Timothy badged into the duplex.

"Mr. Man!" the furious guard ran after him.

He ignored the security man and started to search the rooms in the house one after the other. When he got to the fourth room, he found Richard naked, kneeling over Sayu on a King size bed.

She was still in her clothes, but her red shirt was opened. Anger boiled within him as he watched his adversary feasting on his fiancee's bosom.

He screamed in fury, ran towards the bed and pounced on Richard. They rolled off the bed and fell on the rugged floor with a thud.

They exchanged punches, slaps and head-butts. The guard came in and pulled them apart.

"You and your entire family will hear from my lawyer!" his voice hit the roof.

"You don't have a case, you can't prove anything," he glared at him, the guy had truncated his perfectly cordinated plan of impregnating Sayu and convincing her to marry him.

"We shall see," he scooped her half-conscious body in his arms and carried her out of the room.

Timothy stopped the first bike he saw outside the house. He showed the driver the address Sayu sent him. They bargained and agreed on a price. He got on the bike and called her line again. It kept on ringing, no response.

He swallowed hard and prayed to God to rescue his fiancee. If Richard had truly drugged her, that meant only one thing, he was going to eat her up. The thought of what he could do to her paralyzed him with trepidation.

Thirty minutes later, he got down in front of the house with a big white gate. He paid the bike driver and pressed the bell. A security guard came out.

"Morning, my fiancee is here with Richard Ero."

The guard eyed him, "Do you have an appointment?"

He placed his hands on his hips, visibly angry, "My woman is in there. If any harm comes to her, I will have you and everyone living in this house arrested!"

"Take it easy. What exactly do you want?"

"My fiancee."

"Okay, wait, I will go and get her."

"No way. I am coming with you," he followed him in.

"Please sit down. What can I offer you?" he smiled at her. He couldn't hide his excitement.

She surveyed the large room. It was beautifully decorated with expensive furnitures and the latest gadgets. There were different kinds of paintings on the wall and the curtains blended with the colour of the rug.

She sat on a chair close to the Plasma television, "I am okay. Thank you."

"No, no, let me get you something to drink," he hurried out of the room and returned with a bottle of fruit wine and a small bowl of cookies.

While she ate and drank, he sat opposite her, reading and signing the documents one by one.

Suddenly she started to feel funny. Drowsiness seeped into her system and she began to lose strength. Fear gripped her. She had a nagging feeling that she had been drugged. She directed her gaze at him and saw him looked away.

She dipped her hand into her bag, brought out her phone and dialed her fiance's lines. She cut the calls and sent him a text, describing her predicament.

She got down from the car and approached the white intimidating gate. She pressed the blue coloured bell and waited. She brought out the brown envelop from the red hand bag and stared at the gate blankly.

A guard came out and they exchanged greetings. She showed him her office identity card. He led her in and directed her to the ground floor of the cream painted duplex.

She walked briskly to the front door and knocked. The door opened almost immediately. She became confused when she saw Richard.

"Morning, I have been expecting this," he took the envelop from her.

When her boss sent her to that address to deliver the documents, she had no idea that the recipient was her son. Why didn't Mrs. Ero inform her outrightly?

"I need to go through these..." he stepped back in, "Once I have signed it, you will take it back to her."

Reluctantly, she followed him in. She didn't see the reason why she had to wait. He could as well send his driver to bring the documents back to the office.

He paid for the fuel, lifted the jerry can and walked towards the road. A man standing by a car, making a phone call caught his attention. He recognized him. It was Mrs Ero's son, Richard. He changed direction and approached him.

"Hello, I am Timothy Pepper, Osayuwamwen's fiance."

The taller man ended his call and looked him up and down.

"I want you to stay away from my woman."

Richard started to laugh, "You are a fool if you think an insignificant person like you can stop me from marrying her."

He moved closer, "Your money and social status is useless. She is immune to it."

"I know. She is different. Why do you think I fell in love with her?"

"Go and find another woman to love. Sayu is mine."

"I don't think so."

"I have warned you," he snarled at him and started to walk away.

"Right before your very eyes she will be my wife and bear my children!" he boasted.

"In your dreams!" Timothy stopped a bike driver. He got on the machine and glanced back at Richard's angry face.

The scowl on his face made her heart leap.

"I told my parents not to mind him."

"This is all your fault!"

She stared back at him, astonished.

"He wouldn't have had the guts to approach your parents if you had not led him on."

His accusation felt like a million needles prickling her flesh all at once. She held back tears and pressed her lips together.

"Didn't I warn?!" he glared at her.

Her lips trembled, "Even if the world ends and start all over again, you are the one I would rather spend the rest of my life with."

Their gazes locked. His fury melted.

"I love you so much," he held her hands, "I don't want to lose you."

"I love you too. I am not going anyway."

The assurance in her eyes encouraged him. He went on his knees and looked deep into her eyes.

"Osayuwamwen Nosakhare, will you marry me?"

Joy and relief brightened her tears stained face, "Yes, I will."

"I will buy an engagement ring tomorrow."

"No wahala," she chuckled.

He drew her into his arms and kissed her.

She knocked on the door again. She was sure that he was home. She sent him a text whilst she was at her parents' place. She leaned against the wall and waited. She felt a bit chilly. Maybe it was because she had just taken her bath. She rubbed her shoulders and debated whether to go back to her room and change the sleeveless blouse she was putting on or stay.

The door opened. He seized her up and frowned when he noticed the wrapper tied around her waist. He went back into the room. She followed him and shut the door behind her.

"How are your parents?"

She rubbed her shoulders again and sat beside him on the long chair, "They are fine."

"Why are you tying a wrapper?"

She turned away and groaned inwardly. She knew how much he disliked it. She decided to change the subject.

"Mrs. Ero's son went to see my parents during the week."

"What for?" he frowned.

She sighed heavily and met his stern stare, "He asked my father for my hand in marriage."

"He did what?!" his voice hit the roof.

"I saw him too. He looks like someone who grew up abroad," Ikponmwosa chimed in. He was equally pleased.

Nekpen and Adesuwa spoke at once.

"You need to hear him speak. His British accent is fluent."

"He is as handsome as those Hollywood actors."

She stared at her brothers and sisters, lost for words. She turned to her father, "I am dating someone else."

He frowned, "I don't understand."

"Timothy Pepper is my boyfriend. Richard is my madam's son."

Silence engulfed the room.

"Why hasn't Timothy visited?" he sounded upset.

"He will come, as soon as he put things together."

"This is how people miss out on their God given opportunities," Osarodion glared at her.

She ignored her eldest brother and faced her parents, "Please don't mind Richard. I will never marry him."

Akhere and his wife became sad. Their first daughter had made her decision. They could only hope that it was the right choice. They were not the kind of parents who forced their children into marriage because of money.

Sayu walked into the house. It had been a while since she had visited her parents. If not that her father called her that morning, she would have debated when to see them.

She knocked on the eighth door and turned the knob. She stepped into the room and noticed that her siblings were around. She greeted everyone and sat beside her mother.

"Thank you for coming. How is work?"

"Fine sir."

"Hope they increased your salary when they promoted you."

"Yes, they did."

He nodded with satisfaction. She glanced at her siblings, looking from one to the other. They all stared back at her. What was going on?

"A young man by the name Richard Ero came to see us," the joy in her voice radiated in her eyes.

"Richard?" she stared at her mother in disbelief.

"He asked for your hand in marriage," her father broke into a contented smile.

"What?!" shock gripped her.

"I believe he is from a rich family. Great catch," her eldest brother winked at her.

She blinked and gathered her enraged thoughts.

Timothy could barely sleep that night. His girlfriend's boss' wealthy son was chasing after her. What if she dumped him and accepted the guy's proposal? It would rip him into shreds and hurt like hell!

He loved her so much. Losing her now would wreck him emotionally and mentally. He tried to clear the negative thoughts from his mind and think positively.

Sayu loved him. He knew that for a fact. Sure of it like he knew his own name. He trusted her, but, her boss' son was a trouble maker. The guy could cause them a lot of problems. He didn't want that. She also needed to be more careful around him.

He turned on his tummy. Was Sayu's love for him enough to withstand the advances from other men? Will she give in under pressure or stand her ground, remaining undaunted by whatever kind of temptation that came her way?

Literally, he was scared and troubled. He was still trying to get back on his feet. He didn't need distractions and bad omen in the embodiment of Mrs. Ero's son, Richard.

The driver parked the car outside her house.

"Hope we can go on a dinner date tomorrow."

She gave a shake of head, "I don't think so," she opened the door.

"Sayu..."

She glanced back at him. Unexpectedly, he cupped her face in his palms and swallowed her lips. Shock and anger waged a war within her. She pushed him away and staggered out of the car. If not that he was her boss' son she would have slapped him.

She stepped away from the vehicle and marched into the compound. She slowed her steps when she saw Timothy standing at the entrance of the house. He looked angry.

"You should have told me that you were now dating someone else."

She shook her head vigorously.

"I saw you both kissing!"

"No! He... he did it."

"Why did you allow him to kiss you?" he snapped.

"No! I... I didn't. He..."

"I warned you. I told you to be careful."

She nodded in agreement, "I am sorry."

He hissed and walked away.

"Timothy!"

He didn't respond. She placed a hand on her head, eyes misty with tears.

She stood at the bus-stop waiting for a vehicle heading to New Garage. The buses available were heading towards Gbagada Church. Someone tapped her and pointed at a car parked under the bridge. The driver waved at her.

She groaned inwardly and walked sluggishly towards the car. She saw Richard seated at the back seat. He grinned and opened the door.

"Let's go somewhere, dine and talk."

She stood by the car, "No, thanks. I just want to go home."

"Oh, okay. I will drop you."

"No, thank you."

"Come on. Get in."

She exhaled loudly and climbed in. The driver started the engine and joined the teaming traffic.

"Have you thought about my proposal?"

She looked him up and down, "What is there to think about? Your mum is already planning a wedding."

"Perfect," he broke into a happy smile.

"I cannot marry you," she looked him in the eye.

He moved closer, "I will take care of you. You will lack nothing," his eyes betrayed his emotions.

The passion in his eyes increased her frustration.

She listened attentively and jotted down everything her boss dictated.

"What do you think about my son?"

She raised her head and met Mrs. Ero's excited stare. She blinked, "Em..." her eyes darted left then right, "He is nice," she forced a smiled.

"Nice?" she made a throaty laugh, "Both of you are perfect together."

She cleared her throat and scratched a spot on her scalp.

"He has fallen in love with you. We could have a Christmas wedding or a Valentine wedding," her facial expression took on a dreamy form.

"Ma..."

"You are a good girl and I like you," she broke into a satisfied smile.

"Ma, I am in a relationship."

"So?"

She stared back at her puzzled.

"Has he paid your bride price?"

"No, but I..."

"We are coming to see your family pretty soon. Get ready."

"Ma, I..."

"That will be all," she directed her attention to the laptop on the table, "I want that memo typed, edited and delivered before lunch break."

"Yes, ma," she got up slowly and walked out greatly burdened.

She turned around and saw Timothy standing by the rusted gate. His face was clouded with questions.

"Evening," she walked up to him.

"Hi."

"How was your day?" she smiled at him.

"How was yours?" his dark face was expressionless.

"O-kay, that was my boss' son."

He raised an eyebrow.

"He came by the office today. I had lunch with them and he offered to drop me."

"I see," he folded his arms across his chest.

"Can you believe that he asked me out?" she rolled her eyes.

"Yes I can. You are a pretty woman. Any man who sees you will want to keep you all to himself."

She directed her gaze at him.

"Even if he is your boss' son, you need to be careful."

She nodded in agreement, "Okay."

"Good," he headed into the house. She narrowed her eyes. She could bet her salary on the fact that her boyfriend was jealous. He had nothing to worry about. She loved him. Wealth, looks, fame, absolutely nothing in the whole wide world could make her leave him. Her heart belonged to him completely.

"I am so, so sorry. I have a boyfriend," the reason why he made sure she came along dawned on her.

"Boyfriend? Has he paid your bride price?"

"Not yet," she eyed him.

"That means that you are available. You are still single."

She began to shake her head.

"I will love, cherish and take care of you," he reached out for her hands.

"It is not possible. I love him," she pulled her hands away from his.

"Give me a chance. You will not regret it."

She turned her head and looked out of the window. Her boss' son was good looking and wealthy. He was the kind of guy many ladies would chase after.

Nevertheless, there was no point in giving him a chance into her life. She loved Timothy and would marry him without blinking. No man or wealth could replace him.

Forty minutes later, the driver parked in front of her house.

"Thank you."

He smiled, "Have a good night."

"You too," she opened the door and got down from the car. She stepped aside and watched the vehicle zoomed off.

She downed her drink, "I think she is the best female boss I have had in a while."

He started to laugh, "Why do women have issues with other women?"

"Well, some women don't get along with their counterparts as easily as others do."

"But, why?"

She shrugged and glanced at her gold plated wrist-watch. It was past five.

"Are you ready to leave?"

She raised her head, looked at him and nodded.

"Where do you stay?"

"Bariga."

"Okay, let me drop you."

"Thanks," she picked up her bag.

They left the table and headed out. The driver opened the door of the vehicle, closed it when they climbed in and hurried to the front seat.

"I told my mum that the only thing that guaranteed my stay in Nigeria is if I find a good woman to marry."

She glanced at him.

"I believe that you are the one I have been waiting for. I will like to date and marry you as soon as possible."

Her countenance changed.

Mrs. Ero, Richard and Osayuwamwen found an empty table close to the window. While the women sat down, he went to make orders for their meal. She took in her surrounding. She frequented Spoon Feeders Eatery whenever she had to get lunch for her boss.

She had never attempted to eat there because of the outrageous price tag on their food. She wondered if the taste of their meals was equivalent to the prices charged.

Richard returned with a waiter. They arranged the plates of food and drinks on the table. He gave him a tip and sat beside his mother.

While they ate, she bent her head slightly and breathed a prayer. Mrs. Ero got a call, gulped down her drink and left in a hurry.

She decided to eat quickly and head home. Her boyfriend might have returned from his contract-hunting spree. She prayed that one of those companies he had given his proposal to would agree to his terms and employ him.

She noticed that Richard's plate was empty. She watched him, wondering why he brought her along.

Osayuwamwen knocked and went into her boss' office. She was in the company of a male visitor. The woman usually leave the office between four and five in the evening. It gave her the opportunity to close early. There were times her boss left the office before four. On those days, her visitors were usually related to her.

"Sayu meet my son Richard," the woman had a proud look on her face.

She stood at the table and turned towards the young man, "Good afternoon sir."

"Good afternoon," his British accent was as clear as day.

"He schooled abroad, lived and worked in the U.K for a while, now he is home to stay."

She directed her calm gaze at the woman. She looked happy.

"We are going out for a late lunch. I will head home from there."

"All right ma."

"Why don't she join us?" mother and son locked gazes.

"Oh, okay," she turned to meet her P.A's confused face.

"I am ready when you are."

"Okay, give me a minute."

She caught a glimpse of her boss' son. He smiled and winked at her.

He returned home physically and mentally exhausted. He pulled off his clothes, tied a towel around his waist and left the room with his bucket. He joined the queue outside the bathroom and replayed the day on his tensed mind.

He had submitted his proposal to several companies on the island and the mainland that day. He prayed and hoped that they would get back to him asap. His survival depended on the new contract jobs he hoped to get.

His plans of asking Sayu to marry him had been truncated by the recent turn of events. He hoped to get back on his feet sooner than later, get a better accommodation, possibly a car, then buy an engagement ring and propose to her.

He had about eight point five million in his accounts, but, he wasn't ready to touch his savings yet. He needed a stable source of income. He had never done a nine to five job since he graduated years ago. He had been on his own for a very long time. Where was he going to start from? He gazed at the sky. He needed a miracle.

She came out of her room and saw her boyfriend banging on Kalu's door.

"Timothy."

He glanced back at her, "Have you seen him today?"

"No."

"The bastard!" his eyes blazed with rage.

His countenance alarmed her. She hurried to his side.

"Can you imagine that all my contracts were terminated today?"

She sucked in breath.

"They paid me off and signed up someone else."

"Jesus!" her hand flew to her mouth.

"I asked around and found out that the culprit agreed to take half of what I was paid for the same work load."

"Oh my God!"

"When I called the I.T guys that worked with me, they told me that Kalu informed them that he was now in charge. The leech is ready to pay them double," he snarled.

The pain she saw in his eyes made her heart ache.

"I was just trying to help him, but, the pig went behind my back, poisoned their minds and stole all my deals."

It dawned on her that Kalu had moved out. She drew him close and hugged him. She felt him tremble against her. Was he crying?

Timothy dashed out of his room in a black suit, blue shirt, black tie and black Italian shoes. He just got a call from someone in PZ Industries, one of the firms he consulted for. The board of directors were planning to terminate his contract and sign up someone else. Why would they do such a thing? He had a good relationship with them. What went wrong?

On his way to the junction, he got a text from a Director in Orange Drugs, a company he also consulted for. They were dissolving their bond with him. What was really going on? Two out of the four companies he had contracts with had ended their deals with him.

While waiting for a bus, he got a call from one of the Brand Managers at Nestle Foods Limited. His contract with them had been terminated. He placed a hand on his head in confusion and jumped into the bus that stopped at the bus stop. He wished he could fly to Ilupeju. He checked his phone and saw a text from a friend working at Glaxo Smith Kline. The message was bad news.

She wanted to stop him, but the sensations that zinged through the core of her being melted her restraint. She felt his moist, warm lips travelling down her neckline and settling on her chest. Where was her blouse? She couldn't remember when he took it off. She needed to stop him. They had gone too far.

She pressed her hands against his chest, in an attempt to push him away, but it was as if her bones had turned to jelly. She willed herself to speak, but, she could only moan. The electrifying pleasure generated by his handling turned her senses upside down.

Driven by an intensified passion, he plunged into her. Flooded by mounting pleasure, he charged like a wild bull. At the peak of it all, he gripped the edge of the bed and yelled.

He rolled away, panting for breath. His mind cleared. What had he done? He closed his eyes in shame. Why didn't she stop him? He couldn't believe that he had just slept with her.
They lay on their backs, side by side, each lost in his and her own thoughts.

He followed her into the room, carrying a big bowl of ice-cream. He dropped it on the table and looked around him. He liked the way the wall paint colour blended with her green and orange rug.

She closed the door, kicked off her shoes and threw her hand bag on the chair.

"Nice room."

"Thanks," it was his first time in her room,
"I had a great time," she face brightened.

His lips widened in a smile, "Me too," he drew her close. She smiled back at him and noticed the loving way he stared at her.

"Have a goodnight, my damsel," he wrapped his arms around her and sealed her lips with a kiss. She placed her hands around his neck and responded.

Basking in the warmth of her nearness, it became almost impossible to pull away. He gave into the desires that exploded within him, lifted her up in his arms and navigated his way to the bed.

Crushed under his weight his weight, consumed by his kisses, turned on by his caresses, she felt the hardness of his middle-man. Her heart beat accelerated.

Timothy and Osayuwamwen carried their trays of food and searched for an empty table. They found one close to the exit door, settled down and started to eat. Half-way through the meal, his constant intent stares began to make her feel uncomfortable.

"What?"

He smiled and drank from his glass of chapman, "I have wanted to take you out times without number, but, I couldn't find an excuse to do so."

"Why do you need an excuse?"

"I wasn't sure if you were in a relationship."

"Why didn't you ask?"

"I am glad that an opportunity came today, now we are here."

She met his teasing gaze.

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"No."

"Neither do I."

Their gazes locked.

"I have watched you for a while. I drew close to you as a friend, but now, I want more."

She shuddered with excitement. He wants more! She had been dreaming of dating him like forever. It was almost too good to be true that her desires had turned into reality.
