freshest4live: Swerrychick even when you travel you would appreciate Nigeria, it is a third world country fine, but you guys are just too negative. If you are a Biafran then you can be that negative, l understand. But as a Nigerian, why should you only focus on the negative of Nigeria and ignore the little steps towards progress she's making, while you do the reverse for other countries. Today some are even praising Cameroon, but weeks ago l read an article from a Cameroonian, advicing Biya to copy Nigeria and learn from the development he sees in Abuja. This was at a time Biya was to pay a visit to Buhari last year. He listed so many things for Biya to learn. I'll post the article. I think you missing the point here. There things nigerians can learn from kenya like milk production and distribution. Your argument doesnt answer the really question which is: what small steps are you talking about? |

Litmus: No Nigerian here seem pained by Kenya's progress. It isn’t in Nigeria peoples' nature to wish other Nations in Africa ill. Actually, so many Nigerians elevate other African nations (undeservedly) above Nigeria. Some Nigerians rightly take issue when, just for political millage, the progress made by other African nations is used as weapon to disparage Nigeria.
In many respects, if anything, the reverse of what you stated is the case. Many Africans from other nations seem the ones pained by Nigeria’s progress, real or imagined, and yet act the wronged. U seem not to live in this reality. We africans are not pained by your progress but atitude. Nigerians go to africans countries and act like they own everything. Just like white people do. You dont respect africans. U put yourselves above us like the arabs and whites. No wonder you guys bleach to much. Anyways i admit, if nigeria were developed. With its 200million ppl. We'd all be probably ahead. Thank God that wont be the case in 20yrs. |

forgiveness: It is high time I burst some bubbles.
Nairobi is the Africa headquarters of international organizations claims.
They said Nigeria doesn't have Regional international organization headquarters but we told we are building our own world international organizations in Nigeria with headquarters in Lagos.
However, out of the 58 international companies or agencies sited in Nairobi, 30 are East and SubSaharan Africa regional headquarters while only 22 are Africa regional headquarters.
Nevertheless, out of the same list, I counted 26 international companies or agencies with their West and Africa regional headquarters in Lagos.
Since, that is all they have, Lagos will dust Nairobi if we count all the west/Africa regional headquarters in Lagos such as banks, Oil companies, manufacturing companies etc.
This is all the international companies with headquarters in Nigeria. I numbered the companies with West Africa/Africa headquarters in Lagos.
1, Asus Lagos West Africa AVIC International 2, BASF Lagos West Africa Bank of China Bharti Airtel Lagos West Africa United Nations 3, BlackBerry Ltd Lagos West Africa 4, Bosch Lagos West Africa 5, Cisco Systems Lagos West Africa Chartis China-Africa Development Fund China Central Television China Daily CBD Africa China Radio International
6, Citibank Lagos West Africa
7, Coca-Cola Lagos West Africa (31 countries). Nairobi no longer host the Africa headquarters. Nairobi office is just the East/South Africa headquarter.
8, Diageo Lagos West Africa 9, Eltek Lagos West Africa
FirstCarbon Solutions GEMS Education
10, General Electric Lagos West Africa Google Africa headquarter not in Nairobi. GSM Association?
11, Heineken Lagos West Africa
Hill International
12, Huawei Lagos West Africa. Nairobi is not the East Africa regional headquarters. Ha
13, IBM Lagos West Africa. the Africa headquarter is not in Nairobi.
ICAO
IMF 14, Intel Corporation Lagos West Africa

cutieme: @Pidgin,I doubt if you have ever stepped out of naija to experience life outside.I mean in a peaceful country and not all these racist or war zone countries.I have lived in different countries and i can boldly say that Nigeria is lacking in so many ways.A country you cannot boast of security, sleeping with fear of robbers or kidnappers.A country you cannot come out to relax outside or within your premises upto 12midnight without fear.A coumtry where nothing works,no law or justice, corruption and nepotism trolling everywhere like no man's business. You are talking trash and asking silly questions if our forefathers didn't live comfortably without all these basic amenities but you forgot that Naija wasn't like this in their time. Then there were zero cases of kidnapping and less of stealing e.t.c.Nigeria is blessed among countries in the world everyone knows but our bad leaders have made living uncomfortable for us depriving us of the basic necessities of life, something some of us are enjoying in other countries so why won't i stand by the truth.Pidgeon or pidgin stop all of those blind arguement and undeserved patrotism. This thread is very informative and I would hate for it to turn into an abusive thread like most threads on Nairaland these days. We are here to learn from one another and not to become abusive towards each other. No wonder Late Bob Marley - a Jamaican - sang the song "Africa unite" because he saw how divisive Africans can get with each other.

Nice one! I have never visited any African country. Europe and America is were am conversant with. But he different kind of african. Provocatuer at his finest a troll. GERALD710: Last I checked, Tuskys, owned by Black African Kenyans also has 24 hour stores, One in Nairobi and Tuskys Mtwapa operate 24 hours a day. However, Nakumatt has more stores operating 24 hours a day.I presume the person visited Nakumatt Ukay which is just a few meters from Westgate Mall and operates 24/7. Nakumatt is indeed owned by a Kenyan of Asian descent, but it is not the only retail chain in Kenya and although the largest, it only has a market share of 12%. Kenya's retail sector is dominated by Black Africans as the second largest supermarkets, Tuskys and Naivas are owned by Black Africans. Uchumi, owned by the Kenyan Government comes fourth. Ukwala is the only foreign owned supermarket in the list that comes fifth. It was initially local but is now a subsidiary of Choppies. Nakumatt has minimal presence in mid sized towns where locally owned supermarkets dominate. For example if you go to the Kalenjin inhabited areas like Eldoret, Nandi Hills, the dominant supermarket is Kassmatt, owned by a Kalenjin.Go to Central Kenya, Maathai Supermarkets, owned by a Kikuyu is found in all the major towns of Central Kenya and only has one store in Nairobi. Eastmatt is based in the Central Rift and is most likely owned by a Maasai(as it started in Mau Narok and has stores all over the Central and South Rift. Why do kenyans have the need to prove stupid nigerians wrong? Makes us look too desperate. Or maybe my african pride(if such a ting exist) is lacking....... or maybe arguing with a dumm person makes you dummer. Anyways this is a tread created by a nigerian that claims nairobi is better than lagos and abuja. Thats sounds right to me.... |

streetwise2015: @sHOTdownHawk What is Biometric? Do u mean BVN? Please Clarify me?
your national ID and Passport,(biometric a must). And a returning ticket to your home country (especially if nigerian, returm ticket to nigeria is a must, no transit through nairobi) Personally if you dont now what biometric ID or Pass is, you should not be allowed to travel outside your country. But it has come to my attention nigeria stil uses both non biometric and biometric pass. Thats the new generation IDs and Pass which have your finger, iris and even dental prints stored in it. Just for security purpose. |
