ferdimako:

Yeah but when you first bring in Does, it makes the following verb after anybody, anyone etc to be plural. Eg Anybody does go there-correct.Does anyone go there?-correct And not Does anyone goes there? Most difficult one is in the past tense. When did they come?-correct but wrong is-when did they came?

If you ever do IELTS and TOEFL, you'll get to know all these. But if we are open to corrections here, that could be of help on the sidelines.

I was impressed when my kid sister corrected me on how to use...'you can't eat your cake and have it' The correct arrangement for that cliche is 'you can't have your cake and eat it'.Or you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Ok ferd no wahala I would check it up later

i was referring to the new nigerian law.
The recent law has noting to do with your question.
The law is about "renunciation of citizenship" in which the senate passed that only 18 years and above have the right to.
Senator Yerima wanted married girls below 18 years old to enjoy such right too which led to another voting.
The outcome made senate to declare girls married below 18 to "have come of age" in order to be entitle to the right. That's all

Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslims Reject Child Marriage And Absolve Islam Of The Blame Based On Facts by siddiq202(m): 6:16am On Jul 21, 2013
LagosShia, the summaring of the law from what you posted is the declaration of any married girl who is below 18years to "have come of age", hence she has the right to renounce her citizenship if she so wishes. Which is what I said earlier

If you say a mature (which is one of the criterion in Islam for marriage) 17 years old girl is under-age and shouldn't be allowed to marry, then it's your opinion. But stop parading yourself for speaking for Islam.

LagosShia:

ignorance in both Islam and other fields is the problem.regardless I do not think I am in the minority.the majority of muslims do not marry 9 year old girls, hence the law to allow 9 year old girls to get married does not serve the majority of muslims, but a few men of desires and ugly fantasies.therefore it is best Islam is not used as a cover, when in the first place it doesn't support the act as some imagine.the burden and bad publicity, the muslims end up paying for it.
Senate did not pass law to set female age of consent to 9. The law only provides married females under 18 right for "renunciation of citizenship".
I stand to be corrected

kunmibola:
Well bro, Ishai starts 8pm in my mosque and like I said earlier, we finish taraweeh at about 8:30pm. If I may ask, is there a set time for taraweeh? What is supposed to be the average duration for the prayer?

Taraweeh starts after Ishai prayer.
He was trying to let you know that at the moment in Lagos (i.e if you live in Lagos) the time for Ishai start some minutes past 8:00pm and there is no way you could finish Isha and taraweeh at 8:30pm if you observe Ishai at the right time.

No specific duration. You can choose to recite short surahs or otherwise, the choice is yours. You should be asking the number of rakats for taraweeh instead.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Ramadan Journal For Muslims by siddiq202(m): 11:01am On Jul 13, 2013
maclatunji:

If you live in Nigeria, you are most likely not praying at the right time. At the moment, the time for Ishai in Lagos is 8.22pm or thereabouts. It is certain you cannot finish taraweeh by 8.30pm if you start at this time.

Beware: There are still a lot of mosques out there praying Ishai, taraweeh and other salat at the wrong time rendering them invalid.

May Allah help us.

Yesterday's sermon where I observed Jumah was based on this issue. May Allah forgive us all

kunmibola:
Really? So, how do you cope with that everyday?
Practice makes perfect.
You too can start this Ramadan and rest/stop when you are tired. The same apply to your tahjud.

Btw, hope you observed taraweeh at the same mosque tonight? Lol

kunmibola: Alihamdulilahi...2nd day is gone. I travelled out of my base today. I decided ti sleep over and I went ti a mosque nearby to observe my prayers. Nothing eventful happened until taraweeh. We observed so many rituals that I never heard of during taraweeh and d prayer session was really long. There were two imams exchanging the prayers and they were trying hard to deliver long surahs. I must confess that I almost quit at a time. But thank God, we finished after 9:30pm. Got to sleep now!
We do finish our taraweeh around 9:45, that's 15mins more.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Breastfeeding During Salat? by siddiq202(m): 11:15am On Jul 11, 2013
RoyPCain: it is not permissible to breast feed in salah. how do you expose the aura that you are supposed to cover all the time in salah that you are required to cover the aura? i cant imagine it acceptable. it goes against the grain of the salah requirement itself.

I don't know whether it is permissible or not but I know she can do it without exposing her body. Some women breastfeed their baby in public without people noticing
Islam for Muslims / Re: What/How Do You Eat in Ramadan? by siddiq202(m): 10:59pm On Jul 10, 2013
Let me respond to the original post.

I like eating food that will make my stomach to be filled up for sahur. So when you see me with enough swallow e.g semo/eba/amala during sahur there is no cause for alarm, everything is under control. It amazes me that most people don't like to eat anything for sahur.

As for Iftar, if there are no dates, I drink water, eat fruits that are available before bombarding (most times) rice. Gone are the days when man drink ogi + akara/moi moi before eating the real food #NoTime

Alhamdulilah! Mine went well. Although I didnt read the Qur'an as much as I would have love to but I still have enough time at hand to make a come back.
I missed yesterday's taraweeh but observed it today (In Sha Allah we would complete the whole Qur'an before Ramadan runs out as usual).

FILEBE: Ramadan Kareem! Pls could anyone help with the Niyyat for begining fasting? I mean the suplication for starting Ramadan fasting.
I dont think you need supplication to start fasting. The fact that you woke up to eat by this time is enough. Niyat is not to be said. Allah knows best
