Now am confused,so you stay in uyo,that's cool,what can you say about the cost of living?what do you know about the maritime school over there becauise that's what pulling me to Akwa-ibom plus i will be so glad if you can change my orientation about the state.

Okay....what exactly is your orientation about the state bc I can do little or nothing to change it, you'll only have to come here and see things for yourself. Seeing they say, is believing. About the cost of living, I'd say it is relatively moderate, compared to other places....depending on where you were based b4. Goods and services are affordable, accommodation is not an issue, transportation is cheap.
The maritime academy, is located in Oron...also a major town not far from Uyo the capital city. Although I don't really know about the admission processes and requirements but I'm sure if you perform excellently in the entrance exam, you'll be admitted on merit.
My people are very warm and accommodating, just like 'there's a Judas among every twelve' you don't expect everyone to be saints...there are some bad eggs too. Oh...did I mention? We've got assorted delicacies and one of the best hands in the cooking game (you know what they say?)
With these few points of mine, i hope I've been able to convince, and not confuse you that Akwa Ibom indeed is the land of promise.

first and foremost, d allawee has been slashed and it is not being paid regularly.. U myt only get to receive 8 or 9 months allowance.
Cost of living in Uyo is very high.. High cost of food stuff.. High cost of accomodation.
Social life is very much okay.. There are cool spots to hang out..
90 percent of corpers re posted to schools.. the rest Ministries.
Another major reason that made me say the state is overhyped is because there is no firm here.. You only have the oil companies, and they are in Eket and corpers are not posted there..
The indigenes are kind of backward, they are relaxed and not ready to work.. Give one money today, tomorrow it is finished...
Mode of transport is keke, taxi or bus...

But don't let this discourage you, if u feel like coming, please do.. This is just to help you make an informed decision

Wairre minit!! Which Uyo are you talking about? Lol... Abi is it the same Uyo that I am living in? Cost of living is high? High cost of foodstuff? High cost of accommodation It's sounding very strange to me, bc Uyo is one of the moderate cities to live in. Maybe your expectations were way too high (were u expecting
heaven?), that's why you're obviously so disappointed. Most corpers that come here refuse to go back home after their service year...they stay back and get jobs here (I personally know of a lot).


About the slashing of allowee, biko be sure of what you're saying bc it's still very much a rumour...a friend of mine who's serving here said he still receives the 10K and regularly (they even pay state allowee earlier than the FG 19,800)
And did you say there are no firms here? You're obviously new to the State, so please make your research properly b4 giving out misleading info. Yes, most of the oil firms are in Eket bc Eket and the surrounding LGAs are the oil towns. But there are also some oil firms (majorly company headquarters) in Uyo.
Finally, you said the indigenes are backward and lazy? I don't know what your yardsticks for reaching this conclusion are, but trust me, my people are one of the most hardworking people and hospitable Nigerians you'll ever come across. Mbok, don't use stereotypes to judge a whole tribe and present them in a bad light. Thank you.
