i tell you....

hello house..finally went in for my interview today o ---so much crowd! i was like: why do we all have to be here? Well, i answered that question myself in my head.

The VO that attended to me was a no-joke dude, straight face, refused like 3 people before me under one minute.i just told myself, its no do or die jor - i would jst visit other countries. So,

Transcript:
Vo: hey, you look stupid...go away.

me: noooooo!!!.....ok Just kidding --real convo:


Vo: Goodmorning
Me: Hi, Goodmorning
VO: why do you want to go to the US?
Me: Visit my closefriend and sightsee *he types*
VO: So what do you do?
Me: am an IT bla bla bla with Bla bla bla institution *he types*
VO: Where do you wanna go in the US?
Me; First stop is to ohio to see my friend but we have plans to visit other cities too
VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria before?
Me: Yes, i listed the countries *he types and checks passport*
VO: Well, am sorry..you do not qualify at this time, picked up the blue sheet
opened my passport to slide it in, looked up at his screen, then paused and said " oh wait a minute, something came up" *my heart skipped a thousand beats* as i exclaimed "wow!"and he started typing again and again (i wonder what all of them keep typing with those fast fingers)

he kept trying to do something to my passport for a while then said " am sorry am having a little issue wit my system" ( at this point, my soul was at the mosque praying - was just my body at the embassy waiting)

then finally, he said "ok, here u go" (handing me the white paper for pickup)

At this point, i could only whisper a thank you.
Dont knw if he was kidding abt denying me at first or he actually saw sumthng and changd his mind--watever it was, he got me!


I honestly do not know what these people look out for, its amazing how they do these things to decide who to give or not. My advise is just: State the truth. Its better to be denied when you stated the truth, you know you qualify & wont misuse the privilege than to be denied if you cooked up stories.

Oooh I almost forgot, I'm a first time applicant, no travel history, passport even expires in few months and also single and searching . While they were dishing out blue slips I kept smiling and telling myself "dude, you are sharp, the VO can't intimidate you, you ain't broke, talk with confidence"

hi dear sometimes the income doesn't matter actually, in my case I actually earn but I haven't been consistent with my business because of my baby, so I stated my husband is the full sponsor and I filled doesn't apply to the income part, people who earn 120k, 100k and even 80k have gotten visas

The form differs for men and females. It is more elaborate for men.
From what u posted, I deduce u are female. Fill the form as is. That is d proper form.

Intact as I walked out a tear dropped my tired eyes... Tired from all the sleepless night of reading nairaland. Mind you Alot of pple did lot get visa from this same woman, but she gave the guy before me. She's was mild and utmostly friendly. The other 4 guys and one black American where just having a denial party today.....

At the end.. NA God sure pass. Just to add... I had no travel experience I only have an SA visa unused from 5years ago.

1) Invites don't matter. They are not required in the U.S. and the VOs won't even look at them.
2) Being single doesn't restrict you from getting a visa. Plenty of single people are issued visas every day.

I would say, based on the fact that your circumstances have changed so substantially and you have significant foreign travel, that you are 'safe' to apply in Lagos. But realistically, all VOs in the world are trained to the same standard in the same school, so while it might seem like it is easier to get approved in Abuja it is really all the same.

Indeed it seems your circumstance has changed so u should reapply.
Single people get visas.
Changing location is not an issue. U can't have the same dreams u had 4 years ago now. U actually don't need an invite per se. U could stay in a hotel. So that too isn't a Problem.
Just be honest with your answers.
I remember I was asked the location I wanted to visit the year I was denied and I couldn't for the life of me remember. And I said the truth- I can't remember.

Just joined--scanned through some pages but cant finish all*whew* so much!...want to re-apply after being denied about 4years ago (my circumstances i think have changed--got a better paying job of about 400k,travelled to uk,SA,dubai,ghana,turkey,ethiopia- was only ghana when i applied then), but am single (does it matter? so am not seen as eloping to cling onto an american. i stated then i was seeing a friend in newyork but now got anoda invite from another friend in maryland- hope there wont be question of why the change in locations? or i should get invite from my two friends? also is it safe to re-apply in lagos again or change to abuja as i was told abuja peeps hardly get denied.
