Facts and figures ahead of the Premier League match between Liverpool and Southampton at Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge is the first player in Liverpool’s Premier League history to score in the team’s opening four games of the season.

Southampton have won four of the last six Barclays Premier League games against Liverpool, but the Reds have won the last two at Anfield by a 1-0 scoreline.

In the last five Premier League meetings between the Saints and Liverpool, the Merseysiders have scored three goals, all between the 43rd and 45thminutes.

Southampton have scored just four goals in their last nine Barclays Premier League matches.

The Saints have played three teenagers in two of their Premier League fixtures this season, something Liverpool did six times last season (a divisional high).

Lucas has been booked in each of his last three Premier League appearances. He has never been booked in four successive PL games.

Southampton have averaged the second highest possession figure this season (59.1%), Liverpool are only ninth (48.1%).

Southampton have allowed only nine shots on target this season - fewer than any other side, while Liverpool have conceded the second most (22).

Sturridge has scored the third and fourth fastest goals of the season so far (versus Man Utd and Swansea respectively).

Rickie Lambert has had eight headed shots in the Premier League this season; three more than Liverpool have in total (5).

All five of Liverpool’s goals in the Barclays Premier League this season have come before half-time.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Arsenal vs Stoke City (3 - 1) On 22nd September 2013 by siddiq202(m): 9:25am On Sep 20, 2013
Facts and figures ahead of the Premier League match between Arsenal and Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have won all five Premier League matches against Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium.

Peter Crouch has scored seven Barclays Premier League goals against Arsenal; only against Blackburn ( 8 ) has he been more prolific.

Stoke will be the fifth team Mark Hughes has coached in an away game against Arsenal in the Premier League, but he has lost all six previous visits to north London to play the Gunners.

Mathieu Flamini has been booked in both of his appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have scored all eight of their 2013-14 Premier League goals from open play, whereas two of Stoke’s three goals have come from set-plays.

Stoke have completed 79% of their passes in the Premier League this season; more than in any of the five Premier League seasons under Tony Pulis.

The Potters have also averaged more passes per game this season (397) than in any of the previous five Premier League seasons under Pulis.

Olivier Giroud is one of only nine players to score in his team’s opening four games of a Premier League season and the second Arsenal player after Jose Reyes in 2004-05.

All four of Giroud’s goals this season have come before half-time and all before the 24th minute.

Without Giroud’s goals this season Arsenal would still be seventh, only two points worse off than they are in reality.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Manchester City vs Manchester United on Sunday at 4:00pm by siddiq202(m): 9:20am On Sep 20, 2013
Arguably the most entertaining derby in all the land, the battle between blue and red in the city of Manchester returns to audiences this Sunday (11:00 am ET on NBCSN, watch live via NBC Sports Live Extra). Both sides enter the match with new managers at the helm in Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes, and even on record at 2-1-1 means a loss for either club could result in them slipping out of the Top 5.

For City, they enter the match not only looking to take points from their rival but also to set right an inconsistent start to the season. After a dominant 4-0 victory over Newcastle to start the season, City lost 3-2 to Cardiff before skipping past Hull City 2-0 in a hard fought match and drawing 0-0 with Stoke City.

Aside from last weekend’s lifeless offensive performance at the Britannia, City’s main problem has been in defense. With Vincent Kompany injured for the first four Premier League matches of the season, Pellegrini was forced to deploy center-back combinations of Joleon Lescott, Javi Garcia and Matija Natasic. The inconsistent performances and lack of leadership had supporters worried but with Kompany’s emphatic return in Tuesday’s 3-0 Champions League victory Victoria Plzen, stability appears to have returned to the Etihad.

For United, Sunday’s match represents another chance for their new-look offense to gel. Last weekend saw Wayne Rooney recover from a head gash to go 90 minutes strong in the supporting striker role behind Robin van Persie. The Englishman scored a fantastic free-kick and his overall performance received rave reviews, prompting manager David Moyes to confirm that unlike last season, Rooney would not be used in the midfield.

The Scot’s stroke of confidence in his temperamental striker appears to have paid off as Rooney joined United’s prestigious 200 goal club on Tuesday night after scoring twice in the 4-2 Champions League victory over Bayer Leverkusen. The victory also saw the full debut of Marouane Fellaini, whose harrowing presence and crunching tackles released pressure on Michael Carrick and provided Rooney with additional space in which to operate.

A head-to-head look at each club’s form and the history of the derby shows that Sunday’s match should be a hotly contested affair. City have won seven and lost one of their last eight home games in the Premier League while defeat to Liverpool in their last away game ended a run of 13 matches unbeaten for United. Of the last five Premier League derbies contested at the Etihad, City have only one a single match. But from the last four Premier League derbies overall, the Citizens have won three of those contests.

Man smashes own Maserati in protest

Most of us love our dream cars. Wash them tenderly and polish out their imperfections.

Not smash them to bits with sledgehammers.

But that’s exactly what a Chinese Maserati owner has done to his own $428,000 Quattroporte.

The act was a dramatic stand against bad customer service, with the Chinese man – who is only known by his surname Wang – hiring two other men to attack his car in front of a crowded motor show yesterday.

Wang reportedly took his Maserati, which he purchased in 2011, to a dealership in Qingdao, but became incensed when he discovered second-hand parts had been fitted to his car.

A long and bitter legal dispute with the dealership is said to have proceeded the protest, which Wang organised by contacting Chinese media and spreading the word through social media.

Eklektika:

That's my point! The guy is way too confident,a tad too arrogant when it comes to taking penalties. At Inter,he had to be restrained from snatching the ball from Javier Zanetti, the team's designated penalty taker. He is a psychological giant, master of the mind games. Which goalkeeper can beat him at the mind game battle? Remember the Dortmund keeper in last season's UCL who tried to psyche him out by whispering in his ear that he'll lose a last-minute penalty. He calmly ran up and slotted the last-minute,ran and picked the ball from the net. While running back,he turned to the keeper, gestured with his hand to his mouth as if to say;you talk too much.

I thought he will lose the penalty against Dortmund too, but no, he took it with so much confidence. The guy is damn good mehn. I will like to see him play against Dele Aiyenugba though
