected many people but the only way to compensate us is to relegate us to the background.

“They don’t allow internal demoracy to work on the party, they are encouraging impunity and we cannot be part of it anymore, we need a new party to move on”, he lamented.

Oyo State Government Seals 4 Hospitals For Prescribing Banned Drugs, Non-Registration

HEALTH BY QUICKSILVER

In its bid to sanitise the private health sector, the Oyo state’s Task Force on private health facilities on Friday sealed a hospital in Apete area for prescribing analgin for a patient.

The task force, which got to the hospital, operated by a community health extension worker, found out that the patient was being administered with the banned drug, alongside other four other painkillers and four antibiotics by intramuscular routes.
The male patient who is a civil servant had initially made a deposit of N10, 000 at the hospital for treatment of fever.

The task force later sealed the hospital after referring the patient to the nearest government hospital.

Also visited by the task force were nine other health facilities and medical laboratory services.
The task force after visiting the facilities closed three other hospitals for offences such as non-registration of the premises, unhygienic hospital environment, improper disposal of medical wastes and failure to have qualified medical staff on ground.

Chairman, Oyo State Task force on Private Medical Practice, Dr Adebisi Ayoola while speaking, noted that no hospital was expected to give analgin, adding that what was being done at the affected hospital was more of a guess work.

“There are rules and regulations for all private health facilities; and no hospital is expected to administer drugs through intramuscular route,’’ he said.

According to him, although nurses and community health workers were allowed to register and operate a health facility, they must not practice beyond what the law stipulated.

Politics / What PPP Is In Oyo State by scoty2910: 3:57am On Oct 28, 2017
A Public –Private Partnership (PPP) is a cooperative arrangement between public and private sectors, typically of a long-term nature. The core essence of the agreement is usually to deliver more social infrastructure or corporate governance to the door steps of the people.

In other words, PPP is a governance mechanism which covers hundreds of different types of innovative long term contracts between government and the organized private sector with a wide range of risk allocations, funding arrangements and transparency requirements.

Actually, public administrators and political scientists usually view PPP as a policy brand and a useful tool for governments to achieve their objectives.

In Oyo State, the case is not different. The PPP template has brought a lot of socio-economic and infrastructural development to the State, especially in the agriculture, solid minerals, tourism, education, women affairs, infrastructure, health, commerce, trade and investment sectors of the Oyo State economy.

The impact of PPP in the state is so huge that, it is strategic and central to the creation of new businesses and opening up of top brands in Oyo State.

Oyo State now boasts of attracting some leading brands and businesses which were supposed to be operational in the state long before now. This geometric improvement in the creation of jobs and businesses has been impressive, such that there has been more job creation for our youths and also a new lease of life to the residents of the state.

All these positives makes it quite safe to assume that even more of these initiatives on the template of PPPs in Oyo State will make the people can access more quality basic amenities and experience wealth creation; and by so doing, make our state maintain a leading position in the comity of states in Nigeria.

OYISIEC: Oyo secures order to conduct Local Govt elections
NEWS BY QUICKSILVER

Oyo State Government has secured an order that will facilitate the conduct of local government election in the state.

In a statement in Ibadan on Wednesday by the Commissioner for information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun quoting the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwaseun Abimbola, the government stated that Order 3 of the interim injunction forbidding INEC from releasing the voters register to OYSIEC for conduct of elections into LGs and LCDAs has been discharged by the court.

According to Mr. Abimbola, “in respect of the case filed by Oyo baales challenging the LCDAs and in which the court had issued an injunction preventing the conduct of elections into LG&LCDAs. I made an application to the court to discharge the part of the Interim order preventing our conduct of elections into LGs since the subject matter of the suit is only on the propriety of LCDAs and not LGs.

“The other counsels in the matter all conceded to the point as canvassed by the Oyo State Government on this matter. Consequently, the Order 3 of the Interim injunction forbidding INEC from releasing voters register to OYSIEC for conduct of elections into LGs and LCDAs has been discharged by the court. Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) is now at liberty to conduct LG elections only, but not into LCDAs which is still pending in court,” the Attorney General explained.

Abimbola hoped that this would development would clear the air and misrepresentation by the people who believe that the state government was not interested in the conduct of the local government election, pointing out that the order secured is a demonstration to the fact that the state government is ready for the conduct of the election and the barrier has been removed.

Politics / How The Ajimobi-led OYSG Has Thrived With Ppps by scoty2910: 10:06am On Oct 25, 2017
HOW THE AJIMOBI-LED OYSG HAS THRIVED WITH PPPs

Quite a handful of the landmark projects either completed or ongoing in Oyo state under the Ajimobi administration were birthed from the smart and internationally-applicable policy known as PUBLIC-PRIVATE-PARTNERSHIPS (PPPs).

The Technical University with Central Bank of Nigeria, the Ibadan Circular Road with ENL Consortium, state-wide and state-of-the-art road constructions, the Inland Dry Port with AP Maersk, the Polaris Pacesetter Free Trade Zone with a Chinese Consortium in the of China Polaris Technologies Group, the Milk Collection Center with Friesland-Campani WAMCO, the Schools' Governing Board, etc, are examples of the ways by which the Ajimobi government has deployed the gains of PPPs.

Contrary to wrong opinions, when a project or initiative is termed "PPP", it is NOT solely FUNDED by government; in fact, a public-private partnership is a contractual arrangement between a public agency (federal, state or local) and a private sector entity. Through this agreement, the skills and assets of each sector (public and private) are shared in delivering a service or facility for the use of the general public.

But a higher motivation for governments considering public–private partnerships is the assured possibility of bringing in new sources of FINANCING for funding public infrastructure and service needs - This has been one of the key ways by which the Ajimobi-led Oyo state government has mitigated the effect of recession and dwindling allocation, bringing in projects and policies to sustain its repositioning agenda.

Governments all of over the world have used such a mix of public and private endeavors throughout history to drive development.

Politics / 10 Quick Facts About Ppps & Evidence Of Its Success In Oyo State by scoty2910: 8:04am On Oct 24, 2017
10 QUICK FACTS ABOUT PPPs & EVIDENCE OF ITS SUCCESS IN OYO STATE

1. A public–private partnership (PPP) is a cooperative arrangement between two or more public and private SECTORS.

2. They are typically long-term in nature.

3. Governments have used such a mix of public and private endeavors throughout history.

4. However, the past few decades have seen a clear trend towards governments across the globe making greater use of various PPP arrangements to drive development.

5. The ultimate aim of PPPs is to ensure the availability of physical or technical infrastructure for public good and usage.

6. PPPs also enable the public sector (in this case, a government and its people) to harness the expertise and efficiencies that the private sector can bring to the delivery of certain facilities and services traditionally procured and delivered by the public sector.

7. In a PPP setup by government, such government enjoys the advantage of not borrowing money to make capital investment. In other words, PPPs help governments that are serious with development BORROW less.

8. PPPs also afford governments the assured possibility of bringing in new sources of financing for funding public infrastructure and service needs.

9. The present Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration in Oyo state has deployed all of these advantages above to drive development in accordance with its repositioning agenda over the past 6 years.

10. The Technical University with Central Bank of Nigeria, the Ibadan Circular Road with ENL Consortium, state-wide and state-of-the-art road construction(s), Dry port with Maersk, the Milk Collection Center with Friesland-Campina WAMCO, the Schools' Governing Board, the Ibadan City Masterplan with the World Bank, the Environmental Management pact with WestAfrica ERG, etc, are fruits from the OYSG-championed PPP initiatives.

Politics / Halved FG Allocation: How Has Oyo State Fared?| Nuggets by scoty2910: 2:41pm On Oct 21, 2017
Halved FG Allocation: How has Oyo State fared? | NUGGETS

* As part of measures deployed by the FG to pull through effects of the recession in 2016, allocations to the states were slashed into half.
* As a result, Oyo state received 2.3 billion Naira instead of the normal 5.6 billion Naira.
So, how has Oyo state fared so far till date?

1. WORKERS’ SALARIES
* Before the slash, the monthly wage bill asides monies for pensioners and political appointees hovered around 5 billion Naira.
* With a 2.3 billion deficit in FAAC, the Oyo state have so far done the following to mitigate the effects of the slash and still pay salaries:
a. Boost IGR
b. Commit 100% of Federal Allocation to payment of salaries.
c. Deployed 72% of Paris Refund to augment workers’ salary payment.
d. Diversify economy.
e. Engage in Public-Private-Partnerships to shed burden of governance and development on government purse.
* Thus, so far, these moves have ensured that only 2 months of workers’ salaries are owed.
* This is somewhat commendable when compared to the number of months owed workers in some other states.
* And thankfully, a rise in last month’s allocation from the FG in the region of 4.9 billion naira, gives an assurance that all outstanding wages will be cleared soonest.

2. PROJECTS
* The Oyo State government has engaged in strong and multiple Public Private Partnerships to sustain the developmental projects across the state.
* These developmental projects cut across:

Health / Breast Cancer Month In Oyo:celebrating With Further Awareness & Advocacy by scoty2910: 12:40am On Oct 21, 2017
Awareness And Advocacy

BY QUICKSILVER

Even as Nigeria has the highest cancer death rate in Africa, Breast Cancer still constitutes a major public health issue globally with over 1 million new cases diagnosed annually, resulting in over 400,000 annual deaths and about 4.4 million women living with the disease.

Despite the alarming pieces of statistic, a large number of women in Nigeria are still not aware of the risks they bear, mainly due to lack of awareness, poverty, and general lack of availability of equipment and personnel.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Month, marked in countries across the world every October, helps to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease.

Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries. It is recorded as the second leading cause of death in women worldwide. Only lung cancer kills more women each year.

85 per cent of women who have breast cancer do not have a family history of breast cancer, affecting one in eight women during their lives.

Cancer is not just a health issue; it has a far reaching social and economic implication, which is why we need to encourage a sister, mother, cousin or friend to get the necessary life saving mammogram, and routinely conduct regular monthly self breast examinations.

Currently there is no sufficient knowledge on the causes of breast cancer; therefore, early detection of the disease remains the cornerstone of breastcancer control. When breast cancer is detected early, and if adequate diagnosis and treatment are available, there is a good chance that breast cancercan be cured. If detected late, however, curative treatment is often no longer an option. In such cases, palliative care to relieve the suffering of patients and their families is needed.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.

We need to use this opportunity to spread the word about steps women can take to detect breast cancerearly, by simply making healthy lifestyle changes to maintain overall health and well being, and more importantly, practice self-breast examinations every month in order to detect any unfamiliar changes in the breast that can prevent the deadly disease,Breast Cancer, if taken seriously.

Spread the word, think Pink!

Politics / Oyo State Civil Servants To Get Housing Loan In 7days by scoty2910: 9:07pm On Oct 19, 2017
Oyo Civil Servants to get Housing Loan in 7days, Partners FG on Housing

Oyo State Government on Thursday disclosed that civil servants in the state will receive their housing loans in 7 days, saying that it is also partnering the Federal Government to provide low cost housing schemes of 720 units for the people of the state to complement the recently created GRAs.

Equally, the government stated that it will not tolerate the activities of land grabbers (Omo Onile) in the state, urging the citizens to take advantage of the recently introduced electronic C of O to protect their landed property from the menace of land grabbing.

The State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Survey, Mr. Ajiboye Omodewu urged the general public to beware of touts who paraded themselves as staff of the Ministry of Land and volunteered to process the C of O for them, stating that C of O processing is now free from unnecessary bureaucracy with the introduction of the Electronic C of O.
Omodewu, who addressed the media with his counterpart from the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun, explained that the OYSG/FG partnership will ensure the provision of housing units along Oyo/Ibadan expressway, assuring that the low cost housing will be for the benefit of all.

He pointed out that the process for securing housing loans which was increased by Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration by 100% has been reduced to 1week if the interested beneficiaries fulfill all the requirements of the state government, saying “Governor Ajimobi has directed that approval for the housing loan should be given within a week if the interested person fulfills all the requirements. Our government prioritizes home ownership for the people, hence the need to make the process less cumbersome.

“We have recently introduced the Home Owners’ Charter policy. The policy allows landlords without proper documentations to procure one with the sum of N120K. This scheme is created to enable home owners in Oyo State who currently have no title documents like Survey and Building plans to obtain titles with great ease and at the very affordable rate of N120,000.00. The scheme has commenced and interested individuals can approach the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing to start the process which is just for 60 days,” Omodewu added.
He hinted that the State Government has engaged private developers to put up housing units for different categories of people in different areas of the State, noting that people should expect an influx of businesses and inew residents in Ibadan when the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is concluded.

"Oyo State government has engaged private developers for different categories of citizens at Agodi GRA, Elenusonso GRA in Ido Local Government, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Kolapo Isola GRA at Lagelu LG, among others” the commissioner stressed.
Omodewu appealed to the general public to co-operate with Nigerian Institution of Surveyors and Estate Valuers (NIESV) for the enumeration, evaluation and categorization of properties in the state, noting that the essence of the enumeration is to generate data that will aid the sustainable developmental objectives in the state.
He also advised members of the public not to give money to any staff of the ministry or those who disguise to be agents, claiming to assist them, adding “you will pay directly into the government account, not to individuals. If you give money to any staff, you do so at your own risk.”

OLUBADAN REVIEW: Let the court decide, Oyo APC tells Seriki head, others

NEWS BY QUICKSILVER

Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the head of the seriki line, Chief Adebayo Oyediji and all those aggrieved with the recent Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration Review to wait for the judgment of the court of law instead of embarking on media vituperations.

The party explained that Governor Abiola Ajimobi aligned with the submissions of major stakeholders in the decision arrived at, stating that it is erroneous to say it was political intimidation as posited by Chief Oyediji.

The party’s Director of Media, Research and Strategy, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde said that all interested parties could join the suit in the court of law, noting that the judiciary is the appropriate place to seek redress and not the media space.

He maintained that since the Seriki Chiefs led by Chief Oyediji are already in court on the Olubadan chieftaincy issue, they should wait for the judgment of the court rather than be the judge in their own case.

“Now that the case is in court, we want to appeal to all those that are aggrieved to be part of the suit instead of a fruitless media war. However, we want to put it on record that the governor did not do anything to disrupt the ascendancy and succession structure of the Olubadan Chieftaincy stool.

“There was only a review of the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration based on the submissions of memoranda and at public sittings by major stakeholders. However, any objection to the review can be challenged at the court of law which some people are already doing,” Olatunde stressed.–

Politics / Gov Ajimobi Commended For Policy Initiative Of School Governing Board, sgb by scoty2910: 1:02pm On Oct 14, 2017
Oyo's SGB policy: A success galore... As Abadina College, Ibadan wears new look

Story by Taiwo Oluwadare

The Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration in Oyo State was on Friday commended for policy initiative of School Governing Board, SGB in Abadina College, University of Ibadan as members of the board renovated school building that was built in late 70s with provision of equipments.

Speaking during the commissioning of the renovated school building, the chairman of the school's Governing Board, Professor Adewale said when the policy was inaugurated by the state governor, he gave them two mandates.

According to him, the two mandates are to increase performance of the students and enhance infrastructural development of schools they are governing.

He said: "when we commenced activities, the school library was not in good shape, there was no water and sanitation and the large school hall was in bad shape. But when we came on board, everything was repositioned and in good shape. Also the school has since been leading in competition with other schools", the SGB's chairman said.

Corroborating him, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Oyo State, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela therefore commended the School's Governing Board and old students of the school who are members of the board for giving back to their school.

According to Olowofela, who was represented by Director of Planning Research and Statistics, PR & S of the ministry, Mrs. A.B Atere, the provided facilities will facilitate interest in pursuit of academic excellence which will in turn provide manpower development for the benefit of the state and that of the country as a whole.

While commending the old students for the drilled borehole, the Commissioner said: "the crucial role of water to sanitation, the development education and the society as a whole cannot be over emphasized.

"That was why water and sanitation form basic facilities in any school as stipulated by UNICEF standard. More importantly, water becomes indispensable when consider sewage issues, school activities will definitely not go well if the teachers and the students cannot use human conveniences due to lack of water as science practicals cannot be effectively carried out if water is not available", the commissioner said.

He therefore said that the state government welcomes public spirited individuals, corporate organizations, old students association, parents forum and school governing philanthropists in restoring, repositioning and reforming the education sector in the state.

Also the principal of the school, Mrs. M.A Osuntogun thanked the governing board's intervention while she specially thanked the 1986 set for renovating the basement classroom which she said spunned others to action.

She noted that the school is returning back to her former glory courtesy of the SGB and old students while she called on other sets to see this as a challenge to plant back to their alma mater.

The National President of Abadina College Old Students Association (ACOSA), Mr. Peter Aheneku said the executive has provided the school with solar powered computer, internet lab through one of her 92 set member, with a standby 8KVA generating set.

He said: " We are working round the clock to make sure we get all the 35 sets that have graduated so far on board. The successful design and upload of an interactive website for the association, renovation of the school main building and block of 8 class rooms, and other ongoing projects will be commissioned later", Aheneku said.
