Politics / Kogi State Governorship Election: Time To Reciprocate, By James Gift Arome by seyeken(m): 12:54pm On Jul 08, 2019
One of the core attributes of democracy as it is practice in Nigeria and other countries that adopted the system is a periodic election. It is believed that democracy gives room for qualified citizen to exercise their franchise. In Nigeria, owing to the current democratic dispensation, the 1999 constitution as amended states that every elected officers has a period of 4 years in office after which such candidates can seek re-election but not more than two terms especially in the case of presidential and gubernatorial election. This re-election depends on so many factors especially the performance of such candidates. Although, every candidate would want to rear their heads righteous without considering the kind of perfection that defines them. They would want to blow their trumpet of falsehood and treacherously makes promise with both sides of their mouth, thereby making it difficult for the people to know where there are coming from because they come from nowhere. I bet you they are only coming to take some people for a ride and if people fail to understand their swindling method then salt would be rubbed on their wounds again. All they want is just to be the set-man, map-reading the resources of the state for their narcissistic reason. Well, that is politic, the game of who get what, when and how as define by Harold Lasswel. \

It is no longer news that the Kogi State gubernatorial election is around the corner and in no time, my good people of Kogi State will come out in their large numbers to elect the person that.... click https://www.realitycheckng.com/kogi-state-governorship-election-time-to-reciprocate-by-james-arome/ for full article

Politics / Restructuring Nigeria: A Game Of Futility, By Seye Ken by seyeken(m): 8:10am On Nov 04, 2017
The word restructuring in Nigeria of today has transcended its literal usage, and has become a cogent word which has been made synonymous to solution or hope for a workable Nigeria. Television, radio and social media platform have been set agog with this topic of discourse. Politicians and fortune seekers have suddenly become true nationalists and average Nigerians have been more awakened on issues of national consciousness than ever before.

Restructuring Nigeria is a movement which was suggested and brought into prominence in the 2014 National Conference which was conveyed by the then president, Goodluck Jonathan. Also the ruling APC drafted it in their party manifesto for the 2015 general election, perhaps to appease and hypnotize their political fans. However, irrespective of ........ Religion / Nigerians: Religious People With Dead Conscience, By Seye Ken by seyeken(m): 8:00am On Nov 04, 2017
I can’t get tired of writing about my beloved country, Nigeria because here is my natural habitat. After many years of existence, I guess I will be insensitive if I don't know concrete things about my society. Nobody needs to tell me that Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa are just few tribes out of many that exist in this country; also it will be funny if I don’t know there is a “National Cake” that few people were sharing. I guess you know I know people are being marginalized and also, there is overdose of corruption in the social space. To show my vast knowledge about my people, I wrote an article sometimes ago which I titled “A Nation Where Almost Everybody Is Angry”.

I won’t be exaggerating if I tell you that I can say more about Nigerians without ambiguity; peculiar people with great attitude. People who strongly believe in divinities irrespective of their gender, tribe and even religion. Nigeria is a place where people don’t joke with prayers but frown at curses. It is a wide abode where some people train sinless child to like his fellow children by faith they practice. An environment where people co-habit based on religions but not morals.

Nigeria may not have grown industrially but this shortcoming has failed to replicate itself when it comes to building and inventions of both religion houses and different types of religious doctrines. Christianity and Islam which happens to be most prominent faith in Nigeria have grown both in length and breath. I won’t be hypothesizing if I choose to say we have few countries that can compete favourably with Nigeria when it comes to religion activities and worship centers, we have the best of the best here coupled with devoted worshippers. As of today the number of churches and mosques...... full article https://www.realitycheckng.com/nigerians-religious-people-with-dead-conscience-by-seye-ken/

“How far guy, has our president traveled on medical vacation again?”

“You mean your Church president?”

“No”

“Then which of your president?”

“General Muhammad Buhari (rtd). The man I honestly voted for”

“But why do you ask such question?”

“Don’t get me wrong here, am not trying to play on your intelligence but rather I try to seek answer for things that have been bordering my inner man or do you think if I know I will consult you for a response, you know am not daft now.”

“Bros he’s fully around and active. So please why do you ask that your question?”

“Because he doesn’t look like he’s the one running the show, perhaps he’s busy in the other room.

Busy ke? When he knows his only duty, which is, to serve Nigerians with all his strength and also to provide good governance.”

“But it doesn’t look like he is doing this because from the way I perceive things, is like the man is playing hide and seek game with Nigerians. Religion / The Major Social Sin Of Every Church, By Seye Ken by seyeken(m): 4:56pm On Jun 08, 2017
For the past few years, religion has become a major catalyst or tool for driving people's thought, action and behavior. As a result of this powerful medium and it imperative nature, it manipulative power has no bound. The perception of people towards religion varies, many sees it as an ingredients for moral development while some perceive it as an easy means to perpetuate indoctrination and radicalization. Also, a way to promote fanaticism (extremism).

However, irrespective of how people feel or see religion, everybody is entitled to an opinion. For me not to bore you, let me hit the nail at the top because am not putting this up to juxtapose between religions but instead to lend my own opinion on what I tag “the major social sin of every church”

It being a while I have been Hot to let this out. As a Christian I became overwhelmed by the impunity we called doctrines that virtually every church now celebrate today. I cannot but purge out this fact.

Every believing Christian will say I belong to a church, I love my church, my church is my pride, my church is the best and so on. But I keep asking this question, is church a legacy? However, before you start seeing this as an atheist handwork, follow this piece to the very end.

Back to why I asked that question, I have evaluated the depth of division in the Christian faith, without mincing words it is urge. Authoritatively, this disparity was caused in the name of church faction. What do I mean by this? I was speaking with a lady recently and I ask her to give me the prerequisite her dream man must possess, amazing to me, CLICK THIS LINK FOR THE FULL ARTICLE https://www.realitycheckng.com/the-major-social-sin-of-every-church-by-seye-ken/

Politics / Mr President When Are You Coming Home? By Seye Ken by seyeken(m): 2:27pm On Feb 10, 2017
Since Mr president left for London on what he called a short vacation. Many opinions coupled with rumour has been manufactured especially when the president declared he was going on a medical adventure. Just as political speculation started to lose its validity and reliability about the president vacation, the president sent a letter to the national assembly that he will be extending his stay. With this I believe the political sleeping dog has just woken up from hibernating and I must confess I pity Mr femi adesina, the special adviser on media to the president on vacation. I guess this is the time for him to exhibit his spoken prowess to convince and calm the nerves of Nigerians who think the government of the day is taking them for a ride, I wish him good luck. Even though, some politicians and presidential cabinet members has continue to defend and even explain to Nigerians the motive behind president medical tourism but it seems people are not satisfied with their postulation because they want to hear their president speak.

Personally, I believe Nigerians should remember that Mr president is also a human being like them who can break down any time moreover 'body no be firewood' but even at this, I also have the notion that Mr president is far from the people who went through storm to give him their mandate. Music/Radio / Musical Entertainers: The Moral Avengers In Nigeria Society, By Seye Ken by seyeken(m): 9:58am On Jan 14, 2017
MUSICAL ENTERTAINERS: THE MORAL AVENGERS IN NIGERIA SOCIETY, BY SEYE KEN

“Did you heard what happen yesterday?”

“What?”

“A man beat up his son to the point of death because the boy called him a nickname.”

“What nickname?”

“Baddo.”

“What is the meaning of that?”

“I guess is one of the nonsense slang the young boy picked from some of these morally-deficient songs circulating in our society. Songs that have turn most of our today youths to civilized thug, a disposition that has halt the moral consciousness in them.”

“But the poor boy should not be blamed now because most of these uncultured songs have so much polluted the air that even a deaf can sing them word for word.”

“So who is to be blamed?”

“The Nigeria music entertainers.”

“How?”

“Nice question. The music industry in Nigeria is believed to be one of the fastest growing industry, but at the same time the moral decadence in Nigeria is also on the rise and this has been greatly linked to disabled moral content contained in our music.”

“In years past music was seen as fundamental and essential tool through which national unity can be fostered and also inculcate undiluted morals into the data base of the evolving youths. Music was also used to challenge, charge and remind the government of the responsibility they need to attend to.”

“I can vividly remember the interesting adventure I had in respect of the kind of music I grew up listening to. I can't forget my dad’s favorite; the commander himself, Ebenezer Obey. I was always fascinated with his rhythm and my dad wasn't scared of listening to this kind of music even in my presence because the content was full proverbs, parables and words of wisdom."

"As I grew up to understand and differentiate between sound and noise, I can't just erase those sweet melody I used to enjoy; the likes of funmi Adams, Evi Edna Ogholi, Funmi aragbaye, Christy Essien Igbokwe, just to mention a few. But evolution came and afro hip pop was born which was pioneered by the likes of remedies, plantation boiz and the rest. Inspite of this new “baby” then, music can still be enjoyed but suddenly moral values in music collapsed. Musical contents (lyrics and video) is now of porn standard.”

“Now, moral decadence has been the most celebrated syndrome in our society and our most cherished norms and values as being redefined as UNCIVILIZED VIRTUES.”

“How do you mean?”

“In the 1990s, our society have this conscious perception that human body should be seen as sacred and must be preserved, but most of our today’s musical videos have counter this conception. Flaunting of six packs is now seen as symbol for sexiness. Male entertainers nowadays have graduated from skin bleaching to lip bleaching.”

“There was a time in Nigerian music industry where content (music and video) was full good message, brilliant concept and creativity but this has long expired. What we have nowadays is display of gangsterism, sex and violence.”

“Thank God ladies are not part of this moral coup.”

“Laugh!!!”

“Why are u laughing?”

“Because these set of Homo sapiens are the main causative organism. Some ladies don’t smell ugly even when they are putting on pants in the name of video vixen. Wearing of pants and bra is no longer an odd thing in today’s music. The act of “go weird and become a celebrity” is one major thing driving our today’s entertainers.”

"The video Vixens are also called selling point. Most of the musical video these days is not complete without their input. Half naked in the name of music promotion and keeping up with international standard of video making is the vogue.”

“Who is setting them up with standard?”

“I believe it is the western indoctrination that has eaten deep into the moral fabrics of our system. Most our female musician, in the act to gain relevance, boobs, burst cleavage, naked laps and other subtle erotic parts of the body are puts on display in their musical videos.”

“As the system got rotten to that extent?”

”Sit down there. Even recently the veteran musician Ras Kimono aired his own opinion on this.”

”In his word “most of the crop of artist we have today are afraid to sing reality, they are all about bum bum and such unnecessary things. They all sing about foolishness and unnecessary things”

“Hmmm!”

“What?”

“I can now read meaning to what you are saying. The younger generation of today spend more time listening to music on television and phone than the time they spend on their studies. And there is no doubt that what they watch and hear will surely have a great deal on them because they tend to replicate the act.”

“You get am.”

“Some studies have even shown a connection between musical content and violent behaviour among adolescents, it was also proven that there is a relationship between the imagery displayed in video and condemnable sexual behaviour.”

“So who do we call to save us from this time bomb?”

“The hope to curb this menace lies in the hands of Nigeria Broadcasting Commission whose main objectives are; setting standards with regard to the contents and quality of material to be broadcast and also regulating ethical standards among all broadcasting stations in Nigeria. These are just few out of the many roles the commission is saddle with. But if these two main character can be upheld it will go a long way in helping our growing and grooving generation.”

"Finally, our so-called entertainers should please help this nation with their musical content, they should see music beyond sound, rhythm and melody. They should use their craft to preach unity and also teach morals so that we can build a healthy, decent, and vices-free society where we can raise our children. Nigeria must be saved from moral assassins and our land must not be turn to second Sodom and Gomoral.”

Religion / The Nollywood Scripted Prophecy, By Seye Ken by seyeken(m): 7:23am On Jan 05, 2017
The Nollywood Scripted Prophecy, By Seye Ken

The beginning of every year is a time filled with expectations, vows and new resolution. This period is always an opportunity for pastors to give divine directions to their followers. Also, it is a time general overseers do come up with themes, which is always designed for the year in view. Some pastors go further to share what they claimed to be 'God revealed prophecies' for the nation. This has in time past, generated 'mixed reaction' in people. This is because people see some of these prophecies as human calculation.

The anticipated 2017 is here and it won't be interesting without the fairytales statement called 'prophecy' by some men of God because this has been our culture in this religious society of ours where men of God dish out different prophecies to the populace in order to wet their appetite about the forthcoming event to unfold in the year. This year is not an exception, as many prophecies has been said by various pastors and it is on record again just like this concluded previous year. Going by what happened last year (2016). Some prophecies were also said, of which that year is over now and those things prophesied about that year has gone unfulfilled just like Nigeria budget.

As a Christian, I so much believe there exist men of God who are truly called by God, although some are convinced into the profession by their personal instincts or circumstances but unfortunately they all add the prefixes 'Pastor' to their names which makes it difficult to separate the yolk from the albumen. This piece is not targeted or directed at any pastor because as a good Christian i believe in the bible passage that says " Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm" (1 chronicles 16:22). In line with this, i subscribed to the fact that pastors must be respected as sacred species of God. However, pastors are meant to be the mouthpiece of God and heavenly clued words of God are revealed to them so that they can relate it to people who have not gotten the spiritual gift. Over the years, many things has gone wrong and people now look at prophecy especially for the country as mere prediction because the previous ones prophesied lacks internal validity and since it does not hold water it is mostly seen as nursery rhymes. Nigeria general election and the America election outcome has proved that we have some titled pastors clothed with deceit.

Further, I have tried to evaluate some prophecies that has been said about 2017 and I just can't stop laughing because they are just contradicting, annoying and un-divine. looking at the way some of these were being structured you will agreed with me it's another annual exercise. When you see words like 'some big politicians will die', 'the country's economy we move from recession to depression', 'three nollywood top stars will die' ,'boko haram will strike again' and so on, one will begin to wonder if this is coming from God or man. As a Christian who is familiar with the Christian manual (bible), we know that God is always specific when he reveals things to believers and if we are to juxtapose word of prophecy said by great men of God in the bible with what some clergy men called prophecy today you will not argue because the difference is clear. God does not speak hypothetically and he will never do. Like i said earlier am not criticizing any pastor here or sounding here like 'daddy freeze' but this is just a clarion call to awake people so that they don't continue to digest chunk feed into their system.

As we continue to live in a world where Christians have been indoctrinated and colonized by church doctrines and not by the principles and preset of the bible, it is imperative for pastors to be careful about what they serve out to their congregation thus it will surely have a great effect on their body, spirit and soul. Frankly speaking, I salute the gut of some pastors speaking base on assumption especially on the state of the nation but at the same time I blame their ignorance which is shrouded in sentiment and guess work.
To wrap up this piece, men of God who are guilty of this should retrace their steps and stop embarrassing themselves because God is not an author of confusion and none of his words will go unfulfilled. Please I beg "una" stop giving us nollywood scripted prophecy and chaff.

Basic Education: a sine qua non for national development by Seye ken

Education is a fundamental empowerment which any nation can give to her citizen. Education improves the standard of living of any society. The sober truth is that a nation can’t develop more than the quality of education obtained by the inhabitants. Education shapes people’s perception, ideology and moral values. Formal education is important to national development because it involves a systematical and methodological means of inculcating and transmitting learning cultures through a specialized tutor to learners. Formal education is a structured form of education that uses schools as a sanctuary of learning. These schools are expected to educate future leaders in all sphere of professions and also groom individual to attain high level of technical capacities needed for economic growth and development.

Undoubtedly, the present state of development in Nigeria is a true reflection of our educational system. As I proceed in this write-up, I won’t bore you but instead shed more light why Nigeria may not get to a level of prominence like China and other nations that have overtook Nigeria in circuit of relevance. Over the years, many referendum had taken place on formation of educational policy; the most recent being in 2013. The federal republic of Nigeria in this policy, adopted education as an instrument “par excellence” for effecting national development. This exercise, to me, has remain just a paper activity with little or no implementation.

Primary and secondary education are very core to the life of any evolving child that aspires to reach a complete cycle in his/her academic pursuit. Once the standard is shortchanged it doesn’t only give birth to a mediocre but also affect the richness in human capital of a society because such a child will not be useful to himself and will remain a burden to the society. The lack of qualitative and functional education in our country as resulted to brain drain. These days we have graduates seeking to work in the public sector because in this place everybody is accommodated. No wonder government continues spending larger part of its budget on re-current expenditure. Note that no country has ever develop with this culture.

Government at all level has privatized both primary and secondary education without saying it and there is a noticeable threat on tertiary education. When you have schools that look like ‘gari’ processing factories with few or no teachers, then it depicts a misplaced priority on the part of government. Public schools in Nigeria over the years have been wallowing in shambles because there is no more standard content in it. Even a man that earns less than 60 dollars a month prefer to take his children to a private school even if the school is being operated in a shop-like structure or one uncompleted building because of the notion that public school can’t meet up the high demand for qualitative education they yearn for; which is true. As a nation we can’t pretend anymore because the system has not only collapsed but even smell malodorous, no more active government agency regulating the system and what we have today is an anarchy educational system where anybody can just wake up and start up one mushroom school and name it “international school” with the perception of meeting parent quest for quality education.

Basic education should not be toyed with by the government because many developed nations in the world do not only put large capital into education at this level but they show high level of commitment towards it because they understand the future of their nation depends on it. For example Chinese attaches great importance to the universalization of compulsory basic education in rural, poor and minority areas and at present basic education is provided by the government. Nigeria situation is not peculiar to this because private ownership has been exploiting the lapses created by the government in education sector and the ministry of education that is saddled with the responsibility of supervising, coordinating, and regulating academics activities has failed totally. My proposition is not that Private ownership of basic school should be discouraged, but there should be close-up supervision on their mode of operation and instructional content they use in teaching.

However, all blames go to the government at all level because they are meant to set the pace (standard) for the private sector to follow. What do I mean by this? Many states as of today are owing teachers, many public schools are filled up with dilapidated structures called classrooms, no more instructional packages and above all insufficient man power. I pity this country because our population keep growing and people continue to get substandard education and we think we are heading towards the right direction. A nation that treat education like this will always finds itself in chaotic situations; insecurity and innovation drought.

Let’s juxtapose teachers’ remunerations in this part of the world with their other counterpart in other countries where our people run to for greener pastures, you agree with me that the difference is crystal clear. For example in Canada the minimum earnings for a teacher per annum is between 60000 to 80000 dollars. Also, as a public school employee in china which requires between 16 to 25 working hours per week, a teacher is entitled to between 942 to 2500 dollars per month. So tell me how a nation like ours can get to the level of technological prowess like china if we continue treating our teachers like garbage. Even the private schools that charge exorbitant tuition fees have also adopted government standard in paying teachers.

In remediating this, functional education must be brought back from exile and government must be sincere with basic education. Enough of cosmetic policies, this will take us nowhere. The world is dynamic and we can’t afford to be static if we truly seek for a good future. Education should be made attractive by upgrading our school facilities to what is obtainable in the western world. Also, well-trained teachers must be employed and this should not be done by quota system but by competence.

As Nigeria strives to be one of the 20 largest economies in the world by 2020 it is imperative to admit that our educational system is near collapse and to attain this feet come 2020 educational problems must be addressed without further delay.
