MARRIED AND SLAYING: DIARY OF MRS. NWAKAEGO ETADAFE

Episode 9

Dear Diary,

21st November, 2018.

Hi... hi diary. I just finished eating. My tummy looks so round and big, like that of a pregnant woman. I so need to do some exercise. I do not fancy big tummies at all. They make some of one's clothes look like a disaster waiting to happen. I have a toothpick in my mouth, balanced in between my teeth. There are some strands of meat from hell that has decided to torment me this evening. I am determined to get them all out. The nonsensical things are just treacherous. I have been battling with them for several minutes now. I hope I will be free from their wahala in the next hour. I hate it when I have meat stuck in between my teeth. It can be distracting and painful when the toothpick pricks the wrong spot.

Praise called me a while ago. He said he wants us to visit a family friend this evening. He is being out since we got back from church and these past few days, he has been quite busy. I pray my husband won't breakdown. He needs to take it easy.

This impromptu outing made me leave the house in the afternoon, looking for where I could buy a nude colour bra straps. I always forget to buy one whenever I am at the market. The old nude colour bra straps I had, had worn out and it's all tangled up. When I tried to loosen it, the metal head broke off.

Some of the boutiques on my street open for business as from two in the afternoon on Sundays. When I got to the first boutique on my side of the road, I found out that they had a good supply of bra straps and they had nude coloured ones! I was so happy because I wouldn't need to go to and fro, in search of the bra straps I needed. I chose the ones I liked and paid, but on my way out, Jemila Isa walked in.

Jemila is one of my neighbours. Her house is on the left side of mine. The pretty tall dark skinned girl was in her early twenties. We got talking and unexpectedly, she opened up to me. She told me how scared she was. What was her fear? She was afraid that her husband might marry a second wife because she has not given him an heir.

Jemila said her husband, Danlandi, was educated, and even though their religion allowed a man to marry more than one woman, she hoped that she would remain his only wife. But, recently, she's beginning to suspect that there was another woman lurking around her husband.
She had always hoped that her husband would be satisfied with her alone. She had seen too many polygamous homes in her lifetime. And she didn't want that kind of marriage.

Danlandi was twice her age. And she was afraid that he would soon get tired of waiting for her. I felt so pained for Jemila. I tried to encourage her before I left, but the fear in her eyes made me decide to keep her in my prayers.

Na wa o. All these men sef. I don't understand why being married to one woman isn't enough. Why pack women in your home like sardines in a can? Yet, many of these polygamous men will still have side chicks on the side. I don't understand at all.

I just thank God that Praise is not like most of these men. Hmmm... this is why it is not wise to be envious of other people. Oh diary, you need to see Jemila and Danlandi together. They look like they live on cloud 9. You won't even know that they have their own personal issues.

I tire for this kind life we are living men. Problems just full everywhere like sand on the seashore. For those who know God, for those who lean on and trust in him for everything, at least, there is hope. Things will always work together for our good.

But, for those who do not believe him, what happens to them? Where do they go when they are in trouble? Who do they turn to?

Hmmm...

Oh! Praise his back. I can hear the horn of his car. I better go in and change. I wonder when we will return home today.

I like my Sundays because it is my day of rest. I would rather stay back home and relax, or eat out or go to the Beach with Praise. I am not a fan of visiting people on my resting day. But, I do not have a choice. Wherever husband goes, I must go as well.

Got to go diary.

Catch you later.

Episode 8

Dear Diary,

14th November, 2018.

I cannot believe that another week just ran past in a matter of days. Before you know it, Christmas will come and go and everyone will be saying ‘Happy New Year!’ I am actually looking forward to a beautiful 2019. I wonder what the year will hold for me and Praise. I am making lunch for both of us right now. While he watched a movie, I am here in the kitchen, trying to write and cook at the same time. Praise must not catch me with this leather back diary in the kitchen. Hahahaha...

Oh diary, I haven’t really gisted you about my new neighbours. That’s because I don’t really know them well enough. But, I think that will change soon. Let me tell you about the family living right beside us, the Nwigwes. I met the lady of the house, Kamsiyochukwu, during the week. She owned a Salon down the street and she was in her office when I walked into the salon. I wanted a retouch. When Kamsiyo came out of the inner office, she recognized me immediately. We chatted for a while before I left.

Oh diary, things are seriously happening o. Kamsiyo has two pretty girls and she is not prepared to go back to the labour room, but her in-laws were giving her a lot of wahala. She told me that if only her husband would defend and protect her from them; things wouldn’t have escalated to what it was now. But, his constant silence was fuelling their grievances against her. They feel they have his support because he isn’t saying anything. She was like; girls were also children from God. But, no one was listening to her.

I felt so, so sorry for her. No one should go through such horror. An outsider would never imagine that such an almost perfect couple were having issues. You need to see Kamsiyo, her husband, Arinze, and the girls whenever they were stepping out for an event. Their levels no be here at all. Their situation made me realize that, even if you have all the money in the whole wide world, there are some problems your money cannot solve.

Kamsiyo and her husband were devoted Catholics. They do not miss the Sunday Mass at church at all. So, I assumed they must depend on God somehow. So, I encouraged her to keep trusting in God. Nothing was impossible for Him. She told me that she wasn’t even ready to get pregnant again. She had her girls through CS and she almost died twice. I was just short of words and I didn’t know what else to tell her again.
Kamsiyo is fairer that I am. She is taller, curvier and probably prettier. But her beauty and head-turning physique couldn’t save her from the wrath of her in-laws. I don’t understand men sometimes. Why will you marry a lady, promise her happily ever after, then when certain issues arise, you abandon her and allow wolves in the embodiment of your family, friends and etcetera to pounce on her and tear her to shreds? What happened to the wedding vows? To the promises you made? To the declaration of love to protect her against all odds and every form of evil, even if it is your own family?

I don’t understand why some men put their wives through all these kind of pains and discomfort. I pity Kamsiyo and I pray that God will shame her enemies and give her a son, sooner than she could ever think or imagine.

Talking about men, I told you last week that Praise was carrying his face for me because I haven’t been responding to his sexual promptings. I decided to compensate him for his patience. I actually had to seduce him o. He couldn’t resist and we have been at it, 2-4-7, since last week, up till now. I cannot complain sha. My husband has been patient enough. He needs to reap the harvest of his patience. Hahahaha...

Talking about in-laws, I heard some ladies pray that the mother of whomever they marry should die before they tie the knot. Can you blame them? Nobody wants wahala. Some people like me are just lucky, no, we are favoured. We have good in-laws and our mother-in-laws are angels. But, some women are facing nightmares because of their in-laws. It is just pathetic. I pray that God will see them through in Jesus name.

When my own children come, be it boys or girls or both, I pray that my husband and in-laws will be happy and satisfied.

I can smell the aroma of the food I am cooking. Lunch is ready!

Got to go diary.

Catch you later.

Thanks for the update SheWrites...

I agree with what silver94 said. There's need for a little drama...everything is just going too well for Nwakaego and it's kinda boring.
There is always a calm before the storm...

Nwakaego is in the period of 'calm' in her marriage.

The storm is brewing and it is coming faster than you think.

Don't forget that will are still in episode 7, we have about 40 chapters to go...

Patience is the key my friends... una wan chop the whole soup in one day, haba!

MARRIED AND SLAYING: DIARY OF MRS. NWAKAEGO ETADAFE

Episode 7

Dear Diary,

7th November, 2018.

Hi hi diary. Glad to be writing again after an exhaustive weekend. I am seated in front of the house, eating roasted corn and boiled pear. I am also sipping chilled Chapman drink from a big glass mug. Life is good, ba?

Hmmm... diary. You won't believe who I had to cater for this weekend. It was Skylight Properties! Who would have thought something like this will ever happen?

One of my clients actually recommended my services to one of the board of directors. That was how they called me during the week. They were having an award ceremony and I was paid to provide the food and the drinks.

At first, I wanted to turn them down. But, this is business. I had to shelve my emotions, put aside what the company did to me and prove to them that I was the best in my new line of business.
They were quite impressed and right now as I write, I have about a dozen more contracts added to my 2018 calendar. And they are worth millions of naira.

Lagos people can chop sha. Una like food, biko. I hail una. Lagosians, Lagosians.

I had no idea that food business was a thriving venture until I started Ego's Kitchen. All glory to God, sha. God has been so, so good to me. When he wants to bless you, he can use anyone and anything. One just have to pray that when God's blessing come, regardless of the way it comes or irrespective of who he uses, one will not miss it.

I have come to understand that sometimes, God puts your gold in a polythene bag. If you lack the sixth sense and the patience required to claim your blessing, you might end up throwing the polythene bag away, not knowing that your gold is inside!

During Skylight Properties' award event, I saw some of my former colleagues. Mrs. Nkiruka Eze was so happy to see me. She told me that she was proud of me and I felt elated.

And yes, I saw Mr. Nosa Akhere too. The married man I allowed to almost ruin my life. He succeeded in getting me fired, but that's water under the bridge now.

Mr. Nosa couldn't take his eyes off me. The man was just following me about like the way little chicks run after the mother hen. At a point, I got irritated. The useless old goat started to spew his usual rubbish.

He told me how much he missed me and how he had not been able to erase my memory from his mind. He said he wants us to continue from where we stopped. He promised to take care of me and etcetera.

God punish devil! What does this crooked fowl take me for?

I had to use laughter to cover my annoyance, because of the people around. Or else, I would have washed me down with unprintable words.

Oh diary, you should have seen the look on Mr. Nosa's face when I told him that I was now a happily married woman. The bewilderment written on his face was an award winning expression.

But the stubborn he-goat remained adamant. The more he talked, the more I got infuriated. Can you imagine that he said been married doesn't stop us from catching fun? The stupid mofo said whilst I service my husband at home, I can as well create time for him on the outside.

Diary, this man is mad! I swear, he has been cursed from his mother's womb. He is nothing compared to Praise and I can never, ever cheat on my husband.

It is not his fault. It is because he is sleeping with other women whilst his wife and children are home. That is why he thinks everyone else should join the band wagon. God punish him!

I told him point blank that I do not entertain such illicit act. I also told him that I loved my husband and nothing in the whole wide world will make me to lie with another man. Heaven forbid!
Mr. Nosa said he knew more than a dozen women who kept men outside their matrimonial homes.

Diary, please help me ask him, wetin concern me? E be like say dem send Mr. Nosa to me this weekend. But their plan no work. I ready for all my enemies!

I set the record straight this time around. I told Mr. Nosa that he has finally missed road. I was now a God fearing child, committed to stick to my saviour's wishes and rules.

The blockhead seemed deaf. I am not sure he heard a word I said. Because, he brought out his check book and wrote five million naira. He promised me more money when we hook up at some hotel during the new week.

This man is mad o! He has gone completely loco and I doubt if he can ever recover.

Gone were the days when the sight of money freaks me. Or make me get overly excited.

The mofo was surprised when I turned down his offer. He actually got upset because it dawned on him that I wasn't going to play ball. God forbid! I guess he had no idea that I was going to reject his offer. He must have been banking on our past relationship, but I wasn't that girl anymore.

What a shame. Too bad for the wretched fowl. He can fry beans cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner, for all I care. I left him there without a backward glance. Good riddance!

I have been quite busy preparing for this Skylight Properties' event and now that it is over, I need to make it up to Praise. Whenever he came close to me night after night, I kept making excuses. They were genuine excuses though, but body no be firewood o.

I know he isn't happy with me at the moment because he has been carrying his face for me all week long. I so need to compensate him. The guy has really tried. I plan to give it to him as he dey hot! Round after round, non-stop pleasure! I am sure he will be delighted and relieved.

Work is over and it is time to play. Hahahaha...
Got to go now.

Talk to you later diary.

Bye.

MARRIED AND SLAYING: DIARY OF MRS. NWAKAEGO ETADAFE

Episode 6

1st November, 2018.

Happy New Month diary! Christmas is almost here again and I cannot wait to celebrate as a married woman. Last year Christmas, I was still single. Wow! How time flies. Na wa o. Last year Christmas, I doubt if I would have believed if anyone had told me that I would be married by now. Hmmm... God sure does works in mysterious ways.

Praise and I just finished eating dinner. While he is watching CNN, I am here in the bedroom, writing as usual. A lot has happened these past few weeks. I had several outdoor contracts to cater for. My staff and I were overworked at some point. I had to give them a special bonus. And of course, they were all happy.

Diary, you won't believe who I met at one of the parties I catered for. I was shocked at first when I saw him, then I became scared for my safety. I wanted to leave immediately, and avoid been seen. But, how long will I keep running? I had to sum up the courage and faced my worst nightmare, Gbenro Ajibade.

Do you remember this devil's advocate? He was the guy I dated, the sex maniac who locked me up in his apartment when I tried to break up with him. Then he and his demonic friends violated me till I became unconscious. Remember I had to move out of my apartment in Palm Avenue because of him.

I saw him at a client's birthday bash. When he noticed me, he started to smile as if he had just won the American Lottery. The mad guy approached me and told me that fate had brought us together and this time around, he would not allow me out of his sight. He basically said I wasn't going to be able to escape from him that evening. He said a lot of jargons, things I am too angry to write down. The mofo said I was his for life.

Imagine diary. Who dash monkey banana? I think Gbenro needs help. Something is seriously wrong with that guy. He needs a brain transplant. His body system as a whole is malfunctioning.

I told him straight up that I was now a married woman. And I belonged to no one else but Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I have just one Lord and master. No one can ever take his place in my life.

This Gbenro guy started to laugh like an hyena. He said Jesus and my husband cannot save me from him. The lunatic said he was going to take me home that night, lock me up and show me how much he has missed me. He also planned to call his friends. They had been requesting to taste me again.

Ah diary... see my life outside. If not for decorum, courtesy and manners, I would have broken a bottle on Gbenro's head, right then and there.

I grabbed him by the collar and poked a finger into one of his lustful eyes. I dared him to attempt to lay a finger on me. I dared him to stalk me that night. I dared him to follow me home and I promised that I wouldn't call the police. I will just arrange some boys. They will take him to the bush and torture him until he paid an unexpected visit to his maker before sunrise.

Gbenro pulled away from my anggressive grip and took some steps back in an instant. He must have noticed how serious I was. He must have also sensed that I was different from the single girl he dated in the past.

The guy looked scared. Then he started to run his mouth. He said he had a thousand ladies at his beck and call and they were sexier, prettier and better in bed than I was. I encouraged him to go and meet them.

That night, before my very eyes, my situation with Gbenro changed. The predator became the prey. The hunter became the hunted. And I was more than happy that, that would be the last time I was going to see Gbenro.

Can you imagine the lunatic? He wants to turn me into his sex slave. The scallywag will surely rot in hell when his cup was full. Including his lewd and nonsensical friends.

Ah diary. What if I had allowed fear to take over me? Gbenro would have been able to kidnap me that night. Praise will now be looking for me, not knowing that I was in the home of a monster. God forbid! I cannot even write down the thoughts flying in my head right now.

I just thank God for taking control of the situation. May I never meet the likes of Gbenro again in my lifetime in Jesus name! Amen oooo!

Hey! Praise is here. I didn't even know when he came in. He is eyeing my diary and he just said, "You and this your diary..."

I got to go diary. Wify duties calls. I am feeling honey tonight. I so need some servicing.
See yah later diary.

MARRIED AND SLAYING: DIARY OF MRS. NWAKAEGO ETADAFE

Episode 5

Dear Diary,

21st October, 2018.

I had a very unusual weekend. It all started on a high note, then things took a new swerve to the unexpected.

Okay, let me gist you about it, diary, before I start to ramble unnecessarily. Hahahaha...

I wanted to do some shopping, so I woke up early, called my staff and dished out instructions and threats as well. Yes, loads of threats. Sometimes, these people can mess up your business in your absence.

Once I was done, I made Praise breakfast, ate mine, took my bath and left the house looking fly in my pink T.M Lewis long sleeve shirt and blue jeans. My hair was braided with attachments that had three shades of brown. This complimented my light brown complexion, making me look like a barbie doll.

Hahahaha... Praise almost stopped me from leaving the house. He wanted to pounce on me, but I fled. Unexpectedly, my car refused to start. It was as if it was silently taking sides with my husband.

I called our mechanic sharp sharp. He came over and by the time he was done checking the vehicle, he said it was a minor fault. I was very happy, until the guy told me that it would take him about an hour to repair the car.

As in how now?

I thought of waiting around. But, if I did, I might end up postponing the shopping, because my husband wouldn't allow me out of his sight once I go back in. We would surely end up spending the weekend in the bedroom.

My husband's driver was around at that time. So, I asked him to get me a cab while I waited by the gate. I could see Praise standing by the window, expecting me to come in. No way!

Ten minutes later, I was on my way to shoprite in a cab. When I arrived, there was a crowd as usual. Men, women, teenagers, children, toddlers, and babies. People were everywhere!
I found my way to the shops I needed to make my purchases and began to shop. When I was done, I decided to check out the list of available movies at the cinema. I snapped the list and sent it to Praise. He chatted me up on WhatsApp and he told me that he would join me at the plaza in the next hour.

I was elated. I enjoyed watching movies with my husband. And I always wished we could do it often. While I waited, I decided to window-shop.
Lo and behold, diary, you will not believe who I saw. I saw Benson! He was with a dark skinned lady and the way they held each other, I could tell that they were lovers or more. The lady was heavily pregnant by the way.

Benson saw me too and I could see the surprise in his facial expression. He approached me, still holding the dark skinned lady. We exchanged greetings and he introduced the lady as his fiancee. He told her that I was his colleague at his former workplace.

The dark skinned lady looked at me from hair to shoes, then she eyed me. Diary, can you imagine? She eyed me! Wetin I do o, diary?

Why do we women behave like this sometimes? You do not know me from Adam. Your fiance said I was his former colleague, not even his ex o. And you're already giving me attitude. What will you do if I was an ex-lover? Stab me? Break bottle on my head? For no just cause? I am not understanding again o.

Hahahaha... I laugh in Spanish. I don't blame her sha. I actually looked very, very good. I am curvier than I used to be, my coconuts are fuller and my backyard is something else. My physique is enough to drive any man nuts. Plus my pretty face, which still turn heads every now and then.

So, we cannot entirely blame the girl. She must have thought I was one Mammy water that wants to steal her man. Hahahaha... She was just drawing territorial lines and establishing her domain. So, I understand.

I congratulated Benson and the lady and wished them both a happily married life. And I said that I would love to come eat their pounded yam and catfish on the D-day. Then I told them that I was married already.

Benson said he was happy for me, but his smile barely reached his eyes. Then his fiancée started to smile one stupid smile. I guess she was relieved that I was no longer a threat.

I am just shaking my head right now. Women! Ah! May God help us oooo.

Benson gave the lady some money and told her to go buy the ice-cream that she had been craving for since they arrived. She kissed him and abandoned us sharply. I was a little bit amused. I had a feeling that Benson got rid of the lady for a while, so that he could talk to me freely.

When Benson's fiancée was out of earshot, he told me how beautiful I looked and how he wished he was the one married to me. I just stared at him, totally shocked.

Yes, diary. I was dumbfounded for the next few minutes.

Benson went on to say that he was really sorry for not listening to me or hearing me out, that period when Korede drugged and raped me. Benson said he was angry and hurt back then, because he thought Korede took what was rightfully his.

Benson asked for my forgiveness and I assured him that we were good henceforth. There was really nothing to forgive anyway. I am not saying his actions didn't hurt me, in fact, it depressed me. But I have gotten way past that now.

When his fiancée returned, licking from a cone of huge juicy and creamy vanilla and strawberry ice-cream, I bade them farewell and walked away.

I got a call from my husband the next few minutes. He said he was standing outside the cinema, waiting for me.

I hurried to the cinema to meet him. We selected a movie, bought popcorn and frIzzy drinks, then went in to enjoy ourselves. We had fun. And I wished we could stay out all night long. But that is so not possible. I think we got home around eleven or so.

Thinking about Benson now and what he said, I wondered if I would have been happy, if I was married to him. I wondered if we had eventually dated, would the relationship have ended at the altar, or we would have probably gone our separate ways by now.

One can never tell what would have happened.
I am just glad Benson realized how wrong he had been back then. He made a very bad decision by shutting me out of his life and pushing me away. But we cannot blame him entirely, he is afterall a full blooded man. Only God knew what went through his head that night when he saw Korede on top of me, pounding me like there was no tomorrow.

I am even flattered that he wished that he was married to me. Well, we can't eat our cake and have it. Life isn't a bed of roses at all. I can't even imagine myself married to anyone else except Praise. No one else compares to him as far as I am concerned.

Oh my... Praise just came out of the shower.
I have got to go now diary.

Wify duties calls.

Talk to you later.

Mwuah!
