horse703: i repeat, natural selection is an important process yes, if so shuldnt the amoeba be extinct by now sincce natural selection has been acting on those species of amoeba that culd not evolve for over a so many years? True these animals you mention have not changed much for a very long time, are there those that have done so? and if there are is your judgement not a bit irrational? |

davidylan: you really are not saying anything remotely intelligent enough for me to make such a great assumption. Its just that each time you ignorant folks come up to argue evolution you rush and grab mutation . . . when its exposed for the fallacy it truly is then you run off after selection.
that's true . . . i cant stand myopic ignoramuses . . . its either you know or you dont. Period. I hear, you know say evolution theory dey wrong and you still dey nairaland, all the Dr. "i can cure aids" scientists. |

davidylan: how have fruitflies changed? Pls tell us . . . because they use fruitflies in research in the lab just below me . . . pls lie so i can go and confirm from them RIGHT NOW! All of a sudden natural selection was the main mechanism of change? How did the SAME ENVIRONMENT naturally select us to develop as humans and allowed others to develop as lions or bacteria?
Most fossils are genuine . . . the ones you folks bring up in arguments are either false or genuine fossils from which false claims are made.
I asked for an example and this is what you come up with? the same silly escapist "oh you're a scientist so you shld know"? If you're making the argument doesnt that mean YOU SHOULD KNOW?
Climatic changes cause natural selection . . . GIVE US AN EXAMPLE WHERE IT HAS CAUSED EVOLUTION because both are NOT the same. Nobody believes your lab fairytales david go and sleep! Na true any fossil that does not fit into your theory is the one in which false claims are made, the fossils of the horse nko? oh I forgot they were forged. |

horse703: scylla sorry was just luking for appropriate answer for u. well davidylan is right, those processes are still at play, blood type and the others are all controlled by DNA so yes they are affected in some way by these processes. the thing is i think these processes dont produce an entirely different species from the old one its like saying a dog develops into a cow just because it has started breeeding on a grassland, it only adapts to be able to cope with environment it still remains a dog. this is how i see it. I get what you are trying to say ( oh by the way david is an idiot), but you do agree that these little changes take place right? how long in your books do you think it would take for these changes to matter. Is there any part of the theory that is right? |

davidylan: this has to be the daftest response today. So the word "mutation" is the concrete proof for evolution?
Pls show me ANY animal that has undergone serious evolution pls WITH PROOF!
Mutation is a valid scientific occurence . . . that evolutionists cling to it like limpets to rocks in explaining the nonsense called evolution is ridiculous.
It is funny that you have YET to tackle A SINGLE ONE of my points to rebut all the bogus drivel you have copied and pasted ever since . . . and you call me a dullard? you who is completely unable to use your own brain to articulate your own point of view? Puhlease. See this slowpoke, who said mutation means evolution, see why you are a very dull scientist? |

davidylan: the unfortunate TRUTH is that the point you ignorantly posted from wikipedia actually WEAKENS the argument for evolution based on mutation. For the following reasons:
1. 99% of mutations (as horse703 earlier mentioned) are deleterious to the organism . . . how did evolution escape that?
2. Mutations are NOTORIOUSLY SLOW.
3. Why has amoeba or viruses or bacteria remained the same in all the time it took man to evolve from a unicellular organism? Two words for you SHUT UP! there is a reason I did not ask you in the first place. horse703: from you defintion above, it means if we take a population of amoeba living in a pond, in a certain generation a mutation may occur that may produce an eye in one amoeba, this will then be passed on to the next generation hopefully, in that next generation, a mutation may occur which may produce a tail, this will also be passed on to the next geeneration, this small muations go on for a period of maybe a million years producing in the end a new species, fish, this fish generation also go thru these to produce anada species. this is wht i get from your defintion, do u say this is right and constitutes evolution, please answer so i may respond. When I read further I got this Evolution itself is the product of two opposing forces: processes that constantly introduce variation, and processes that make variants become more common or rare. New variation arises in two main ways: either from mutations in genes, or from the transfer of genes between populations and between species. In species that reproduce sexually, new combinations of genes are also produced by genetic recombination, which can increase variation between organisms.
Two major mechanisms determine which variants will become more common or rare in a population. One is natural selection, a process that causes helpful traits (those that increase the chance of survival and reproduction) to become more common in a population and causes harmful traits to become more rare. This occurs because individuals with advantageous traits are more likely to reproduce, meaning that more individuals in the next generation will inherit these traits.[2][3] Over many generations, adaptations occur through a combination of successive, small, random changes in traits, and natural selection of the variants best-suited for their environment.[4] The other major mechanism driving evolution is genetic drift, an independent process that produces random changes in the frequency of traits in a population. Genetic drift results from the role that chance plays in whether a given trait will be passed on as individuals survive and reproduce. Sounds very technical to me, does the theory explain blood groups, genotypes and stuff like that? |
Christianity Etc › Re: To: Noetic, huxley, daviddylan, abuzola And Co by SCYLLA: 8:11pm On Jul 14, 2009 |
In biology, evolution is the change in the genetic material of a population of organisms from one generation to the next. Though the changes produced in any one generation are small, differences accumulate with each generation and can, over time, cause substantial changes in the organisms. This process can culminate in the emergence of new species.[1] Indeed, the similarities between organisms suggest that all known species are descended from a common ancestor (or ancestral gene pool) through this process of gradual divergence. Got this from wikipedia, is it enough? |

Hopefully this issue has not been trashed too many times. I am a young graduate, no job and looking for something to get my hands on to do, I have canvassed many options and right now the one thing staring me in the face is to learn how to trade the foreign exchange. But so I don't make a mistake I would love you to help me paint the real picture of what it is all about and its viability. Around me in the university I finished, there are students who shot to fame in a matter of months and when I ask the same answer keeps coming, "Na forex" but then we began to hear that this guy owed people as much as 20 million naira and ever since then I have been really skeptical about it. I know no business comes with risks but I would love an established trader, to let me know the real risks and strategies with which I can help myself get there. Thanks. |

My parents bros sistas girlfriend etc don't know that am an atheist and i don't intend to tell them. Telling your girlfriend that your an athiest is just like telling her that your gay! So don't tell her. Unless she suspects herself through your behaviour

Today my sister called me and was begging me to make a change for 2009 and I can see my other sisters and parents want me to change. The problem takes a twist because my girlfriend does not know about it and I really don't know how to tell her, so guys what do I do, I could go on pretending and its not going to make a difference for me.

This seems to be a norm here, everyone talks without defining what they are saying. Under what conditions are you comparing? First and foremost the systems you are comparing have to be either high end or low end. I cannot say BMW makes the best cars while comparing a x5 to a mercedes benz 200 If you compare a high end sony and a high end hp or acer you will find the line is not as easy as you are drawing it. Furthermore if I say peugeot makes the best cars because their parts are readily available while comparing a 504 to a car whose parts are hard to find. So make the lines clearer, a game freak will always think a laptop with a good graphics card and screen resolution is the best, a Nasa scientist dealing with machine code might have something else in mind. In the end just like cars and phones, its all relative. |

I have been reading threads on this forum for some time now and some things do confuse me. But today while reading the letters of Paul in the bible something odd struck me. This man had a vision of Jesus and his letters were added to the bible. My question today brothers and sisters is, will you take an order from you pastor if like paul he told you he had visions. Our pastors these days use the letters of these men to preach, are there any out there that we can say their words are really inspired by God and should be used in teaching worldwide. |
