Most Northerners go to middle east universities like King Abdulazeez university jedda, Egyptian universities, Qatar, UAE, Turkey, Iran etc.... As I chat u, two of my nephews are currently studying medicine and Computer Engineering in a Malaysian and Kuwait universities respectively

Stories, jare ! Most northerners as we all know, mostly went to university in the UK. I can list many politicians and non-politicians kids that I personally knew were my classmates. Mu'azu Aliyu, former Niger State governor's son (was governor then) , same with Nasir Abdullahi Adamu (of former Nasarawa governor) and a host of others who were my friends.
It's only a few that go to Saudi to school, and Cairo has a handful of northern kids too. You didn't even mention China which has the largest amount of northern kids as students in Universities abroad. Turkey has them, Cyprus too.

Let's just say they aren't that competitive or don't willingly participate in competition's and what not.
