This is to inform all the general public that the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho (LAUTECH) Post-UTME and Direct Entry Admission Screening Exercise Form is Out Online for 2018/2019 Academic Session.
APPLY FOR LAUTECH POST-UTME EXERCISE WITH 160 JAMB SCORE AND ABOVE.
1. ELIGIBILITY
Notice is hereby given to all candidates that made Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso as their first choice and second choice of institution in the 2018/2019 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to a Post-UTME Computer Based Test (CBT) Screening Exercise between Friday, July 27th and Saturday, 28th July, 2018 at 10:00am. For an applicant to be eligible for the exercise, he/she must have scored 160 and above in the 2018/2019 University Matriculation Examination.
2. METHOD OF APPLICATION
Applicants are to proceed to the admissions website of the University www.admissions.lautech.edu.ng to make payment of a fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000 .00) only for the purpose of online registration for the screening exercise using Inter-Switch Enabled Debit Cards (ATM).
Applicants are expected to carefully complete and submit the online application form as incomplete application form will not be treated. In completing the online application form, a candidate is expected to upload a digital copy of his/her scanned passport photograph which must be in JPEG (i.e. jpg) and must not be more than 20kb. The photograph must be in white background showing ears, with no cap and glasses.
On submission of the application form, a candidate is to print out an acknowledgement page which assigns him/her the venue and date of the screening exercise.
1. OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION
The application form will be available online for completion and submission from Friday, 13th to Thursday 26th July 2018. Applicants are to note that late completion/submission of application forms will not be entertained.

Any applicant with blurred picture on the acknowledgement page will not be admitted into the screening center as the photograph will be used as means of identification.
c) Applicants are also to provide valid and active email addresses and phone numbers through which the University can send information
Any applicant who fails to present himself/herself for the Computer Based Test (CBT) as scheduled, automatically forfeits being considered for admission.
Applicants are advised to come for the exercise with their acknowledgement page colour print-out. The use of cell phones (GSM, CDMA, PDA) and other electronic devices is NOT ALLOWED during the test.
Applicants are advised to BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS as the University will not be liable for any transaction with any unauthorized person.

Tension is brewing in Ekiti presently as palpable fear and anger have enveloped the people after governor of the state was allegedly beaten, tear gassed and dragged on the floor by security men who had occupied the gates of the governor’s office since Tuesday when President Mohammadu Buhari came to the state for mega rally of the All Progressive Congress.
Posters displaying PDP candidates were torn at the Fajuyi park and replaced with those of APC candidate.

Beyonce and Jay Z to lead South Africa anti-poverty festival for Mandela

Power couple, Beyonce and Jay-Z will lead an A-list lineup to mark 100 years since Nelson Mandela’s birth in a Johannesburg festival organized by the Global Citizen Movement to eradicate poverty.

The December 2 event, which will be internationally broadcast, will celebrate the late anti-apartheid icon and draw a number of leaders in an attempt to throw a spotlight on fledging efforts to eradicate the world’s worst poverty, Global Citizen announced Monday.
Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z will headline the music at the FNB Stadium alongside several other stars: Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, hit pop producer Pharrell Williams and R&B chart-topper Usher.

The festival will also feature some of the continent’s most popular musicians including South African hip-hop producer Cassper Nyovest and Nigerian artists Wizkid, D’banj and Femi Kuti, who is the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.

Global Citizen said it hoped that the run-up to the festival would raise commitments of $1 billion to help the world’s poorest, with half of the amount aimed at women and girls.

Global Citizen has held festivals since 2012 in New York’s Central Park on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly to rally support, especially among young people, in the fight against poverty. The group has since branched out overseas with seminars and music in India, Germany and elsewhere.
Hugh Evans, the founder and CEO of the movement, said he expected the Johannesburg festival to be the biggest Global Citizen festival ever in terms of reach, symbolism and lineup.

INFORMATION REACHING US CONFIRMS THAT THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC) MEMBERS TO GET HEALTH INSURANCE IN 2018 BUDGET.
This will be implemented from the one percent of consolidated revenue fund to be dedicated to health, as stipulated by the National Health Act.
The chairman of Senate Committee on Health, Lanre Tejuoso (APC, Ogun Central), disclosed this at plenary on Wednesday while contributing to a motion sponsored by Andrew Uchendu (APC, Rivers).
Mr Uchendu had lamented the insensitivity of officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) towards corps members who fall sick during the three weeks orientation.
He made reference to Hilda Amadi who died last month at the NYSC camp in Yipkata, Kwara State.
Miss Amadi, who was a graduate of Oil and Gas Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State where she hailed from, was said to have slumped and died on April 26.
Her death came days after she suffered a bone fracture during a morning drill on April 23.
Mr Uchendu expressed disappointment at the fact that no attention was paid to her by the NYSC officials.
“They refused to let her friend, Jennifer Dike, take her home as they insisted that her parents must come from Port Harcourt to pick her up.
“Even when the doctors resolved to take her to Illorin for serious attention, that decision was not implemented,” he said.

Efforts are underway to stop a fuel-laden tanker from falling at the Mosalasi area of Ipaja in Lagos.
The development has led to a heavy traffic gridlock on the axis.
Currently, the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Transport Management Agency, LASTMA, the LASEMA Response Unit, LRU, among others are on site to prevent a major fire outbreak.
The road leading to Ipaja and environ has been locked while a diversion has been made to Egbeda for commuters plying the route.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that its sensitive and non-sensitive materials, processes and procedures were secured, as the country prepares for 2019 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu gave the assurance on Wednesday in Abuja at the commission’s quarterly consultative meeting with Chairmen and other officials of registered political parties
Yakubu assured that the commission had introduced new innovation through the use of technology and electoral process, has gone ”far ahead mischief makers”.
He said that the commission was aware that as Nigeria approaches the 2019 general elections, there would be a lot of interest in INEC activities for virtuous and malicious reasons.
INEC’s assurance is coming barely three days after an image of a blank Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) was advertised by an offshore Company for purchase in the open market.

The Police Command in Enugu State says it has rescued Pa Michael Obi, father of Mikel Obi, Captain of the Super Eagles, from the kidnappers’ den in a community in the state.
The Command’s Spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday evening in Enugu.
Amaraizu said the feat was achieved by the command’s operatives from the 9 Mile Division on Monday at about 2.30 p.m.
He said that the police operatives through a well-coordinated operation, rescued Pa Obi and his driver, one Ishaya John, unhurt in Egede axis of Udi Forest of Enugu State along Old Egede Affa road in the state.

According to Mimi, she loves acting but there is no money in it as much as in the oil sector.

Admitting that the movie industry has become bigger, she insisted that she was not in competition with anyone.

Unlike many actors who found it hard to convince their parents to let them venture into acting, the mother of one said she didn’t nurse such worry.
“When I wanted to get into acting, I didn’t have much trouble convincing my father. I am the only daughter and his favourite. My father also knew that I would always go for anything I wanted and not let acting affect my education. He was so proud of me when people starting telling him that they saw me acting on screen.
“I call my mother a hustler; I learnt how to be strong from her. Till now, I still learn a lot from her and she has always been there for me,” Orjiekwe added.

Oh, and for math classes, you really have to read the proofs. Don’t be one of those students who skips over them because they have no relevance to the problem sets. Reading the proofs will build up your mathematical maturity, just like lifting weights builds your muscles.      
1. Get 8-9 hours of sleep a night. This allows me to go to class well-rested and do my problem sets with greater efficiency.
2. Always go to class. Even if the lectures are not useful, they serve to structure my day. Having lots of free time creates diminishing returns for me – three hours isn’t too different from four hours, but having one block of three hours and one block of one hour is significantly better.
3. Spend a lot of time working on my problem sets before I ask others for help. I like to think that all my time spent getting nowhere on problem sets gives me a deeper understanding of the material. And I don’t know about you, but I find it way easier to concentrate when there’s no one else in the room.
4. Start my sets the day they come out (at least for the first few weeks!). You’ll probably spend more time on them, but being ahead will boost your morale. Plus you’ll have time to go to office hours and you won’t feel pressured to pull an all-nighter on the last day.
5. For some classes, I read the book before going to lecture. Try and have a schedule for reading the book so you don’t slack off. Also, you won’t have time to read the book for all your classes, so choose wisely.
6. Use the Mac app SelfControl to block Quora, Facebook, and other distractions during the day. I promise I’ll turn it on after this answer!
