samee72: @seekermi any hotel you book online you will need to provide your credit card details for the booking to be confirmed, there are some hotels that your credit card will be charged immediately while some will be pay later or pay at hotel, but the problem is even if you book a hotel that requires you to pay at hotel if you do not cancel your book a day( depending on the hotel) before your check in date, the amount for one night stay will be deducted from your credit card including tax and so on, in some cases if you don't cancel on time the complete amt for the number of days you book will be charged your credit card so your best bet is book one of the hotels that says pay at hotel, then give your credit card details and when your booking confirmation has been sent to your email, print it out and cancel the booking a few days before your check in date so you can show your printed booking reservation to the immigration officials, i don't think they will have time to start calling the hotel to know if you actually have a booking with them

ogakpatakpata: You can book for less days; but, in my personal opinion 5 to 7 days is ideal, afterall you are not going to pay for it until you arrive, again, when you do arrive, you can choose not to use the booked hotel and go for something cheaper.

ogakpatakpata: 5 days is good, it is just to let the immigration know that you know what you are doing,because they always look for a loop hole to ask for bribe, so it is better you close all loop holes; comport yourself very well in the airport, make sure you have good eye contact when talking to them, don't panic and don't be afraid, they are human beings like you, l know sometimes they may want to intimidate you,but, stand your ground and don't give them any bribe, once they see that you are bold, they will let you go.........

ogakpatakpata: @serekemi.......7days hotel reservation is ideal, if you don't have a hotel reservation at hand,Nigeria immigration might use that as a loop hole to squeeze money from you, so it is better you have it handy incase they ask you, about shared accommodation; l mean when you arrive Dubai, you have to network with sincere guys who have accommodation to share with you,even at that , you have to be careful because you do not know the characters or make-up of those you might be living with......l am talking from what l have seen befall some guys who shared accommodation with people of questionable character.......hope you get my drift?

ogakpatakpata: @Dapelua.........good to hear that you finally got your visa, for accommodation, l guess you have followed this thread for long and if you did diligently, you must have read where we talked about shared accommodation and cheap hotels in deira, once you arrive deira, there are lots of cheap hotels within that vicinity.....remember to do hotel reservation for 7days minimum, so that you can show it to Nigeria immigration at the point of departure to avoid them squeezing cash from you, as for food, also take some, and avoid excess luggage or baggage, so as not to pay extra charges for your bags.....goodluck and wishing you a safe trip..

ogakpatakpata: @serekemi..........very difficult to say, because it is not an official thing,although,it is illegal,but, it has become the norm in Dubai, again, it is hard to identify a fake recruitment agency/Hr official because it is not written on their forehead, my suggestion to you is if you have God fearing family members or friends in Dubai, they can assist you in knowing who to recommend to you, we have both FAKE and GENUINE recruitment agencies/Hr and they are mainly controlled by Indians...........and have you also noticed that all the jobs we have posted here on this forum, none of our members has come up to testify that they secured jobs or where interviewed, the reason been the under written code or what l call under the table settlement going on,even in the so called walk-ins interviews, if they have 20 vacancies, 15 of the slots will be teleguided and they will have a point man within the premises or in one of the rooms, and pre-selected candidates who have cash to give are given instant offer letters and in some cases they are also given employment visa within days, and the remaining 5 will be employed and are given house-keeping positions or other low cadre positions, and they will now tell the government that they did an open interview......***ALL IS COSMETIC SHOW** l am saying this from what l have seen happens to several guys and my relationships with several colleagues especially indians......

But i will like to add a few inputs, all our members that have travelled to dubai always had issues with accomodation from valentony,GemB, jemmyNg and a host of others, it can be fustrating for a first time travller arriving at t'he airport without a help from anybody, he would take a taxi and most likely be cheated becos even t'he taxi driver knows he is new in town, and when he gets a hotel it might not be t'he cheapest and most convinient around cos his information is limited, and when seaching for shared accomodation he has to be extreamly careful not to be swindled and sandwished into 12 people in a room arrangment, and as per job level t'he man is vertually lost as he dosent know how to commence a proper job search, t'he odd is really stacked against a JJC in town, and like t'he case of jeremyNG, if your visa is about to expire and no job in sight it can really be distressing, and also t'he cost of visa renewal is about 1000 dihram {about 45,000 naira} and t'he cost of another months rent 200 dollars { about 32,000 naira} and also t'he cost of feeding and transport for another month, if u do t'he maths u will discover you will spend about another 100 thousand naira or more for a 2nd month in dubai without job, so it has become imperative to cut all cost if we can help it, i propose this new endevour be called PALACE SERVICES, using the Palacial services on arrival in dubai is strictly optional no be by force.as t'he igwe suggested before a palace subject wants to travel he must notify t'he igwe and t'he whole palace three days before t'he flight so adequate arrangments can be made at t'he dubai palace end to recieve him or her. Pls note as soon as you give t'he igwe a 3days notice they should make enquiry about t'he most confortable and cheap hotel around and also begin to check out affordable and cheap shared accomodation around. And also they would investigate available jobs and make recommendations, new arrivals in dubai are free to seach for jobs themselves after settling in their shared accommmodation,if getting a job becomes difficult he can ask for t'he servise of job placement experts to assist him get a job for a fee, i state again this service is not by force, you must be convienced that you want to do it and such request must be passed to t'he igwe for recommendation and follow up, pls you will also carry t'he whole kingdom along for check and balances and for quick whistle blowing if we think somthing is not adding up well.i feek t'he integrity of t'he igwe is strong enogh to oversee this project. Igwe pls lets put an amount for t'he airport pickup,hotel serching service, shared accomodation seach and other assistance in dubai for new arrivals to 50 to 100 dollars. This is open to discussion!
