A VATICAN chorister who sang for Pope Benedict XVI has been sacked after it emerged he was at the centre of a gay sex corruption probe.

Nigerian Chinedu Thomas Ehim, 40, was fired after it was revealed he had procured rent boys for Angelo Balducci, the ex head of Italy's public works council who is involved in a corruption investigation.

Balducci has been in custody for almost a month after it emerged he was at the centre of a £300million scam, involving building contacts for last summer's G8 summit held in Italy.

Prostitutes

Vatican officials fired Ehim after it was revealed he had been used to recruit the male prostitutes for Balducci, 54.

But they stressed that he was "not a priest or a seminarian but a chorister".

However, it was claimed in Italian newspapers that according to leaked police telephone interceptions some of the gay men recruited were priests or seminarians.

One leaked court document published in Italian newspapers said that, "Balducci used intermediates to arrange homosexual encounters with males prostitutes".

Balducci is said to have asked Ehim about one man: "What time does he have to be back at the seminary (priest training college)?"

Balducci's lawyer Franco Coppi said: "It is an outrage that material has been published which is not relevant to the investigation. Private matters are not part of this probe."

Vatican officials also confirmed that as a result of the investigation Balducci had been stripped of his post as a Gentleman of The Pope, a title awarded in recognition of his contribution to the Catholic Church.

There are soo many twist and turns in this story. It is now being alleged that the British Government might have been informed prior to the man being murdered. Typically, it is being denied by the Foreign Office but hopely we will learn more as this bizzarre drama unfolds.
