Those faithful servants of old testament had their hope in God and this hope was accomplished in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. His blood redeems us from the curse of sins according to the riches of God's grace. Our hope is In Christ Jesus who is God our Savior. 1 Like |

Michael547:What is the meaning of being born again? It means put one trust and faith in the redemptive works of God which He accomplished in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Were the faithful servants of God like Adam,Abraham, David, Enoch etc born again? Yes, they were born again because they put their trust in the redemptive works of God. Since the fall of man, the basis of salvation has always been the death of Christ. No one, either prior to the cross or since the cross, would ever be saved without that one pivotal event in the history of the world. Christ’s death paid the penalty for past sins of Old Testament saints and future sins of New Testament saints The requirement for salvation has always been faith. The object of one’s faith for salvation has always been God. The psalmist wrote, “Blessed are all who take refuge in him” (Psalm 2:12). Genesis 15:6 tells us that Abraham believed God and that was enough for God to credit it to him for righteousness (see also Romans 4:3-. The Old Testament sacrificial system did not take away sin, as Hebrews 10:1-10 clearly teaches. It did, however, point to the day when the Son of God would shed His blood for the sinful human race. What has changed through the ages is the content of a believer’s faith. God’s requirement of what must be believed is based on the amount of revelation He has given mankind up to that time. This is called progressive revelation. Adam believed the promise God gave in Genesis 3:15 that the Seed of the woman would conquer Satan. Adam believed Him, demonstrated by the name he gave Eve (v. 20) and the Lord indicated His acceptance immediately by covering them with coats of skin (v. 21). At that point that is all Adam knew, but he believed it. Abraham believed God according to the promises and new revelation God gave him in Genesis 12 and 15. Prior to Moses, no Scripture was written, but mankind was responsible for what God had revealed. Throughout the Old Testament, believers came to salvation because they believed that God would someday take care of their sin problem. Today, we look back, believing that He has already taken care of our sins on the cross (John 3:16; Hebrews 9:28). What about believers in Christ’s day, prior to the cross and resurrection? What did they believe? Did they understand the full picture of Christ dying on a cross for their sins? Late in His ministry, “Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life” (Matthew 16:21-22). What was the reaction of His disciples to this message? “Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. ‘Never, Lord!’ he said. ‘This shall never happen to you!’” Peter and the other disciples did not know the full truth, yet they were saved because they believed that God would take care of their sin problem. They didn’t exactly know how He would accomplish that, any more than Adam, Abraham, Moses, or David knew how, but they believed God. Today, we have more revelation than the people living before the resurrection of Christ; we know the full picture. “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe” (Hebrews 1:1-2). Our salvation is still based on the death of Christ, our faith is still the requirement for salvation, and the object of our faith is still God. Today, for us, the content of our faith is that Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). |
Religion / Why Did Jesus Die? by seunowa(f): 3:33pm On Aug 14 |
Why did Jesus die? It’s a question that causes many to say, “Why ask that? We all know the answer already.” Most are quick to say “He died to forgive us”, which He did. However Jesus died not only to pay for the penalty of our sins, but to also save us from the power of sin. True salvation is not just being justified legally before God, but it’s to be born again and become a new creature by the power of God |

Michael547: Water baptism symbolizes the believer’s total trust in and total reliance on the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as a commitment to live obediently to Him. It also expresses unity with all the saints (Ephesians 2:19), that is, with every person in every nation on earth who is a member of the Body of Christ (Galatians 3:27–28). Water baptism conveys this and more, but it is not what saves us. Instead, we are saved by grace through faith, apart from works (Ephesians 2:8–9). We are baptized because our Lord commanded it: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19) Water baptism is a beautiful picture of what our Lord has done for us. As we are completely immersed in the water, we symbolize burial with our Lord; we are baptized into His death on the cross and are no longer slaves to self or sin (Romans 6:3–7). When we are raised out of the water, we are symbolically resurrected—raised to new life in Christ to be with Him forever, born into the family of our loving God (Romans 8:16). Water baptism also illustrates the spiritual cleansing we experience when we are saved; just as water cleanses the flesh, so the Holy Spirit cleanses our hearts when we trust Christ. The fact that water baptism is not a prerequisite for salvation is best seen in the example of a saved man who was not baptized in water—the criminal on the cross (Luke 23:39–43). This self-confessed sinner acknowledged Jesus as his Lord while dying on a cross next to Him. The thief asked for salvation and was forgiven of his sins. Although he never experienced water baptism, at that moment he was spiritually baptized into Christ’s death, and he then was raised to eternal life by the power of Christ’s word (Hebrews 1:3). Christians should be baptized out of obedience to and love for our Lord Jesus (John 14:15). Water baptism by immersion is the biblical method of baptism because of its symbolic representation of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. |

Michael547:Ephesians 5:25-26 as a basis: 'Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by washing with the water through the word'. The water here refers to being born again by the words of God. And how can one get that word of God?. My answer is Jesus Christ because is the living water and the spirit that humanity needs for redemption from sinful nature. Jesus Christ said the words that come from my mouth are life and spirit ( John 6:63). Therefore, anyone that is not born again by the spirit and life of Christ Jesus is a walking corpse. Humanity is totally depraved by sinful nature which in turn brought death on all people. Everyone is condemned to death but one can change this if one runs into Christ Jesus because he is the living water and the word that redeems all who are in him. Romans 8:1 says "There is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus who walk no longer according to the flesh but to the spirit". This means that they are now responsible to the work of the spirit that come from the words of Jesus Christ only. 1 Like |

Michael547: 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Ό,τι γεννιέται από τον άνθρωπο είναι ανθρώπινο, ενώ ό,τι γεννιέται από το Πνεύμα είναι πνευματικό. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit [17] gives birth to spirit. 1 Like |

Yes, the Bible teaches that we are all born sinners with sinful, selfish natures. Unless we are born again by the Spirit of God, we will never see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). Humanity is totally depraved; that is, all of us have a sinful nature that affects every part of us (Isaiah 53:6; Romans 7:14). The question is, where did that sinful nature come from? Were we born sinners, or did we simply choose to become sinners sometime after birth? We are born with a sinful nature, and we inherited it from Adam. “Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people” (Romans 5:12). Every one of us was affected by Adam’s sin; there are no exceptions. “One trespass resulted in condemnation for all people” (verse 18). We are all sinners, and we all share the same condemnation, because we are all children of Adam. Scripture indicates that even children have a sin nature, which argues for the fact that we are born sinners. “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child” (Proverbs 22:15). David says, “Surely I was sinful at birth, / sinful from the time my mother conceived me” (Psalm 51:5). “Even from birth the wicked go astray; / from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies” (Psalm 58:3). Before we were saved, “we were by nature deserving of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3). Note that we deserved God’s wrath not only because of our actions but because of our nature. That nature is what we inherited from Adam. We are born sinners, and for that reason we are unable to do good in order to please God in our natural state, or the flesh: “Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:. We were dead in our sins before Christ raised us to spiritual life (Ephesians 2:1). We lack any inherent spiritual good. No one has to teach a child to lie; rather, we must go to great lengths to impress upon children the value of telling the truth. Toddlers are naturally selfish, with their innate, although faulty, understanding that everything is “mine.” Sinful behavior comes naturally for the little ones because they are born sinners. Because we are born sinners, we must experience a second, spiritual birth. We are born once into Adam’s family and are sinners by nature. When we are born again, we are born into God’s family and are given the nature of Christ. We praise the Lord that “to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent . . . but born of God” (John 1:12–13). |

Politics / 700,000 Manufacturers And Msmes Apply For FG #150bn Loan by seunowa(f): 12:23pm On Aug 11 |
About 700,000 manufacturers and micro, small and medium enterprises have expressed intention to become beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s N150bn loan to help businesses in Nigeria navigate the current economic crunch. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Aniete, revealed this in a chat with our correspondent on Friday, stressing that the ministry was working tirelessly to ensure prompt release of the fund to eligible businesses. This came as Sunday PUNCH gathered that 630,797 citizens have benefitted from the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme In December 2023, the Federal Government unveiled the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme as part of the Presidential Palliatives Programme aimed at supporting businesses to navigate the economic crunch caused by government policies. The fund dedicates N75bn to MSMEs and another N75bn to the manufacturing sector. The minister, speaking through her Special Adviser, Strategic Communications, Terfa Gyado, hinted that the disbursement would be done in batches with the first set of disbursement to commence soon. “Disbursement is yet to start but they are finalising the first batch. To date about 700,000 applicants have applied,” the minister’s aide stated He noted that the government was well aware of the current business climate and created the fund to help Nigerian businesses navigate the harsh economic conditions. Two months ago, Aniete said the disbursement of N150bn loans to micro, small and medium enterprises and manufacturers would commence by the end of July. To be eligible for MSME loans up to N1m, applicants must have an existing business in operation for at least one year, or a registered start-up. They are to provide CAC business registration documents, present the company’s bank statement for existing businesses or the chief promoter’s bank statement for start-ups, fulfil the required monthly turnover and comply with other requirements as specified by the bank. On security, applicants must provide a personal guarantee of the promoter, agree to the BVN covenant, and adhere to global standing instruction and other securities as required by the bank. On repayment frequency, it entails a monthly equal instalments with no moratorium, spanning a three-year term. “For manufacturers, for loans up to N1bn, applicants must choose between working capital or asset financing, maintain at least a six-month business/corporate banking relationship, and provide additional documentation as required by the bank. “Asset financing comes with a five-year repayment period, and working capital financing includes a six-month moratorium on principal and interest, followed by a 12-month equal instalment repayment plan,” the minister had said in a statement.
