Romance / Re: Helping A Man Vs Helping A Woman by Seun(m): 10:25pm On Jan 24
I'm happy that women are engaging with this thread, even if it is to express their displeasure. That's what this section needs. At least they know that whatever they have to say will not be dismissed or attacked unfairly on this thread, because someone who is fair-minded is watching it.

I have observed a difference between the way that young women and young men respond to gifts. I'm not sure that it applies to older people. My female friends often tell me what other men are doing for them as if they expect me to join an expensive competition for their attention. It seems clear that the way young men chase young women makes them feel entitled to receive gifts. Making it difficult to appreciate every gift.

It's just an observation that I made from my life, and I wanted to see if other people have had the same experiences or if I'm completely wrong.

Romance / Re: Red Pill Ideology Ruined My Relationship With A Nairalander by Seun(m): 2:09pm On Jan 21
You have decided to disrespect your man by looking to other men for attention while you're living with him, because you feel he is not meeting your needs. In your mind, the relationship is over, but you won't admit it to yourself.

The red pill exposed men don't respond well to emotional control. They prefer blunt and honest communication. Stop playing "boju boju" with him. Tell him what you need, and why, and stop trying to play games of witholding physical and emotional affection to punish/control him.

The things you're doing sound as if you're done with him but you still want to enjoy the benefits. It's not healthy and cannot last. If you like him, forsake the other men, and start communicating and negotiating your needs more bluntly with him so he can provide them.

If witholding sex doesn't work, stop doing it. If the silent treatment doesn't work, stop doing it. You can't be doing the same thing and expect different results. Some men don't like to play games. Say how you feel when he does certain things. Be direct and honest. Repeat yourself if necessary.

Socially, focus on him, female friends, and the people you're related to by blood. Stop the emotional cheating with other men. If you want to leave him, leave him. If you don't want to, then you need to start behaving like a grown woman.

RightChanneI:
Psalm 14:1

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
This verse isn't saying that atheists are fools. It is actually accusing "fools" (evildoers) of being closeted atheists. It's actually saying that bad people do the things they do because they secretly don't believe in God.

So, the view is that all "fools" are atheists, which doesn't mean that all atheists are "fools". I hope you find the distinction to be significant.

Justdare:
1. There are currently protesters in Israel, calling for the resignation of Netanyahu, and all in charge of security. This will not happen because it was all a part of an agenda. And the Palestinians played right into it.
It will happen because right now they are suppressing investigations into the failures that led to the October 7 attack. When more information comes out about the extent to which the govt failed at all levels during official investigations, Netanyahu will have to go. Netanyahu's no Gree for Palestinians philosophy has been helped by the Hamas attack, but his viability as a politician is gone. His Likud party has sunk in the polls. Even the West wants him gone.

2. It is almost impossible to achieve this. Israel has the 4th largest military in the world and Hamas did not need any sophisticated equipment to infiltrate. They came in paragliders. It was as simple as standing on any tall building in Palestine and jump into Israel.
They had machine guns on the fence which could have shot down the paragliders, but the machine guns and the telecoms infrastructure used to deploy them were vulnerable to simple drones that dropped grenades on them. They knew that the Palestinians were planning to use drones to disable their defences for a whole year and failed or chose not to adequately fortify them.

1. Why did the iron dome fail
Hamas started the attack by shooting thousands of rockets simultaneously to overwhelm the iron dome. The US had to replenish their supply soon afterwards. The Iron dome's weakness is its cost. Interceptors cost way more than Hamas rockets, and are more limited in supply.

2. Why wasn't there any response from the IDF in about 4 hours of murder and torture
Their telecommunications infrastructure was destroyed by drones in the beginning. They didn't have a full picture of what was going on. The soldiers that responded went in blind from town to town, and fought the invaders as they encountered them. There was a sea attack too,

3. Why wasn't any resistance at the party, 'cause every adult Israeli is a trained soldier (male and female)
They did not bring their guns to the party. Many Israeli soldiers lost their lives due to lack of weapons. The female spotters were massacred.

It is true that Netanyahu is capable of intentionally manipulating the military to divert resources away from the leftist south in order to have an excuse to pound Gaza. If he did, then he needs to be sacked for deliberately putting his country's women and children through hell.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Thoughts On Israel, Palestine, & Gaza by Seun(m): 9:34pm On Jan 08
What happened to Israel on October 7 was a war crime; it wasn't terrorism. Israel says that they gave Gaza to Palestinians as a state. Hamas is the government of that state. Israel seems to be their enemy. So their attack was an act of war and the atrocities were war crimes.

In all you wrote, you did not mention what a "fair response" from the IDF would have been for the criminality carried out on their land. lets have this debate
1. Sack all the failures who allowed the attack to happen despite having the plan and receiving warnings from Egypt and female spotters.

2. Close all the loopholes that Hamas exploited to get into Israel. Secure the borders of your country from your hostile neighbour.

3. In going after Hamas, make a clear distinction between Hamas fighters and civilians. Don't destroy homes just to make civilians feel bad. Don't cut off food, water and medication. Don't call them human animals or Amalekites. Don't kill entire families. Try to be surgical.

They saw Hamas fighters training to attack them in the open, and did nothing. Now they are killing innocent civilians. It should have been the other way round.

4. Go after the fighters and the people they report to when you have the opportunity to do so with minimal collateral damage, Take your time and do it right. The problem is not what they say that they are doing (going after Hamas) but how they are doing it (indiscriminate bombing and shooting everything that moves) and why they are doing it (rage & revenge).

Even Nairaland Seun is admitting oo!

Some of us are trying to raise godly children here...

My eight-old son has developed an apetite for the news, largely fostered by the recent elections. He has said on more than one occasion that he even wants to go online to read from Nairaland (something that he has glimpsed me do on several occasions) but the thought of him doing so now or any time soon, scares the living daylights out of me!! So many of the stories (including several that make it to the front page) have explicit titles; alluding to people's amoral shennigans...Nairaland, as it presently is, is NOT FAMILY-FRIENDLY!!!
I hear you, and we will do something about that, but children can handle practically anything as long as their parents are around to explain it to them. Parental chats serve as a form of mental immunization so that when they come across ungodly things outside, they will be prepared.

Romance / Romance Section Moderators Wanted by Seun(m): 12:32pm On Jan 08
Ladies and gentlemen, the Romance section has gone to the dogs because of the inactivity of the current moderators.

We need 2 new moderators who are passionate about Romance and Nairaland, and can dedicate sufficient time to remove inappropriate content, ban people who break the rules, and create threads on hot topics to ensure that the Romance section attracts more engagement.

Most importantly, the war between men and women on this section must end. Women need to feel safe to participate and share their views in this section without being harassed by men. And vice versa. This requires consistent and unyielding enforcement of the rules every day.

If you know someone who is fit for this role, please nominate them. Someone who has been consistently active in this section for a long time, and who has not been a habitual rule-breaker during this time. If you're nominated, please indicate your acceptance and let's talk.

PS: Sorry, you can't nominate yourself. Someone must nominate you and then you can accept the nomination if you're interested. wink
