From the number of posts this man has generated here on Nairaland, you can tell he is very popular. A lot of us actually love nothing more than searching for the next bombastic quote from the man himself. |
Afam seems to jump back on this thread everytime an anti New york post surfaces. |
Singapore is very beautiful but the cost of living there is very high. I am pretty sure you will bumb into Nigerians there. |
@ Baba, it is not considered well mannered to begin a sentence with abuse. I said The nIgerian music industry is young. What I did not explain was,yes the industry has been around for a long time but it is having its highest amount of exposure right now. Nigerian musicians can now go on tour anywhere in the world. Quite unlike their movie counterparts, they still have room for redemption. |
'Blank Stare' |
Oh well if thats what makes you guys feel better!!! |
No, I dont mean like they sound alike. What I meant was, the whole idea behind the Safe song was that M.I smoothly infused the other musicians song titles into his song, the same way Magnito was naming dropping the said Musicians as well. |
lol @ElRazur, you really got that one figured out. |
It is very worrisome that some people would actually believe what that mad mullah is saying. These thoeries do not have any merit practically. You can twist it and turn it , Same thing happened with Haiti, Hugo Chavez will have us believe the earthquake was caused by America !!!!!! , at the end of the day it is what it is, conspiracy theories cooked up by people who have grudges against America. |
Wenge abeg o. Dem no send una. The guys song is good but I just think maybe the whole name dropping thing is akin to MI's fusing the different songs into Safe. |
I mean the format looks the same. |
It just wont seeem normal until a Nigerian is involved? |
The Medicine Girl song is his version of M.I's safe right? |
Its easy to sit down and criticise . There will never be a time when anyone here would say they are satisfied with the Nigerian music industry. Our industry is still young and it has potentials. Its one thing to say people like Terry G is wack but these guys are getting airplay meaning people actually like them. If you do not like em, you skip em. There will always be wackness just get with it. If American Hip Hop ( which most Nigerian musicians use as template), has gone past its time, what makes you think the Nigerian one would be any different ? |
Well well well, its 2010 and some people still believe Tupac is still alive. Honestly I wish it was true but it isnt and we should all accept that and move. Its been 14 years now for crying out loud!!!!! |
As much as I like Drake, I think he is a one trick pony compared to J Cole, He just happens to be the most hyped so I can understand why most peeps think he is soooooo good. |
So sad. Just goes to show that our lives have no value. |
And they would have us believe it is a Nigerian disease. |
What a ranting lunatic, , this abberation of a human being is looking more and more like a contender for the Hitler of our generation. |
By NICK PISA From Rome Published: 05 Mar 2010 A VATICAN chorister who sang for Pope Benedict XVI has been sacked after it emerged he was at the centre of a gay intimacy corruption probe. Nigerian Chinedu Thomas Ehim, 40, was fired after it was revealed he had procured rent boys for Angelo Balducci, the ex head of Italy's public works council who is involved in a corruption investigation. Balducci has been in custody for almost a month after it emerged he was at the centre of a £300million scam, involving building contacts for last summer's G8 summit held in Italy. love-peddlers Vatican officials fired Ehim after it was revealed he had been used to recruit the male love-peddlers for Balducci, 54. But they stressed that he was "not a priest or a seminarian but a chorister". However, it was claimed in Italian newspapers that according to leaked police telephone interceptions some of the gay men recruited were priests or seminarians. One leaked court document published in Italian newspapers said that, "Balducci used intermediates to arrange homosexual encounters with males love-peddlers". Balducci is said to have asked Ehim about one man: "What time does he have to be back at the seminary (priest training college)?" Balducci's lawyer Franco Coppi said: "It is an outrage that material has been published which is not relevant to the investigation. Private matters are not part of this probe." Vatican officials also confirmed that as a result of the investigation Balducci had been stripped of his post as a Gentleman of The Pope, a title awarded in recognition of his contribution to the Catholic Church. @ Shoot2Kill, Dont you think you are using the wrong medium to air out your grievances. The Americans are not going to read your post. Wouldnt you consider sending a letter to the Consulate where ever you are ![]() Or would you need help with the address?? |
My favourite class clown is back. |
This issue of imitating the west is not limited to Nigeria. Everybody has a bit of an American influence one way or the other. After a whole lifetime of being exposed to that culture, do you not think then that it would only be natural if you show it in some way or form. You think Nigerian musicians are copying their American counterparts First of all the music itself (Rap / Hip Hop / R n B) is American, so going by that logic, they shouldnt even be doing that. They should all wear Ankaras and Laces, singing and dancing by some Flower gardens , maybe that would be African enough. My point is, we should be grateful we have people resourceful enough to grind like they do in the kind of environment we have in Nigeria. Not a lot of African countries have what we have at the moment, yet we still complain. |
Out of the 3 Cats (Wale, Drake, J Cole), I think J Cole is the closest it can get. I have been hooked on him ever since i first heard 'In The Morning' and 'Lights Please'. |
Isnt he the same dude that is supposed to be next door neighbours to the Babangidas ![]() |
Who in the hell listens to LL Cool J ![]() !! Its 2010 not 1989 dude. You might as well put in Melle Mel and Kool G Rap while you are at it lol. |
@ Poster There is a huge number of Nigerians in Malaysia, majority of which are students, As for the language barrier, since when has that stopped you from listening to the Makossa, etc?! |
Wonder where he gets it from, |
Saying all Nigerian musicians are crap and useless is a very crass generalization. Like a few people here have said, most Nigerians musicians are entertainers and they are giving the fans what they want. If you do not like em, hook up with Reuben Abati I am pretty sure you can work something out. |
South Koreans and their addiction to gaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
