True Story

❕A man rented a house and moved in with his family.

❕After 2 years, the rent was increased from #400,000 to #500,000.

❕He didn't complain because he liked the house.

❕The following year, he couldn't come up with the money and the agent was on his neck.

❕The wife saw what the husband was going through and decided to help. She lent the money to her husband to pay the rent.

❕The husband was indeed very happy that his wife was so helpful and he paid back later.

❕Two years later, the house rent increased to #700,000 and the man became upset. So he begged the agent to introduce him to the landlord so that he could plead with him but the agent bluntly refused.

❕The man decided to do an underground investigation to uncover who the landlord is.

❕What he found out really shocked him �

❗The house belonged to his wife.

THE CONCEPT OF GOOD NUTRITION.

Nutrition is best balanced by eating the right amount of a large variety of foods. This right proportion provides:
The proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins needed for a healthy body.
The right amount of water and exercise are also a very important factor to good health and good nutritional status.
Nature has provided a variety of foods for man to consume and be healthy. We consume food for maintenance of health, growth and to develop greater resistance to infections and diseases. Now, foods contains some chemical components called NUTRIENTS in varying proportions, which are needed for proper growth and maintenance of life processes. The basic fundamentals of this optimum nutrition is the knowledge of the functions of these nutrients and their major food sources. This really goes a long way in helping a natural man formulate a nutritious diet and helps a diseased man knows the kind of diet that can help best as a therapy to his condition. The quality and quantity of the food we eat is extremely important.
What is Nutrition? Nutrition as defined by Robinson (1982) is the science of foods and nutrients, their actions, interactions, and balance in relationships to health and disease, the process by which an organism ingests, digests, absorbs, transports, and utilizes nutrients to the process of disposing their end products as faeces, sweat or urine.
Nutrition as defined by Kolajo O. Solomon (2016) is a branch of science that deals with the functions of food and it's chemical components (nutrients) in the maintenance of health, and treatment of disease conditions.
Nutrients are those chemical constituents of food that must be supplied to the body in adequate amounts. These includes Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Minerals, and Vitamins.
Balanced diet is one which contains all the essential nutrients (Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, Fats, Carbohydrates, and Water) taken in the right proportion at a serving.
Nutritional status is the condition of health of the individual as influenced by the utilization of the nutrients.
Health as defined by World Health Organization (WHO) is the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being of an individual, not merely the absence of disease or infirmities.
To maintain optimum health and good nutritional status, one must eat a balanced, adequate food (i.e foods that contains all the nutrients, but in the correct proportions) as required by the body.
Now, let me give us this analogy: A railway engine is always supplied with coals which heat up the water to give steam which in turn drives the engine. If bad quality coal is supplied or if there is insufficient coal, the engine will definitely stops working. Similarly, food provides the body with the necessary materials needed for a healthy and active lifestyle. The food is burnt in the body to supply energy for keeping the body alive and warm. It is also converted to New cells which replaced the old and worn out ones. If bad quality or inadequate food is eaten, one becomes weak and tired, and this may lead to emaciation (this is the wasting away of muscle proteins) due to the body system being underfed and undernourished. This bad quality or inadequate nourishment may also pose the body to a greater risk of infections and diseases as it render the immune system powerless and hence loose. Another effect of this is that the body is at the risk of reflecting some nutrient deficiency diseases, which sometimes may lead to death. If on the other hand excess is consumed, the excess is converted into fats and stored underneath the skin or converted into glycogen (a reserved form of sugar in the body) and also stored in the liver. The body absorbs the quantity needed for all the physiological functions and the remnants of this nutrient are left unused in the bloodstream, the consequent accumulation of this nutrient can lead to overnutrition, which can indirectly pose the body to some heart related diseases and other body fat disorders like diabetes, obesity among others. High intake of some vitamins and minerals as well can be very injurious to ones health. "Moderation and consistent quality meal planning is the best way to prevent or attain freedom from any disease or body disorders." Good Nutrition will surely Promote Optimum health.



NOTE: Buy and Eat Quality and not necessarily Quantity. You are what you eat. A Quality food material will surely gives a Quality body material. "Let Food be thy medicine and medicine thy food" this and many more quotes are the word of my professor.
