I know the winner and the first runner up. These two entries were picked primarily due to sweetness of gameplay. They keep things moving. There are also other entries I want to commend for the beauty of their boards, the quality of their animation, et cetera. |
TechToyin:Desktop |
It should be uniquely better. There's one guy whose piece moving animation was so extra eh. Unique in a way that makes the game sweeter. |
What about the contests? |
I noticed I was unfairly preferring entries that supported retina displays just because they looked sharper. Some agents automatically included devicePixelRatio handling, making their Entries look premium while others looked blurry. In order to judge entries more fairly, we have added this line to all blurry boards renderer.setPixelRatio(Math.min(window.devicePixelRatio, 2));It is an unusual thing to do in a contest, but it was the best option. Now we can focus on gameplay sweetness. |
TyrellObi:Hello, it appears as if your entry was missed. I'm adding it to the collection. Your Christmas tree touch is very cute. Issues to look into: The board isn't complete :- not enough rows and columns. The piece selection vibration feels off. So it's a stage0 entry alas.

doffman:Create and link to a new thread? |
You will be able to prove yourself in the next challenge. Fear not. |
showtechedge:I've determined that Entry 37 should also have been rejected. I understand how you feel about having focused on the gameplay only to get kicked out for the board design. Sorry for this mixup. |
CodeTemplarr:Yes. The cron task that updates last seen was stuck. |
Dear Talented Techies, We have completed the initial assessment (Stage 0) of the submissions for the 3D Ludo Game Challenge. Our primary criteria for this stage were compliance with the "single HTML file" rule, basic functionality, and whether the board correctly represented a Ludo board. We received a total of 68 entries. Unfortunately, many excellent attempts had to be dropped due to not meeting the core requirements or suffering from critical visual glitches. If your entry was rejected, please check the decision log for specific reasons—most common issues were incorrect board layouts or non-compliance with the single-file constraint. To those who passed: Congratulations! You are moving on to the next stage of assessment where we will look closer at gameplay, code quality, and "sweetness." Below is the status of all processed entries: Passed (23 Entries): 07 (BenedictAbajue), 10 (TechToyin), 18 (BelloP), 19 (WizEndy1), 25 (3pleo), 34 (abrdgrt), 35 (JasonEmeri), 36 (Bukswag), 37 (Galay), 39 (Horladoyinog), 45 (Ttoby), 46 (Faweezee), 47 (MatrixReloaded), 50 (Nipeks), 51 (KoladeChris24), 53 (donproject2), 55 (elninosft), 57 (Vikkkilee), 61 (Uromgoodluck), 62 (Conestone), 64 (Stephen0mozzy), 68 (johnnieDom), 69 (Horlad) Rejected (45 Entries): 01 (LegendHero), 02 (AirBere), 03 (showtechedge), 04 (Deasegun19), 05 (InifinteXR), 06 (donsheddy1), 08 (babtaima), 09 (medropoly), 11 (Demurkelly), 12 (Dtalent), 13 (mygee2), 14 (youngyusuff6), 15 (Ndemony), 16 (hobyner), 17 (Bambillo), 20 (Nazgul.Red), 21 (thinkalpha), 22 (faaiz4ever), 23 (Peter), 24 (awakeupcall4all), 26 (walterjnr), 27 (adonainana), 28 (mobileincome), 29 (davidaluu), 30 (MoscoTechh), 31 (NormadTechie), 32 (faboye2), 38 (Moonlight111), 40 (Englishisamust), 41 (Prod1), 42 (Kalatium), 43 (parserqq), 44 (doffman), 48 (akin4true), 49 (emmancipated), 52 (cyberjacker), 54 (AbundantGrains), 56 (jojothegreat), 58 (alikaiwe), 59 (SoludoOpute55), 60 (Bishoppaul205), 63 (valenu), 65 (Jaxman01), 66 (gwashLuck), 67 (darexcoolN) Thank you all for participating and showcasing your coding talents! Henrify117:Actually, YES! |
You can see the all the submitted entries here: https://www.github.com/nairaland/ludocontest |
I want to thank everyone who participated in this contest and followed the rules. We are going through them right now, in order to judge them. |
I'm so excited. Can't wait to discover your talents. |
Let's get back to the topic. |
Kevinsamba:We will highlight all the disciplines involved in software development. We are especially interested in full stack vibe engineers. All rounders. |
mygee2:Your html file is not running as a standalone file. |
Poison may be more reliable than traps. Traps won't catch all of them. I'd suggest fencing the farm and dropping bait inside the perimeter. |
thugthang:- bookmark AI Studio https://ai.dev - Download Google Antigravity: https://antigravity.google/download - Ask them to teach you about git and the basics of vibe coding. - Ask them to build something for you. - Anything you don't understand, just ask them to explain. - You can ask them to suggest reading materials. - Vibe coding is the gateway to vibe engineering. |
Nazgul:You don't have to be good in graphics to vibe engineer good graphics. Just tell the AI how you want it to be in a logical way and try try try again. |
No sale since 2021?? |
Stephen0mozzy:1) I currently believe that you can achieve good structure within a single html file. 2) The AI models are very good at generating self-contained html+js+css apps. 3) The portability of this structure will makes testing and judging easier for us. 4) We may amend the rules for the next challenge, depending on how it goes. |
Watcharena:I'm still calibrating. I figured that this is a very easy task to vibe-code. |
geezville86:No, but it's inspired by HNGi which is very similar to 3MTT. Raypawer:I love your enthusiasm but you must not drop the repo here until the deadline expires. You develop and push to your private github repo before the deadline, then you make it public and share after the deadline, so that other contestants won't steal your code. |
UPDATE Seun: Hello, In the interest of shining a spotlight on the coding talents on Nairaland, we are conducting a series of challenges. The first one is a 3D Ludo Game challenge. This requires you to use AI to help you create an enjoyable Ludo game in a single html file using three.js via CDN to display the game in 3D. The Ludo rules are up to you to decide but must be made clear to the users. Steps: Develop the game as specified (single html file) using git for source control. Push the source code to a private github repo before the deadline. After the deadline, make the github repo public and post it on this thread for assessment. If you touch or make any change to the repo after the deadline, you'll be disqualified. Tips: Use a powerful AI Like Gemini 3 Pro (free on Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity) for planning. You will be graded based on everything that makes your game superior to other entries. Such as the unique features (very important), code quality, UI, and the sweetness of the game. The prize for the best entry is N250,000. The runner-up gets: N125,000. The deadline is 10:00am Nigerian time on Thursday, the 18th of December, 2025. Good luck! Seun (Founder, Nairaland) |
