Below is the text of my address, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Gubernatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at a World Press Conference on the socioeconomic situation of Ogun State and the 2019 elections. Wednesday 30th January, 2019 Protocols: 1) Gentlemen of the Press, leaders of our great party, our political associates, members of the civil society and other groups present, ladies and gentlemen. 2) Let me once again use this medium to wish everyone here and indeed all Ogun State citizens a happy New Year. My prayer is that all individuals and families in this state – are able to explore their potentials such that we have a glad citizenry and prosperous state in 2019 and beyond. 3) We have called this press conference this morning in good faith to examine the situation of our dear state; because every election year represents a defining moment for any people. It is a period of making choices, either the good or bad. 4) Ogun state is no different as our people will be going to the polls in few weeks to elect new leaders that will superintend over the affairs of this state. Four years in the life of any people is significant and if the experience that our people have had with governments is anything to go by, they must be circumspect and discerning with their choice this time around. 5) A lot has happened in Ogun State within the last eight weeks that campaigns officially started according to INEC timetable. On our part, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign teams have been moving around the three senatorial districts, selling our manifesto, meeting the people, listening to their plight and documenting their demands. 6) We reckon also that other opposition parties woke up recently and started moving around with various soundbites. However, the State of the State address delivered on New Year day by the outgoing governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun caught our attention particularly; and we felt it was proper to interrogate the socioeconomic situation of our state in its proper perspectives. 7) What is the current reality in Ogun State today, if we may ask? Before I venture to offer an answer, it is important to again stress the undoubtable fact that government exist primarily for the welfare and security of citizens; needless to say that any government pursuing policies that do not directly elevate the people’s lives has failed in its mandate. Chapter 2 Section 2b of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) aptly refers. Going around Ogun State today, one can see a largely discontented citizenry because good governance has taken back seat. We have been inundated with variety of misapplied activities that brought about neglect of important sectors that could have enhanced our human capacity. Aside the attendant indebtedness traceable to poor priority setting and misallocation of projects, the state has witnessed vast descent in the areas of education, health, sports, social services and fiscal discipline.9) It is essential to note that Ogun state is one of the most blessed in Nigeria with mineral resources and huge locational advantages; bounded by Lagos State, the economic nerve of the nation and a 20 kilometer stretch of the Atlantic Ocean. The weather is temperate, the soil is fertile, topography is favourable, resources abound across its geography and she is blessed with credible human resources. The opportunities for growth are without bounds and the potentials for sustainable development are limitless. 10) Despite these endowments, the present living conditions of the people is below par and does not reflect these potentials. If these possibilities inherent within us have been vigorously pursued, the socioeconomic development of the state could have been enhanced and the quality of life of our people would have been substantially elevated. On the contrary, insincerity in policy decisions, misapplication of resources and self-aggrandizement on the part of government have combined to slow down our growth. For me, these indicate one thing – Failure of leadership – and a new people-focused leadership is most urgently needed to rescue our state. 11) I do not intend to bore us with details of this decline but it is imperative we take a critical look at the facts and figures in few sectors; especially the human capital element – being education and health, our public finance management and other insights. 12) Education in Ogun state today is in shambles with abysmal funding, decrepit infrastructure, unmotivated teachers and a disillusioned student populace. For a state that had education as the bedrock of its evolution and the claim to fame of our forebears, the parlous state of this critical sector is not just a travesty of today’s government but big indictment of our future potentials. 13) Whereas government’s figures indicate that 20% of yearly budgets are allocated to education, the reality is that actual disbursements to that sector stood less at about 6%; year on year. Current educational institution capacity in the state indicates 1,440 public primary schools, 471 public secondary schools, 7 public technical colleges, 5 state owned polytechnics and 2 state owned universities; one would have thought that enhancing the infrastructure in these citadels, improving capacity and welfare of teachers and improving affordability – will be the priority of government but alas, the opposite is the case. 14) In 2016 and 2017 for instance, education budget stood at N40billion out of a total budget of N200billion representing 20%. However, results from implementation of the budget appear to indicate that far less than stated was spent on the sector. Consequently, students still provide their table and chairs while many primary schools are structurally defective with lack of investment on them; aside the UBEC and SDGs counterpart interventions; that are at best palliative. Subventions to our tertiary institutions have been halted for several years as there is no single block of teaching room laid in any of these schools in the last seven years; with the exception of ETF and TETFUND interventions. 15) The big controversy at Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) – over several months of unpaid salaries and the MAPOLY/MAUTECH imbroglio - are sad signposts of the current decay. Ogun continually recedes in examination performances and shamefully, we are currently ranked 19th by WASSCE result as at 2017-2018. Besides the inadvertent abolition of bursary support to our indigent students for many years now, upgraded educational infrastructure is lacking despite increase in enrollment figures for primary and secondary schools that jumped by 38% from 2013 to 2018; without commensurate infrastructure. 16) We are still shocked at the policy mindset that brought about the failed Model Schools project that has seen huge structures built in remote locations across the state – at not less than N1.2billion per unit – culminating in waste! Whereas, our legacy schools such as Abeokuta Grammar School, Baptist Boys High School, Iganmode Grammar School, Yewa College and Ijebu-Ode Grammar School and Remo Secondary School; among several others, with ample space for expansion and opportunity to be made ‘model colleges of excellence’ have been abandoned; rather, government preferred to invest in new buildings without requisite needs assessment; which are today homes to reptiles and hoodlums. 17) Equally central to a people’s development is their healthcare. This is one area that Ogun citizens must roundly condemn the outgoing APC/APM administration; and I used the word APC and APM advisedly because the operators of this government are currently distributed within these two parties; and will definitely carry the assets and liabilities of the administration. 18) Our healthcare system is in coma; dilapidated structurally and functionally. Basic equipment are lacking with ineffective emergency preparedness and low-skilled and inadequate manpower. Today Ogun state has 25 state hospitals and 4 Comprehensive healthcare centers – of which just one at Totoro Abeokuta is barely functional. To these facilities we have 200 medical doctors, 650 nurses, 30 laboratory technicians and 20 physiotherapist working in the general hospitals secondary and primary healthcare centres across the state. 19) It is shocking that all the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs in the state have a combined 20 medical doctors while medical consultants at both the Ministry of Health and Hospitals Management Board is less than 30; a very worrisome development that has affected the health of our people; while government continues to look the other way. To a population of 5.7million, this is abysmal and inadequate and because Ogun state is currently doing a doctor-patient ratio of 1:6,000 quite below the national ratio of 1:4500; even though all still fall short of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended 1:600. 20) This is coupled with lack of basic drugs provisions and very low investment in training and emolument to operators. The once vibrant Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) that was adjudged the third best in Nigeria as at 2004 is today a mere consulting clinic; where the best brains have escaped to seek greener pasture elsewhere owing to pathetic funding and decaying infrastructure. This is not surprising as there is no single CT or MRI machine in any government facility in the state; while the only addition in OOUTH in 8 years is the Ultrasound Scan machine procured through the kind intervention of a philanthropist. The state’s community based health insurance scheme called Araya has been operated in tokenism and incapable of meeting the administration’s promise of free healthcare for pregnant women, children under 5 and the elderly – which was lavishly made in 2011; but have proven to be a charade. 21) We have taken notice however of the attempt to construct a 250-bed modern hospital, but of course, we are again dumbfounded by the wayward promise by government to fully deliver the hospital by May, 2019; a wild goose chase considering the project is still at infancy at January 2019. It is saddening also that there is no pipe borne water in most locations in Ogun state today as our people rely on crowded boreholes, shallow wells, river and other unclean sources of water; that have become responsible for the increase in water-borne diseases in the state. What is more ridiculing, outpatients in most of our hospitals also have to bring in their water to these facilities because the hospitals simply lack it! 22) Essentially, it is safe to say that the current administration has failed woefully in human capital development. The prohibitive cost of our governance and misapplication of scarce resources to graft-ridden projects have denied citizens access to quality education and affordable healthcare. 23) Ladies and gentlemen, One of the cardinal programmes of the current administration is Urban renewal – with road infrastructure development as its core; but the efforts have been limited to only flyovers and expansion of existing roads within limited parts of Ogun state and because of the insincerity around the projects, we are not surprised that the last eight years have witnessed a government that embarked on gale of misdirected activities that saw emergence of some widened roads and several flyovers but in the process – built a people discontented and stricken with poverty. 24) When we talk of good road networks as facilitator of development, this government again got it wrong! Despite the big outlay, spending over 70% of capital votes on flyovers and road expansions, it will interest us to know that vast majority of our rural and community roads are in various state of disrepair; causing pain and anguish for the people. No wonder, the National Competitiveness report on states done by the National Competitiveness Council of Nigeria (NCCN), rated Ogun state as number 36 out of 36 states of the federation in terms of quality of roads! 25) A trip to our towns and local communities will reveal an appalling condition of these areas lacking in motorable roads, infrastructure and other social amenities; a situation that has suppressed the economic growth of the state significantly due to the potentials inherent in these areas vis-à-vis lost opportunities. 26) Government again expressed barefaced falsehoods when it said; and I quote again in parts from Mr. Governor’s new year address, “Construction of over 357.11km of brand new Ogun Standard roads; Construction of an additional 100km of brand new Ogun Standard roads; Construction of 25 Ogun Standard Semi-Urban Roads spanning a total distance of 293.34km throughout the State; and Construction of another 171 Ogun Standard Rural Feeder Roads spanning 1,283km in all the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State”; [End of quote]. The question to ask is, where are these “constructed roads”? 27) Another blight on the purported urban renewal drive of this government is the destruction of the means of livelihood of our people without adequate compensation plan to displaced persons and in most instances, no compensation at all. Do we even talk of the defacement of the environment in some parts of the state; where after several years of demolitions, construction has yet to commence or in bits-parts; leaving the people with untold hardships and mental torture. 28) The most regrettable aspect of the infrastructural programme of the government is the lack of linkage between heavy expenditures recorded on the sector and stimulation of the local economy because it lacks local content, multiplier effect and inclusiveness of the people in terms of their participation; as most aspect of the value chain have been outsourced; be it granite, asphalt, iron, earth core, earth moving equipment and even water. For it was foremost economist, Maynard Keynes who propounded the theory that “Governments must embark on capital projects to stimulate the local economy for continuous income regeneration and sustained growth”. 29) The major tool in the hands of a state government in a federation is the fiscal policy regime and administration. Today our public financial management system is not transparent and our economic fortunes reversed. The basic principles of fiscal sustainability are not adhered to. With deficits and rising debt servicing to the tune of N3.64billion monthly from FAAC allocations. 30) With an external debt overhang of $107.5million as at December 2017 (up from $103.4million in 2016), coupled with an increase in domestic debt that rose from N58.48billion in 2013 to N106.53billion in 2017 – totaling N140billion as at 2018; our debt servicing (moving at 18% every year) has created huge dent on future revenue prospects and developmental plans.

An Ogun State First Class Monarch, the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Olufemi Omolade, on Thursday declared open support for Gboyega Isiaka, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Ogun State, saying he is most qualified to govern the State in the next political dispensation. The monarch while receiving the governorship candidate’s entourage in his Palace at Ibara, Abeokuta, stressed that Isiaka is not only the most qualified candidate among other candidates running for the position but that he has the native intelligence to lead the state on a path of abundance. Olubara, a close friend of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who recalled that he did not support the ADC standard-bearer in 2011 and 2015, explained that his support for him this time, was in the spirit of fairness and equity for the Ogun West people. Oba Omolade who rued the decision of the incumbent to not consult the elders of Yewaland before choosing a successor, maintained that Isiaka was well positioned to win the impending election. “I am with GNI now. Although, I didn’t support him in previous elections but after checking his background and record and that of other candidates, and I can say he is the one my heart chooses. If we closely check other candidates in this race, you will find out they are not on a par with him. “When other Candidates came calling, I said in my mind, I will do the right thing. And it is only right that we support a candidate from a region that has never had the opportunity to govern our State. Although, he looks gentle but he is a man of no mean repute. I am particularly happy with the political Party he has chosen”. Oba Omolade stated further, “Where he is, he is standing on the rock. If GNI emerges Governor, we would not be disappointed. He is educated, learned and has a good understanding of financial management. He has been on this journey for long. He is courageous and resilient. As far as I am supporting him and God is also behind him and with the backing of my friend (OBJ), victory is certain.” Earlier, Isiaka pledged to take the State to greater heights, saying this would be achieved by tapping the array of opportunities in the Gateway State. He identified traditional institutions as a vital component of his administration’s plans to promote good governance, morals and values reorientation. According to the governorship hopeful, “We are of the firm belief that our people can indeed live a life of abundance because we have so many opportunities available to us. We have a lot of advantages as a State, and our top objective will be deriving maximum benefit from our many edges as a State. I have a sincerity of purpose to serve our people and I can say with all honesty that I will not disappoint Ogun State people if I am entrusted with the governorship position.” Foremost Educationist and the Asiwaju of Yewa land, Prof. Anthony Asiwaju who was also present at the occasion, described the ADC governorship candidate as a “Son one can be proud of anywhere” assuring that he would not renege on his campaign promises. https://www.newsheadline247.com/2019/01/24/ogun-top-monarch-backs-adcs-gboyega-isiaka-says-hes-most-qualified-to-govern-the-state/ |
African Democratic Congress (ADC) Gubernatorial candidate in Ogun state, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, GNI, has commiserated with the monarch of Owode-Yewa town, Oba Akindele JP and good the people of Owode-Yewa town over the death of five person in the area who were killed by rampaging operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday. In a statement released in Abeokuta the state capital and signed by his spokesperson, Mr. Bolaji Adeniji, Isiaka condemned in totality, the circumstances that led to the death of innocent persons who had gone about their daily activities on the day. He noted, “I find this saddening and unacceptable that this has to happen to our people. The men of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) have acted in utmost bad faith even while enforcing their constitutional duties”. “While I do not support the flouting of government rules as it relates to contrabands and prohibited goods by anyone, the agency must go about its duties with respect for the dignity and sanctity of human lives”. The Guber hopeful was particularly sad that the victims included two pupils that were cut down in their budding age. Continuing, “Every of the soul lost are precious but the death of kids in this manner is indeed a sobering development which all men of goodwill must rise to condemn”. “I am aware that there are extant rules which gives the custom officers the powers to pursue or enforce up to a certain distance off the border; but once there is a lax on their part and such goods get into the township, they must exhibit great restraint in rectifying the anomaly. GNI in the statement called for reforms of enforcement operations by the Customs Service and urged the appropriate authorities to investigate the dastardly act and ensure justice for those affected. Isiaka while counselling the protesting youths of the town not take laws into their hands but allow the security agencies wade into the matter; also prayed for the repose of the departed souls and the fortitude for their families to bear the huge loss. https://www.newsheadline247.com/2019/01/22/ogun-customs-killings-gboyega-isiaka-commiserates-with-victims-of-owode-yewa/ |
In all the places we have visited, we saw clear evidence of dilapidating infrastructure and state amenities that need urgent rehabilitation and reconstruction, we saw an inflation pressured society with enormous problems of the unemployed and underemployed people in our communities. We saw a clear picture of total neglect of rural communities and we came into direct contact with our youths that are becoming restive and agitated over their poor living conditions. We met women who are daily confronted with enormous distress of poverty and inattention over their living standard These unacceptable situations in our state today had ignited the zeal of patriotism in us as a new political party to come to lead a responsive government with utmost commitment to service delivery and to provide exemplary leadership to fill the wide gap between the haves and have not in order to secure our environment and create a lasting peace around us. For a greater Ogun state Think GNI Vote ADC

I have also looked through the seven points agenda in his manifesto. The simplest truth is that they are drawn from the concept of Sustainable Development Goals objectives (SDG). This of course is a good news for the people of Ogun State that we have a candidate who has chosen to align his administration's policies along the global developmental agenda. Ogun state people has a lot to gain from his digital experience and expertise in administration . This is the only candidate i have seen with adequate capacity to efficiently and sufficiently drive the economy of the state to stimulate rapid economic growth and development in realization of our dream for greater Ogun. I therefore recommend him as the better choice for a better Ogun state Just take look through the underlisted photo graphics and you will agree with me it's going to be a new dawn in Ogun state with GNI ADC Ajiroba Dapo Oke

Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) Gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has vowed to fastrack significant development in Ado-Odo/Ota and other economic belts of the state, if elected governor in the forthcoming election. Isiaka gave this assurance on Thursday in Ota during a rally, held to round up a three-day campaign tour of the local government area; his second in recent weeks. Addressing a mammoth crowd in Igbo-Olori Square Ota, the ADC flagbearer vowed to pursue his 7 steps to abundance manifesto vigorously and by extension create a working environment for businesses to thrive. According to the governorship hopeful, Ota which is regarded as the industrial hub of the State lacks adequate infrastructural development commensurate with its status as the biggest contributor to internally generated revenue in the State. He described the local government as one with huge economic potential, assuring that his administration if elected would “leverage on all opportunities and possibities around Ota.” His words “We have to bring significant development to Ota because of the huge possibilities here. It is one of the most important local governments in this state for many reasons. Also, because we border Lagos, we are going to be setting up a development vehicle called Border Towns Development Agency to monitor and bring development to our border towns.” “I am assuring you that our administration shall be committed to making Ota and all other major economic belts along Ifo, Sagamu, Obafemi-Owode great. We have already, a blueprint on how to achieve this and we shall hit the ground running.” Speaking further, the two-time governorship candidate promised to give immediate attention to roads around Ado, Igbesa and Agbara axis within the first 30 days of his administration, if elected into office. While soliciting the support of the Yewa/Awori people ahead of the forthcoming election, the governorship candidate urged them to reject platforms parading deputy governorship candidates from Ogun West. This, he said would not in anyway solve the various challenges and hardships facing the Senatorial district. “This is injury time for the Ogun West -Yewa Awori people. Today, in Ogun west, I am that person that has the best chance of delivering to us what we want. I can say that in all honesty because I am the candidate with the requisite experience, independence and capability. All other candidates are being pushed but I am running my race independently”, he submitted. https://www.newsheadline247.com/2019/01/18/ogun-industrial-hubs-will-enjoy-top-priority-under-my-watch-gboyega-isiaka/ |
Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Adejoke Adeleye, Abeokuta The African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, GNI, has charged the entire student populace in Ogun State to be actively involved in the forthcoming elections, telling them to support candidates with proven pedigree and character in order to secure their future. GNI gave the admonition while addressing students of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa who came out in their numbers to show support for the governorship hopeful during his campaign tour of Igbesa in Ado/Odo-Ota local government area of the state. According to Isiaka, students could not afford to show political apathy, especially as the stakes were much higher in the 2019 elections. He urged them to anchor their voting decision on competence, credibility and antecedents of individual candidates rather than be swayed by inducements from “looters under the guise of politicians.” “What I can say to you, is that I am no stranger to you all. You know me and my records are in the public domain. As students, you must sit down on your own and make informed assessment of all the candidates and then make your informed decision”. He stated further, “It should not be a matter of the highest bidder. My message to you is that you should not sit on the fence. You should get involved. Choose wisely and bear in mind that if you choose well, you will be at peace with yourselves and also secure your future through dividends of good governance.” The two-time governorship candidate, however, promised to resuscitate the bursary and scholarship board for the State’s tertiary institutions. He added that his administration if elected will promote vocational training and encourage Students to embrace entrepreneurship, noting also that human capital development ranks high on his government’s priorities. “As governor, I will promote technical and vocational education. These days, it is not necessarily about what you study in school, but more about what you have passion for. Ours is to help you pursue your passion and make a living from it. We must also understand that if we do not invest in human capital development, we are not going anywhere.” he submitted https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/01/16/isiaka-to-students-vote-competent-candidates-to-secure-your-future/ |
“We will never accept Amosun's stooge” - Concerned Ogun Teachers It now sounds very absurd for the gubernatorial candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Hon. Kunle Akinlade, who is a known stooge and candidate of Governor Amosun to approach us for support. A stooge of a governor who has stopped paying running cost to public schools for over 3 years, stopped promotion and training of teachers, stopped payment of gratuities and most importantly stopped the remittance of cooperative deductions. Amosun sacked NLC chair, Comrade Akeem Ambali and 14 others. He suspended 18 teachers during the 2016 World Teachers Day celebration on October 5 in Abeokuta. Those dismissed were A.O. Oshin, Nola Balogun, Eniola Atiku, Solaru.O., Adebanjo T., Akinola A.S., Oyolola S.A., Obafemi O.B., Ogunsola Peter, Akinlade S.A., Christopher T.A., Ogunrombi A.A., Azeez K.I. and Taiwo A.O. Those suspended were Odusanya S.A., Comrade Akapo, Adegbesan J.O., Adelami S. I., Obadara O., Ogunnuga O.A., Ayokambi T.A., Tijani A.A., Adegbesan J.O., Idowu A.O., Olaifa O.A., Bayo Lasore, Ahmodu S.A., Oludotun Oliyide, Tijani Y.A., Awode I.A., Dada O.A. and Adesanya Abiola. We don't want the continuation of Amosun's draconian policies through Hon Akinlade of APM. We will speak with our PVCs. Ogun Teachers are not for sale. The N5m you gave to the excos of ASUSS and NUT is our entitlement. Ogun Teachers deserve to have it good and better because we have had it bad and worse under Amosun. |
Mr Gboyega Isiaka a.k.a GNI, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State has warned the electorate that politicians with questionable traits would not engender the desired national development. The former General Manager of Gateway Holdings made the assertion while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria after his electoral campaign visit to Ibafo community along Lagos/Ibadan expressway on Thursday. Isiaka, a two-time governorship candidate is now seeking to become the sixth democratically elected governor of the gateway state after the incumbent, Ibikunle Amosun. He said that politicians with already blemished record could in no way possess a good intention for the people and the development of the nation. “I will advise the electorate to check on the background of those that are seeking to represent them. Many of them have tarnished records. “Some of them have certificate scandals while some have criminal records, and if I may ask, can those with such records bring any development to the nation? “It is regrettable that we have people with questionable characters vying for public offices in Nigeria, but be that as it may, the electorate should ensure that they reject them at the polls. “In Ogun State, we have some of them with such records aspiring to be in government and I charge the electorate to be wary of such personalities. “Some of the politicians will be claiming that they have changed, but can a leopard change its spot? We need honest people to manage the affairs of this country not the corrupt ones https://punchng.com/2019-elections-reject-politicians-with-questionable-traits-adc-advises-voters/ |
Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, on Tuesday, warned that any move by the opposition to manipulate results of the forthcoming election will come to nothing. Isiaka who maintained that results of the forthcoming election will be a true reflection of the people’s choice gave the warning during his campaign tour of Moloki-Asipa and other wards in Obafemi Owode local government area of the State. In a statement made available to newsheadline247, the two-time governorship candidate said the rumours that the elections will be rigged by the opposition is “laughable and impossible”, insisting that his party, ADC will oust the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State. He said “I am aware they are saying the coming election will be rigged. It is quite laughable really. I can’t even begin to dignify such claims with any serious thought because I am sure it can not work. I can tell you categorically no opposition can upturn this election with what is on ground. We have the full support of the people and and they will surely stand by their votes” Continuing, Isiaka said “It is not possible for us to be working day and night, taking our campaign to all corners of the state, and someone somewhere will believe they can alter things. No, that cannot happen in our own Ogun State. We will win and we shall win convincingly.” In the meantime, the governorship hopeful promised to bring governance closer to the people by empowering local governments to function with considerable degree of operational autonomy. Describing the infrastructural development in the area and by extension Obafemi Owode local government as abysmal, GNI as fondly called said his government, if elected, will right the wrongs of the current administration in the State. “Having been to this area more than twice now, I can say for sure that infrastructure here is poor. Our roads are bad. I can say the same of electricity, water, proper health care and others. While the government can not truly do everything for the people, ours will ensure that people are given access to a meaningful life, where abundance is assured. “We are not going to tell you that we would do everything. That is not our own style. We don’t make empty promises, but you can hold us accountable to our words. Whatever we say we shall do when we get to government, we would do.” he submitted.” https://www.newsheadline247.com/2019/01/09/ogun-adc-guber-candidate-gboyega-isiaka-talks-tough-warns-against-rigging-ploy-by-opposition/ |
Ogun gubernatorial candidate of Africa Democratic Congress, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) ON Sunday highlighted why he should be elected as the next governor of the state. The ADC candidate who is popularly known as GNI spoke during the Ogun Civil Society Conversation forum with the governorship candidates organised by Committee For Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) at the Nigerian Union of Teachers Hall in Abeokuta, the state capital. According to him, good governance is not just about governing the people, but about looking into their welfare. “Yes, we have taken huge leaps forward, but we are still punching below our weight in terms of development and exploitations of our inherent potentials. The core of the conversation around development is about the economy and how it is managed for the welfare of the people and to this end, the state is still largely restrained and remains a bundle of possibilities. “In terms of human capital development, we always scored first, even though that is no longer the case despite our early exposure to education a situation that earned us the reputation as arguably the most educationally advanced state in the Nigerian federation. “Ogun state has evolved in terms of socioeconomic and physical growth having progressed from the rustic civil service state to an emerging hub in the West African sub-region. “The fundamental aim of governance is about development, and I believe it is about creating an environment in which people can develop their full potentials and live a healthy, happy and productive lives in accord with their belief and interests; but this can only be sustained if it meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. “I also believe that economic growth and social infrastructure are only means to an end. That end is human development. Therefore if what leaders, especially at state levels do is to concentrate on awarding contracts to build physical structures but fail to relate this to the effect on the people today and in the future, then such have only embarked on a medley of misdirected activities.” He added that his programme, the seven steps to Abundance which consist of Education, Healthcare Water and Sanitation ,Employment opportunities and Social security, Agriculture and Rural Development, infrastructure including Power, Rapid development of our Border Town and cities, Good Governance and Value Re-orientation will address the various challenges facing the people of the state if he is elected in the 2019 general election. GNI promises to return missionary schools to the owner and to convert Model schools built by the incumbent governor, that are yet take off to vocational and Technical education Center by May 29 2019. “We shall return missionary school to the owners, creative and promote vocational and Technical education, model schools that are yet to take off by 29 may 2019,will be converted to vocational technical education center. We shall establish education Trust Fund to support provision of capital infrastructure in our schools. He also promised to declare a state of emergency in health care sector and to give free health care services to children between 0-5 years, there will be creation of opportunity of insurance coverage for people between 60-69 years of age and free healthcare system for people who are 69 and above. “In terms of infrastructure the incumbent governor has really done well but good governance is not about building bridges and be one sided but to larger extent, developing the people is developing that state. “Right before now I have contributed to the welfare of the people in Ogun through various socioeconomic intervention either directly or through a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which I facilitated named “Irorun de” for the less privileged. The activities of the NGO cover, agricultural rural roads, health and wellness, education and capacity building and micro support and entrepreneurship skills. He also promised to create good relationship with the border states if elected. The two- time governorship candidate also boasted that none of the governorship candidate knows all the crannies of the state as much as he does not because he was contesting, but because of the good relationship he has built with the people. Comr. Folarin Olayinka, National Secretary CDHR had in his welcome address at the forum noted that democracy can be defined as the Government of the People, For the People and by the People, hence the people’s participation in the election and selection of their leaders is inevitable. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has promised to re-instate sacked labour leaders, including the state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Akeem Ambali if elected into office. Isiaka stated this during his meeting with members of the State Executive Council of the union at the NLC secretariat in Abeokuta, on Friday. He noted that the labour leaders were unjustly relieved of their appointments by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun, submitting that workers welfare would remain a top priority of his administration. https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/181880/ |
I have carefully observe and follow the trends of the emergence of Hon Akinlade as the gubernatorial candidate of APM and the unwaiving support of his Godfather, Governor Ibikunle Amosun. It appears to me in a fast cluster way, the need to put a crown on a clown! And someone might ask, why does the incumbent governor feel extremely very important to imposing a stooge over and above the collective interest of his party faithfuls? Daunting the trend of party supremacy and calling bluff of the party leadership? I took a critical look at what must have made the governor to be this head bent? Is it because of Akinlade's track records or his contribution in the National Assembly? Or his successes in career and business? So I decided to look through his contribution in the last 2years in the National Assembly at least that is what brought him to the limelight. And the purpose for sending him to Abuja is to adequately represent his people. It surprises me to discover that this fellow that is now parading and campaigning of our votes has been a very redundant member of the National Assembly in the past two years! Does that mean he doesn't understand the details of his assignments? He is one of the numerous house of representatives members that has never sponsor a bill and has carted away with a whooping some of 34billion Naira. Each lawmaker gets N7.6 million as running/overhead cost and additional N660, 000 as salary monthly, which amounts to N8.26m monthly. In the last 26 months, each lawmaker has pocketed about N214.7m each, totalling N34.576bn Akinlade in two years as a dummy in the house, earn #214.7m! Not for his sweat but for watching as other people drag developmental projects and incentives to their various community. What? Akinlade doesn't have the basic criteria to succeed amosun by any standard. His understanding of the dynamics of governance is shallow and he can only act base on instructions.how do you entrust power into such hand? Ogun State cannot afford to put a crown on the head of a clown to avoid mockery. VOTE WISELY DONT BE INTIMIDATED VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has said the contention over his academic credentials is an attempt at mudslinging, adding that he never claimed to have graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife). A suit filed earlier this month at a High Court in Abuja sought Abiodun’s disqualification from the governorship race for allegedly giving “false information” in the academic qualification he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission Abiodun, in an appearance on Sunday Politics, a live programme on Channels Television, however, said he had never misrepresented his educational credentials to anyone. The APC candidate stated, “I never claimed to have finished from the University of Ife (now OAU). I did go to school in Ife. I went to school in the University of Ife but I didn’t graduate from the University of Ife. I never claimed to have obtained a degree from the University of Ife.” When asked specifically about the Bachelor of Arts in Accounting degree he claimed to have, Abiodun said he would not comment further. READ ALSO: Boko Haram war has been politicised, says army When also asked to state the school he earned his degree from, the APC candidate said doing so would not be proper since the matter was in court. “But that (degree) is not from Ife. This has all been an attempt to mudsling and confuse the electorate, and it’s bundled with a lot of half-truths. “I never claimed to have studied Accounting at the University of Ife. I never claimed to have graduated from the University of Ife. So, this issue has been presented as the presenter wanted it presented. I do have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and I would like to stop at that. “The electorate know that I went to school and I have not misrepresented to anyone about my degrees. But it would be convenient for those who are intimidated and afraid of my electoral success to continue to attempt to disparage me and to present the matter as falsely as it suits them. The facts are being distorted but we will leave the matter since it is in court.” Abiodun also said the APC chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was not responsible for his victory at the party’s primary in Ogun State as reported in some quarters. Abiodun further denied claims that he won the primary as a result of his alleged closeness to Tinubu and a former Ogun State governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba. He said, “These are accusations that have been thrown all over the place and it is not unusual in politics for people to mudsling and say things to try and bring the other person down. It’s convenient for people to say one is favoured. “I don’t see how Asiwaju, who is our leader, favouring me, had influenced the elections. I never saw any endorsement before my election. “Chief Osoba is the leader of the party in the state. He took me by the hand because I am now the candidate of the party, so everybody in the party must now support me. That is the way it works. The governor (Ibikunle Amosun) has chosen not to support me. Ideally, my governor and I should be on the same page. “So, if you have emerged through a process and you have now become the candidate of the party, everybody who is your leader in that party in that state (and) outside that state, in that geopolitical zone, should be supporting you. Anyone not supporting you amounts to something else.” https://punchng.com/i-dropped-out-of-oau-ogun-apc-gov-candidate-admits/

The failure of some Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, backed by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to decisively deal with Governor Ibikunke Amosun, for alleged anti-party activities has not only confused many members of the party but cast doubt in the minds of the electorate about its seriousness to win the governorship election in 2019. It was learnt that the leadership of the party had mooted the idea of suspending Amosun and withdrawing his senatorial ticket for openly endorsing the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) where most of his allies will contest the next election, but President Muhammadu Buhari was alleged to have frustrated the move. The president’s position on treating Amosun’s matter with kid gloves was said to have angered the national leaders of the party that seem to have no choice but to play along because of the election. It was also learnt that the NWC was planning to exclude Amosun, Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu from the Presidential Campaign Council because of their legal actions against the party, but the source alleged that the president did not agree. There is no doubting the fact that President Buhari has a soft spot for Amosun who has been his political ally since their days in the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and the closeness has made him a sacred cow the Adams Oshiomhole-led national executive cannot touch. But, the party succeeded in announcing the suspension of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party and its other executive committee up to the ward level and replaced them with a three-man caretaker Committee headed by Chief Yemi Sanusi with Mr Ayobami Olubori to serve as Secretary and Tunde Oladunjoye as the Publicity Secretary of the party. The dissolved SWC led by Chief Derin Adebiyi has dismissed its suspension, insisting that it has a four-year mandate and disclosed that there was a petition in court against the decision of the NWC. Amosun did not only assure the state Exco that they would complete their terms but crticised members of the NWC for trying to “destroy Ogun State because it is the home of President Buhari.” For Amosun, both the APC and APM members in Ogun State are working for the re-election of President Buhari and they are to ensure he (Amosun) wins the senatorial election. To him, with the election time table that fixed Presidential and National Assembly elections for February 16, next year and state governorship/State House of Assembly on March 2, 2019 it is possible to use the two weeks period to de-orientate electorate to switch from looking for broom logo on the ballot paper to cassava. But he seems to be getting it wrong. The free-for-all between some members of the APC and APM in Odogbolu and Iperu where many were allegedly wounded must have signaled the dangers ahead when the campaign properly begins. For the members of both parties, the bitter rivalry has begun and all efforts by the governor to make them see themselves as one has not proved successful. While members of SIA political caucus have embraced APM, the members of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) within the party led by the former Governor of the State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba have rejected the double-dealing, otherwise tagged as anti-party activities of the SIA group and have seen the development as opportunity to have their party back. But the APC members were rattled with the takeoff of the APM governorship campaign at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta where Amosun was alleged to have spent over N1billion Naira for mobilisation. The root of the alleged NYSC certificate scam of the APC governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun was traced to some APM members in the state as a way of discrediting the business mogul. Although some people have blamed some APC members for the alleged scandal for losing the primary to Abiodun, it was surprising that Abiodun has not come out clean on the certificate scandal. Also, some APM members have gone to town to remind the electorate on how Abiodun allegedly withdrew electric transformers he donated to some communities in Ogun East Senatorial District after losing the election to the PDP candidate, Senator Buruji Kashamu in 2015. However, some APC leaders in Ogun State have described Amosun as a desperate politician who was bent on destroying the party to achieve a personal interest. They alleged that his desperation to impose Adekunke Akinlade on the state was to cover up on sundry financial misdeeds, which have left the state in a huge debt. To his critics, Ogun State has never been so divided along tribal lines as Amosun’s policies in the last eight years have polarised the indigenes. They have constantly accused him of concentrating infrastructure on only two local councils – Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North local governments while roads in Ogun East and West Senatorial Districts have been abandoned. The non payment of several months of deductions from the civil servants and abysmal treatment meted out to the staff of Tai Solarin University, Ijebu Ode where workers are owed about two years’ salaries and emoluments are part of the criticism of Amosun. But the pig fight between APC and APM members was not strange to many observers who described the imbroglio as reminiscent of what happened between PDP and PPN in 2011. However, Amosun’s supporters have disagreed and opined that the current political scenario is not the same as that of 2011. To them, Amosun has achieved more than his predecessors in office and has more followers who are ready to obey his instructions. They also believe that with the support he is getting from the presidency he is likely to successfully handle two political parties https://guardian.ng/politics/amosuns-journey-from-state-of-confusion-to-desperation/

*GBOYEGA NASIR ISIAKA CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION (GNICO)* *PRESS CONFERENCE* OGUN STATE MUST NOT BECOME A THEATRE OF WAR: CALLING ON OPPOSITION PARTIES TO LET THERE BE PEACEFUL CAMPAIGNS AND ELECTIONS IN OGUN STATE (Being Text of address delivered by the Director General of the Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Campaign Organization (GNICO), Engr Tony Ojeshina on state of the electoral process in Ogun State on Friday 28th December 2018) Protocols: Gentlemen of the Press, members of the Central Working Committee of our campaign organization, leaders of our party, ladies and gentlemen. We have called this press conference this solemn morning due to emergent developments within the Ogun state polity and especially as it affects our campaign. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Campaign Organization is using this medium to call the attention of Ogun State citizens, security agencies, the media and good spirited Nigerians – to the worsening state of security and general atmosphere of uncertainty currently pervasive in Ogun state – even as we approach the general elections in February and March of 2019. Whereas, every society has its share of antisocial elements that habour negative vices and which security agencies have to routinely deal with, we are constrained to observe – with trepidation – the deliberate and orchestrated plan to throw Ogun state into a state of security emergency before and during the elections; thereby making peaceful campaigns either unattainable or altogether make elections in Ogun state impossible. Our campaign organization is not raising false alarm or crying wolf where there is none but we have concrete concerns – and genuinely so, to make this claim. Since the gubernatorial campaigns were officially launched on 1st December 2018, we have been yon the road campaigning and interfacing with the electorate; within the purview of what is practicable under the electoral law and INEC guidelines. However, two issues are pertinent. First, we have unimpeachable information and tested facts to the fact that there are premeditated plans to subvert the electoral process via provocations and violence. Secondly, we have noticed and recorded sequence of events since 1st December – that serve as pointers to our assumptions. The first indication of hostility occurred on Saturday 1st December 2018, when officials of the Ogun State Signage and Advertisement Agency attacked our advert materials (A-Boards) which were placed at strategic points in parts of Abeokuta – defacing them and carting it away where possible. It took the direct intervention and confrontation of the rampaging officials by Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka before temporary order was restored. We recall also that the background to this was the initial evasiveness of the agency in receiving our approval request before the incidence. For us, this was the first signal that order and peaceful coexistence of opposing political parties may be prevented by exuberant proxies and agencies of government. However, we have – very recently opened fresh communication line with the agency with several correspondences to that effect; suffice it to say that we are now forging an understanding. The second indication of hostility happened on 5th December 2018, when our campaign convoy was brutally attacked at Ibese in Yewa North Local Government area by suspected agents of an opposition party. In that attack, one of our supporters sustained gunshot wounds and currently struggling to recover at the hospital. Another one of us had deep glass cut wounds; while many that escaped into thorny bushes got various levels of injuries and mental tremor. The incidence was reported to the police and widely reported by the media; but we have it on good authority that the perpetrators are verified political thugs of a major political party in the state. The third discomforting incidence occurred on 8th December, 2018 during the last day of our campaign tour to Abeokuta North local government; when some assailant stormed the venue and cut down a young and vibrant member of our party; ostensibly to embarrass us and create fear in the mind of our supporters. The lead mastermind of this dastardly act is a known agent of a splinter opposition party who recently left prison having been earlier jailed for second degree murder. What more, a day after that, we prevented what could have been the fifth recorded violent event when we regrettably cancelled our planed tour of Odogbolu local government slated for 10th December, 2018 due to unfavourable but very reliable security reports which indicted that agents of the governorship candidate of an opposing political party had stationed deadly cultists to truncate our tour and possibly ensure a fatal incident there. From the foregoing, we see a sustained orgy of violence that are proving fatal at each turn. We also observe, having in hindsight the reliable information at our disposal that there are certain opposition parties that are deliberately triggering this crisis towards making Ogun state a theatre of war such that peaceful campaigns will be impossible and unfit to have elections here. They also intend to precipitate a possible declaration of ‘State of Emergency’ in the process; thereby truncating the democratic process in our state. Ladies and Gentlemen, moving away from core security concerns, we are again shocked at the display of intolerance, impunity and breach of peace by our opposition. Since two weeks ago, we installed on some parts of the state capital and other towns, our advert materials called A-Boards; usually put on road medians. This similar initiative is also implemented by the ruling APC and its splinter party APM; where they also placed their A-Boards on the road medians and all co-existed. We noticed however that sine the 20th of December, our reflective A-Boards began to disappear one after the other from the roads. Our initial inquest showed that it was not carried out by the state signage agency; and after deploying our people for late-night monitoring, we discovered – to our charging – that it was some hoodlums that were defacing the boards and carting them away with impunity. On two occasion last week, our surveillance group met the hoodlums in action and upon seeing some faces they didn’t know, they jumped into their car and ran away. Some of them adorned branded apparels (T-shirts and car stickers) that that gave them away as agents of the ruling APC and APM. Just four days ago, the police patrol van from the Ibara division accosted these hoodlums while throwing our boards into the gutter and defacing them. On sighting the police van parking by them, they again bolted away. Indeed, we got hints from the police to that effect. After having spent monies to make more A-Boards and putting them back on the roads two day ago, the agents of APC and APM went berserk and carted away the boards – throwing them into a deep canal at Omida road beside the palace of the Olubara of Ibara. We have since recovered the materials from the dump site. The pictures and video of the incidence are hereby displayed. We must state also that these nefarious and antisocial act have been reported to the police for commensurate action. Even in Lagos state the A-Boards of APC and PDP do coexist with no acrimony. We condemn these incidence in their entirety. Our party, ADC is peaceful and our governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) is peace loving and has a history of violence-free, issues-based campaigns since 2011. We do not know why the opposition is frightened of competitive campaigns and hell-bent on bringing down the house. We urge that they halt these negative trend because we shall henceforth resist these shameful acts with all that is lawfully feasible. We hereby call on the Commander-in-Chief of Nigerians Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of Police, Director General of Department of State Security, Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Civil Society Organizations, the Media and generality of Nigerians – to the worsening but purposefully crafted security situation in Ogun state. All men of goodwill must intervene now and not allow desperate men foist the reign of terror on the good people of Ogun state – who shall willfully exercise their democratic right come March 2nd 2019. Finally, Ogun state is a land blessed by God with unique resources and potentials. No doubt the last few years have witnessed vast decline in all facets of our socioeconomic life; hence the need for a paradigm shift from darkness into light and from self-aggrandizement to People-centered governance. In the ADC and GNI, Ogun people will smile again.

A group under the umbrella of Political Parties Chairmen Forum has dissociated themselves from the purported adoption of the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement in Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, as a consensus candidate of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in the state. The body consisting of chairmen of 10 political parties at a news conference in Abeokuta, on Wednesday, said it had written a petition to the IPAC National Chairman, Chief Peter Amen, over alleged gross misconduct on the part of the state chairman of IPAC. The parties who dissociated from the adoption were; Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP), All Blending Party (ABP), Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), and Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA). Others are Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC), National Democratic Liberty Party (NDLP), National Action Congress (NAC), Masses Movement of Nigeria (MMN), and Freedom and Justice Party (FJP). ALSO READ: APGA: Tivs deserve presidency ― Tor Tiv The spokesperson of the parties chairmen, Comrade Olusegun Olufemi, said the said adoption had caused the body great embarrassment saying that IPAC has no mandate to endorse or adopt any governorship candidate. He said: “It will be recalled that recently, a majority of political parties in Ogun State elected people to the executive of IPAC to steer the leadership of the group. In other words, they gave a year mandate of trust, which refers to confidence in political and public institutions. “We have about 38 political parties contesting the 2019 general elections in Ogun State and also in political parties that is made up of politicians who hold divergent ideologies. “It is not surprising and we are not expecting the Arabambi Abayomi-led exco in IPAC not to have a hidden agenda that will be different from the established norms and code of conduct guiding the political parties constituting IPAC. “But what is amazing and tongue wagging was that IPAC is being gradually wracked by discerning hidden agenda which has resulted to disunity among the rank and file of the parties constituting IPAC.” https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/180921

Till I die, Buhari'll continue to address me as sir; I'm most qualified to criticise him. obasanjo-buhari Buhari and Obasanjo Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday, said he is most qualified to criticise President Muhammadu Buhari, having presided over the affairs of the country at different times. He said this at the 2018 Ibogun Day celebration which attracted notable indigenes of the state which include Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, two gubernatorial candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Allied People’s Movement (APM), Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Hon. Adekunle Akinlade respectively. Obasanjo equally advised Amosun not to get involved in his public spat with Buhari, saying both of them are soldiers. He said, “I know Buhari and he too knows me. Till the day I die, Buhari will continue to address me as ‘sir.’ In 2015, if I didn’t support Buhari, he wouldn’t have won the election. I have what it takes to correct him. Nigeria should not be in the position we are today. Nigeria can be better. God has given us all that we need. “I am qualified to speak against Buhari. One, I have done it before. Two, I have shed my blood for this country. Even my biological son has shed his blood. Why can’t I speak about what is best for this country? I am doubly qualified to do that.” On the governorship election in 2019, the former President said God’s will is important in the choice of who becomes the governor of the State, irrespective of what individuals or collective interest may be. He cautioned politicians against violence, contending that there are no reasons the country should not have a peaceful election in the state. Obasanjo said, “I am particularly happy that the governor spoke against violence. I want to tell you, if you do not stop violence among your supporters, you will have yourself to blame. There is no earthly reason we should not have a peaceful election in the state” He also directed the two governorship candidates to embrace themselves openly and also pointed out that the two would find themselves to blame if they do not caution their supporters against violence. Obasanjo described Amosun as his dear brother despite their political affiliations. “I have made my choice, it may not be in tandem with yours. Let my choice be and let yours be and let God decide and whoever gets there let all of us support him,” he submitted. Amosun in his remarks urged politicians to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and not heat up the polity in the interest of the state. |
….Warns Akinlade, Others against Violence ABEOKUTA – Ahead of the 2019 elections in Ogun state, former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday reiterated his support for the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, saying the two-time governorship candidate is his preferred choice for the governorship seat in Ogun State. Obasanjo also warned Isiaka’s counterpart in the Allied People’s Movement (APM) Adekunle Abdulakadir Akinlade to stem the tide of violence being pepetrated by his supporters ahead of the polls. The former President said this at the 2018 Ibogun-Olaogun day Celebration held at his residence in Ibogun, Ifo local government area of the state. The event which had in attendance Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Secretary to the State government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, the ADC and APM governorship candidates, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade respectively, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe and Chief Joju Fadairo among many others. According to Obasanjo, “Irrespective of what the people may wish collectively or individually, the wish of God trumps that of others”. Welcoming both governorship candidates, Obasanjo instructed Isiaka to shake hands with Akinlade, stressing the need for violence -free campaigns ahead of the 2019 elections. He said, “One thing that gladdens my heart on this particular occasion is that we have two gubernatorial candidates here. I welcome you, Candidate Isiaka and I also welcome you, Candidate Akinlade”. Addressing the state governor, senator Ibikunle Amosun, Obasanjo remarked, “You have the right to make your choice which you have made. For 2019, I have also made my choice, which is Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and you all know it”. “In 2011, I didn’t vote for you, but in 2015, I supported you and took you Itoku market and other places to campaign for you. “But whatever my choice may be this time around, it may be in tandem with yours or it may not be, but whatever it is, let my own choice be and let your own choice be and let God make the decision on who will be there and whoever is there, let us all support him”. In a stern warning, Obasanjo told Akinlade to shun all forms of violence, saying, “I am particularly happy that the governor talked against violence. I have been told that in your area, you have started violence and if you do not stop it among your supporters, you will have yourself to blame and also myself to contend with”. In similar vein, the Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba (Dr) Adegboyega Dosumu said Isiaka is the candidate that he and his subjects are comfortable with to succeed Ibikunle Amosun. According to the first class monarch, “Isiaka is our my choice and the choice of my people. He has paid his dues, he is well behaved and is best positioned to succeed my Governor who is seated here today”. Directing his speech to the ADC guber hopeful, “Isiaka, Isiaka, Isiaka, you have our support. I know as a king, I am not supposed to play politics but on this one, I must note that you are the next governor of Ogun state”. In his remark at the event, Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun thanked the people for thier support over the years and sued for tolerance in the forthcoming polls. He stated, “Whichever side of the divide everyone may be, we must tolerate each other and discourage violence just as our Babas have said. There is no reason in this State why we cannot have peaceful elections https://newsflagship.com/ogun-2019-isiaka-is-my-guber-candidate-obasanjo-tells-amosun |
Mr Dapo Abiodun, the owner of Heyden Oil and a friend of the disgraced Diezani Allison Madueke, is the controversial governorship flag bearer of APC Ogun State. The popular believe in Ogun State is that he never won the primary election that purportedly declared him as the winner in Ogun State. The winner was Hon. Adekunle Akinlade who indeed emerged from the real governorship primaries conducted in Ogun State on the 2nd of October 2018. The same process that threw up Akinlade as the winner of governorship primary election in Ogun State also benefited Sanwo-olu of Lagos State. Curiously, it was convenient for Mr Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of APC to announce Sanwo-Olu as the winner in Lagos and rejected Akinlade in Ogun State. Unjustifiably and fathomlessly, Mr Oshiomhole unilaterally and emperorstically announced Mr Dapo Abiodun as the winner. Ogun APC members saw this brazen lawlessness as political fraud of the century perpetrated by the Lagos cabals on political colonization of Ogun State and using Mr Dapo Abiodun as a tool for the exercise. It thus appears that Mr Oshiomhole and his gangs are suicidally bent on fostering Mr Dapo Abiodun on Ogun State APC without minding the negative consequences on the stability and fortunes of APC In Ogun State. Many people have been wondering what political magic wands Mr Dapo Abiodun want to enact that will give him victory in the 2019 election compared to his strategies in 2015 Senate election in Ogun East which he lost woefully. In that election, Mr Dapo Abiodun flopped ingloriously. He even lost his ward in that election. Yes, for that election, Mr Dapo Abiodun was reported to have spent over a billion naira. If indeed he spent a billion naira in his domain and he lost in 2015, he should be prepared for several billions of naira especially in hostile environment of Ogun West, Ogun Central and part of his Ogun East with no guarantee of winning. The Ijebus are indeed are not jolly partying with him on this ticket. The Ijebus believed that Remos that Mr Dapo Abiodun represents are been smarter by half to have hijacked the ticket from Ijebus after Mr Gbenga Daniel from Remo had spent eight years as governor from 2003 to 2007. Many a politician who have had contact with Dapo Abiodun will say: there is no paradise in any relationship with Dapo, if any, it is ONLY Hell. The people of waterside LG in Ijebu have a bitter story to tell. According to Bale Ilapo in Waterside LG, he said: ‘in the build up to the elections in 2015 Mr Dapo Abiodun gave us a transformer to service many communities but after he lost the election he retrieved the transformers and several cable already laid’. Mr Biodun Balogun was one of the nine LG Coordinators for his senate pursuit in 2015. He said ‘Dapo Abiodun gave us a mini bus for his campaign activities in 2015 and after he lost he withdrew all the buses and kept them in his Iperu home to rust away. Unfortunately the value of each of those vehicles was less than N3000,000’. We advised him to leave the vehicles with us for publicity sake .but he choose to take them away and disappeared into thin air’. That is not a strategy of a serious ad populist politician. We all see him as a selfish and self centered individual. To those in APC, hell and not paradise awaits you in Dapo Abiodun political camp. As at today Mr Dapo Abiodun is set to announce a parallel structure of APC from the ward to the State level. The objective is to sidetrack all present APC executive committee members and thrown them into political graves. Even now, for the election that is not yet conducted, he has drawn up his list of Commissioners, Special Advisers and LG Chairmen and no member of the present main stream APC is to benefit. This is death knell to the present APC faithful. To those who want to go to hell, please take a walk to Iperu but if you want paradise, the sure way is Amosun. If you don’t believe there is hell in Dapo Abiodun, wait a few months and see the ‘burning hell’. For me and my entire family we remain in paradise and not hell. *Please don't read alone, educate others on why we must resist imposition in our dear gateway state* Copied |

Going around Ogun State today, one can see a largely discontented citizenry because good governance has taken back seat. We have been inundated with variety of misapplied activities that brought about neglect of important sectors that could have enhanced our human capacity. Aside the attendant indebtedness traceable to poor priority setting and misallocation of projects, the state has witnessed vast descent in the areas of education, health, sports, social services and fiscal discipline.
