Hello.

Drop the plan to include your spouse as this may reflects immigration intent. Write your school in the States that you have a minor (kid) who would be traveling along and request for f2 i-20 for him.

Your next step would be to pay visa application fee for your minor and apply for your visa. Start from requesting for your kid's i-20 because your present i-20 must be updated the moment you make such request.

Pls note that @OyotunjiUSA is a great resources in this forum. You should always comb the profile of any person that want to guide you for your personal decision. Regards.
Okay that means my husband can start his own when here’s ready? I have his I-20 already….my school asked from the onset if I had dependents and I sent all their details. Theirs are at the back of mine. Does he need to be interviewed? Hope he will get it when I have successful gone over as a student

I appreciate everyone’s input, it’s so helpful

Thank you @oyoTunjiUSA and everyone

However you decide to do it is absolutely fine.

You can either apply alone, with your child, or with the whole family.

For you to be able to do that, you’ll need to request for F-2 I-20 for your son and husband.

What’s your situation? Anything stopping you from applying with your family? Are you able to obtain I-20s for them?
I have their I-20 already as they asked from the onset if I have dependents. It’s just that my husband may not be able to go with me immediately

Do not email anyone outside of Nairaland.

Be free to use pseudo names or information that protects your PII

You can schedule your interview as individual or as a group (family). If you all are going to the US together, better to apply together.
Thank you.

Just some clarifications, I reside in UK. I got admission and I have dependents ( husband and 3 y.o son). I started my F1 visa Application already and have gotten to the payment section. I didn’t apply as a group though I am planning to travel with my 3 year old and my husband wants to join later on. Should I go ahead and continue with mine singly and get an appointment or we need to go to my own appointment together.

Or am I supposed to do the application as a group?

Please someone should help me with answers 🙏🏼

Thank you sir @oyoTunjiUSA. I have found where to access it as I am currently in UK with my family not Nigeria. Please I want to also know if I should go ahead with scheduling my own appointment or I need to do it together with my family/dependents ( they're yet to complete the ds 160 form) Would they need an interview as well or just me.
I appreciate your help on this platform 🙏🏼

Hey 🤠

1. If you have truly gotten admission at AAMU then you are already Understanding the steps towards receiving your Form I-20 (USA schools admission pack) .

2. But, spsychologically it seems someone is helping you out in the process . Despite this , you are supposed to have access to your application portal where the progress of your admission process would be outline.

3. You should also have an admission counselor or someone you are communicating with in the school (who can also tell you the next step in your admission progress Or How did the school communicated your admission offer to you?

4. Anyways , you should be ready to send a financial evidence (bank statement) to the school before they can issue your Form I-20. Very few schools may also demand spot deposit from $200 above before they can finally send out the Form I-20.

5. It is not always a good idea for an Msc applicant to process application with dependents family accompanying person on F2-visa. It is only good for a Phd applicant and better for those going on mission studies.[/b But it is still very possible.

6. [b]Dont sit at home and be watching television.
Be careful.

Best Wishes 🙏
Thank you for your reply.
Yeah they have sent me links to help my process of getting the I-20 but they are not very responsive. Like the program coordinator I was supposed to get in contact with is not available, I was given a wrong email and they said I can book zoom meeting for help with questions which I did and nobody responded.

One of the questions I have is regarding the proof of fund, I need to know the amount that a sponsor need to have in their account ( if part or the full fees) and do I need to also print mine with a sponsor

Good day all

Please I just got admission for a masters program in a university in Alabama(AAMU). Please can anyone kindly put me through what I need to know. I’m still trying to understand the steps to get I-20.

I also need advice on how to be a student with family ( husband and son). I have a sponsor but it’s not a complete sponsorship.

Any advice relevant would be appreciated, thanks
