osobase01:If you read this thread properly from the beginning, you will know. |
nairabacks:You are welcome. |
nairabacks:There are some things I can't say on threads based on business ethics, send me a mail with details and I will advise you. |
nairabacks:There is always a 60-day transfer lock period for newly registered and newly transfered domains. However, if you are transfering within a registrar, known as domain push, there is no lock with most registrars. There is nothing bad in buying from a Nigerian registrar if it has a good domain push policy and your buyer is ready to register on its platform for a domain push or ready to wait for the 60-day lock period to be over so that the domain can be transfered to the buyer. |
Emperorchix:Visit Uspto.gov. However, if a dictionary word is trademarked, there is a way we go about it without running foul of the law but I can't reveal it on this thread because it is classified. You can enrol for my Online Mentoring Program to get such an information. |
samtobi:The .de ccTLD (country code top level domain) you mentioned above belongs to Germany and I can't comment on it because I don't understand German. If you go through the top domain sales for the year as reported by DnJournal (I dropped the link in this thread), you will discover that it is not only .com TLD that is selling, other TLDs are selling including ccTLDs, (.uk, .de, .cn, .ng, etc.) but .com dominates the sales pages. There are special factors to consider if you want to invest in non .com and I may treat them in this thread if time permits. If you also analyse the daily sales report on Namebio, you will discover that long names are selling but they are not comparable to short names. |
kaze4blues:13 characters are better but can be more in certain conditions. Mixture of letters and numbers is not advisable except in certain cases. Numbers only domain names are hot cakes, but there are factors to consider before purchasing them and I may treat them in this thread if time permits. |
Gentlevin:I may treat that in the course of this lecture. |
In the next lecture, I will reveal 23 tools a serious domainer must have in order to suceed in the business. I will reveal the tricks I personally use to get the tools for free and how I take advantage of them. You can drop your questions and comments so that I will know you are following. |
Other Factors: (4) Short (5) No-hyphen (6) Easy to spell (7) Have good comparables (8 ) Have end-user value (9) Maximum of 13 characters most times (10) Good Estibot value most of the times (11) One word or two word in most cases (12) Must belong to one of the hot 13 domaining categories. |
Factor 3: Easy To Remember: A lot of internet users don't use bookmarks. They just memorize the domain names of their favorite websites and type them anytime they intend to visit any of them. Many visitors can be lost if a domain name is complex and not easy to remember. Consequently, you should only purchase domain names that are easy to remember and they will be gold in your portfolio. |
Factor 2: A .Com Is Better: If you go through the top domain sales we have examined in this lecture and the daily sales reports by Namebio, you will discover that most of them belong to the .com top level domain (TLD). The .com TLD, managed by Verisign, was one of the TLDs in the internet when the Domain Name System (DNS) was implemented in January 1985. The first .com TLD, Symbolics.com, was registered on 15th March, 1985 and by 1997, the millionth .com domain name had been registered. The success of .com TLD makes it the preferred choice on the World Wide Web. Majority of web visitors expect the websites they visit to be a .com. They tend to believe that a website that is not in the .com extension is not professional. Other top level domains are selling but .com is their boss. As a result of this, a domainer should know that his priority should be put on .com TLD. |
Names that identify the source of products or services in the marketplace are trademarks. You are at risk of losing your precious domain name if the owner of an existing trademark convinces a judge or arbitrator that your use of the domain name makes it likely that customers would be confused as to the source or quality of the products or services. A good domainer should check that the domain name he wants to purchase is not a trademark. |
Factors To Consider Before Buying A Domain Name As A Domainer: There are 12 factors you must consider before buying a domain name you intend to sell. Your understanding of these factors will determine whether you are going to succeed in the business or not. These factors are responsible for my own success in the business. Factor 1: Trademark: If you buy a domain name that is protected by the trademark law, it will be very hard for you to sell and the trademark owner can get it back through UDRP. The Uniform Domain-Name-Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) began in 1999 to protect trademark holders from cybersquatting, which is a term used to describe the act of intending to make money by registering, trafficking in or using a domain name simply to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. |
The lecture continues in a few hours from now and I will be treating factors to consider before buying a domain name as a domainer. |
