The lawmaker representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Clement Jimbo, has asserted that former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, cannot win any election in Nigeria. Peter Obi has been moving. What does that tell you? That he’s alive. But in which direction is he moving? As far as logic is concerned, if you have a flight to catch at a certain time, and you are not moving towards the airport, you will never catch that flight. So I can tell you that Mr Peter Obi is moving against the direction of winning any election in this coun.try Let me be very explicit. He moved from APGA to PDP and then jumped to the Labour Party before settling with ADC. He has not stayed in a particular political party to build and consolidate. If you know the percentage of stability of your house, then you can assure yourself a certain level of winning percentage. This is very practical. In my unit in Abak urban ward 1, I challenged Peter Obi to put on any platform who his Labour Party agent was because there was none. As a political figure and a candidate of a political party that wants to win an election, it is required that you have your agents across the over 8,000 polling units. But he cannot meet that. It means that the crowd he claims to have are hanging in the air. Let me also challenge Peter Obi and most of his supporters, who are very active on social media. How many of them know their polling units? Elections are not done on social media. How many of them voted? That was why it was a problem for them when the court asked them to produce copies of the results. So, Peter Obi is only making noise. He cannot win any election in Nigeria. Look at the people who form the APC. The late President Muhammadu Buhari was a leader of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the north. He stayed in his party, contested election in and out of season, three consecutive times. He never defected to another party. He understood the commitment and sacrifice needed to build a political party. https://www./2026/03/02/peter-obi-is-moving-against-the-direction-of-winning-election-apc-rep/

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has slammed former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for celebrating his birthday in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. He accused members of the opposition, like Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi, of hoodwinking poor Nigerians. Wike made the claim while speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja. He said: “I saw Obi, Atiku, and Amaechi going to campaign. What Amaechi did was to buy corn. A corn he has never chewed as a minister on the road. A corn he didn’t chew as a governor. You like to deceive the poor. It’s like Peter Obi today, If he’s doing birthday party today, he’ll go to IDP camp. When he was governor, did he not have birthday party? Mention one IDP camp he went to? Meanwhile, Wike, has disclosed how President Bola Tinubu’s instruction made the All Progressives Congress (APC) secure a majority of the seats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections. Recall that the APC emerged victorious in five of the six Area Council chairmanship positions in the FCT Area Council elections held on 21st February 2026. Speaking on the development during his first monthly media parley for 2026 in Abuja on Monday, Wike explained why the APC prevailed. According to him, Tinubu instructed him to visit satellite towns and ensure they felt the impact of governance. He asserted that the key factor was the party’s focus on satellite towns rather than on the city centre. Who would have beaten Asiwaju’s government in this FCT election if all we did was focus on the city? All over the years, ruling parties have struggled to win in the city because the people there talk a lot but rarely come out to vote. Wike, who revealed that he was personally appointed as a minister when President Tinubu took office, stressed the importance of extending governance beyond the city. The President said we must go to the satellite towns and let them feel the impact of governance, let them feel the impact of government. And we did that. When you go to places like Karu, Kabusa, Wasa, you see how happy the people are. That’s where the voters came out in numbers. The minister also highlighted the difference between residents in the city and those in satellite towns. Where did people not come out? All of them are within the city. But when we reached the satellite towns, people voted and made their voices heard. That’s why APC was able to secure the majority of seats,” he added. https://www./2026/03/02/mention-one-idp-camp-you-visited-as-governor-wike-blasts-peter-obi/

Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader Peter Obi has sharply criticised the current administration, describing it as the worst government in Nigeria’s history. Obi made the remark while addressing supporters and party faithful at a recent public engagement, where he spoke extensively about the country’s economic challenges, rising insecurity and the hardship facing ordinary Nigerians. According to him, the level of suffering and economic pressure being experienced across the country has reached unprecedented levels. He argued that key indicators such as inflation, unemployment and currency depreciation show that the nation is struggling more than ever before. The government we have today is the worst in the history of our country, Nigeria,” Obi said, insisting that leadership must be measured by the wellbeing of the people. The former Anambra State governor highlighted the rising cost of living, the weakening purchasing power of citizens and the growing frustration among young people. He maintained that governance should focus on productivity, investment in critical sectors and transparent management of public resources. Obi also raised concerns about insecurity, stating that safety of lives and property remains a primary responsibility of any government. He stressed that without stability and trust in institutions, meaningful development would remain difficult. His comments have since generated mixed reactions across political circles. Supporters of Obi say his statement reflects the reality many Nigerians are facing, especially amid economic reforms that have led to subsidy removal and foreign exchange adjustments. However, allies of the ruling government have dismissed his remarks as political rhetoric, arguing that the administration inherited deep structural challenges and is implementing tough but necessary reforms to stabilise the economy. The strong criticism comes as political conversations gradually begin to shift toward the 2027 general elections. Analysts say opposition figures are likely to intensify scrutiny of the government’s policies as they position themselves for future contests. Obi, who emerged as a major political force during the 2023 presidential election, has continued to maintain an active presence in national discourse, frequently commenting on governance, economic policy and accountability. While the presidency has not officially responded to his latest statement, political observers note that debates over the country’s economic direction and security architecture are expected to dominate public discussions in the coming months. For now, Obi’s remarks have once again placed him at the centre of Nigeria’s political conversation, reigniting debate over leadership, performance and the direction of the nation. https://olorisupergal.com/this-is-the-worst-government-in-nigerias-history-peter-obi-slams-current-administration/

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has condemned the alleged gunmen attack in Benin City, Edo State. As reported by Vanguard on Tuesday, February 24, Obi lamented that the incident underscores growing concerns about the health of Nigeria’s democracy. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain and presidential hopeful spoke in a now-viral video following the attack. Gunmen reportedly opened fire at the residence of former All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, riddling the gate and several vehicles with bullets. Obi said in the footage while pointing to the bullet-riddled gate: “This is where our democracy has reached. A former governor, and you can see what happened in front of his house, where hoodlums came shooting. I assure you this cannot continue; we have a country, and we are a part of it. We cannot have terrorism and have officials in government terrorising the citizens. A viral video from the scene showed visible bullet holes on the estate gate and damaged vehicles, indicating the intensity of the attack. In the build up to the 2027 presidential election, supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, have launched an organization for grassroots mobilisation. The organization tagged ‘Village Boys Movement’ was launched as a rival platform to counter the ‘City Boys Movement’ organized by President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, for the President’s re-election. Convener of the Village Boys Movement, Maazị Tochukwu Ezeoke, who addressed supporters in Abuja on Thursday, named himself a ‘Village Headmaster’. According to him, the movement “represents a Nigeria that works before it earns and earns before it spends”. He, however, clarified that the initiative was “not hostility toward cities”, stating that it is rather a “moral contrast”. The issue is not geography but the source of wealth, the ethics of leadership, and the structure of accountability,” he added. https://dailypost.ng/2026/02/20/2027-peter-obis-camp-launches-village-boys-movement-to-counter-tinubus-city-boys/

Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has raised concerns over the Federal Government's handling of the country's power sector. In a post on his X handle on Monday, Obi said the National Grid continues to perform poorly under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite promises of stable electricity during his campaign. Obi, quoting a statement attributed to Tinubu in which the President asked not to be voted for if he failed to provide steady electricity in four years, accused him of abandoning the national grid 32 months after assuming office. Thirty-two months after being incharge and instead of living by his powerful words, he now dumps National Grid that has been performing abysmally under his watch." he wrote. He noted that the promise of stable power had raised hopes among Nigerians, but lamented that people are still struggling with unfulfilled commitment. Those were the powerful words then that inspired hope among Nigerians who longed for light in their homes, stability for their businesses, and growth for their nation. Yet, while Nigerians are still grappling with that unfulfilled, categorical electoral promise - and without clear communication on the obstacles, if any." The former Anambra State governor also criticised the FG's planned switch to solar power, describing it as gross neglect and deeply worrisome, warning that it could further worsen the power crisis for ordinary Nigerians. We read of provision in 2025 budget about the ₦10 billion for solar power at Aso Rock, and in 2026 budget another humongous amount for upgrade and maintenance and now we are being scarcitically told that Presidential Villa has planned to be disconnected from the national grid to rely entirely on solar. It is a gross neglect and deeply worrisome when the seat of power abandons the national grid. One would expect government institutions to lead efforts to strengthen and expand the grid so that other establishments, and ultimately, citizens can benefit. If those in authority disconnect themselves from the system, who then will connect the ordinary Nigerian to reliable power?" He argued that while promoting renewable energy was commendable, the government's action showed lack of compassion and commitment to ordinary citizens. Promoting renewable energy, as solar systems do, is commendable and necessary for the future. However, this situation reflects a deeper concern: governance lacking compassion and commitment to the governed. You cannot tell the people to fast while feasting yourself, securing yourself while Nigerians remain unsecured. Nigerians do not expect 100% fulfilment of promises, but they do expect 100% effort, accompanied by measurable improvements and clear explanations when gaps exist. Leadership must serve the people, not isolate itself from their daily struggles. https://allafrica.com/stories/202602170023.html

ormer presidential candidate Peter Obi has said that he and other opposition politicians will accept the winner of the 2027 presidential election if the results are transmitted in real time. Mr Obi made the remark during a protest at the National Assembly on Monday, where he, activist Aisha Yesufu, and others protested against the Godswill Akpabio-led Senate over the removal of the provision for the real-time transmission of election results from the Electoral Act. “We have suffered the danger; that’s what we have suffered before. We don’t want any glitch again,” Mr Obi said. “Simple transmission; it is not a difficult thing. Allow the election go through the normal process; whoever wins, we’ll accept. So, why are you bringing all sorts of confusion?” Meanwhile, Mr Akpabio had on Sunday announced an emergency plenary for Tuesday (tomorrow). Monday’s protest was held at the main entrance of the National Assembly in Abuja, after protesters stormed the centre area at about 9:30 a.m. to demand passage of the Electoral Amendment Bill, which provides for the real-time electronic transmission of results from polling units and is currently under consideration by the Senate. Mr Obi joined the protesters around 10:00 a.m. The Senate has faced widespread criticism following its refusal to pass the bill mandating the electronic transmission of election results into law on Wednesday. Police officers and operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were stationed on the premises, while the intersecting roads leading to the parliament’s complex were partitioned with their vehicles. The protesters marched through the streets of Abuja carrying protest placards with several inscriptions, including ‘Say No To Electoral Fraud’, ‘We Reject The Senate’s Rejection’, ‘Akpabio, E-Transmission Is A Must’, and ‘Transmission Is Progress Not Retrogression’, among others. https://gazettengr.com/well-accept-if-tinubu-wins-2027-presidential-election-based-on-real-time-transmission-of-results-obi/

Peter Obi vowed to combat electoral malpractice ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Obi's latest statement reflected unerased dissatisfaction with the 2023 Nigerian presidential election. Nigerians already look forward to the 2027 polls with some level of optimism. Presidential hopeful Peter Obi on Thursday, February 5, declared that "the criminality witnessed in 2023 will not be tolerated in 2027." In a personally signed statement on Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2026, obtained by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain urged Nigerians to "reject the backward trajectory" allegedly witnessed in the country. In 2023, Obi and his staunch supporters said the former Anambra state governor had won the February 25, 2023, presidential election, and called Bola Tinubu's victory fraudulent. https://www.legit.ng/politics/1695769-breaking-criminality-witnessed-2023-wont-tolerated-2027-obi-declares-talks-tough/ws4e

The South-West National Chairman of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arambambi, has declared that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, remains a member of the party. According to him, Peter Obi never announced his defection from the party and has not picked up a membership form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Arabambi, who spoke during News Central TV’s Breakfast Central, challenged anybody with contrary evidence to present it. “That aside, Peter Obi has not left Labour Party; he is just hibernating in ADC,” he said. To buttress his point, Arabambi argued that several prominent leaders of the ADC openly dumped their former parties and picked up the ADC membership card, but Obi did not follow the process. I say this because we have seen former Vice President resigned PDP and joined ADC, former governor of Rivers resigned from APC and joined ADC, even El-Rufai, and others all resigned openly and obtained their ADC cards. “I challenge anybody to come out and tell me where Obi obtained his own card. For me, Mr Obi is just hibernating,” Arabambi said. He, however, insisted that the Labour Party would not allow Obi to stage a return for the party’s 2027 ticket. https://www./2026/02/02/peter-obi-has-not-left-labour-party-he-is-only-hibernating-in-adc-arabambi/

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized the frequent foreign trips by President Bola Tinubu. Obi, in a statement released via his 𝕏 account in the early hours of Sunday, February 1, submitted that Tinubu prefers to stay abroad rather than stay in Nigeria. In his analysis, Obi submitted that President Tinubu spent the majority of January outside the country and left Nigerians without credible leadership in the face of various challenges. The former Anambra State Governor, in his criticism, listed challenges of insecurity, National Grid collapse and others facing Nigerians, but lamented that President Tinubu seems to prioritize international engagements over pressing national issues. He added that Tinubu only returns to Nigeria to welcome defectors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and jets out of the country again. Obi charged the President and APC to desist from their obsession with power calculations and the next election cycle, and rather focus on tackling the challenges and struggles facing Nigerians. The statement, titled, ‘A Distressing January for Nigeria’ reads in full: This first month serves as a critical measure of the challenges that lie ahead, and it is painfully evident that the situation in the country continues to worsen. Insecurity has surged alarmingly across the nation. In just January, we saw reports of several killings, hundreds of kidnappings and abductions that include children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers with the abductors demanding millions. Farmers remain unable to return to their farms plagued by ongoing insecurity which exacerbates food shortages and rural poverty. “Education stands as a cornerstone of national development, yet countless children remain out of school and those in school cannot attend because of insecurity or teachers’ strikes. This is particularly tragic in Abuja, the seat of government, where schools remain shuttered. This is the same Abuja where billions were squandered on renovating a conference centre for the president and Bus Terminals. One must question whether our leaders genuinely appreciate the vital role of education. Our nation with the worst access to electricity without an abysmal supply have witnessed two grid collapses in just January. While leaders in other nations prioritise domestic governance in January, Nigeria’s president prioritises international engagements over pressing national issues. This month, he spent 23 days abroad across two trips—beginning the year overseas and returning on the 17th, and departing less than 10 days on the 26th to Türkiye, where he remains as of January 31. What urgent matters continuously warrant his absence from the nation? When he does return, it often appears to be merely to welcome defectors into the APC before he jets off again. The collective impact of these events paints a grim portrait of a nation grappling simultaneously with insecurity, economic distress, failing infrastructure, and profound social upheaval. Instead of confronting these urgent challenges head-on in pursuit of solutions, much of the political class remains engrossed in power calculations and the next election cycle. The ruling APC, in particular, seems more concerned with rallies and welcoming defectors than with visiting failing institutions or addressing the daily struggles of the Nigerian people. “A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO.” https://www./2026/02/01/tinubu-prefers-to-stay-abroad-only-returns-to-nigeria-to-welcome-apc-defectors-peter-obi/

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has delayed his defection to ADC due to uncertainties regarding Peter Obi’s presidential ticket. Obasanjo initiated an alliance between Peter Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 elections. Northern leaders reportedly advised Kwankwaso against defection until clarity on Obi's candidacy is secured. Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), is delaying his reported defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) months after engaging with the party leaders due to a lack of assurance that former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, will secure the party’s presidential ticket. As reported on Sunday, February 1, by The Punch, “highly credible sources” within the Kwankwasiya Movement and the ADC disclosed that Kwankwaso’s defection ahead of the 2027 elections was largely dependent on the arrangement. Obi and Kwankwaso were the presidential candidates of the Labour Party (LP) and the NNPP, respectively, in the 2023 election. While Obi came third, Kwankwaso emerged fourth. Obi is presently a member of the ADC, a party he officially joined in December 2025. The proposed alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso has already reached an advanced stage. Sources indicate that both Obi and Kwankwaso have jointly set up a committee to actualise the joint ticket under the ADC. Recall that Obasanjo openly campaigned for Obi in 2023, mobilising support for him nationwide against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, now President Bola Tinubu. https://www.legit.ng/politics/1694998-2027-election-nnpps-kwankwaso-delaying-move-adc-unveiled/

Prophetess Brighttheseer has shared a major prophecy concerning former Anambra State governor Peter Obi In a Facebook post, Brighttheseer urged people to pray for Obi The preacher explained that her revelation about him was divinely inspired. The founder of The Lord of Hosts Miracle Chapel, Bright Ndibunwa, also known as Brighttheseer, has prophesied that a top African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Peter Obi, could be involved in a road accident. In a video recently shared on her Facebook page and reviewed by Legit.ng, Brighttheseer also predicted a fire disaster stemming from a potential vehicle accident, she claimed the presidential hopeful Peter Obi could be involved in. The Spirit of God is talking about Peter Obi. Pray for Peter Obi, against the vehicle he is in, being involved in accident that might burn some of the vehicles, you know. In a related prophecy, Brighttheseer warned of escalating political power struggles, leadership battles, and shifting global alliances, saying some countries may soon be forced into difficult geopolitical choices. As reported by Vanguard, speaking during a recent public engagement, Brighttheseer said the world is entering a period of heightened political tension, marked by internal resistance, coups, and unstable leadership across several regions. There are power tussles among presidents and global leaders. Leadership battles are increasing, and if not properly managed, some of these issues will affect neighbouring countries." Furthermore, the prophetess referenced emerging opposition movements in Russia and Afghanistan, noting that women and students in Afghanistan could form resistance groups with backing from external forces. She further spoke on security concerns in parts of Asia, including the Philippines, and the sudden death of a high-profile actor in India. https://www.legit.ng/politics/1694552-prophetess-predicted-tinubus-victory-releases-prophecy-peter-obi/

Peter Obi drops bombshell every Nigerian must not ignore, he says Tinubu borrowed $90 billion without investing nothing on Nigerian youths, he claim if $5000 is giving to every youth in this country the country will improve economically in a short while. Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has ignited a fresh wave of national discussion by claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has borrowed a staggering $90 billion, raising questions about how such a colossal sum has been spent. In light of Nigeria’s escalating economic struggles, Obi contended that the crisis isn’t due to a lack of resources, but rather a result of misplaced priorities and poor leadership decisions. He suggested that if just 25 percent of the borrowed funds were directed towards Nigerian youths, it could have a transformative effect on the economy. Peter Obi drops bombshell “magine giving Nigerian youths $5,000 each to kickstart their own businesses; you’d see poverty take a nosedive,” Obi remarked. His comments have resonated widely on social media, particularly among young Nigerians grappling with unemployment, inflation, and soaring living costs. Many believe that targeted, well-structured funding could empower millions of youths to become job creators instead of job seekers. Peter Obi drops bombshell Economic experts point out that successful micro-funding initiatives in other developing countries raise important questions about why Nigeria continues to borrow heavily without seeing tangible benefits at the grassroots level. While supporters view Obi’s remarks as a practical approach to tackling youth unemployment and economic stagnation, critics argue that funding alone won’t suffice without robust institutions, accountability, and effective monitoring. Peter Obi drops bombshell Nevertheless, one thing is certain: his statement has reignited a vital national dialogue about borrowing, governance, and empowering the youth. Peter Obi drops bombshell If Nigeria has access to billions of dollars, why are its citizens facing greater poverty than ever? And if young people were genuinely financially empowered, would Nigeria still be struggling to get by? What’s your take, is this a bold solution or an oversimplification? https://www.newsflashngr.com/peter-obi-drops-bombshell-nigerians-cant/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQPMjc1MjU0NjkyNTk4Mjc5AAEe8fZRDTayyzLKFDIURJRYW_PY4ZtYFaDKpwSZBF8uKEFhvLTDZ5NnEL6GjkQ_aem_TlofTpong5jZB8_YJIxmTA

Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate in the last election, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for spending 196 days outside Nigeria in 2025, raising questions about leadership and accountability as the country grapples with severe economic and security challenges. In a statement, Obi highlighted that Nigeria is home to roughly 140 million people living in extreme poverty, with high youth unemployment, widespread hunger, and poor healthcare outcomes. He questioned the absence of the President during such critical times. “Since December 2025, Nigerians have not heard a word from their President. Reports indicate he opted for a holiday in Europe while the nation entered the New Year facing hunger, anxiety, and uncertainty. There was no New Year address, no national broadcast, no leadership voice to provide reassurance or guidance,” Obi said. He also criticised the government’s response to security incidents, pointing out that Nigerians learned about U.S. military strikes on Nigerian soil from foreign media and American officials rather than from the Presidency. Obi further recalled that the administration had previously used an AI-generated image instead of addressing citizens directly. Obi warned that leadership absence during national emergencies undermines unity and national development. “Leadership is not simply issuing press releases; it’s about standing before the people, engaging with them, and offering clarity. We are not asking for perfection; we demand presence,” he said. The former Anambra State governor called for direct communication from the President through media briefings, stressing that Nigerians deserve to know the true state of the nation. “Progress is impossible without unity and consensus, and it begins with strong leadership that sets the tone. When leadership withdraws, unity falters, and the fabric of our society unravels under the weight of mistrust and division,” he added. https://hallmarknews.com/peter-obi-tinubu-spent-196-of-365-days-abroad-in-2025-amid-national-crises/?amp=1

Momodu stated that every major political figure is vying for the presidential ticket. He, however, expressed confidence that despite multiple presidential hopefuls within the ADC, the party would eventually unite behind one candidate. Momodu said, “Everyone is fighting. Atiku believes he deserves the right to get the ticket. Peter Obi believes he must get the ticket. Rotimi Amaechi believes the same thing. Why would anybody want to contest an election if you don’t think you can win? There are so many men of timber and calibre in ADC already who want to run. One of them will get the ticket, and by the grace of God, others will support him. Asked directly whether either Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi should step down, Momodu rejected the idea, stressing that primaries, not consensus, should determine the party’s flagbearer. There is no question of stepping down for anybody. A primary is an election. Consensus is where you step down. We have not reached that stage,” he said. However, he made it clear that Atiku remained his personal choice, describing the former vice president as a “candidate of necessity.” Based on mathematics, based on experience, based on exposure, Atiku Abubakar is the most experienced man we will have in the race today. If you are looking at national formidability, it is Atiku,” he maintained. Momodu argued that Nigeria’s electoral reality required cold political calculations rather than sentiment. The first thing on the card in 2027 will be ethnicity. Every region is aggrieved. This is a game of numbers. You have to sit down and compute where the votes will come from,” he said. Addressing concerns about Atiku’s age, Momodu dismissed them, noting that similar scrutiny was not applied to President Tinubu. I don’t see much difference between the age of Atiku and Tinubu, and I have not heard anyone complain about Tinubu’s age, he argued. He added that Nigeria’s constitution does not mandate rotational presidency. There is nothing in the constitution of Nigeria that says you must do eight years here and eight years there. Power is not automatic because you come from a particular zone,” he said. On public distrust of political defectors, Momodu said defections were neither illegal nor unusual in Nigeria’s political system. There is nothing in the constitution of Nigeria that stops people from defecting. Even the constitutional provisions have not been respected by the ruling party,” the ovation publisher said. He concluded by reiterating that defeating the APC would require experience, unity and strategic alliances. Tinubu is not someone who will go down easily. You need people who have been tried and tested. Otherwise, let us forget it,” he stated. https://www./2026/01/12/atiku-peter-obi-amaechi-fighting-for-presidential-ticket-dele-momodu/

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has queried President Bola Tinubu’s prolonged absence from the presidential villa in Abuja amid Nigeria’s deepening socio-economic and security crises. Mr Obi, a strong critic of Mr Tinubu’s government, said his query was not just a question but a critical demand for accountability in a national emergency. He noted that towards the end of the year 2026, Nigeria will become home to approximately 140 million people living in extreme poverty. We are grappling with one of the hungriest populations globally, staggering insecurity, an unemployment rate exceeding 80 million among our youth, and one of the worst places to be born, with infant mortality rates worse than those of a nation seven times our size,” said Mr Obi. He added, “In the midst of this chaos, where has our president been? Spending 196 days abroad in 2025 alone, more than he has spent within his own country, at a time when we face profound crises. While alleging that Nigerians have not heard a word from the president since December 2025, Mr Obi said, “Reports indicate he opted for a holiday in Europe while the nation was plunged into a New Year marked by hunger, anxiety, and uncertainty.” There was no New Year address, no national broadcast, and no leadership voice to provide reassurance or guidance,” he added. He charged the president to imitate the presidents of other developing nations and berated him for abandoning his office to travel the world. Mr Obi added, “Instead of directly addressing the nation, Nigerians learned about these critical events from foreign media, American officials, and the vague communications from the presidency’s aides known for their propaganda, rather than from their own leader. This is not governance; it’s neglect. The president was seen abroad yet again for another summit while remaining absent from his own country when he is needed the most. Earlier this year, he even sent an AI-generated image to the nation instead of addressing his people face-to-face. Mr Obi further urged Mr Tinubu to stand before Nigerians and clarify the reasons for his absence. We are not asking for perfection; we demand presence. Nigerians are eager to hear from their president through direct media briefings. They deserve to understand the state of their country. You cannot run Nigeria like a personal business or a private club; it is imperative to rebuild and grow our economy through unity and clarity,” he added. Mr Obi further said that in a time of crisis, the absence of leadership is not only troubling but also perilous. “Silence in the face of crisis is the loudest form of failure,” he noted. https://gazettengr.com/where-is-our-president-peter-obi-queries-tinubus-prolonged-absence-from-nigeria/
