In the light of the above background, it is advisable for exporters to avoid, where possible, from trade terms that would put more obligations on them such as the payment of import customs duties, taxes and other risks at the buyer's end. E.g DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). Similarly for importers, dealing in EXW (Ex Works) which would hold the buyer responsible for the export customs clearance, trucking, taxes and other associated costs at the seller's end is not advisable. These charges and expenses at the seller's/buyer's end may cost more than anticipated. |
