Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MPAN) Cross River State, has marked 2021 World Photography Day with Collaboration with Canon in Calabar.

“Sustaining the Earth Treasure Through Our Lens” as this year’s theme, flagged off at the millennium park with road walk down to Calabar Municipal Garden as photographers in their numbers display their photographic prowess on the road.

Flagging off the event, the Commissioner for Sport and Cinematography, Chief Offu Aya said he is happy to celebrate with photographers today being 19 August 2021 Celebrating ourselves as photographer's and remembering those who have toiled all through their lives to give us what we are using now as a source of livelihood,

That so many families are depending on Camera, Photography and though, we have that urgent and yearning need to remember how the whole thing started.

It is a challenge to MPAN - CRS next year to come up with a drama or movie show on how it all started.

He further stated that the ministry of Youth, Sport and Cinematography is open to all youths of Cross River State and that the is no reason to complain.

Lauding his Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade in the creation of a Ministry of Cinematography, the Commissioner maintained that this is the essence to which the ministry was created for activities to be created for the youths.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Development in the State, Mr. Eric Anderson said he is happy to celebrate with photographers which is another edition of the event and being able to identity with what they do and also encourage them to take advantage of the opportunity in Calabar, while taking pictures and posting it out there.

Taking Pictures is Tourism, Educational Tourism, Religious Tourism and more, while congratulating the Executives of MPAN - CRS for a job weldone.

August 19 is observed as World Photography Day, which aims to inspire photographers across the planet to share a single photo with a simple purpose: to share their world with the world.

At last, the long wait is over as Comrade Ben Ukpepi, Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Cross River State chapter regains his freedom.

Ukpepi has been in captivity for 82 days (2 months, 22 days) after he was kidnapped on Sunday night, March 21, 2021, in front of his house at the CROSPIL Estate in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, few metres away from Calabar, the state capital.

However, a reliable source said that he has been released.

Recall that the Nigeria Police, Cross River State command had earlier released a statement indicting the State Chapter of the NLC for staging the kidnapping of its Chairman.

But on March 29, the kidnappers demanded 150 million naira before he will be released.
