Topic: soil fertility calculations

Suppose Mr. Lagbaja has Crasssocephalum crepidoides plantation of 1/2 ha. The field is laid lout at 3m x 4m per plot. Five spoons of the vegetable seeds were planted per plot. Each plot was divided into six rows. If 10g of soil sample from the field was extracted with 100ml ammonium acetate. 5ml of the filtrate was made up to 50ml
Potassium concentration of the final solution was 0.02 ppm. If NPK 15-15-15 fertilizer was applied to supply 40kgN/ha. Calculate the;
1) dilution factor
2) Concentration of K in the soil
3) express result in
a) meq / 100g soil
b) Cmol / kg soil
C) kg / ha
d) mg / kg
e) mg / litre
f) tonnes / ha
4) calculate the amount of NPK required per plot.
5) calculate K

Answer
The K content of the 10g soil was diluted when it was extracted with 100ml ammonium acetate. It was diluted 10 times ( 100 /10). the K content in the 5 ml taken from this diluted solution was rediluted again 10 times when it was made up to 50ml ( 50 / 5 ).. Therefore, the initial K content of the soil has now been diluted 100 times ( 10 x 10 )
Total dilution factor = (100 / 10 ) x ( 50 / 5 )
2) potassium concentration in the soil = potassium concentration of the final solution x the number of times the soil K has been diluted
K conc in soil = k conc in final solution x dilution factor
K conc in soil = 0.02 ppm x 100 = 2ppm
3) meq / 100g
First: make the per million in the ppm to per 100g

If you are not knowledge able enough, are too lazy to also research online even if you aren't an agricultural person. I don't have time teaching you or lecturing you. If you really want to prove me wrong then you know what to do.

So when you visit Mr Biggs and they have white florescent bulbs with electric zapper that kill insects drawn to the light what do you call that?

I have tons of instances I can give you.

Goodluck been ignorant

It seems you're too harsh with your reply, take it easy and be polite the more replying others.

I saw this info just posted on AU official website;
http://www.au.int/en/pressreleases/31422/selection-candidates-7th-batch-training-african-union-youth-volunteer-corps-au

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 21 September 2016:

An AUC panel met to shortlist the candidates for the 7th Batch Training of the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps. The panel consisted of representatives of AUC departments and units. A total of 5600 applications were received from call for applications between the 2nd and 22nd of August 2016 and 100 candidates were selected from all 54 AU Members States representing the five regions of Africa; for the training which will take place in October 2016. To ensure transparency and accountability in the selection process, a panel comprised of representatives from AUC Departments and Units was instituted. The selection meeting took place from the 20 – 21st September at the AUC Headquarters.
His Excellency the Commissioner of HRST, Dr Martial De-Paul Ikounga met with the selection team to encourage them. In his brief address he called upon the members of the team to exercise a high level of transparency and integrity and wished them as they finalize the selection. Selected candidates will be notified in due course.

The African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) is African Union’s Initiatives for youth capacity building, empowerment and meaningful participation through volunteer work at a continental level and by virtue contribute towards an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa. The program is in line with the African Youth Charter and Assembly Decision by AU Heads of State and Government (Assembly/AU/Dec.274 (XVI) January 2010) “to launch and implement an African Union Youth Volunteer Corps”. AU-YVC was officially launched on the 3rd of December 2010 in Abuja, Nigeria.

AU-YVC recruits and works with young professionals age 18-35 from across the Continent and the Diaspora, to serve for a period of 12 months in their respective fields of expertise in an AU Member State other than their own. Priority areas of deployment of the AU-YVC include: Education; Entrepreneurship; Health; Institutional capacity building; Information and Communication Technology; Peace building and Post Conflict Reconstruction.
