TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Sheron50: 12:26pm On Jun 07
Ebukaxn:
Hello guys, I’ve gotten offer to school in Canada for a postgraduate study ,and the total tuition for the full year is 19,813 cad.
I have a sponsor (my elder sister) , she’s a nurse in the US and ends roughly $176,000 annually .

She has paid my complete tuition fee for the first semester alone , what is left is the second semester. And her bank statements show times 3-4 of the actual amount needed for my tuition and living expenses .

She has a bank statement of $85,246 available balance (118,773 CAD thereabout ) after paying the first semester tuition .

Additionally , she has a savings account of $30,000(41,799CAD) that she’s going to submit along side the other bank statement I mentioned earlier .
This is just a short brief of my circumstances as it seems now .

So now ;
even if my application is sponsorship based, I am still supposed to show my personal bank statement to show my financial strength incase things goes sideways ways .

I have 3 accounts I believe would be hard to use because earn 70k monthly in the;
FIRST ACCOUNT and the opening balance from the past 6 months is 800,000 naira with a closing balance of 50 naira

SECOND ACCOUNT has an opening balance of 186 naira with a closing balance of 1,358,025 naira

THIRD ACCOUNT has an opening balance of 3,027.32 naira and a closing of 22,958.41 naira

I am supposed to submit this application this coming week . I have barely any time left .

So I am considering a deed of gift of 10million naira from my uncle.

My main question here is , would a deed of gift be feasible for this application given the urgency of time (deadline ) or give a recommendation to this please , experts in the house .
My little advice is that before spending a significant amount on studies, you should carefully assess the return on investment and also explore possible PR pathways you may already qualify for. Studying in Canada does not guarantee permanent residence. Immigration rules are changing, PR is becoming more competitive, and many international graduates are struggling to secure jobs and qualify for PR after graduation.

Make sure you are pursuing the program for its educational and career value, not with the expectation that a study permit will automatically lead to PR.

For example, my cousin abandoned the study route early last year and focused on learning French instead. After about 10 months of dedicated study, he passed the TEF and received a French-language Express Entry ITA this year. Everyone's situation is different, but it is worth exploring all available immigration options before committing to an expensive study program that may not ultimately lead to PR.

I agree that abuse of immigration programs has pushed authorities to place greater emphasis on compliance, fraud prevention, and risk assessment. No serious immigration system can ignore those concerns.

At the same time, I think it is helpful to distinguish between two separate issues:

The existence of abuse within a program.
The assessment of an individual application.

Every application is supposed to be decided on its own merits. A refusal should be based on evidence within the applicant's file, not on the actions of other applicants from the same country or region.

What many applicants are noticing in 2026 is that the threshold for proving credibility appears much higher than it was a few years ago. Strong finances, travel history, employment, or academic credentials may no longer be sufficient on their own. Officers are looking for a complete narrative that aligns across the application, supporting documents, financial records, and stated purpose of travel.

That is why two applicants with seemingly similar profiles can receive different outcomes. The difference is often found in factors that are not immediately visible from a summary profile: document consistency, source of funds, study progression logic, travel purpose, family ties, employment stability, or how convincingly the overall story addresses the officer's concerns.

For applicants, the practical takeaway is not to focus on what others did wrong. The better approach is to identify potential risk indicators in their own file and address them proactively before submission.
True, every application should be assessed on its own merits. However, when a program experiences significant abuse with high rate from.selected countries , officers naturally become more cautious, and the burden of proving credibility becomes higher for everyone.

Unfortunately, genuine applicants also feel the impact of that increased scrutiny. Living in Toronto, I personally met a Nigerian who arrived with a valid UK visa and still made an asylum claim. Cases like this are one of the reasons immigration authorities have become more cautious and risk-averse.
Public sentiment is also influenced by economic realities. Between January and April 2026, Canada lost over 110,000 jobs, unemployment rose to 6.9%, and more than 37,000 Canadians filed for insolvency in the first quarter alone, the highest level since 2009. With many Canadians struggling with affordability, housing costs, and pressure on public services, it is not surprising that immigration programs are facing greater scrutiny.
Every responsible nation will prioritize the welfare of its citizens and permanent residents first. Fairness to foreign applicants matters, but no government is going to place that above the economic well-being, jobs, housing, and public services of the people already living in the country.

I understand where you're coming from. The frustration is real, especially when applicants see people with seemingly strong profiles getting refused with very similar refusal letters.

That said, I don't think the situation is simply that IRCC is "running out of excuses." What appears to be happening is that Canada's immigration system has become much stricter in how it assesses risk, particularly for temporary resident applications such as visitor visas and study permits.

A lot of applicants still focus heavily on having enough money, admission letters, or employment documents, but today's assessment goes much deeper into consistency, source of funds, travel history, career progression, ties to home country, and overall application logic.

In fact, I recently wrote a detailed breakdown explaining why some "perfect" applications still get refused in 2026, how automated triage is changing application reviews, and what applicants can do to reduce avoidable risk factors.

You can read it here:

I'd be interested to hear from others as well. Have you noticed refusals increasing among applicants with otherwise strong profiles, or do you think most refusals still come down to weaknesses that applicants don't initially see in their own files?
The reality is that Canada has seen significant abuse of visitor visas, study permits, and asylum claims in recent years, including from countries such as Nigeria and India. With rising unemployment, housing shortages, and economic pressures, IRCC is applying much stricter scrutiny than before.

Today, it's not just about having money or documents. Officers must be convinced that an applicant will comply with the conditions of their visa and leave Canada when required. Unfortunately, genuine applicants are also being affected by the stricter environment created by those who abuse the system.

the write up I responded to , the one that actually made me contribute on this thread compared Carney to Tinubu and had all the talking point the conservatives spew on twitter and TikTok . You can go search for it, the move to US was for the person painting the US with no problem of its own. Well it’s in a blind trust now , he doesn’t know how it’s been managed anymore, one can’t have assets in a blind trust and still control it
Please,You too think about it ,PM Carney tells people to invest in Canada, yet his own funds are in a blind trust reportedly 91% invested in the U.S.A. Meanwhile, canada is giving $270 million to Ukraine this week , totaling $25.8 billion canada is giving to ukraine. How does that make sense?

Same in uk becos Keir Starmer proudly announcing the UK will join a £78 billion loan to Ukraine.
The UK’s national debt is currently about £2.91 trillion, standing at 93.8% of GDP as of the end of March 2026. Since July 2024, the debt has risen by roughly £180–200 billion in the first year alone, with the total increase since then likely in the £250–300 billion range.

So how do you justify giving out loans that may never be fully repaid while your own national debt keeps rising? Interesting priorities. We truly have some remarkable leaders around the world grin grin grin

lol, comparing Mark Carney to Tinubu is critical thinking? Tell me any country in the world that is not feeling the aftermath of COVID 19, the war, late stage capitalism and the US tariffs. There is affordability issues everywhere.
Of course policies are meant to be debated , no one is disputing that but the current government listens and has actually addressed all the pain points Canadians has pointed out. Reduced temporary residents, cut taxes , working on affordability issues, cutting GST for first time home buyers, improving trade deals and seeking investments all around the world. He is even planning to make Canada join the EU.

Now rubbishing all his efforts, comparing Canada to Nigeria and painting US as the best country in the world with no issues of its own is just been myopic and just regurgitating conservative propaganda.

We know Canada suffered few years of set back compared to other G7 countries, but the new prime minister is clearly fixing that and Canada has a strong future with him in place as compared to the US with trump, do you even know how much he has spent on this war and the expensive weapons that has been depleted that would take years to replace? In the same US parents can’t afford healthcare for their children?

That is critical thinking, taking into consideration all factors and current progress made , not balant rubbishing of the country. No come dey gaslight me because I come from Nigeria and saying bad governance is making me feel Canada is not the worst country in the world . You are the one been condescending and judgemental here.
Where exactly in the write-up did the writer compare carney to tinubu ? From what I can see, the writer was simply trying to correct your approach of telling people to move to the U.S. just because they disagree with government policy.I believe someone who can engage in conversations objectively, without sentiment, should not make such a statement.

Anyway l have a question for u!
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s asset disclosure shows that, among 567 organizations held in an account managed by a third party, roughly 91.6% were U.S.-based companies. So, if he believes so strongly in Canada’s economy, perhaps he should have close the blind trust and move more of those funds into Canada atleast as an economic expert, as you said.

Pls Reply politely ,maturely non-baised and not as govt official grin

they consume too much conservative propaganda. The US is our largest partner but Canada is also US second largest partner, losing the free trade would affect them greatly too especially with the expensive war and low approval ratings… losing the trade would make things way more expensive for them too.. this is a negotiation, they use propaganda and all to sway public opinion. The complainants on this thread don’t have all the information. You cannot know more than the current prime minister of Canada, you don’t have access to all the data and classified information they have. Yes, there is an affordability issue, but it’s everywhere, no country is spared, talking like Canada is the worst country on earth is just frustration speaking….
Let’s face the truth and put sentiment aside. Canada would likely feel it more because its economy has been heavily tied to the U.S. for decades. The U.S. is Canada’s closest neighbour and biggest export market. In 2025, about 71.7% of Canada’s merchandise exports went to the U.S., showing how deeply connected both economies are. The U.S. also has more leverage because of its larger market, stronger global influence, and wider trade alternatives.

hi

please, my wife landed as PR in mid feb 2026. i was included as non-accompanying, she recently(thisweek) got a job as a casual employee. can i start my PR processing immediately? or wait till she gets a full-time employment

thank you
Firstly, what reason did you previously state for being non-accompanying when she applied for PR? Secondly, how do you intend to prove proof of funds if she is not working full-time, especially since her income can hardly take care of her and the child Also, you know that in a spousal application, she has to sign an undertaking to support you so proof of financial stability is very important.

A gift deed deposited into a newly opened account can raise suspicion of arranged funds or a loan. Be prepared to clearly explain the source of the money, and you may be asked to provide the donor’s bank statements as happened in the case below.

Delivery of documents to WES by courier confirms receipt only. WES must independently verify the authenticity of the documents with the issuing institution before they are accepted. As such, courier delivery and document verification are separate processes.

Good evening
I want to submit bank statements with monthly salary payment from employer's personal account and payslips included. He has been paying for more than 2 years but with his personal account.

Will this be an issue? If so what should be done?
Why would an employer pay salaries from a personal bank account instead of a company account for over two years? That is unacceptable and unprofessional. Legitimate businesses pay salaries from registered company accounts, not personal ones.
If this is not properly explained and backed with solid evidence, it can seriously undermine the credibility of your work experience andcould lead to it being rejected.
I would advise you to start by submitting only the reference letter as requested by IRCC plus the payslip you have , and hope that no ADR is issued for additional documents such as tax clearance, or proof of salary payments.

Hello Everyone,

My PR application has been with IRCC for close to 7 months. Few weeks ago, I got an ADR to submit biodata page of my passport as well as other pages. I was worried because I have been expecting PPR. It's a new passport with no visa stamps on it. I have done a lot of research about this and read all manners of submissions (travel history checks, background, criminality and all sorts).

Please, I would like to find out if anyone had gotten similar ADR and what was done to sail through.

Thank you.
You stated in ur previous posting that you were an international protection applicant (asylum seeker) in a European country before applying for PR to Canada.
That fact alone guarantees enhanced background and security screening by IRCC. Your application will not follow normal processing timelines.
Submit exactly what IRCC requests and expect delays due to deeper verification of your history.

I am an international protection applicant in one of the European countries. The police department told me that my PCC request could impact my application.

With Donald Trump having effectively removed Nicolas Maduro, could Canada face significant economic consequences?
If the United States gains cheaper, more direct access to Venezuela’s oil, will reliance on Canadian supply decline further marginalizing Canada’s energy sector amid limited market access to other buyers and weak diversification?

PLS I need a urgent guidance/hint as regards this. I have someone who has been trying to fill his visitor visa application on the IRCC website and having issues. after filling the form and validated it, the form could still not be uploaded. is anyone facing such? webform filled and Adobe updated to latest version as advised by their response and still unable to proceed to uploading a validated form. what do u think could be done. PLS
The issue is not the certificate warning; the form usually fails to upload because it was not opened and validated in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (desktop), the barcode page did not generate, the file was saved or renamed incorrectly, uploaded to the wrong slot, the solution is to re-download the form, open it only in Adobe Reader DC, validate until the barcode appears, save (not “Save As”), and upload immediately to the correct document slot

Yes, non–Express Entry applications can take up to two years to process, so updated documents may be requested at any stage of the application.

Hello everyone
My uni sent my transcript to WES via email on 7th of November 2025, however, I did not get an email from WES acknowledging receipt of the transcript. I sent them several messages and they said my documents were being evaluated(guess they were talking about my ACCA).
Then on 15th December, WES contacted me that they haven’t received the transcripts for my bachelor’s.
I had to send my school another email for them to send the transcript again because I asked ChatGPT what could be the issue and it said probably the way the email was sent, so WES wasn’t able to tie it to my profile. My uni sent another email on 16/12/2025 but WES is still yet to acknowledge and my dashboard is still showing “awaiting documents from institution”
The email the documents were sent to is documents@wes.org
At this point, I’m confused. Please help
Firstly, schools don’t just send transcripts by email unless they have an official electronic arrangement with WES. What arrangement does your school have with WES, and what method or pattern has your school used successfully for previous students while dealing with WES?

Please for the digital passport photo, am I to upload the photo and the additional document which contains our date of birth and details about the photo studio as a single pdf file? I'm confused about the instructions on ircc website. On the website, it says that there would be 2 upload fields - one for the digital photo and the other for the back or for an additional document containing information about the studio. But on the upload page, there is only one space.
You misunderstood the requirement. All you need to upload is the digital photo when applying pr;the back is not required. When your visa is approved, that’s when you will submit the printed photo with your name and the photographer’s address written on the back.

They are not doing justice to the applications or simply do not want to give visas.. that’s it
Honestly, we have ourselves to blame. Too many people abused the system, and even those who claimed asylum haven’t seen their families for 4 to 6 years yet they still don’t care. That’s why officers don’t trust strong funds or family ties anymore. And it’s not only Nigerians , Indians are also facing heavy refusals now. Canada is even considering stricter rules to reduce asylum abuse, especially for people who passed through ‘safe’ countries before arriving. Until trust is rebuilt, refusals will stay high.

amnotapervert . It seems you quoted what I wrote on another person's quote.

Brampton statement isn't about you. Seems you quoted the post I made on someone else post. You've been objective from onset. Kindly confirm this from your end. Brampton post was never directed at you.
I understand your fear and frustration becos living in Canada for over three years without getting PR can make anyone desperate. But that still doesn’t justify posting your GCMS notes online for sympathy while refusing to face reality.
Let’s be honest: no reputable healthcare organization would ever employ someone as a mental health worker without proper education or certification something even the officer himself is fully aware of. And the link you’re posting doesn’t eliminate that requirement for jobs inside Canada. The officer is doubting your job because, if it were actually genuine and met the standard requirements, it wouldn’t be raising these red flags in the first place.
And frankly, even with your so-called “job,” you couldn’t afford half of my mortgage. You can call others whatever you like, but fake job offers and unethical tactics to get PR aren’t new. With over 2.8 million temporary residents in Canada yourself included it’s a known fact that nearly 70% will never get PR. And the fact that you’re talking down about Brampton and it good somebody inform you about the cost to own a property in that area, only shows the level of your reasoning.

Lolz. Certificate is nothing to oyinbo. You need just ability to perform your job. There's also something called skill tranferability. Also I already worked as a support worker in a different organization for 1 year.

Just to let you know. The information on the nocs are not determinative. This is based on ircc own training manual for their officers obtained by Steve meurrens via access to information. You can read a training manual below.
Well, I live in Canada and actually work in that sector and let’s be clear, most reputable organizations here would never hire anyone for a mental health support worker position without proper certification. So please keep that narrative for the quacks, not for me. That’s probably why the officer is doubting your job it sounds like a dummy position or a cloned reference letter, which we see happening far too often these days.
