@fola....this house is just opposite my hotel and while taking a stroll some minutes ago I discovered someone is moving out of the house so that means there's vacancy there for now.i stylishly took the pic (just incase its not clear or straight)cos I don't wanna be seen as something else.

Will try and see if I can get in touch with them to make equity on the rent rate.

@shysteve how do u view the place compared to accra,?Their women, environment e.t.c.Well for the language, u can be using sign to pass your message. That's what I did when I went to Cotonou the first time
I think this place more beautiful and orderly than Accra and their woman look hot and tempting.....its like this yopuogon is filled with alot of girls (majority maybe runz girls) due to the nasty tempting dress they put on.

I just dey turn my head 360 degree everytime am outside.

Anyway with the lil I've seen so far I doubt if one can easily get a job here without English o....until you get here before you witness things for yourself cos I really don't know how to explain the level of the language issue here.

I just changed my hotel this morning to a moderate and nice one still within yopougon and no one here understand English at all.dont even know how am gonna eat since everybody is speaking French.

TravelRe: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by shysteve(m): 11:59pm On Jul 20, 2016
NairA is now nothing to write home about...even people were complaining at the border that nairA has become so useless....it's 1k nairA to 1600 cefa.....almost becoming 1 to 1.

What time did you leave Accra?
We left Accra station by 6:30am o....the major delay was the border.

Lol grin
It's a good experience tho. You should be in Abidjan before 8pm.
U will love the city.
Bro.....we got to the bus station in Abidjan around 6:30pm and I took a taxi to youpogon, mehn it took me almost an hour to get there from the bus station in trechville and I finally got a very nice hotel for 12k cefa per night.....Abidjan is a real beauty but the only problem is the language issue....it's so terrible that you will hardly come across someone that understands it....tank God for the lady that helped me talk to a taxi man but even after that I faced hell when I got to the hotel....at a point they had to go and look for someone who understood lil English before I was able to get a room.....I bought some spicy meat for 2kcfa and big bottle water for 500 cefa outside the hotel.......I doubt if I can stay for the budgeted 2 weeks dos of this language issue....meat seller, water seller, hotelier etc no understand nada for English but all in all.. It's a beautiful with some lovely, attractive buildings.....what about the very long beach....will give account tomorrow when I setup my laptop.

TravelRe: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by shysteve(m): 3:42pm On Jul 20, 2016
This is definitely gonna be my first and last time of road travel.....I thought people said its fun but I think in actuality it's very stressful......I thought we were crossing easily o not knowing the Ivorian customs service just wanna start their own work sha.

They are opening everybody's bag one by one searching for what only God knows.......will update when we are cleared to leave which I believe might be in an hour or more considering the number of people and bags being checked.
TravelRe: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by shysteve(m): 3:03pm On Jul 20, 2016
Am at the border now,I had to pay 10k cefa for every Nigerian first timers before they can stamp your passport....anyway I don't have a choice

Got orange SIM card for 1k cefa,I was told by the pretty Ivorian lady beside me that it's a good network.

Will update later...crossing

Just took off from the bus station, our projected eta is 6pm so am guessing it will take one full day from Nigeria since Ghana is closer to Abidjan and they are saying we will get there by 6pm.

Will keep updating the house.

As it has been said that nobody give you ideas, depends on you. But i will just suggest for you:

- Buy Clothings there and send to Nigeria for sales (wholesales)
- Bags and women acessories (thats still buying and transporting)
- If you are capable, open a shop in Abidjan, sell Electrical appliances
- If you have money, join the car parts and machine bussiness
- Open a marquis grin fastest profitable bussiness in Abidjan. FOOD HOUSE "allocodrome''
- Beer Houses or Just a shop of retailing drinks and breweries (same as above)
- Beauty stuff, marquillage, makeup shop (best), Hair dressing (you will sell like madt), Beauty House

JUST GIVING SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS WILL SHARE SOME PICTURES AS USUAL
Please am a contractor but i dont mind going into something else to keep the doug coming in from left, right and enter.am taking off for abidjan next week for a 2 weeks tour and probably make some findings on what kinda business one can do in the country.

My question now is that, can 500k get me some good stuffs which i can buy and send to nigeria for resell and will make my money back in no time and if yes then what kinda stuffs are we looking at?(please look at it like you the one who has the 500k to invest on something).

Yeah i am a Nigerian-Ivoirian. Born in Côted’Ivoire, living in abidjan and other states since day 1, holidays in 9ja. Mother from Nigeria. Am an African traveler, So i know very well about both countries. My great article on my travel story through west africa is still under construction.

So back to your question, since Ivorycoast is a french-speaking country, the chances of you getting a job in that field is low if you dont have any certificate in french. so i advice you to enroll your self into a good french class when you get to Abidjan and go for DELF exam. ( Diplome etude en langue française ) or you should do A Level Bac in french at alliance français.

You can still get a job, if the company olis desperate in employment and recruitment or probably with luck.
Very insightful.....can you recommend a good french school, will be going there soon to see things for myself before making up my mind if i should relocate finally or stay back in accra.

@ugosample,pks where can one get the STC bus?
I just called their customer service, they are located around Kwame Nkrumah Circle and the lady i spoke with said the cost to Abidjan is 70GHS and 9000 CFA.

She also said its advisable to book 2 or 3 days ahead of departure.

Nairalanders/Nairalandies please am ready to hit the air on the 18th to Abidjan for a weeks tour,so far the cheapest airline i have come across is Egypt Air which almost like a No No due to their recent Bleep ups(plane crash news is the beginning of fear).

Does anyone have an idea a cheap airline i can fly with and also a budget hotel.

N.B: i'm flying from Accra.

Please i will like to get some information regarding Abidjan.....been following this thread and am really interested in seeing the beauty of this country, i am presently living in Ghana(19 months now) and am thinking of seeing another beautiful african country and maybe stay there after my first visit which am planning on for middle of this month.

Please bee below for my main questions:

What is the cost of getting a single room self contain?
What is the cost of living (food, transport, utilities etc)?
What is their internet service like (my business is internet based)?
How are the people towards foreigners like Nigerian?
Is there a nice language school in Abidjan (i dont mind learning french to keep myself busy when am less busy with work)
What kinda business can one venture into?

I'm thinking of going there by middle of this month for just 2 weeks and see things for myself before my final decision of relocating, but i will really appreciate your prompt response to the above questions.
