Oniwo, its okay to do both. I farmed in both.
First if you want to plant tomato as it is currently done now in Nigeria, you will never break even.
My advise is that 3 hectares is too much for you to start vegetable production on, break the plot into 2 and plant maize on the 2 acres first while you use the 1 hectare to plant tomatoes and Ugwu. Pls i really want more detail on what is involved for ugwu farming
Ugwu don't really require land, may be 0.5 acres of the land is enough since you will need to design canopy stake for it.
