How do I become more productive? How do I make the most from less? How do I meet up with the deadline? How, how, how? The list of hows is endless. Truth is, no one wants to fail at what they do. But, how do you really make the most out of less, or what you usually get?

One sign that you are not getting any better at being productive is the fact that your to-do list gets lengthier by the week end; from a handful of designs to turn in, to copies that need finishing, to keeping consistent tab on your workout. Another sign is that you struggle to keep up with deadlines.

Being more productive than usual has a lot to do with things you don’t do than what you do; humans are ordinarily busy beings, there is such a great pull on our attention in our distracted word today, we always have an activity up our sleeve to embark in, irrespective of whether it’s essential or not.

As a writer, one dilemma you would have to face is one of confidence. The absence of confidence is something that causes major concern for writers. The question becomes, “can I grow my confidence in writing? If yes, how?”

First off, know you do not have all day or week to write, this means one thing, PLANNING. This is how not planning adversely affects your confidence; it disorganizes you, sets your routine in disarray, and this means consistent writer’s block for you. Writer’s block does not help your confidence in any sane way, it makes you question the authenticity of your work.

There will be some days you would doubt your writing, doubt if you are making progress as a better writer, note that this is okay. Being a confident writer does not mean that you would have a hundred per cent trust in your ability hundred per cent of the time; that would be unrealistic, but being a confident writer means that you acknowledge that uncertainty is an inevitable part of your odyssey and it wouldn’t get the better you.

Build Your Confidence Keeping these in check:

1. Ideas comes through the mind, even to-be plagiarized work(s) first runs its course through your mind; this means one thing, YOUR MIND HAS TO BE IN A RIGHT STATE. This might sound tacky, but it isn’t, the goal here is to alienate pressures like; “I have to sound like this person/style”, “I must stick to the word count limit”, deadline dilemma. Just do your research, soak it all in, and write. Incessant detours can snatch your muse and slow you down, thus diminishing your writing confidence.
