JASONjnr: I wish they can take us back......
Because, this problem started when Nigerians gathered to enthroned a dullard and dethrone a learned sitting president because they were tired and needed a change ..
From that day till today, it's been sorrow upon sorrow. no one human being wishes going back in life but the case of Nigeria is nothing but going back in life is the better off. oneMalik: 70% of the problems we face today is caused by the citizens ( laziness) not the govt....thou the govt may be useless and that's the total reflection of the citizens cos out of 200m people. we've selected few as leaders to show the kind of people we are.
Nothing will change until we start thinking. that you could comfortably type this shows how heartless you are, people like you are our major problem in Nigeria followed by bad governance (are you happy now? getting blamed for Nigeria situation.) you mean to say those companies folding up or leaving Nigeria are likewise lazy? so do startups collapsing are lazy? if I may ask, what do you do for a living? sure you aren't one of those sitting right in front of a government office table expecting something at the end of the month then calling the real fighters lazy? |

MadPolitician: Flooding the Nigerian Airspace with first generation and second generation antique "fighters" and "bombers", when all other countries that started with us are going for the fifth generation war planes, is becoming very irritatingly annoying. These things add to air pollution! All these fanfare for some scrap metals already designated as "monuments" in some western and Asian military museums? We can surely do better!
I think that the Nigerian military has suffered immeasurably, as it constantly focuses on internal insurrectionists. This has led to a situation where the military high command, seem to caliberate her operational standards based on realities associated with internal challenges, and has as a result forgotten to prepare effectively, a more sophisticated and capable military organisation, able to withstand a very dangerous foreign enemy.
I mean, can you fight the Iranians, Russians, Pakistanis, or even the Egyptians, with these wretched relics? Lets not bring the French or Chinese or even Brazilians into it. why do you guys like shooting yourself on the leg? try research before comment, it will save you from embarrassment. first to comment no get any value. EreluRoz: Eiya it's village people that turned rat to destroy her savings. if we talk now some will come for our head. still, that rat is no ordinary rat, she had better start working against the spirit of devourer and unprofitability. Kenobsky: Rat from the pit of hell. If I catch this kind rat even Na witch I no send I fit do pepersoup with it to console my self. Inukwa you said it o, they will come for you o. nairalanda1: Banks, Banks....BANKS
They exist for a reason.
USE THEM. what is the difference between the rats and the banks? one has human the other animals. for those that strongly believe it is spiritual kindly queue up here so they can attack us in peace. nairalanda1: The idea that banks will steal your money is a lie.
Banks offer better storage facilites, both on ground and virtually, for your money. And then some banks offer interest bearing savings account...meaning you can keep your money in the bank and it would make more money
But you can keep your money at home if you want, there is no stopping you, my maternal grandmother did it, and at her death, she had a large pile in her strongbox. Her kids were shocked. But the problem is, assuming fire or rat attacks....problem go happen.
Now, lets' assume that she kept her money in the bank and rat got into the strong room and ate it...bank can simply replace the money for her and she won't even know (Bank would also award a contract for a better strong room, can't have rats eating more customer's money).
If the bank collapses, she can even get some or even all her money back because all banks insure their deposits via the Nigeria deposit Insurance corporation or NDIC. See the recent Heritage Bank collapse, where NDIC Intervened and paid people back money, and some even got all their money back.
Let's not be ill informed . read well, I never said our banks steals our money even when we all know they do. I do understand your stand which are valid, right and true still our bank are thieves. I use the bank, I don't keep money at home, if you find substantial cash on me it is just for the basics or for something important of which the cash will be disbursed within hours or few days time. still it doesn't make the idea of kóló or piggy bank a bad idea. to some it is fun doing it, some run bank account yet do their piggy bank thing at home. for the rat thing, I still say it, it isn't ordinary, at no point in time does cash or money have any form of attractive odour to then attract a rat to feast on it. in all situation you see them shred the money and leave. why on Earth would a rat chew up a save them shred the cash in it then bolt or take a walk away? this is out of the ordinary. there is a valid point someone else might have made away with that save, advent of inferno and all but not a rat deliberately destroying wad of money. |

if he is looking to build on dapo prints then it is obvious he is a failure in the waiting. no one will vote another failure into office. humberjade: If my maths is correct, then Yayi might just be the next APC gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State. But at the end of the day, it is he, whom Tinubu supports that would win the ticket. So provided Yayi still remains in Tinubu's good books, and his favourite for the ticket, Dapo has no choice but to ensure it happens. Firstly, he would either want to become a Senator or get a Ministerial appointment after office. Secondly, he would want to enjoy his later years far away from EFCC's harassment.
All these analyses doesn't change the fact that Governor Abiodun hasn't really covered himself in glory as the Governor. I might be wrong though, coming from someone miles away from home, basing his opinions mainly on hearsay and the Internet. there isn't hearsay in dapo case he is nothing but an embodiment of a mountain of failure. |

Racoon: Financial market - abeg give it to our South-West brethren. Banking, Insurance, Journalism and Stockbrokers nah them get am. Meanwhile the story of Wema is really inspirational. Though I never banked with it, but it always fascinates me in the 1980s especially that their branch @ Mokola round-about Raccoon tún gbé wa débè big time, long live @Racoon, my first ever bank account was with Wema Bank and I still run it till date. even had a second one with them, the other two banks I opened with I later abandoned. as such Wema remains the only bank I us for now. brain54: Oldest bank in Nigeria is first bank...
Oldest indegenous is wema.
Wema bank was the first commercial bank account I operated(my first ever was a micro finance bank)
It was my school account.
I hated the bank so much because of their archaic ways of transaction.
I later abandoned the account when other new generation banks started coming to the vicinity of my school. I still have some money abandoned in that account sef, although not much. (maybe one day I will walk in and request to close the account. Even though I can't remember the account number again. Maybe the money would have yielded a sizable interest . Very unlikely though)
I don't know if they changed or modernized their banking systems. As I can't remember using that bank ever since. But I just have the impression and bias they haven't.
Ironically, I have hardly had any transaction carried out with the bank since then.
And when I pass through any branch the thought that comes to my mind is "people still use this bank"?
I guess they do! did you school at ago-iwoye (or lived in ijebu-igbo?) though Wema Bank is different now, if your answer to my question is positive then I can relate well. then fcmb came to the rescue, afribank & skybank (then cooperative bank) were no different or better off. |
