Organised labour in Cross River state have suspended its five-week long industrial action.

The labour leaders said the suspension follows the intervention of the traditional institution in the state, led by the chairman of the Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Etinyin Etim Okon Edet.

The leaders said the government will be given five months to fully Implement the agreements reached with them.

Godwin Otei, the state chairman of the Joint Negotiations Council, in his response said “we are suspending the strike to see if the government will do the needful”.

On his part, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ben Ukpepi, said the strike action is the longest in the history of the state and this shows the insensitivity of the government.

He thanked the traditional institution for its intervention.

On his part, Monday Ogbodum, the state chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, said labour will watch and see if the government will live up to the expectations of both parties as contained in the Memorandum of Understanding.

Video: Youth Corps Member, Ezeiruaku Ifenyinwa, Explains what caused her Altercation with Lt. Chika Anele.

The said event happened on 28 July 2021 in Eburutu Barracks Calabar.

That the issue happened when they corp members went for drilling competition at the Eburutu Barracks, organize by the commander of the brigade and i was one of the ushers for the event.

On the said date i got to the venue early and while i was there, i saw one of my Captain friend who arrived quite early to the venue and on seeing him, i tap him and then we exchange pleasantry, only for Lt. Chika Anele to shout on me that i shouldn't touch an officer on uniform. After scolding me, I went back to my position and I was standing there, another officer came and he was offering me an handshake, I told him that they said we should not shake an officer on uniform, so wen the started sharing small chops, and Lt. Chika was in charge of the small chops.

I went further to share the small chops to the invited guests and some officers, so one major now called my attention and said that he mistakenly pour his small chops on the ground that I should change it for him, I told him that it was finished and that the ones he's seeing there are for the umpire but he insisted, and me not knowing what to do, I now went back to Lt. Chika and explained to her what the Major request was about, she started insulting me that I was senseless, that was I not there when she told me that the reserve ones are for the umpire??

Before that, she had given me one to keep that when ever we were hungry we could eat, she now ordered me to go and bring that one and change it since I don't have sense, and go and give it to the Major, I quickly went and changed it for him.

After the event ended, she called me and started insulting me again that she doesn't know why I'm behaving like I don't have sense and that, is it that I'm senseless So angrily I went to the other side of the barracks where I met an officer who saw my countenance and requested to know why my face was that way.

So I explained to him that the way some officers are talking to the corpers I don't like it, and he insisted on knowing who provoked me, I now told him that Lt. Chika insulted me, that I don't like the way she spoke to me, He now said to me that he was sorry and apologize on her behave. So we left.

On the 28th day of July, Lt. Chika called for a meeting that we should all assembly at the basketball court, which all of us did.

She now brought me out and told corp members that I was the reason why she called this meeting, that me I went to tell a senior office that if not for Nigerian Army uniform if I see her outside will she talk to me??

She now started comparing and she asked me Which school I graduated from, my CGP and the Course I graduated from, I told her, she now asked my fellow corpers "is there any comparison between a graduate of Unilag and Madonna University?? Nobody answered her.. She now asked me to go and put on my NYSC Uniform, we call it 6 over 7. She said I should go and put it on.

When I got to my room I found out that my menstruation just started, so I had to washup before dressing up, I now went to washup, when she waited for me she now called one of the corpers to come and check on me,

So the girl came and I told her that I was coming that I was washing up, the girl went and told her that me I'm bathing, angrily she came to my room were I was dressing up and she was like, " I told you to go and change and you where using it to bath, she order the corpers to fetch water for her, when the got the water she asked them to get sand..........

Medical experts are baffled by a teenage Indian girl who cries small pieces of rocks from one of her eyes.

The 15-year-old girl from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, northern India, is the centre of a bizarre medical mystery, with doctors claiming that her affliction is not medically possible.

Her family members claim that between 10-15 stones have come out of her left eye when she cries.


In a clip, which was filmed in the village of Gadiya Balidaspur, a lump can be seen in the upper left-hand side of the teen’s eyelid.

A person off-camera appears to massage it down until what appears to be a stone drops out of her eye and falls onto the girl’s top. Later, another rock-like item drops from her eyelid, this time coming from the upper right-hand side.

The family have consulted doctors, all of whom insist it is not medically possible.

Former Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke has denied being a member of a new political movement, Rescue Nigeria Project as reported by a section of the media on Tuesday.

It was reported that prominent Nigerians have formed the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) to give Nigerians alternative platform to the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to the report, founders of RNP include former governor of Kwara state, Ahmed Abdulfatai, Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, former Governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke,

Others are Senator Lee Maeba, Usman Bugaje, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Yomi Awoniyi, Dr. Rose Idi Danladi, Dr. Sadiq Gombe.

However, Mr. Duke in an exclusive interview with Solacebase on Tuesday night described the story as a fake news.

‘’I have never attended any meeting with relation to this party nor informed about it by anybody, ‘’Donald Duke said.

The former presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2019 general elections urged friends and associates to treat the news as fake news in its entirety.

Speaking further with Solacebase in a telephone interview, Mr. Duke said ‘’While I do not contest the intentions of the conveners of the Rescue Nigeria Project, I wish to state categorically, I am not a part of its formation and hereby reconfirm I’m a bona fide member of the People’s Democratic Party and a member of its Board of Trustees.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed condolences to Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, the former Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment following the death of her son, Aliyu Abubakar.

In a message to the father of the deceased, Alhaji Kabiru Mukhtar and the former Minister, which was delivered by his personal aides, President Buhari described the death of the young Aliyu as extremely sad.

The President prayed for quick recovery for two brothers and sister of the deceased, who are currently on admission in hospital following a road accident that claimed the life of the deceased.

He urged doctors, nurses and other health workers to do their best for other victims of the accident under their care.

President Buhari also prayed to Allah to repose the soul of the deceased and grant fortitude to the family and the friends of the deceased to bear the loss.

Aides who delivered the message from the President are Ya’u Darazo, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Special Duties, Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media and Publicity and Ambassador Lawal Kazaure, State Chief of Protocol.

The Minister thanked the President for sending the delegation and expressed appreciation of the family for his demonstration of love and care for them.
