Seyitorl:
Thanks@closetextrovert.

My question is.for a principal applicant who has a b.sc degree in anothr field.but has certification and experience which falls under NOC 2263 Inspectors in public and environmental health and occupational health and safety. How can he defend such work experience in express entry since the certificate cannot be evaluated by wes.
2. If the spouse decides not to write ielts can her ond and hnd alone be used to get more points.
Thank you for your anticipated response.

Gooday house.please i have two questions i would like to ask.
1. Will my spouse ielts scores still be added to mine even if he doesnt meet the required scores or does it mean the exam is a waste?
2. Can i use wes alone to get few more points if my spouse doesnt write ielts.
3.can one add certification( health safety certificate.)to be evaluated by wes. (i.e courses taken for few weeks to get certificat)which is being used on the job by the principal applicant and has years of experience and in it under noc. Can one get points with such?

Hello Boss,

I have one question. When did you graduate? What have you been doing since you graduated? is it related to early childhood education?

To be sincere, there is a very wide gap between mass communication and the discipline you intend switching to.

But since the school gave you options (like you said above), the onus will be on you to convince the VO that you are indeed a genuine student. This will be easier if you have documentary evidence of having an experience in early childhood education(These guys here don't joke with this discipline especially since it involves and revolves around children). There has to be something you have done or are doing that is related to this.

Like you must have read, getting this TRV is becoming tough these days (although everyone's case is completely independent), so if you must go through that route you should be ready to explain why. We can only advice you since we are not privy to your recent or past activities with respect to your career.

However, if you can at least tell us what you have been up to that is related to early childhood education, then maybe, people here can at least offer some sort of guidance.

Is it difficult? YES... is it doable? Yes

Warm Regards

I am sorry for the long post

I have tried getting into a masters(m.ed) programme(early childhood education)but was told i cant because my major isnt education.i have a b.sc im mass communication. I have googled pgd ,But most are undergraduate diploma (both in colleges and univrersity)which will give me a transfer into a b.sc in early childhood education .While some are not for international students.The(1year) accelerated /fast will still give me a bsc.degree .the closest i could get is a post baccaleaurete (16months)which will give me a b.sc after completion and and a masters after that.(comfirmed from the university).i intend to go for the last option.(postbacc).but my question is: is it convincing enough to say i intend to get another bachelors since i havent any foundation/theorectical background in education? Secondly:can such defence work in the case of an undergraduate diploma.(i still prefer a college its cheaper and i found a 16month diploma program in a college that has two similar course i took in my undergraudte days studying mass communication).Thirdly : does my sponsor have to have all the tuition cost for diploma and masters in her acct as i intend explain further in my sop that i will be applying for my masters after the post bacc. in my mid 30's.

Wow! You are now somewhere on the Atlantic ocean. What a trip! You pop champagne, hi-fives went round, you even had a party!

Silly friends are jealous of you, funny admirers are gazing in awe, dumb proteges came with notepads and of course you have a lot to share after all you are 40,000 feet up on the Atlantic while some are still struggling to take off and others can't even fly.

But it's a trip from Lagos to New York! Celebrating over the Atlantic is as dumb as it gets. If you lose focus, or stop cruising, you will never arrive.

Know the difference between progress and accomplishment, it will keep you focused, it will keep you moving, above all, it will keep you humble.

People land at your dream destination everyday and just keep moving cos their destination is further and farther. Stay Humble, stay inspired, never settle.

Just thought to share this here!

Long post alert……
PGD is for folks like me who wish to further their education but have a low GPA and can’t get into a Master’s program immediately but can eventually do after the completion of the PGD or people that are changing career. If you have a Master’s program in mind, please go for a PGD related to it. It will help later. After completing my PGD, the schools I contacted for MBA all waive some courses so far you make 75% and above. This shortens the program duration for you and saves you some money.
I got my TRV in October 2014. Although I know that things have changed but am writing this for those going for PGD. I am an advocate of PGD especially if you want a career change or have a low GPA. I couldn’t get into an MBA program because of my GPA. I also had a constraint of time and didn’t want to waste time looking for schools that would take me. I was given an option of a PGD in business Administration (Global business management) which is in line with my proposed dream program; MBA with a specialization in management.

I can’t remember the timeline of my application.
Documents submitted.
All CIC forms
Sponsor (dad)-
Dads Bank statement, fixed deposit statement. Shares certificates, pension statement, Dads confirmation of employment and introduction letter from the 3 universities he lectures in (visiting retired professor), affidavit of support saying that he would bear all expenses for my program and my other siblings were no longer dependent on him.
My docs
Conditional admission letter from school (I had a C in math and the school needed me to write a math test upon arrival before enrolling into the program)
School fees receipt, (Paid full tuition of $27,000)
Passport page with valid and expired visas to UK, US, Germany, France, Netherland, India etc.
Letter of Introduction from employer saying that they were aware on my intended study (didn’t say anything on me having my position when I get back) and detailing my specific role and responsibilities in the company.
Letter of employment (I was working as a Business Development manager for 3 years as of the time I was applying)
6 months’ pay stub
Pictures of Business trips, meeting and trade show attended in Dubai and Paris
Transcript, WAEC and NECO
Project management training certificates (PMP)
Primavera training certificates
Proof of daycare enrollment for my 8 months old daughter (to show that she will be in school when I travel)
Well detailed Resume
1 page SOP saying why I was going for the program. I mentioned how it will progress my career but I didn’t mention anything on coming back to Nigeria tongue Funny enough I wrote on how my daughter would be visiting during my school holidays.

Home Tie

Submitted parents passport page and all my siblings birth certificates
Daughter’s Birth certificate,

A lot of fasting and prayers and novenas.

I have a BSc in Pure and Industrial chemistry. Since I graduated in 2006, I worked for an NGO for a year and then went into the business world. Working as a business development manager, I attended trainings, meetings, trade shows which were all business related. This and my job responsibilities were what I used while writing my SOP to try and convince the VO the reason for my career change. The VO that handled my application would have noticed that I had never done anything chemistry or science related based on my resume. It was easy to deduce that I was already in a business career field. I specifically wrote on my SOP that I had the practical knowledge of business and needed to get the theoretical knowledge of it; hence my interest in going for a PGD in business administration (global business management) since I couldn’t get into an MBA cos of a low GPA.

My advice to people going for a PGD is that you try to show some relation to your current job or your first degree if it’s still within a 2 year period. If its related to your first degree, then please let the VO know of the attempts you have made to get into a master’s program and couldn’t because of your low GPA. (If you have proof of emails, please attach it). The VOs know that Canadian universities are very competitive especially for folks with low GPA). If it’s related to your current job, please try and attach certificates, trainings, introduction letter from HR detailing your job responsibilities. Anything to show that your proposed study is related to your current job. You just can’t change career out of the blues. You must have tried something before developing interest in it.

Good luck to everyone waiting for his or her visa. It will end in praise.

Hi everyone. I am new here and i have been following the thread. Its beeb helpful. With the your help i would like to know if
I stand a chance with my course choice. I have a bsc.in masscomm from lasu parttime.(2008)i an 35(f) married with two kids.i chose to study early childhood education (ece)at lethbrige university.its a one year certificate programme. Contact learning/ online. From which i can get transfer to other uni for a 2year diploma in the same course. The only experience i have as a teacher is with my sundayschool class for three years. I chose lethbrige beacause my sister who is my sponsor only has funds enough to cover a one year programme which cost $11500.lethbridge has a 2year ece diploma but its strictly online.i have called to confirm if they admmit i ternational students and its a yes. Do i stand a chance? My 2nd concern is" is it possible for the vo to question my choice of learning e.g why did i decide to travel for it when i can do it online. " thirdly iis it compulsory to present nysc certificate cos i exempted and yet to get my exemption letter. Thanks.
