Some days back, a document credited to a Ghanian professor George Ayittey, calling president Goodluck jonathan a joke was released. The article was widely circulated and read and most of us here saw nothing wrong with it. Some saw nothing wrong with a Ghanian insulting our president. Some found it funny, but i know that any right thinking Nigerian will not think it is funny. In my opinion, it is similar to an outsider calling your father names in your presence and you find it amusing. Such a man will question your paternity. Since the release of that article, a lot of facts have come to limelight. A close analysis of the article revealed that it was actually written by some Nigerians and released under the name of Prof. George Ayittey. The use of words like "GEJ", "clueless" and similar words are consistent with label which we have come to identify with the Nigerian opposition and even here on nairaland. The deep knowledge of our constitution exposed the ploy by those behind the article, unless ofcourse Prof. George Ayittey is a not a professor of economics but in Nigerian Affairs. http://www.naijapundit.com/news/who-pays-the-ghanaian-prof-george-ayittey. Similarly, a background check on Prof Ayittey revealed that that he is a member of African Oil Policy Initiative Group (AOPIG), an American lobbying group set up to promote greater American extraction of African oil. In other word, Ayittey is an agent of the U.S government working to protect American interest in Africa under the guise of African development. http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=George_Ayittey In his last outing in in Oslo, Norway, prof. George Ayittey has advocated the use of social media as a means of taking over government. Malam Nasir El-Rufai's online activism on facebook and twitter, targeted at the President, is an obvious pointer that his aim is to utilize this strategy in undermining the current administration. Patriotism is not about bringing down those in power so that you can replace them, neither is about destroying the country so you can take over and start rebuilding, its about doing your best for the country irrespective of who is in power. El-Rufai's activities in recent time does not portray patriotism but desperation by a man seeking to return to the corridor of power. While am not here to defend Some of the President's policies ( God knows am still angry that i have to pay almost double to fill my tank), i am however weary of the implication of belittling the office of the president. The truth is that the ascension of President Goodluck Jonathan to the presidency have proved that any one of us can become the leader of this great country tomorrow. If we are not mindful, we may have destroyed that office before our turn. President Jonathan may mot be an articulate leader or an orator in an era of 'efizzy', but even our parents are not all as erudite as President Barack Obama. Does that disqualify them from aspiring to the highest position in the land? Let us criticise his policies, let us make useful suggestion, but we must stop ourselves from being tools in the hands of political jobbers like El-Rufai and his cohort who can only function in the corridor of power. Or how do you explain that since they vacated their political office, they have not made any meaningful contribution to our development as a country in their private capacity, but have continued to scheme to return back to power, moving from one political party to the other. Be wise, use your head and shine your eyes. |

El-Rufai's First wife have packed out of his house following revealation that the man sacrifced their first daughter to further his political career not as President, but SGF. If the man can go to that extent how can he tell me he is a saint and innocent. Some of these men that have sold their soul for earthly gains can not be trusted. They want to always remain in the limelight to maximise their sacrifice. These issues have to be deliberated to know if we have become sacrificial lamb or fowl for some of these desperate politicians. |
Recall that El-Rufai's First wife packed out of his house when It was revealed that the man sacrifced their first daughter to further his political career not ass President, but SGF. Now u are all shouting and jumping up in his defence. If the man can go to that extent how can u tell me he is a saint and innocent. Some of these men that have sold their soul for earthly gains can not be trusted. They want to always remain in the limelight to maximise their sacrifice. Dont be decived by his shouting. He is a drowning man whose diabolical deeds are coming back to haunt him. |
like i said, its a message i got. now i feel we shod all stop blaming the president or the security agents for the security lapses. what have we done to help them keep us safe? these people carrying out these attacks are not ghost. they live among us. in America people call to report suspicious movement or suspicious people, all we do is take sides instead of doing our parts to ensure our own safety.afterwards we blame GEJ and d security agencies. abeggi. |
Are u not contradicting yourself? You start by saying u dont want blame trading and then u go on to blame the president? El-rufai is everywhere shouting blue murder speaking grammer on twitter facebook and newspapers, yet he cant ensure security in his home town. Instead he is actually sponsoring its destruction and u are here sounding off. Well done |
I just got this bb message and thought i should share it: Breaking news ........One of the persons arrested in connnection with the Zaria bombing has named Nasir El-Rufai, who hails from Zaria, as a mojor sponsor Of the attacks on Churches in the city. is El-Rufai now using his home based people to cause confusion and death of innocent people? Where are we really going to in this country? Who can we trust again? What is El-Rufai's agenda? |
What is the role of Julius Berger Nigeria(JBN) limited in our country? when the citizens were at a loss on the whereabouts of President Yar'adua, Julius Berger was busy flying him from one country to another. The Company gets some of the juiciest construction job in the country suppressing other emerging firms.JBN has also been indicted in communal crisis across the country especially in the South-South region where it sponsors groups against each other just to secure contracts. Currently, JBN is sponsoring the government of Akwa Ibom state in its bid to take over oil rich part of Cross Rivers State, so that it can continue to enjoy the patronage of Akwa Ibom State government. Very soon, Julius berger will start deciding for us who will lead this country or not. how did we allow a company that is totally unknown in its home country become a giant in Nigeria to the point of altering our political and geographic landscape ? Does JBN means "JAMMING & BREAKING NIGERIA apart " |
Cross River State and its Capital Calabar, remain one of the most admired State in Nigeria. this followed the exploit of its Former Governor Donald Duke, who thought other States Governors that a clean city is possible in our country, a position which earned Calabar the title of the cleanest city in Nigeri. The State was further brought to limelight with the establishment of the Obudu cattle Ranch, the Tinapa resort and the now famous Calabar Carnival, the envy of most States. In an era where most states were busy running to Abuja cap in hand begging for 'alms', Cross River was doing something extra-ordinary or CNN put it 'business unusual. The Sate was looking inwards, developning its resources. However, all this is about to change following the collision of the government of Akwa Ibom State and some memebers of the Judicairy to cede parts of Cross Rivers State to Akwa Ibom. An earlier judgement had ceded a bulk of the oil wells in the State to Akwa Ibom. As it stands, the government of Akwa Ibom State is ready to pay handsomely to rape its neighbour and elder brother of its rich land areas with the help of the same judiciary. While, i may not be from either State, i feel that the use of the judicairy by money bags to pervert the course of justice is shameful and a threat to our democracy and our collective rights as individuals. Am just wondering, do you think justice should go to the highest bidder ![]() |
i work around the court so i know what am talking about. meanwhile listen to your news for today and the newspaper of tomorrow, then tell me what you think. its just unfortunate. |
the federal high court in abuja has just released the suspects who bombed inec office in suleja, killing nysc members among others, despite th fact that they confessed to the crime. the judge, who is a muslim from the north found it wise to release them despite the gravity of their crime. am just wondering, if the security agencies should do their best to arrest suspects, why should the judge think its ok to just let them go at the risk of those who arrested them and others invloved in the case. i just dont blame the police again for some of these extrajudicial killings, and letting some suspects go. why dem go risk their life when the judiciary is going to jeopardise your efforts. i tire oo for this naija. |
I CAN UNDERSTAND HER FEELING, BUT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. FOR ONE THING THEY ARE NOT RELATED BY BLOOD, JUST BY IN-LAW STATUS AND THE WOMAN IS PASS CHILD BEARING, SO ITS NOT AS IF THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO THE BOY WHY THEY ARE IN-LAWS AND HUSBAND AND WIFE AT THE SAME TIME. i think it is wierd because, the couple, will inturn be 'step', which to me is still Inbreeding, i might be wrong though. INBRREDING IN WHAT SENSE, PLS? THEIR CHILDREN WILL NOT BECOME BLOOD STEPS JUST COS OF THEIR AFFAIRS, BE REAL , PLS. |
when i met my wife, i was teacher in a private primary school living in a one room self-contain apartment. her friend who accompanied her to my house went told her she was trying, dating a primary school teacher. Similarly, a long time admirer whom i had earlier asked to marry me told me i was not ready and she could not wait for me. To the glory of God, i have a well paid job, living in a nice apartment in a choice area in Abuja. The day we got married, the same friend declared that she wanted to take a picture with us to tap into our wedding anointing. Today, she uses me as the yardstick for her prayer point cos she is yet to be married. the truth is that most girls are so blinded by the here and now that they fail top see beyond today. for a guy to go tru school, get a good job, live in a good apartment and have all those good things you are looking for, do you think he will be living in a cave secluded from every female. if you are looking for a ready made man, my dear you may have to wait longer or be prepared to eat the leftover. Some ladies are blessed with the give of foresight and can see the CEO in an Okada rider. others want to wait for the manifestation, by then it is too late |

i am always amazed at the way issues are analysed here in NL. often, people tackle issues without basic knowledge of whats at stake or simply out of sentiment. we attack the government for doing nothing, and when they do something, we criticise it and try so hard to bring it down. and this is not limited to the government but we even do same to individual efforts. we prefer to beliv negative tales than positive ones. Concerning the $200million provided for the nations entertainment industry, i beliv its one of the bold steps the present govt has taken in terms of encouraging human development.Know that its a loan/grant, not a donation. Califonia is host to American entertainment industry. today, califonian economy as a state ranks among the top 10 economies in the world. in the past years, America has come to term with the potential of the Nigerian entertainment industry. Look around you, when last didi you hear an American music in a major occassion, wedding or party? we have evolved our music so much that they can stand at per with any intermnational standard. These foreign firms are willing to pump billions into this industry under an unfriendly agreement with the hope that they can claim the final revenue. havent you noticed the training and collaborations by foreign movie academies and studios in this regard? not only in Nigeria is our movies and music making waves, but the whole of Africa, Asia, Europe and the American. which means people are spending their dollars, pound and euro on Nigerian movies and music instead of on Hollywood products. I am not defending anybody, but providing access to fund will encourage the growth and expansion of this industry, creat more jobs and and ensure that the proceeds stay in Nigeria and not syphoned out by foreign firms. So, please, lets criticise governments when they fail, but when something noble is done, lets acknowledge and encourage it. |
