The little challenge our people have is advancement in technology, how can we compare windows 1998 to windows 2016 or later?
The producers of these compressors have been constantly on research and advancing their techs to suit the present techs in almost all modern cars. Another challenge is having access to original parts and following the manufacturers instructions or guide on how to use or maintain their products.
Many of us believe that FDC is better than VDC to me is totally wrong.
Most of the FDc do have failure in their clutch plate or the magnet which can be, replaced just that it can easily swapped from another working compressor but that is a part failure.
The same thing is also applicable to VDC, the only Major failure to VDC is the solenoid control valve, this part can fail due to some certain things which I will list some here.
This is my experience though,
When your car have had an over heat issue, remember the compressor is attached to the engine, the heat can cause a premature failure to the coil inside solenoid valve, and the valve is the main thing that controls or causes the pressure from the compressor when engaged.
Due to the heat the valve might get stocked and stop moving, in this the VDc has failed. ( It will happen over time)
Another is adding refrigerant (gas) to the system by road side technicians with fake refrigerants that full Nigerian market and without gauge.
When this is done, they might add too much to it, making the compressor to start getting hot when working, which will finally damage the solenoid valve.
Adding fake refrigerant to the system you should know the result.
Fake oil, most VDC uses ND-8 oil or PAG oil not mineral oil that full or market. Check the specification. This fake oil cause serious damage to the system.
This is the reason even after replacing another VDc yet it won't last and get damaged sooner.
The problem is not the VDc compressor but rather the refrigerant or the oil we use here in Nigeria.
If VDC are prone to easily failure I don't think that car manufacturers will be installing it in their newly built or modern cars.

When replacing a VDC, try get original pure refrigerant and the specified oil with the right quantity, you will enjoy a good chiling again.

My little point, if your VDC failed and you knows that you have not added oil or refrigerant to it here in Nigeria, that means your system will still be very neat, just look for the solenoid valve that fits the original one and replace it, refill with original gas with oil, if necessary and continue to enjoy a factory fit chilling in your car.

Another thing is that Belgium freezers takes longer time to cool or form ice inside, some of them you must plug them with stabilizer because of excessive consumption of electrical energy why?
