Computers / Re: 5 Most Dangerous Hackers Of All Time (with Pictures) by Shigan: 10:20am On Nov 21, 2016
All good programmers are Hackers, bro. You should try to read up before posting an authoritative thread about such a technical field of human endeavour.
There are White Hat Hackers ( the good guys who find loop holes in your system and reveal them to you) and Black Hat Hackers ( The ones who break into computer systems and networks for personal gain and evil reasons).

Read up bro...not all Hackers are bad. grin
Programming / Re: I Want To Learn Programming. Which Language Should I Start With? by Shigan: 9:10am On Nov 21, 2016
ibnquasale:
i am a very confused person when it comes to choosing an "appropriate" programming language cry cry. i know the gurus here can help me. i read statistics and maths.
my desire is to be able to design front ends for my databases, design GUIs and desktop applications that can also serve as front ends or data analysis applications.

i know little of PHP, Python, CSS, Mysql (through video tutorials). one of my main challenge is i don't know what to do with them, especially after learning the basis..... i don't mind being an apprentice to an expert here wink grin grin

thanks in advance.

C++ is not an easy first language. Also, the technology stack (set of languages) you chose to learn do not have intuitive libraries for Desktop GUI applications development. If building front-end GUIs is your desire, you should consider tools like Tk, .NET, etc. Most of the APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for building GUIs are learnt separately from the core Semantics and Syntax of each language.

Crime / Re: Baby Abandoned In Carton In Akwa Ibom Near A Refuse Dump! Cries to Death by Shigan: 8:08am On Nov 21, 2016
I'm just wondering what kind of evil spirits followed the mother of the unfortunate child to that refuse dump:
People gathered and watched a baby literally weep to death, like some kind of macabre ritual where the cry of an innocent baby supposedly cleanses the land of evil!
Somehow, all those people couldn't stand together and permit any good woman to save the baby, thereby permitting the evil spirits to use them to finish the work happily. They could have stood together and explained to any police officer that they wanted to save the child! Aren't suspicions and fear INFERIOR to the survival of an innocent child, who might actually be the solution that Nigeria has been praying for?!
Later, the mother would be looking for children and package herself in a church as a victim of witchcraft. She has carried a lifelong curse.
Programming / Re: For Computer Science Students by Shigan: 7:42am On Nov 21, 2016
Hi bro,
I came across your post an curiosity led me in. I finished from Computer Science studies at the University of Ilorin in 2006.
After over a decade of doing what we do, I'm in the position to offer priceless guidance without talking too much.
I would like to gently point out that the word 'gig' that you have been using since your first post in this thread is 'geek', the sister terminology to 'nerd', someone who is an expert at something, not necessarily computers but often used mainly for computer gurus. Please correct that....nice thread though. Cheers.

Webmasters / Re: A Good Webdeveloper Urgently Needed To Retrive A Hacked Site by Shigan: 11:07am On Nov 11, 2016
Hi guys. I've been doing IT Consulting for over 15 years. When you say 'hack', are you trying to take control of the website or you just need to pull secure info (like the contents of a database) out?

Extracting and decoding a database will cost you N70,000 to N120,000 depending on a host of factors.

Taking back control of a website that was hacked will cost you N180,000 flat.

This is a very dangerous subject and I do not wish to be headhunted by govt. forces. Pls response ASAP so that we can go private.

I've been to your office at Maitama Sule before an I loved the work culture. I did most of what you require in-house as an IT officer with Mall For Africa, until I left about a year ago. I'm confident I can deliver more to iConcepts.

I have lost some jobs too, just like you. I think that what you're suggesting is tempting but will not work. I suggest focusing on mastering XHTML/CSS/Javascript well enough to churn out standards-compliant designs that you can reuse for various clients. Much like using your own hand-coded designs as templates for others. With CSS it's easy to quickly adapt designs to suit different scenarios.

Cheers.

What's the point anyway? Are you a recruiter/headhunter?

Web Market / The LOYON Series: The Web Design Collection (7 Ebooks, 60 Wise Recipients) by Shigan: 1:22pm On Jun 08, 2012
Hi,

My name is Folu Aduloju. I am a graduate of Computer Science with over 8+ years experience with computers, IT Trends and Technology in general.
I have been sharing knowledge within my circle of friends and acquaintances for over 10 years, at cheap, giveaway prices. I have become aware that many people are now opening 'schools' claiming to teach people programming and especially web design. What most of their unfortunate students don't know is that NOBODY can teach you how to program. You can only be shown the way. You have to find your own path, because we all think differently and apply our knowledge slightly differently when it comes to writing code. No two programmers ever write the same thing down when asked to solve a particular problem, yet they may have used the same books or gone to the same class!!

What I am about to do will vex many, but I don't care. I think there's enough space at the top for more people, and I hate hoarding information.
I have come to offer those who have the foresight and understanding, the opportunity to break free from the common error of others and take their destiny into their own hands, programming wise. All you need to possess to be able to use these books is a computer (laptop, notebook or desktop), a regular source of electricity, perhaps a printed copy of what I will give you, and YOUR MIND!! These books will teach you HTML4, HTML5, CSS, AJAX, SQL, JavaScript and design Aesthetics. This skillset is all you really need to live a comfortable web programming life.

I do this kind of crazy thing periodically. I expect only 60 people to be interested in this. Once I reach that mark I will stop sending this material out. The top is not for everybody, and I really don't want to attend to a flood of mails because I am a programmer myself with no time on my hands for this. N.B.: The easiest way to make thousands of dollars online in a few days is to get Web Design jobs, which are becoming more and more pervasive as entire countries are being opened to the Internet across the world.
If you are interested, please follow the instructions below.

1.Pay N2,500.00 to:

2. Send your Teller Number, Name, Location and career specialization to morapprentice [at] yahoo dot co dot uk

3. You will get an email within a few Hours with your 'Knowledge Payload' (The 'Learn-on-your-own' (LOYON) Web design tutorial ebook package).

IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT, CHECK OUT MY PROFILE ON LINKEDIN: Folu Segun Aduloju. I won't jeopardize my reputation for cheap money.

That is an average of $2.6 per book. When you consider that buying each one might cost you over $20, I think it is wiser to get this once and for all. Who knows, you might open your own business and teach others with the same material, multiplying your sources of income. There are over 140 Million people in Nigeria, 60% of whom are Youths. I don't stand to lose anything by sharing my knowledge this way.

Hurry now.

Cheers.
Programming / Re: Html Before Php??advice by Shigan: 12:28pm On Jun 08, 2012
Dear Soyedele1,
It appears that you have allowed people to change your dream for you. Let me help you focus ON THE FACTS:
1. You want to be an Oracle Certified Administrator or an Oracle Certified Professional
2. You were obviously made to believe that being able to design web pages is a prerequisite for OCA or OCP.
3. You listened to people who have good knowledge of web design and who sound like pros at it.
4. You contracted their enthusiasm for THEIR dream and substituted it for yours.

SOLUTION/FOCUS:
1. We have been subscribing to Oracle Magazine in our family for over 7 years. As you may know, it contains tips, tricks and pointers to the challenges faced by OCAs and OCPs in their daily work.

2. I am a graduate of Computer Science, so I have a clear, sharp, very good idea of knowledge paths for programming, which is just one of the many fields of Computer Science that many have embraced because we opened our science to the world.

3. For OCA, you need only a laptop and knowledge of PL/SQL. SQL is a generic language, meaning that it requires another language as a container before you can implement it. For this reason many vendors have their own proprietary versions of it. For Oracle, PL is the "Programming Language" with which you are required to implement SQL.

4. For OCP, it is assumed that you have had some experience as an OCA. All you need to add to your skillset is knowledge of just one more TOOL: Java. With a laptop, PL/SQL and JAVA, you can reach any height at Oracle Corporation (well, perhaps you might add having an MBA, :-))

5. ADVICE: Never follow the advice of others if it is not in line with your dream.

Additional Bonus: C, C++, Java C#.NET, and Scala are considered to be in the same class of programming languages. PHP is like C++ with more special characters, plus it exists in the Open Source Domain of knowledge. For this reason as well as others, it is widely considered to be less secure than ASP.NET, which still remains THE web programming language of choice for Enterprise Applications/Web Development.

Cheers.
