Coronavirus: A Facebook User’s Experience Of Getting Tested In Abuja ATTENTION: PRESIDENCY & FED. MINISTRY OF HEALTH To tell you the truth, NCDC can't do anything for you because they are not ready. All this PR they are doing they are assuming people will not try that's why. On Wednesday (25/03/2020) I and a colleague of mine decided we want to be sure of our status before going into #selfisolation. So we went through the following steps 1. We called the toll free line and after all the normal recorded stories, when we chose to speak to an agent they end the call. 2. We went to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, they told us they don't do testing there, that the hospital is only an isolation center. They refer us back to NCDC office in town, told us that's where testing lab is. 3. We drove to NCDC office at Jabi. There are two NCDC offices there in close proximity. The first office told us they don't do testing but they directed us to the second office saying that's where testing is handled. 4. The second office too absolved themselves of that responsibility and directed us to NCDC National Reference Laboratory, Gaduwa. 5. We visited the NCDC NRL. On getting there, the security at the gate informed us that a lot of people were there too earlier in the day and were turned away. That they don't do testing for individuals unless your state took your sample and submit to them. 6.They refer us to a circular posted at the gate and told us to contact the FCT Epidemiology team lead on COVID-19. 7. When I called him I introduced myself by name and then asked him if he's the FCT team lead on this issue. He answered yes. I then asked him how do I go about getting tested. He asked who are you? Who gave you my number? I told him I'm an Abuja resident and his number is on a circular at the NCDC office. He told us he doesn't know. He said we should go to NCDC. I told him but they referred us to you. He was silent. I then asked him to advise us. He told us to go to "National Health Disease Control" which doesn't exist. I will send a copy of the circular to this forum. Obviously they are doing selective testing which is dangerous. It means a lot of people might have been infected already but for lack of testing they are moving about infecting others. While the information from the official channels are saying people are not coming forth, the truth is that people are going but are been turned away. And I know because I was turned away first hand. It also tells you that either the NCDC are lying to us or they are not coordinated at all. How will you explain three branches of the office each denying responsibility and pointing us to the next instead of just explaining to us the laid down procedures by the NCDC https://m.facebook.com/673827759324224/posts/3897292313644403/

They are more US citizens in Abuja. They are evacuating their citizens cos they know we can’t handle the numbers they are currently counting, they know all our politicans that run to them for solace. So which smart thinking country won’t save its citizens What I’m thinking about is how Lagosians want to go for testing under lockdown?? |
What can be said at this point?

If she gets Covik-1-9 in prison what hope does she have. Ladies and gents, please don’t get involved in crime at this time. You could get Have you washed your hands today |

They have endangered their citizens from the onset now they are proffering solution because it’s overwhelming them. What happened to "We will not stop foreigners from entering the country" Our political system is too reactive and it’s why we are still where we are in terms of development. But atleast the respite of this whole story is that we are all going to dance to the tune, be you a senator or a petty trader.

Doctors and patients also worry that the president’s rosy outlook for the treatments will exacerbate shortages of old malaria drugs relied on by patients with lupus and other debilitating conditions. ‘Anecdotal Evidence,’ Dr. Fauci Says of Malaria Drug Claim Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, corrected President Trump’s earlier suggestion that a malaria drug could cure coronavirus. “Dr. Fauci, as was explained yesterday, there has been some promise with hydroxychloroquine, this potential therapy for people who are infected with coronavirus. Is there any evidence to suggest that as with malaria it might be used as a prophylaxis against Covid-19?” “No, the answer is no. And the evidence that you’re talking about, John, is anecdotal evidence. So as the commissioner of F.D.A. and the president mentioned yesterday, we’re trying to strike a balance between making something with the potential of an effect to the American people available at the same time that we do it under the auspices of a protocol that would give us information to determine if it’s truly safe and truly effective. But the information that you’re referring to specifically is anecdotal. It was not done in a controlled clinical trial. So you really can’t make any definitive statement about it.” “We all understand what the doctor said is 100% correct. It’s early, but we’ve, you know, I’ve seen things that are impressive. We’ll see. We’re going to know soon. Look — it may work and it may not work. And I agree with the doctor, what he said. May work, may not work. I feel good about it. It’s all it is, just a feeling. I’m, you know, a smart guy. I feel good about it. And we’re going to see, you’re going to see soon enough.” At a long-winded White House briefing on Friday, President Trump enthusiastically and repeatedly promoted the promise of two long-used malaria drugs that are still unproven against the coronavirus, but being tested in clinical trials. “I’m a smart guy,” he said, while acknowledging he couldn’t predict the drugs would work. “I feel good about it. And we’re going to see. You’re going to see soon enough.” But the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, delicately — yet forcefully — pushed back from the same stage, explaining that there was only anecdotal evidence that the drugs, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, may be effective. “The president feels optimistic about something, has feelings about it,” said Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, emphasizing that he was a scientist. “I am saying it may be effective.” Mr. Trump’s boosterish attitude toward the drugs has deepened worries among doctors and patients with lupus and other diseases who rely on the drugs, because the idea that the old malaria drugs could work against the coronavirus has circulated widely in recent weeks and fueled shortages that have already left people rushing to fill their prescriptions. “Rheumatologists are furious about the hype going on over this drug,” said Dr. Michael Lockshin, of the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. “There is a run on it and we’re getting calls every few minutes, literally, from patients who are trying to stay on the drug and finding it in short supply.” The moment of discord between Mr. Trump and one of the nation's most trusted authorities on the coronavirus was a clash between opinion and fact. It threw Mr. Trump’s faith in his own instincts into conflict with the careful, evidence-based approach of scientists like Dr. Fauci, who has held his position since the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mr. Trump appeared eager to sweep aside long-established standards for evaluating drugs in order to champion the remedy he favours. The excitement about the drugs is based largely on reports from China and France that they seem to help patients. But researchers and Dr. Fauci have stressed that the reports are not based on carefully controlled studies, which are the only way to be sure a treatment really works. As word of the drugs’ possible effects have spread around the globe, demand has surged, with hospitals ordering the treatments in a desperate effort to treat severely ill patients. Two large generic manufacturers, Teva and Mylan, have said they are ramping up production of hydroxychloroquine, and Teva has said it will donate millions of pills to the U.S. government. The sole manufacturer of chloroquine, Rising Pharmaceuticals, has also said it is increasing production. In addition, the German company Bayer announced this week it was donating millions of pills of chloroquine to the U.S. government and would seek approval from the F.D.A. for its products to be used in the United States. Hydroxychloroquine is especially important for people with lupus, which can be life-threatening, Dr. Lockshin said. The drug can lower the risk of dying from lupus and prevent organ damage, and is considered the standard of care. If patients stop taking it after using it regularly for a long time, they can gradually become quite ill. He said it was particularly disturbing to think that people known to benefit from the drug could lose access to it because it is being diverted to a disease for which there is no solid evidence that it actually works. “If there were justification for everyone taking it, that would be one thing,” Dr. Lockshin said. “It’s not hard to do the studies even in the midst of this crisis. We could have answers in a few weeks. But it’s being prescribed right and left. Dana Olita, 50, of Los Angeles, raced Thursday and Friday to refill her prescription for hydroxychloroquine, which she has taken for a decade to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Her pharmacist at CVS initially told her it was unavailable; then she was told on Friday that they had located enough to fill her prescription. “There are lots of people that desperately need this, and if we stop taking it, the problem to us is overwhelming,” she said. A spokesman for CVS said the company was “closely monitoring the global pharmaceutical manufacturing environment and working with our suppliers to ensure we can continue filling prescriptions for pharmacy patients and plan members.” The company said it had adequate stocks of hydroxychloroquine but described the supply of chloroquine as “tight” and said it was taking steps to address the issue. “I would hope that doctors would stick to the science and try to keep a cool head,” said Dr. Percio S. Gulko, chief of the division of rheumatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “Somebody is prescribing it for people who are trying to get it, in some instances preventively. They may just be depriving the patients who do need it for an established indication, for a possibility or a speculation.” Credit: Nytimes www.nytimes.com/2020/03/20/health/coronavirus-chloroquine-trump.html Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Seun Sissy3

The much-vaunted devaluation of the Naira came into force on Friday despite the denial by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last week that same was not on the cards. The apex bank on Friday sold dollars to deposit money banks at the rate of N380 to one dollar signaling the official return of a single exchange rate regime in the country’s foreign exchange market. An official circular by the Director, Trade and Exchange department of the CBN, Ozoemena Nnaji, said the development is part of efforts by the apex bank to establish a uniform rate between the official and the parallel market rates for bureau de change operators. The circular was on the disbursement of the proceeds of the International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO). With the new rate, the CBN has effectively collapsed the multiple exchange rate policy used in determining the value of the Naira since June 2016. The country will now have a single exchange rate for official transactions and bureau de change operators as well as for importers and exporters of goods and services, amongst others. This is the highest official exchange rate between the dollar and naira in the last two years. Henceforth, dollars sold to banks will be at the rate of N376 per dollar, while banks to CBN will be at N377 per dollar. Also, the rate by CBN to Bureau de change operators will be N378 per dollar, while BDCs to end-users should not be more than N380 per dollar. and the volume of sales for each market is $20, 000 per BDC. Denial Only last week the CBN denied any plan to devalue the Naira, as “the market fundamentals do not support Naira devaluation at this time.” To buttress its decision, the CBN argued that the Naira has been under pressure after crude oil prices fell below $30 per barrel at the international oil market Asa result of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the global economy. Since last week, oil prices have crashed further to below $24 per barrel, way below the government’s approved Benchmark price of $57 per barrel in the 2020 Budget. This has resulted in the cut in the budget estimates by 20 per cent and a review of the oil price Benchmark to $30 per barrel. Banks trading at the Investor and Exporter (I&E) window bought dollars at N360/$1 from the CBN on Friday March 20, 2020. The I&E window is the official market where foreign exchange is traded between banks, the CBN, foreign investors and businesses. The apex bank usually buys and sells in the market as part of its intervention programme. Nigeria recently confirmed 4 new cases of COVID-19 raising the total toll of infected persons in the country to 12. Really ![]() Africa as a continent claims to have no more than 25 or so. What baffles me is the way the virus is being handled not just in Africa but in the world as a whole! America knew about the pandemic and its quick spread in China and of course being the "world superpower" would have swung into swift action to shut down borders and set up isolation centres (Trump got a wall built for way less) But not in this case, Donald Trump claimed to not know there was a virus in the first place. A nurse in a public health centre in the US tried to get help from hospitals after seeing severe symptoms but guess what? She was told to isolate her self and not bother going to the hospital Why ![]() Back to base, Nigeria had all the grace to shut down borders and stop visitors from migrating to the country, guess what? They issued several statements on why they would not stop foreigners from seeking refuge in the country Now it’s up to "12" confirmed cases they are setting up fire brigade response by shutting down schools, religious gatherings and public meetings. Why are countries of the world setting up after being infected. Yes Nigeria may not meet up to current world health standards due to our inarguably poor political system but why are countries of the world following suit? Why is this matter being treated so lackadaisically amongst nations? Why the medicine after death play? Why are we given fake numbers about infected cases and death tolls? Why is this looking like a ploy to get everyone infected and get rid of the old ones or people with weak immune system. Why the deceit ![]() It’s no news that chloroquine is the new cure for the novel but same scientist that conducted this research and approved it now, were the same guys that claimed it had a massive effect on the human kidneys and liver, hmm Quick one guys: Protect yourself and loved ones by following instructions, wash hands with soap and running water or use alcohol based sanitizers. Avoid large gatherings cos for all we know it isn’t only 12 infected persons in Nigeria, it is more than a thousand, yes it is. We haven’t started seeing the outbreak because everyone is taking it as mere malaria or fever. News surfaced that a Chinese guy bribed his way through quarantine protocols a few days ago at the Abuja airport. We can only look to God at this point to heal our land and do our part by keeping a proper hygiene and staying away from crowded environments. CC Lalasticlala Mynd44 Seun

micchi:hmm anything circular doesn’t have corners if the earth is like a round plate like I’m told to believe then it shouldn’t have corners ![]() |
hardasan:That right there is deep......real deep, I give up sha It’s a shame you’re the Introverted type, I’d have really appreciated knowing you |
hardasan:1. A boeing aircraft moves at 30,000ft (Regular airplane). If any aircraft moves at or below 3,000 feet it’s to either save fuel like you said or escape radar monitoring. 2. What even support birds to fly at all isn’t it gravity3. NASA is like every governmental body with their own "onions" and secrets The real thing? how do they show people the real thing if not through videos and pictures 4. Neptune has not been explored cos of it’s gaseous state even it’s first layer of clouds would destroy any remotely operated drone before it even lands 5. I haven’t seen astronauts with air bubbles tho 6. Yeah space is a vacuum where sound cannot be heard and air is not felt Does it mean the moon doesn’t have it’s own features as earth, If the moon controls tides on earth doesn’t it have it’s own wind or am I spit balling7. Exactly! who mapped out the earths crust and who determined how hot the sun can be? Who found out stars are nothing but burning hydrogen if they are not even close to the earth 8. Then finally, can I get to know you more, I like associating myself with intellectual people like you ![]() |
hardasan:Wow No. 5 tho Gravity helps to balance light weights and supports aerodynamics If they was no gravity birds aren’t meant to even be on earth cos they would have been long gone I don’t think any bird can go over 50,000ft Why is that so if the earth is flat and immovable They should have no fear because the earth is it’s own universe No 6. Hmm radioactive waves? How do space shuttles break those radioactive wave limits and exceeds planes altitude capacity? Why do they need to leave the stratosphere to escape the G force What about the three layers of the earth Crust, mantle, core every plain should be equal Does magma from volcanos come from hell ![]() Fr I’m really enjoying our convo I’m learning other people’s perspective of the world and it’s really enlightening You are good as well! |
EliteBiz:Everything written here didn’t you read them somewhere? |
hardasan:Hmm that’s true |
EliteBiz:Ok thanks alot but I still want to know why we can’t fall off if we get to Antartica, after Antartica what next, Why do we have different days and nights in different countries According to this pic Sir/Ma everyone should be in the morning hours right now It means star constellations are myths If so then they are smaller than the sun That means the earth is it’s own universe? |
hardasan:Hmm interesting |
hardasan:A spider attached to wall or a ceiling walks on it and rest and it becomes its new surface If you dig the earth and show up somewhere else it means the earth is flat na, use a pen through a paper and use that same pen through a plastic ball Which turns up the other side easier They is no bottom country everyone looks at the the sun after the earth rotates (Night and day) If the earth doesn’t rotate does it mean the sun rises? and if it does, Why is there time difference (Day in Nigeria, Night in Canada)? Why is everyone not seeing it as morning like us Everything is pulled to gravity why don’t we fall off when we go to the “ bottom countries” If a Plane moves over 50,000 feet it leaves earths gravitational pull and drifts into space Why does it have to have an altitude limit if the earth is flat? |
hardasan:I’ve heard of Picard but his theory was disallowed cos it lacked "merit" lol The fact is that we are told what to believe even documented views on youtube tell lies abi I feel there is alot I need to learn as well |
