Busquets came into prominence in 08/09, he was relatively known as Yaya was the recognized DM for Barca, by the summer of 09/10, Yaya left. So Busquets never got the chance of benching Yaya or showing Yaya who the boss is in Barca. It was after Yaya left that Busquets took over the DM position and has never looked back.

Going by your analogy, Eto'o left Barca because he wasn't good enough too, right? So anyone that leaves Barca is not good enough? Eto'o was highest goal scorer for Barca that season and two goals behind Forlan in La Liga, he was in top form, but left Barca because of sprained relationship between him and Pep. This is exactly the same problem Yaya had. Yaya knew Pep disliked him, so he left because no-one likes working for a boss that dislikes him. This is why Ibrahimovic left. Barca is so good at possession football that Busquet doesn't "defend". Until Busquet is actually in team where his defensive abilities is tasted, he would never receive the accolades he deserves.
