Man identifies woman beheaded in Yola hotel as his ex-wife

A man has told the Adamawa State Police Command that he was the husband of a woman killed on Thursday at a hotel in the capital, Yola.

The man said the marriage lasted until last month.

A suspected ritual killer had on Thursday taken the said woman to the hotel, Happy Day Guest Inn, beheaded her and sneaked out of the hotel with her head.

The woman was later found as a headless corpse by the hotel receptionist who went to look over the room that the ‘lovers’ took when neither she nor the man who brought her was seen after a long while.

The woman could not be identified until Friday afternoon when the story broke as there was no face to the body.

The ex-husband of the deceased, Auwal Garba, however, confirmed to the Police yesterday evening that the deceased, who he identified as Bilkisu Alhaji Idi, was his wife until he divorced her last month.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who provided the update on the incident, said Auwal Garba had asserted that Bilkisu was his wife who he had married about six years ago.

Garba allegedly added that the marriage was blessed with a child, and that the late Bilkisu called him on the day of her death that she wished to speak with her child.

He said he could not grant the wish as the child was away with his grandmother.

The Federal Government has announced a planned closure of the Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele section of the Third Mainland Bridge from 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024.

The statement was made on the early hours of today, Thursday, 28th of December, 2023, by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Mrs Olukorede Kesha.

Kesha said the closure would be done on the Lagos Island-bound carriageway of the bridge.

She appealed to motorists to obey traffic rules and use alternative routes to prevent hardship as comprehensive repairs continue on the highway.

“The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works wishes to inform the motoring public that the emergency repairs of Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos will continue.

Consequent upon the above, motorists are hereby advised to use alternative routes,” she said.

Kesha listed the alternative routes and links to include: Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams Avenue-Eko Bridge-Apogbon-CMS and Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Jibowu-Yaba-Oyingbo-Iddo-Carter Bridge-CMS.

Also listed was Gbagada-Anthony-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams-Eko Bridge-Apogbon-CMS.
