Eyop: Hello Boss...Sincerely i prefer the Kompressor except he doesn't have a reliable mechanic to handle the services for him. But judging by the pics he's displaying here,it seems to be very neat though you cannot ascertain the mechanical aspect of the ride. I asked him what he needed in a ride and he told me cheesy so that's why i suggested he should go ahead with the kompressor.
Sincerely the car is neat. The CD player, Extra tyre, Jack etc came with it. The A/C is working well. Nothing has been tampered with. It has a little rust bt the door of the drivers side which is not visible & the BAS/ESP indicator is on that just the shortcoming of the car

How much do you think its worth?

Eyop: If i were you i should find out if it will be possible to order them direct from overseas. So many repackaged transmission oil, engine oil(Even the Mobil 1 sold in our filling stations are not fully synthetic),coolant, etc except you are sure of the source you will be buying from. Depending on location,to order these items shouldn't take maximum 2 weeks to land Nigeria.
@Eyop that's serious. What has happened to Nigeria that we have to buy stuff abroad in order to be sure its genuine.
How do you get yours? Do you also place orders?

Mobil gas stations seem to be the major culprit in this show of shame.
Does Mobil Nigeria not have a FaceBook Page or Twiiter account where one can lodge complains?
If they do, the best bet is to lay complain on these social medium & I can assure you they'll buckle up cos of their Image.
I'm even scared to buy engine oil from Mobil gas stations cos of adulteration. besides the recommended egine oil for Mercedes Benz is Mobil1 0W-40. Guess I'll have to buy from AutoMedics.
Car TalkSTRICTLY FOR Laffs(how Secure Are These Cars) by shoppyanno(op): 7:40pm On Aug 19, 2014
Wonders shall never end in Naija. Folks and the different ways they secure their cars.
Some use BLOOD OF JESUS, ANOITING OIL ....
Others use JAZZ (like a very small broom. Cowrie shell under the steering)
Similarly, some make use of technological devices (TRACKING etc)

Which is the most relaible?

Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz Thread by shoppyanno(m): 9:06pm On Aug 18, 2014
Eyop: What do you want in a car? The kompressor is a supercharged engine while the C200 is a naturally aspirated engine. The C230 Kompressor is a performance ride i.e combining power with economy but the other is economical as well but in terms of performance, cannot be compared to the Kompressor.
Thanks @ Eyop. I need something rugged, fuel efficent, and can stand stress especially Lagos traffic. I ply Ekiti State to Lagos @ least once a month apart from other short trips.

Car TalkUsage Of Coolants & Water For Radiators by shoppyanno(op): 6:40pm On Aug 18, 2014
I saw this piece online & want to share with you. You might gain a thing or two.

What you should do before adding water/coolant to your radiator.....a must read!!!

The radiator in your vehicle cools your engine and needs water and coolant (antifreeze) to function. Keep the following points in mind as you check the level of the liquid in your cooling system and add more, if necessary:
Rather than open the cap on the radiator, just check to see whether the liquid reaches the “Full” line on the side of the coolant reservoir shown here. It’s part of the coolant recovery system. If the liquid doesn’t reach the “Full” line, open the bottle and add a 50/50 mix of water and coolant until it does. Some coolants are premixed, so check the bottle to see whether you need to add water or just use it as it is.
Check the coolant stored in the plastic bottle connected to the radiator.
Only in an emergency should you add only water to the coolant system. Most modern engines have aluminum cylinder heads, which require the protective anti-corrosive properties of antifreeze. A 50/50 mix of liquid or coolant is usually sufficient.
Some coolant recovery systems are pressurized and have a radiator pressure cap instead of a normal cap. Some older vehicles have no coolant reservoir, so to check and add coolant, you have to open the cap on the radiator.
Never add coolant to a hot engine! If you need to add more liquid, wait until the engine has cooled down to avoid the possibility of being burned or cracking your engine block. Don’t open the caps on either of these systems when the engine is hot; if you do, hot coolant may be ejected.
Coolant is usually red, green, blue, or yellow. If it looks colorless, looks rusty, or has things floating around in it, flush your cooling system and add new coolant.
If the coolant has a sludgy, oily surface, immediately take the vehicle to your mechanic to check for internal head gasket leakage. The service facility has special equipment for performing this check.
While you’re messing around with your cooling system, feel the radiator hoses, too. They’re the big hoses that go into the top and come out of the bottom of the radiator. If they’re leaking, cracked, bulgy, or squishy, they should be replaced.

Got this from @AutoMedics

These are some Benz Channels. Indonesia has the highest number of BBM channel so far. (My opinion) Seems Indonesians a're Benz freaks.

Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz Thread by shoppyanno(m): 10:08pm On Aug 16, 2014
@Klint Its good to know you see some sense in having a BBM channel for this Forum & Mercedes Benz users & fans in Nigera
There a lot of Mercedes Benz Channels on BBM but I haven't seen a serious one for Nigeria
Benz fans in UK, US, SA, Canada have BBM channels.
I think this Forum should take this Benz family to the next level especially with the way things are been run here.
Instant Messaging will definitely had more spice to this Forum

AutosWhy It Is Important To Use The Correct Specification Of Oil In Your Vehicle by shoppyanno(op): 6:32pm On Aug 15, 2014
Modern engines in cars are made up of moving parts that have very little space between them; therefore the need for oil (to lubricate) that is light enough to pass through these spaces.

Engine oil is divided into 3 main types- mineral, synthetic and semi synthetic oils. The mineral oil is basically made up of natural elements, while the synthetic oil contains processed chemicals and this makes it more suitable for vehicles to run on. The semi synthetic oil is a mixture of both mineral and synthetic oil.

Engine oil is classified according to its viscosity by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). Its classification consist of a range of numbers and alphabets e.g. 5w30. The number before the alphabet represents the lowest viscosity that the oil can attain, while the number after the alphabet represents the highest viscosity that the oil can equally attain. The “W” stands for winter, signifying that the oil has been tested in winter.

Manufacturers advise using correct specification of engine oil because:

1. Engines have tighter bearing clearances built with high precision.

2.     Low viscosity oils enhance fuel economy.

3.     If oil (not the right type for your engine) is too heavy, it could interfere with the vvt (variable valve timing) operation.

Specifications of vehicle engine oils are usually available on the engine oil cap, owner’s manual or workshop technical manual.    So next time you want to change your engine oil, go by the specification of  the manufacturer and save yourself the headache of engine problems.
